Had an extra hot chicken madras on sunday evening and was one of the best currys ive ever had with lots of flavour

Very nice dinner. First time here since it opened. - fish masala - butter chicken - lamb mustang special All dishes were delicious. Will come again.

Picked this up on a recommendation and was a little dubious but what a great find. From the starters to the bill we were really impressed. We enjoyed 3 curries and each of them distinctive from the other with a full range of spice levels. Definitely would recommend and return.

Had a number of takeaway's from them since opening and always excellent food. Been tonight for the Valentines night deal, excellent service and food. Highly recommended

Amazing starter, garlic chicken tikka, main asked for a Tindaloo which they don't do but did, unfortunately I'm a massive spice/heat fan, i will say it would probably be the best Madras of the year, the flavours were amazing, Lamb was cooked just right, so glad they took over, great Indian restaurant, 2 mins away 👏👏👏

After reading the reviews it sounded worth it so I went and ordered a take out. I was left very disappointed as I was given enough curry and rice to feed a child plus it was stone cold. I ordered a chicken balti it was just sauce barely any chicken and tasted like a madras. The chicken tikka masala was so runny and oily and also barely had any chicken in. The rice was stone cold and tasteless. The naan breads were also tiny. The customer service was awful, the person who served me was very rude and not polite in the slightest. Would not recommend and will never go back.

We ordered from Mustang Masala for a take out for the first time tonight and were really impressed with the service & quality of the food. The lady we spoke to was lovely and the food portions were generous and really tasty! Very happy to be living so locally to this restaurant, so we can come back again 😋 thank you!

The service was great here, nice friendly staff and took good care of us. We got some poppadoms to start which were not very nice at all, they were soft and chewy and when we let staff know they did apologise and explained they don’t make them in-house and it was a bad batch. Really a refund or discount would have been nice but we just got an apology. The 3 sauces that come with the poppadoms, we all felt were very bland. We saw another table send them back too. We also got some vegetable samosas which were not very nice, again tasted out of a packet and bland. It didn’t leave us much hope for the mains but we were pleasantly surprised, ordering 3 of the chefs specials, all 3 were very nice. The 4th plate Dhansak wasn’t the nicest, but still ok. Very nice fresh naans and light and fluffy rice. Real shame as I think this would have been a nice experience but paying £13 for stale poppadoms just made it feel like we overpaid, and because of that not somewhere we’d go back to.

Fantastic authentic Nepalese and Indian food.... have been for many curries at many an establishment and this little gem rates very high. Quality service and a spotless restuarant. 10/10 from me.....its a must place to eat.

Absolutely the best curry I've had in years. I'm a bit of a food snob , but this was delicious. So tasty , hot and truly scrumptious. You will be having business again and again that's for sure.

Went to Mustang Masala last night for the first time and was very pleasantly surprised. Was greeted with a warm welcome. Place was well lit and very clean. Staff were helpful, friendly and very efficient and the food was perfect with good sized portions. Plenty of vegetarian/vegan options. Will definitely be returning soon. Great to have such a lovely restaurant in Oakwood.

Myself and my partner eat here ALL the time! My absolute favourite restaurant. The food is always incredible - there’s so much choice and it’s reasonable prices. The staff are amazing, so friendly and they go out their way to make sure they deliver an excellent service for their customers. Will always be my first choice when we go out for a meal.

I don't often leave reviews for restaurants but had to for this. I'm from London and we have our pick of amazing indian restaurants. When booking Mustang Masala, I spoke to Ibbi, the manager on a few occasions to establish a set menu for our large party, all with different dietary requirements. He told me to leave it with and he'd sort it. I was surprised with very reasonable price per head and if I'm being honest, wasn't expecting anything amazing. When getting to the restaurant, we were met with the warmest welcome and shown our table. The food came out promptly and the service and presentation was amazing. Each person was given a plate with a selection of starters. Now I'm used to the normal overcooked chicken tikka we get in the lower priced indian restaurants around here but the chicken was cooked to perfection and juicy and tender. All the mains were absolutely fantastic and the Naans were fluffy and light. The best thing about the night though was the staff. Ibbi and his team were brilliant and so patient with our rowdy group of 21 people. We plan to do the same trip next year and will 100% be returning here!

