Spice Lounge in Derby

Visited here with 7 friends last night. All had something different and all equally impressed. Superb food. Clean. Tasty. Flavourful. Staff were very accommodating and the price was great too.

Always come to Spice Lounge for an Indian. Best Indian in Derby. Great value, great food and great staff. The team always go out of they're way to ensure we have a pleasant dining experience. We also get our Indian takeaways from Spice Lounge as they have great offers on collection & delivery. The award they have recently received is well deserved.

Booked a table for 7:30 on Friday evening. Arrived and the place was buzzing with a great atmosphere. Our starters were excellent along with very attentive service. However, our mains of Syrian beef and lamb gosht were dreadful. They both looked the same and had the same bland taste. Not good at all.

Recently visited Spice Lounge for the first time after getting numerous recommendations and one thing for sure is that these recommendations weren’t a lie! I visited on a busy Saturday night and I still received a 5 star service and the food was incredible. Definitely will be visiting again.

Great place the best Asian restaurant in Derby. Would highly recommend the staff are so friendly and the food is amazing. Will definitely go back again soon.

Will not be going here again. Food wasn't spicy enough and had no desserts available. Asked for a cup of masalla tea..and owner insulted us by saying that they only serve English tea...and we should have gone to Normanton Road...if we wanted masalla tea....🤔🤔. He offered us English tea on the house...but still charged us for it

Love this place. If you want to go out for an Indian in Derby this is the place. Amazing food, great service and well priced.

Came here with a friend on a busy Friday night. We had booked a table and we were greeted warmly by the staff. The atmosphere was buzzing, the place was packed with large tables of friends having fun and enjoying the food. The food we ordered was absolutely amazing, really delicious. My friend is a veggie and was well catered for. I would recommend this place! It's my favorite place to go for a yummy curry 👍

We have always loved the spice lounge but had not been for a long time. I took my family recently and we were welcomed by friendly and attentive staff. The food arrived quickly and was delicious as always. we will definitely be back again soon

The Spice lounge is our go to restaurant and has been for many years ❤️ 7 friends all had excellent food and service, food is always excellent and tonight was no different. We even got to try some of the new food on the new menu. WOW, perfection on a plate Thank you for always looking after us so well.

I was invited here to celebrate a friend's birthday and it was my first-ever visit. My initial review is just: Wow!! The staff are exceedingly polite and attentive, with quick, efficient service with a smile. Plenty of poppadoms and pickles were provided while we perused the menu and ordered drinks. We were early enough to take advantage of the Early Bird menu, and it turned out to be great value for money. I chose the chicken shashlik as my main. It was the first time I'd had it and it was delicious, so fresh and tasty, with juicy chicken pieces and plenty of vegetables. The other people on our party really enjoyed their food, too. All-in-all, it was an excellent dining experience and I thoroughly recommend a visit.

One nice and tasty restaurant, with actually reasonable prices. The only downside was the poorer sound insulation. As it got busier the buzz increased to quite loud.

My partner (who is from Derbyshire) bought me here and I loved it. This beats many Indian restaurants in larger cities and can honestly say the food and service was A1. Keep up the good work and please open a branch in London!!

Don’t usually leave reviews but for places that go above and beyond I’ll make an exception. Must be recently renovated as the whole restaurant has a cosy fresh atmosphere. Great for a family meal or romantic one. Was busy but just the right amount. Not too loud but enough to create a great feeling. We had staff waiting on us like we were the only ones here, 4 or 5 waiters were seeing to us, but not rushing. We were even offered a break in between courses. Absolutely refreshing experience. Food was great, really good flavour and fresh. Best poppadoms I’ve had in a very long time, warm and not stale at all. Presentation was great. 100% recommend if in the Derby area.

Came here a while back food and service were amazing but I came back tonight with my partner and the atmosphere, service and food are 10/10! Definitely coming back!

Attending an event at the Sub Rooms we needed some food before hand. .with VERY little choice we came across this place. It was awful from the time we sat down. A lovely young man who couldn't speak English was really very busy tidying and delivering drinks. The man who appeared to be in charge just constantly spoke aggressively to him in a, what I assume, to be both their native language. At one point he grabbed him hard by the arm. I was very uncomfortable. I asked if we could order and the man in charge, rolled his eyes and told me "soon". He went off to answer the phone, over and over and over. We finally ordered 30 minutes after sitting down. 🤦 We waited another 45 minutes for our food. (In fancy restaurants I get that, but not here!) The food was ok. Absolutely no more than that. And the rice was awful. I didn't eat it. Mushroom fried rice. No seasoning.... and really greasy. Other tables were waiting longer than us, the table next to us, who ordered the same time as us, still didn't have their food after we'd eaten ours. An hour and 15 minutes after ordering. They left. As did 2 other tables who had been waiting over an hour each. We assumed they were just concentrating on takeaways......mm but even that was started to get backed up and people were returning because items were missing once they did get their orders. There was such an unrest. Customers even become angry and threatening. One of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. Oh. And the table cloth wasn't really clean and cutlery didn't match. And my meal (although tastes ok) looked awful.

