The food was cold when it arrived

chicken bhuna with no chicken and curry sauce like water both with poor taste. they can make great curry but chose not to.

The food was not very warm and it was lacking in flavour and taste. We have had several Curry's from here in the past and have been brilliant but this time the food was terrible

Let down….lamb dish was in the bin after 2 mouthfuls of rock hard meat, dry and couldn’t enjoy ! Prawn starter was great as was the special naan.

Absolutely beautiful curry, madras was best I’ve had for a long time. Asked for no Coriander in the 2nd curry, and they actually read the order & NO CORIANDER written on it. Highly recommend

I don’t normally do reviews, but this is the worst takeaway I’ve ever ordered! All the meat was dry, almost to the point of bin and edible. I just can’t understand how you turn out to takeaway like this and expect to keep on trading!

Unlicensed so bring your own, food was fantastic, service was really efficient. Toilet facilities need updating, would highly recommend the restaurant though

The worst butter chicken masala ever, taste like very sweet shradded coconut with chicken, not a pudding and not a main. Awful combination.Such a shame I had really high expectations and it was such a disappointment 😔

A lovely friendly restaurant, excellent food & service. Parking could be an issue, but we were lucky to be able to park right outside. No alcohol is serviced, but there is an off licence next door, so problem solved. We will certainly go again.

Guys, you need to put garlic chilli chicken tikka on the menu…..just gorgeous and you’ll get loads of orders. Been many too end restaurants and they all offer this amazing dish 😘😋

Last night we ordered via UberEats and due to an error, we were waiting >2hrs for our food. As soon as Bay Leaf realised there was an issue, they apologised sincerely, explained what happened, cooked us fresh food and sent a driver out to us straight away. Gave us a refund and even offered us 50% off our next order. Turned around what could have been an incredibly annoying situation - issues happen and nobody can ever get things right all the time, but it’s how they’re dealt with and this was dealt with incredibly well. Got to give credit where it’s due when a business/restaurant places such importance on customer service. Thankyou! Food was brilliant when it arrived as well.

The food took 40 minutes from when I received a notification to say iit was on its way, all the food was cold when it arrived. I called the restaurant and spoke to a very friendly man who advised to request the refund through just eat

So after choosing this restaurant for the first time- as the waiting time was the least. I ordered. Expected to receive between 8:40 and 9. At 8:40 I got the “on the way” message. Then just before 9 I got the “enjoy your meal” message. I called the restaurant who said it was Just Eat sometimes sends messages when it’s not true. So then the delivery time went to 9:20. At 9.20 it still didn’t arrive. At 9:25 the driver arrived and when I asked him what time he left the restaurant he said “1 hour”

ordering was great, rang up 11min after it was due to arrive and told its 2 min away rang back after a further 20min and was told it would be 5min. heard them say something about somone clicking done on the order before it was deliverd. finaly arived about 40+ min after the delivery time. Food tasted ok but it was all cold,had to reheat it in the microwave. very upsetting

Curry far too much spice/heat for a Rogan Josh & chips were hard/overcooked. Not as good as previous orders.

Oooo, chicken was so rubbery and dry could barely eat ! You cut it to thin ! The famous garlic keema chilli naan were amazing though. Prawn cocktail starter always perfect. Bit let down tonite from my No1 takeaway !

We have been here a number of times and it’s always been ok, not Anoki or even Tandoori Nights standards but local so walkable. The chicken tikka was so dry it was inedible, they replaced it with shashlik but it had sauce in it which don’t like so only had a bit of it. Chips were also dry and tasteless, think they had sat under heat for a while. Tikka normally comes with salad but it didn’t. We asked for some but didn’t get any. The portion sizes seem to have shrunk, my husbands curry was only a 1/4 of the small dish and the rice was half the size of other places. The naan breads were good though. Our bill was 71.89 so we gave them £70 which they were not happy with and moaned about it! Thought this was more than fair for poor quality, small portions of food. Won’t go again.

Incomplete order, and then implied I was lying when I rang to advise of a missing item. Terrible customer service and management of a complaint. The quality of the food I received made a bad experience worse. Would not recommend.

