Victoria Street Fish Bar in Derby

It is a couple of years since I worked in Derby but nice to go back to the old haunts. This place didn’t and doesn’t disappoint. All freshly cooked and simply superb. Chips, fish and other stuff is so good here. Am surprised that there are not more reviews. I always review when I get excellent food and service. It’s what they do!

I always have my food delivered. This is the best fish and chips in Derby by far and I live just up the road from another infamous fish and chip shop which everyone raves about and I don't think is anywhere near as good as Victoria Fish Bar. The garlic pizza and kebabs are also good. It is also reasonable priced.

Had some small chips and so beutifull chips and nice and fresh and excellent costume service this is my first time visiting and I will be back soon.

Update 8/7/23 . Called in here again and Victoria fish bar never fails to impress the food was absolutely delicious. Infact this fish bar is the best in derby by far. Everything was so hot and freshly cooked it is our group of usually 8 people is our go to food place. Keep up the great service and food guys! Called in for food after a night out and the food was absolutely amazing. The kebab meat was so tasty and the chips were cooked to perfection. It was a great touch with the music in the shop. Will be definitely back again.

The owner was very lovely and rang my friend's phone the next morning. He reassured me that it was safe and I was able to collect it the same day. Thank you so much and I really appreciate all your help. We will be back again, hopefully being less drunk and forgetful.

Nice chippy. Reasonably priced tasty food. Friendly & helpful staff. They seem to cook their chips in small batches, meaning they're hot & fresh, which is great.

Really need to treat everyone the same and make impatient people wait the same as everyone one else.

Always good food when we’ve visited. Usually eat in as they have a couple of tables inside. Friendly service and freshly cooked food. Wide choice of kebabs and pizza and traditional fish and chips. We always go for the traditional stuff but the other food looks good. Very modern and clean looking place my favourite chippy in Derby at the moment 😋👍😀

Called in at opening time for three rather tasty cooked to order cod and chips meals, with peas and a cuppa. Lovely friendly service from the staff. Will be back if passing by and on need of a proper feed.

Best fish and chip shop in Derby

Ok my last review was relentless, all because I believe I squashed the pie, however I have since been back and now I am changing my review, the owner looked after me, all food was fresh and rather tasty. Best chippy in town center, clean, hospitable and very friendly and professionalism at its finest, a must for people who have not yet been, thanks for a tasty meal guys

Quick and friendly service. Decent battered sausage and chips. Nothing fancy but I expected that for the price. Just a decent fish and chippie. The only one of its kind in Derby City Centre. I stayed and ate inside, on their tables which were clean. There were a few other customers inside doing the same but it wasn't too loud, made for a comforting setting. Would definitely plan on going back. And would also recommend to anyone else looking for a chippie in Derby City Centre. Only 4* because I've had better chips from other places.

Been several times, the service very good and the food is outstanding. Amazingly they are happy to cook fresh even for a small order. The place is always spotless and welcoming. Most importantly I will keep coming back, the best chip shop in the city centre, without doubt.

Do not order from this chip shop using deliveroo as you will not receive your food and still be charged for it . Deliveroo are a joke. I also contacted the chip shop and they weren't interested but they were happy to take my money ...... I finally ordered from another chippy using just eat and they managed to deliver my food . Well done just eat

Went in for the first time early hours of this morning , the food here is so delicious , it was soooo busy but got served quickly. Food was hot and tasty and also great prices. Will definitely be back !

I ate at the fish bar yesterday. The food was properly and freshly cooked, hot and served on a plate with a knife and fork to eat it with. The price was very reasonable and the staff well mannered, cleanly turned out and helpful. It is near the colleges, but I was not out of place as a 50 plus year old guy. Fabulous, I'll be back.

Generally been ok with eating here in the past when been with friends - decent enough food after a night out. Popped in tonight by myself on the way home and the staff member tried to charge me more than the advertised price - but "relented" when I challenged him on this. I use quotation marks because this staff member then tried to short change me. Thankfully I'm was not drunk like this staff member must of thought I was to try and scam me like this! Not impressed by the lack of honesty and scamming nature so after a year of customer loyalty I think I need a new place to eat after a night out!

Best place to get food Friday and Saturday late night

Good fish and chips at a price that won't break the bank. Guessing it's a late night venue as we went at about 7pm and they had to make them fresh for us so it wasn't a quick in and out experience but they man serving was really nice and accommodating when we changed our order.

A good place to get decent quality fast food and sit in and eat it as well. Quite a large choice of different items of food and drink are available. Staff are efficient, clean and friendly. Well worth a visit!!!

Fantastic, I order from here once a week. It always gets here on time, they've never got the order wrong and usually they add something extra like giving us the bigger garlic bread when we order the regular one or extra fritters. Food is lovely, very nicely cooked and never greasy. Couldn't recommend this place enough.

Great food, brilliant service and amazing staff

Asked for a large curry mix and a small. Very tight on chips as they both look the same size just in different size trays, after questioning the portion he added a few more chips to the large but wasn’t worth an extra £1 I wouldn’t go again only as it was late and every thing else was shut.

Nipped into to get some decent dinner as a few of my friends have used this place late night as the weekends before. The staff are really nice and the owner is great, i ate in and got a large portion on a plate with knife and fork. Got to be the best kebab ive had in many years with lovely fresh salad and both meats were amazing.

I ate here and really enjoyed it, freshly cooked and delicious. 5 stars without hesitation. I ate in, they have seating for about 15 to 20.

Food was amazing from here can't fault it at all. Delivered in good time and friendly staff when I wanted to amend my order. Very Reasonably priced too. Will definitely be ordering again

Just had the most amazing freshly made fish at the victoria fish bar One of the best fish and chips in Derby city centre Thankyou Guys!

This place has just opened (in the old Subway place) and we popped in to get some fish and chips. The owner is Italian and has been a chef for a number of years and very friendly! They also have pizzas and lots on the menu and everything is a good price and you can eat in or takeaway and everything is spotless. Opening times: Lunch and evening We ordered cod and chips & pie and chips to take out. The cod was beautiful and fresh and the batter was delicious. The chips were the nicest and the Pukka pie was the usual good standard. We were also given a choice of a free cake too. This is our new takeaway in Derby and we will be back.