Visited here for Mother's Day. Food was very good and service great. The only issue I would say we had was the pricing. The menu said set meal £21.00 per head but we were charged £25.00 per head. Not sure what happened there 🤷‍♀️

Had a nice meal on Wednesday night perfect with the lads. The waiters were very attentive, the girl made us a lovely cocktails drinks one of mine was the raspberry Wich I say is refreshing . Started were great as evryone enjoyed it. Main course was perfect the way I wanted my chi tikka korai with basmati rice and garlic coriander Wich was cooked perfectly. End of night had a nice coffee to finish off . What can I say nice atmosphere and the decor is even better than before I like it. 😊

As always, this was a lovely meal, staff were faultless and there's a buzzing, but laid back atmosphere. Only issue was the rice portions were on the small size and the naan wasn't garlicky or cheesy enough. Possibly because this was an early bird meal. Otherwise excellent

The staff at The Spice Lounge were welcoming and unbelievably helpful. The ambience was great, would recommend for families, date nights, and work gatherings . The food, was phenomenal, worth beyond the price. 10/10 spot in the heart of Derby city centre.

the new tasting menu every last monday of the month wow the food was great plenty of choices and really tasty food instead of just picking a main try it you will not be disapointed

Indian restaurant in Derby. Nice and clean environment. Polite staff, service sleeps a little slow. It would be better if not too much time passed between the appetizers and the main courses. Good price for the quality of the products offered. Worth visiting again.

Rogan Josh had plenty of meat , King Prawn madras could have had more prawns, chicken jalfrezi was good, keema Naan better than cheesy naan, paratta were OK

Went this evening for a date night. Food was absolutely amazing and all staff that served us were so friendly and welcoming!

Only had take away..food was nice had lamb saag personal i thought the tandoori chicken was over spicy compared to others i have had..going back for a sit down next week

Absolutely love this restaurant , the food , atmosphere , decor but most importantly the staff are first class . I’ve tried other Indian cuisine restaurants in Derby but none of them come close to the Spice Lounge .

Another excellent meal and this reliably good restaurant. The food is great with all of the standard Indian restaurant curries plus special dishes. Last night I ordered something that wasn’t even on the menu anymore and they made it specifically. The staff go to extraordinary lengths to ensure guests enjoy their meal and will customise or replace to suit you.

Very friendly service. Food is average. Felt very heavy after eating though didn't order much.

I ordered a delivery from Just Eat a Chicken Jalfrezi as normal not had one for a while . It tasted different & instead of peppers was made with spring onions? Thought Jalfrezi had peppers in it. Not as nice as before so won’t order again .

Great food, friendly staff, what more do you need. Went on a weekend away and not a Derby regular, but seemed a lot nicer and cheaper than those on the other side of the city near the station (£25 for chicken tikka?! ) . We had a great meal and went away very happy. I’d visit again if I was back in the city.

The Price Lounge has always been our favourite Indian restaurant in Derby. Food is delicious, portions are generous and the Early Bird menu is excellent value for money. Customer service is always top notch. During our most recent visit, my partner bought a naan that turned out to be too spicy; not only were we given a replacement naan, but staff were kind enough to not let us pay for it. The restaurant has also been recently renovated and I really like the "openness" of the restaurant. Overall great experience every time we visit.

They are far too stingy on the rice portions. I get it, they’re trying to make people order more food, but they’ve taken it way too far.

Truly amazing restaurant. Definitely the best Indian restaurant I've been to and the best chicken I've had, ever. The food was absolutely delicious and the staff were great - good sense of humour and the service was excellent. Not bad priced at all either for the amazing food and service you get. Would definitely recommend and will be going again. Shout out to the staff member who reminded me I ID'd him for a Redbull at the shop I work at!

First visit. Lovely food, friendly staff. The food arrived promptly but I did feel a bit rushed - I suppose they can't win really! We ordered water for the table which we didn't get but I am sure we would have if we'd followed it up. The food was delicious and the decor really modern and welcoming. I would recommend and I will definitely go again.

I have always loved going to the Spice Lounge, and food always good. But since the refurbishment have to say not so good. We’re they had good sized tables and good portions of food. Now it’s really small tables with not enough room to put much on. Also food portions greatly reduced and favourites taken off the menu. Will I be going again, after years of going. Afraid it has to be a bing NO.

