Paul was very attentive and the food was great, if you are in the derby area then I would highly recommend this place.

I was fortunate enough to be treated to my birthday meal here. Our waiter Paul was exceptional. He and his ear to ear smile made the night all the more memorable. The food was incredible. Every dish was seasoned to perfection, and I can confidently say it was one of the best curries I've ever eaten. I was also given a complimentary dessert, which was equally as delicious, as a birthday treat. Thank you for an unforgettable birthday meal!

I have been eating at Indian restaurants for 40 years and I can honestly say this was one of the best meals I have had, the onion Bhaji was delicious and crispy, the chicken Phall was amazing with lovely soft chicken and really flavoursome, my Nephews Korma was lovely and creamy and flavoured with coconut, naan bread spot on and rice was nice and fluffy, staff very friendly and attentative, I will definitely be using this restaurant again, highly recommend.

Food taste is not good and lamb was not cooked properly. Quality of food also not very good.

First time visiting this place. Couldn’t fault the friendly and welcoming service. Was really nice at the end of the meal that (I think the owner) chatted to us for a while. She was lovely. We had complimentary popadoms and dips, mixed grill starter which was really very tasty. Mains, chicken tikka masala and a chicken Jalfrezi. All really good size portions and really tasty. Will definitely go again, thank you.

I arrived to the restaurant very early, not long after the establishment opened. But I was greeted very positively. Every member of staff was very friendly and welcoming and engaged in terrific conversation. Cannot rate the staff more highly. The food was well cooked, very tasty and quick to be brought out to me. Would definitely visit again.

Tiny portion of rice and small curry . Not worth the money

Had a lovely meal when visiting my son who was in the University. Returned when he graduated with family as promised to the lovely friendly owner. Again we all had a nice evening and the food was as good the first time I tried it. Hope to return one day when we travel down to Derby in the near future.

We had a few amazing delivered meals so popped in for a meal.. So so good .. this is def worth a try ! .. The lamb was so tender. Top Tip..The madras is rather warm ! It did say slightly hot though

Myself and a work colleague visited the Golden Lamb whilst on a business trip, we were both very impressed with the service and the food, a real warm welcome when we arrived and the waiter we had serving us was very cheerful and couldn't do more for us. Would definitely visit again when in the Derby area.

We had the pleasure to spend our 5th aniversary evening in this restaurant, and we could not choose a better place for this!😊 The staff was very welcoming, friendly and helpful when it came to choosing our food and they created a lovely atmosphere. The food was excellent and we definitely need to try more when we visit the place again ( hopefully very soon ❤). As it was our anniversary, we received complimentary dessert and a red rose, which was just so kind! 🥺🥰 Overall, that was a great experience!

Chicken Korma: Too sweet, tasteless chicken pieces. Lacked flavour. Lamb achari: Nowhere near what we had in other places. Definitely lacked flavour. The lamb pieces were definitely not of quality cut. Mixed grill: Lamb chewy, chicken was good, kofte kebab not edible and smells unpleasant. Thought there would also be paneer as it's mixed grill? Aloo Gobi: Potatoes were not suitable for that dish, Mushy and lacked flavour. There were hardly and cauliflowers? Pilau Rice: Plain Rice cooked with artificial food colouring and rice or biryani essence. Egg Fried Rice: OK to eat. Overall: Only ate as we were starving and was treating this meal to our family friends. Unfortunately we did not have the time to return the food to go elsewhere. High prices for unpleasant food with small portions which came with no side salad or sauce. Only got mint sauce as we asked for it. People were very hospitable and friendly but definitely would not go back again. There was only 1 baby highchair available in the whole restaurant. There's a lot of room for improvement. Sorry for this comment. I hope you improve and thrive as business. In response to owner: Our guests were being kind and I could not give you this feedback in front of our guests especially when I was trying to look after my baby. Also, my husband too agreed with this feedback after we left the restaurant. We didn't leave the place bitter, however we would not return as the standards did not meet our expectations and it may do for others. We always order our takeaways from here, but thought we would give dining in a try. Needless to say we were not disappointed, all the curry’s were amazing and portion sizes very good. Service was brilliant, meals all arrived promptly by 2 lovely members of staff who were very attentive. Absolutely beautiful curry…would highly recommend. Will definitely be back very soon.