We travelled up for the weekend, from London and came across this absolute gem! The food was incredible, the service was immaculate and they were incredible to accommodate 21 people. We ordered a delivery for four of us on 29th July , it arrived swiftly. The meals were very hot which was good. On opening the food nothing was labelled so it was pot luck apart from the chicken Tikka Masala it was a very strange colour and the sauce was like water , not appetising at all. Very disappointing, I sent 4 emails to the restaurant before I placed this review but have not had a response, won't order again , it was embarrassing as we had guests and we had raved about the food . !!!!

Got the food day before yesterday and the pilau rice that they gave was the one which was stuck at the bottom

Wonderful place to enjoy a meal for two. Food was incredible, fresh and the most tastiest. Please do not think this is anything like the previous restaurant, the food is cooked to perfection and the service is second to none. See you again soon!

Excellent meal at Mustang Masla, catered for a group of 7 with no issues. Every single one of us commented how good the food & service was. Would highly recommend & will definitely be going back.

We were a group of four plus a toddler, who eat in the restaurant. We were the only ones in there as it was late afternoon. The waiter was very friendly and recommended a new curry dish which was yummy, we will return again for sure.

A very good set menu, and plenty of choice for vegetarian/pescatarians, and carnivores. A good selection of 3 Indian/Nepalese beers, and excellent service. Clean and fresh interior, and variable background music. A casual dining setting for all, through the week.

First time take away tonight from here, had mustang special lamb with keama rice, great friendly service and food was fantastic, the sauce was great but the best bit for me was cheesy garlic nann, everything was so tasty, will definitely be coming again.

Thankyou for a lovely meal last night.the food was just amazing.fresh, very very tasty, cooked to perfection ,hot and served with a smile.we had the balti mix..lamb chicken and prawns served in the best balti sauce ive ever had..with just the right balance of chilli ..loved the little dessert u surprised us with ,compliments of the chef really nice.cant remember the name of the dessert but it was a sort of tiny donut cross with a dumpling, sweet but not too sweet served with ice cream yum yum .so thanku again for a great meal.we will definately be back with freinds ..

I've visited so many of Derby's curry houses over the year and I can honestly say that Mustang Masala is up there with the best (if not actually the best!). The food is so good, perfectly prepared and excellent quality. I've tried a number of different dishes and they have all been exceptional! The service is also second-to-none, extremely attentive and can't do enough. If you are looking for the perfect curry then look no further than Mustang Masala in Oakwood, you'll not be disappointed :)

Words can’t explain how much myself and my partner enjoy the Mustang Masala. We frequently have both take out and food in the restaurant and have never been disappointed. On top of the fantastic food, the staff are top-tier too. Friendly, attentive and welcoming are all words I’ve used when recommending these guys to friends and family. We have extremely high standards when it comes to Indian cuisine. Having sampled many curries from across the country, the food from the Mustang is right up at the top of the list. Me and my partner are both vegan, which can be difficult when eating out sometimes. Not at the Mustang though, as their vegan food is sensational. I can’t recommend the Mustang Masala enough! Please go and enjoy it as much as we do 🤙

we were visiting the area and decided to try the local indian for dinner , , biggest mistake and such a waste of money , we ordered the chicken korma which was like bright yellow baby food with pieces of pan fried chicken breast no spices at all and I still have no idea what it was made from , being indian I know what a korma is and this was rubbish , ,we bought 2 naan bread a raita and some biryani rice , a couple of drinks and 43pounds later left , when asked how we enjoyed the meal I told the gentleman exactly what I thought in the nicest way and was told that no where in the Uk would I get an authentic Korma, if you claim to be an Indian/nepalese restaurant at least serve authentic food , I was told ‘oh no we do t serve that “!. Needless to say the item was not taken off our bill although it wasnt eaten , go elsewhere for a decent indian meal

Good food, pleasant, polite and attentive service.

The food was incredible, the staff were really friendly & we felt it was fairly good value. Overall, we really enjoyed our experience & we'll definitely order from there again - it certainly lives up to the high standards set by the previous owners. The taste of the food was very refined & had a lot of different flavours - I found myself wanting to lick the plate clean, it was that good! The portion sizes felt a little smaller than we were used to, especially compared to the previous owners, but mainly on the rice & nann - it certainly didn't feel like they skimped on the meat or fish in the mains though. In-fact, my wife commented that for a fish curry, you usually just get a few small flakes, whereas from here she had some very large chunks - very impressed.