We had a great time and they accommodated a large group of us. Every dosh I tried was the best example I have had in any part of the world. My only criticism is that their wine selection was small, first world problems right? 🤣

First visit since restaurant has been refurbished. Pleasant and clean decor. Waitress was told a few times that we were on early bird but she still brought out drinks that were not part of the deal. Was told that the onion bhajis were NOT gluten free but menu said they were. Again I ask the question, why can't you serve up gluten free popadoms?? The Viceroy does.... Limited choice of gluten free options. Food was good. However, was overcharged by nearly £20 and had to remind staff again that we were on early bird so bill was eventually corrected. Such a shame we had a rather disappointing experience.

I come here all the time and I've never had a bad meal! The food is excellent and the staff are so friendly and personable! I always look forward to coming back for amazing service and yummy food! Can't wait for my next visit.

Just been to spice lounge!!! Took time to serve us, then finally ordered drinks. The waiter came over and asked if one of our party was ok, he was just stretching his bad back!!!! Waiter very aggressive and said he wouldn’t serve us. We did nothing wrong and have never been treated with such disrespect

Been a loyal customer for many years, eating in and ordering takeaway. Went in tonight for the early bird. Waiters took their time to come and serve us, eventually took our drinks order but then came and told us they weren't going to serve us after one of our friends was stretching his back injury. Felt very ganged up on with 3 staff members at the table. Got up and left and will not be coming back.

Best curry I’ve had in ages. Everything was delicious and the quality of ingredients really shone through in the dishes. I particularly enjoyed the Syrian beef curry. Lovely stuff

Indians don’t go there this place is good for white people. If you visit there you just waste your money. The food is worst. It’s too tooo tooo expensive as well and the portion is so low.

Visited as a Family group of 11 on a busy Friday evening. Orders taken and delivered with timely precision. Every one in our group eat their chosen meal with clean plates returned to kitchen. Recommend whole heartedly.

Came here for dinner for my boyfriends 21st birthday. Food was delicious and service was excellent. Very welcoming staff and great portions. Would recommend and will definitely be back if we’re ever in the area again!

This restaurant has recently been refurbished to a very good standard. The staff were very helpful and obliging and made sure we enjoyed our visit. All the dishes that we had were of good quality and generous proportions. We had chicken and lamb dishes both cooked to perfection. I have never had such nice tender lamb. The drinks and food prices are very competitive within the area. To guarantee a table at peek days and time you can book a table.This restaurant is well worth a visit and I fully recommend it.

First timers here, enjoyed it very much, great food, great choice, freshly cooked, service spot on and also they were very attentive, it's been refurbished so looks very nice as well, we will definitely return soon.

I live over 150 miles away, but when I am in the area or nearby I make a detour to have a meal at the Spice Lounge in Derby. The ambiance and atmosphere is so comfortable, the staff are so friendly and the food is absolutely delicious. A particular dish is my favourite, Chicken Mossomon. It has a gorgeous mouthwatering taste and it’s the best Indian dish I have ever tasted and is unique to the Spice Lounge. Nowhere else cooks this dish and it has been withdrawn from the menu. I am Indian from my father my father who was born in Bombay and my mother Ceylon and it is such a shame that this dish is no longer available as it was the best Indian dish I have ever tasted. I will see if they can prepare it for me next time I visit. Top class restaurant, I recommend it.

Early Bird Birthday meal for 4. Excellent value for money costing under £20.00 including a drink The service was first class from the minute we arrived, and very sweetly the table had a birthday balloon for our friend as the occasion was mentioned when the table was booked, nice personal touch. The staff were friendly, professional and attentive, very smart, smiley and polite. Nothing was too much trouble. The food was delicious, we all had different curry’s, and I can highly recommend the Lamb Balti, it melts in your mouth. The Spice Lounge was busy with a great atmosphere, but the staff kept it all running smoothly. I would highly recommend anyone to eat there, nice decor, clean,modern and comfortable. Oh ,do not forget to try the Pornstar Martini Cocktail with the Prosecco shot, it would be rude not to. I am looking forward to my next visit, and I have no doubt it will be just as excellent.

The food is so flavourful, and the new chicken and lamb chops starters are to die for. This ‘Indian’ is without doubt the best in Derby/Derbyshire. You have to try.

An excellent Indian restaurant with a great selection of Indian and curries, the food tasted excellent and the portion sizes were just right. I had the Syrian Beef Curry and Chilli Naan, the curry was amazing and had lovely flavours, the Chilli Naan was very spicy but went well with the curry. A nice selection of dips to go with the poppadoms was presented as the first part of the meal and wast the perfect appetiser before the main course or starter if you choose to have a starter first. Service was great with friendly staff and decent prices, I would definitely visit again when in Derby.

Ordered food for delivery, came earlier than expected, but the food was as exceptional as ever. Eat in or delivery the quality is the same. Quite possibly the best in Derby