Myself and the wife ate here Friday 10 February 2023. We haven't a bad word to say about it. Very clean place, nice waiters. The food was very good. I've lived in Birmingham in the past and I know my Ruby's. I think the owners are quite new and took over this restaurant a couple of months ago. Popadums, pickle tray, veg samosas, main courses, pilau rice, plain and keema naan breads all cooked well and tasty. So good I asked for the leftovers to be bagged up so I could have it at home. Definitely going to The Golden Lamb again. Recommend this place to all folk who fancy a good sit down Indian meal.

I honestly don't know where to even start with this restaurant. This is by far the most over priced restaurant I had the displeasure to eat at after coming to the UK. The price : quantity: quality is ridiculous. The food quality and quantity is not at par for what's being charged. I made a mistake by reading through the reviews only to realize most of them are english people who have no idea on how Indian curries actually are meant to be. We ordered a starter dish of lamb and also a lamb curry with chick peas as suggested by the very friendly server. Both the dishes were quite unsatisfying both in terms of quantity and quality to be as honest as possible. We left quite unsatisfied to say the least. Maybe it's a one time thing, but honestly I don't think so, given that the quantity was really really less for what's being charged. After supper I had to use the washroom, need I continue at what's waiting for me in the WC ?

I have been more than impressed with the incredible flavours of the Chicken Briyani and Tandoori Chicken. Well priced, gastronomic delight and large generous portions. From today onwards, I will be a loyal customer to the Golden lamb and not to mention the incredible manners of the staff and owner . I am grateful that I was served with my favourite Indian dishes which are value for money.

Visited here while staying in Derby for a lovely meal on Bank Holiday Monday. Very friendly service and we were really looked after by the owner. The food was delicious and well priced. We will definitely return next time we are in town

New restaurant which is not widely advertised but we are lucky to find this gem. Great flavors (especially the chicken Tikka with a specially cooked gravy on the side). Masala tea was good too. Staff is very friendly and the chef is great. All the best to this restaurant!

Ordered the Prawn Puri, Chicken Pathia and Tandori garlic lamb. The delivery was very quick, delivery driver was very polite. Food was great, especially the Pathia (Probably the best dish I have ever tasted). :) Highly recommend.

Amazing curry! I moved to derby 3 weeks ago and have tried several Indians and I haven’t enjoyed one until tonight! The madras and makhani was so delicious! Rice, chips and naan were lovely too. Even the mint sauce and mango chutney was delicious. Super quick delivery as well. And very friendly delivery driver. Throughly enjoyed and will definitely order again. Thank you

Great food lovely service great spot in derby

Ordered a takeaway for home delivery - I used the website which was easy enough but I think there are more options in the paper menu than online. (side dishes are missing from the website) The response form was a bit confusing too so I phoned the restaurant to make sure they had my details and order correct. The web ordering will get better - this technology is quite new for this restaurant. The food was delivered within an hour, piping hot and portion sizes were good. There was a good lot of meat in each main course. The Lamb Handi was especially good - my wife found it a bit spicy but it was fine for me. The quality is as good or better than we have had from more expensive Indian restaurants - I will be ordering again but maybe I'll phone my order through next time.

As soon as I entered the restaurant I was greeted with a smile and seated immediately. The staff was very polite and made me feel very welcome. The food I ordered was absolutely delicious and I hope one day to return when I am next in England :).

Absolutely delicious. Could not fault our meal or the service at all. We ate at Shalima Gold a month ago and were totally disappointed with the over priced over rated experience and will not go again. However we would definitely recommend The Golden lamb and will definitely visit again 💕

Just ordered a Takeaway from here with my 3 work colleagues ,where to start , Price: Bloody expensive for the portion size the two Handi Ghost tray were barely half filled . Taste : Both garlic naans where dry and chewy possibly yesterday rehaeted ?? Chilli paneer sauce was very bland apart from the large amount of fresh green chillies in it porbably only thing providing flavour. Chicken Achari starter bland again also some small bone fragments to chew on . The Handi Ghost were full of cardamom pods and not so full of lamb which was both chewy and for something marinated and slow cooked had the texture of army boot leather. All in all a really bad takeaway experience so my recommendation is avoid at all costs . So Guys of Rolls-Royce if you were thinking of trying this place for your night shift treat DONT BOTHER !! To finish on a good note the delivery driver was pleasant and very polite .

Not good at all! Mushroom spinach dish was really disgusting and after eating the meal I had upset stomach. Rice was ok but paneer was not good. Waste of money

Just had an Eastern Speciality curry, mushroom rice and mixed tandoori which were all really well spiced and great flavour. Delivery was also five minutes early. Will definitely be trying these guys again in future