The Chicken Balti was awefull. We ordered two different curries on previous visit and they tasted exactly the same. We thought we'd give them the benefit of the doubt, but were again disappointed. Definitely won't order from there again.

Our curry was swimming in oil not very enjoyable

Curry was extremely greasy (special balti) meat was very average, special rice was clumpy and tasted random… naan and chips were ok, poppadom was the best bit

Normally pretty good from here,but this time it was awful, don’t know what happened but it wasn’t just one thing it was the whole meal…chicken was dry and hard to chew, very thick gloopy sauce on both curries, nan bread was doughy even the dips were very bland definitely will not be ordering again.

Perfect but my special keema, garlic, chilli naans were amazing and need to be on the menu.

Ordered a takeaway , 1 hour 20 mins was promised for delivery ! 2 hours later I’m still waiting ! Rang the restaurant to be told it will be with you in 10 minutes! And promised a phone call the following day!

Just called in to Bay Leaf on the off chance they had a table for us, on the way home after a night in the pub. We’ve recently had a couple of delicious takeout deliveries from them, because we’re not happy with the quality of Our local Indian restaurant in Shardlow anymore - (having been customers of theirs for years). At Bay Leaf my Husband had Lamb tikka sashlik, then a ‘chef special’ that had lamb meatballs in. I had a king prawn Karahi. All 3 dishes were cooked to perfection and of good quality produce, the staff were so friendly and helpful and the premises were spotless. Well done to all the staff for this little gem of a restaurant - you deserve every success!

Food came early, hot and fresh. I ordered the chicken tikka masala as it didn’t specify it had coconut in it on the menu and we both only like it when it doesn’t have coconut in… but it was loaded with it unfortunately. Also, ordered a lamb bhuna but the meat in it was not lamb but beef. The food was still nice , just not what we ordered or expected. Bit disappointing.

We had used another well known local Indian restaurant for decades but became gradually more disappointed with inconsistent food, poor quality, diminishing portions (less meat content etc) and unjustified price hikes - this new (recommended) place, the bay leaf, was new to us until a month back and the food is both authentic and fabulous quality - very, very pleased and it will remain our ‘go to’ option hereafter.

Again, great quality, the food was adjusted to how we wanted it and great portions. Best curry I've had in years.

Not sure what happened here. My first curry from you (mixed tawa) was superb and full of flavour; one of the best curries I've had (I did leave a 5* review for that), whereas this one was mediocre at best. I hate leaving negative reviews but feel it needs to be done here. Prawn puree was ok but the special mixed balti was quite bland. It had no heat whatsoever, almost like someone had forgot to put the chilli in, and the supposedly tangy sauce wasn't tangy at all. The prawn puree did at least have a little heat. Am wondering if the regular chef was on holiday?

The curry was not nice, it was so oily and didn’t taste like curry sauce. Rice and naan were ok as were chips

Not as nice as usual. The curry was cold and the rice was mushy.

Ordered meal for two, mushroom rice was missing from the order, otherwise the rest of the order was good.

We always order from Bay Leaf, the foods always awesome. Never anything missing, always fresh and hot, and if we want to modify a dish it's never an issue. Great quality and quantities.

Naan was lovely but the curry wasn't very nice. Not much taste and definitely had better.

Great little curry house, we have eaten in and had takeaway on many occasions and never been disappointed. The restaurant does get very loud, possibly some soft furnishings like curtains could dampen it but still a very enjoyable experience.

Full marks. Spicy as requested, very tasty, and friendly staff to top it off.

1st time ordering from here, I'll just say never again, should of stuck to my usual Mogal green lane.

Zero Star. Food Taste was horrible. not a fresh food looks like a made it two weeks ago. i never recommend anyone and never order again.

Delivery was perfect also one meal . But unfortunately my chicken Jalfrezi was so hot I found unpleasant to eat . I’ve had dozens of these in the past from other restaurants and know that they are hot but this one was way over the top . Maybe it was a one off but I’m still burning two hours later . Sorry I’m not one for complaining but it was not pleasant.