First time here under the new owners. Food and service excellent. We hadn't booked but arrived on a Friday night just before 9pm and were seated straight away. We had popadoms and pickles followed by the Prawn Puri and Garlic Chicken Tikka to start, both presented and tasted fabulous. For mains we had Butter Chicken which was sweet and full of flavour unlike some other places where it can taste like tomato soup! The Chicken Balti was also very tasty and both were accompanied by pilau rice and the best ever tomato and garlic naan. The staff couldn't have been more friendly and attentive, we will be back. Enjoyed a fabulous meal here last night. Party of 4 people, we all thoroughly enjoyed it. Food, wine, service all excellent. Linen tableclothes and napkins. Lamb chops were the best we have had anywhere. Food was beautifully presented. Menu was explained in great detail whilst making our choices. Would highly recommend this restaurant. We could not fault it!

I got charged more than prices listed on the menu, even after 10% was apparently taken off for collection, so price list is misleading. Food was very nice though thankfully

Lovely food good service and range of beers

My daughter and I had a meal here one evening when we wanted pampering. The quality of food was so good that we decided to book for over the Christmas period while my son was with us. Meantime we had a takeaway when a friend came over to celebrate the solstice with us. This was my husband's first experience of Mustang Masala, and he loved the food. Our meal for 4 last Wednesday was delicious again. The presentation is superb and doesn't disguise indifferent food - it adds to the pleasure of tasting rich, spicy meals. We plan to try the thali one Sunday soon. Keep it up Mustang Masala - your restaurant and takeaway food is excellent!

Lovely curry and plenty of it, chicken sagwala was awesome. Although very busy we didn't wait long, drinks, Pompadoms, starter and main delicious. The staff were very attentive.

Friendly service and fabulous food. The chef knows their stuff - the food was delicious. Our friends use them for takeaway and are always impressed so we booked to eat in and they didn't fail us. They even have a chef-made dessert!

Had takeaway from here a couple of times and thought it was lovely, eaten in tonight with friends and it was even better!

Annual Boxing Day curry. Excellent curry and amazing service. Curry just on the hotter side than we are used to but will definitely be back!!

Came here for Christmas dinner and it was amazing. Really reasonably priced, staff were super attentive and the food was plentiful and tasty. The highlights were Achari chicken starters, mustang lamb and the aloo gobi. Personally they made my chilli chicken hotter and I loved it.

Very disappointed! The meals, both the korma and the tikka masala were all water and very little meat.

1st time for ordering for delivery, food was hot and the chips was NOT soggy. Everytime we order any food from other places something isn't hot enough and the chips are always soggy. Will defo order from here again ... thanks highly recommend

Must admit we hadn't visited this restaurant for quite a while. We saw in the local magazine that it had changed hands. We fancied an Indian meal early evening and rang in for a take away. The gentleman who answered was very polite and professional. 15 mins later. I picked it up. When arriving the guy was really friendly and spoke about the place - and the food. It was a lovely meal. First time trying MM tonight. We had a take away but I called in earlier to pick a menu up. The chap there spent around 10 minutes going through the menu with me and explained what could be made vegan and what couldn't, which I really appreciated. We ordered around an hour later and the food was delicious. My husband had a chicken rogan josh which he really enjoyed. Will definitely use MM again.

Oh my goodness. This place is just fantastic. I've never tasted anything like it. Everything was so tasty and delicious , the chicken melted in your mouth, the whole meal was really good cannot fault it. Ordered a take away to try it out, sadly we were very disappointed with the quality of the food. Very bland with little flavour and although 10% discount is offered on collections over £20 nothing was applied. As newly opened I expected the decor to have been updated but it’s the same as Mahmaan and it still has the same carpet that’s been there for the last 10 years !! For this place to survive it needs a complete refurb and the quality of food on offer has to improve massively. I’ve eaten in many Indian restaurants and this experience is one of the worst.

Very nice meal, more akin to Anoki style than the old Mahmaan. Certainly a big improvement. Despite what others have implied the place has been cleaned up dramatically and the food is several steps up. Recommended!

Just had a king prawn bhuna. Very tasty but probably the spiciest bhuna I've EVER had 😓 bhuna is supposed to be mild. Hate to think what their madras is like. And they need to put cans of soda on the menu. Small glass bottles of coke is 2.50 😮 scandalous. Would have given 5 stars but too spicy and no drinks menu.

I bought Lamb Chops today. Lambchops so juicy and so tasty. I'm a Software Engineer I have travelled many part of the World. Never tasted something like this guys. Taste is next Level. I'm going to try all recipes in coming days. Nice Ambience. Good Price

Our first meal at the newly opened Mustang Masala was really good. The food was excellent and the staff friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend this Indian restaurant.
