Lathams of Broughton in Preston

Bought a sandwich for lunch from Lathams - it was prepared in the kitchen as one wasn't already in the cabinet. It wasn't too bad - although its was 2.30pm and I think whatever lettuce was left in the kitchen was dumped on my sandwich........went in the bin

I bought two prawn mayonnaise sandwiches from the Hutton shop yesterday along with other things. The amount of mayonnaise was ridiculous with hardly any prawns on it. We had to bin them they were dreadful. The rest was fine but won’t be purchasing sandwiches again !

Hadn’t been to Lathams for lunch for months due to COVID but decided to try it again. Sandwich was okay but the tomato slices on the sandwich as part of the salad were about half an inch thick....... Really need to start taking more care with what they’re serving. Also such a miserable woman serving the day I went in. If you don’t like people, don’t get a customer facing job - simples!

Got a cheese and onion pie at 14.00 today lady nuked it bone hard filling dry only realised when I got home otherwise I would have returned it probably been there since 6am beware

Lathoms at the best of times is a bit of rip of, especially the pies giving different names,but the same filling in the meat based ones,and not cheap.Today bought an egg custard,a large one,which has been made smaller, obviously to make up money lost during lockdown, ripping customer s off.

They say the sign of a good shop is service, the sign of a very good shop is the way the handle a problem, I had a slight problem with my afternoon tea.One item missing, lathoms decided they should deliver another afternoon tea the following day. Wow! This is customer service and then some. The food as always spot on. Can’t recommend lathoms Fulwood high enough. Mistakes here are rare,but the way it was handled was fantastic. Thank you

Please note that this review is based upon their Hutton, Preston branch. I had ordered a no. of items including, cakes, desserts and quiches and collected them at the appointed time. Eventually the staff found all the items and they helped to load up the car for me. At the party, my guests were raving about all the items though we still had enough over to indulge ourselves for quite a while after the party (some items having been put in the freezer). Would highly recommend them. Please note also that they make some for the famous Booths supermarket both under the supermarket's own brand as well as Lathams brand. Staff were very helpful in my choices.

Haven't bought from here for a while and decided to try one last time......Girls behind the counter with only a bun in a hair net (pointless)? False eyelashes which in themselves are a hygiene issue - but worse than that one girl is chewing gum??? And then the food. Sausage and egg baton - ok if you like a solid egg yolk and the white burnt to a frazzle. For the prices you charge you really need to sort out your hygiene and quality of the food you send out of that kitchen

I have always really enjoyed Lathams cakes but I will not buy their cakes anymore. I have bought flapjacks, Rainbow Cake and coffee and raspberry renoirs in three separate occasions from Booths, the Hutton shop and Barton Grange and none of them tasted as fresh or as good as they used to. Their prices are still expensive. Such as shame as Lathams were known for their quality and I didn’t mind paying for that.

I must stop going here - bought a jacket potato with cheese and coleslaw. Hardly any cheese at all and about a spoonful of coleslaw for 75p a topping. Really poor

Just purchased and tried to eat a coffee Renoir . Absolutely very dissatisfied. Why have you changed them. The topping on mine was inedible it was as hard as a rock. I bought at Hutton shop . All in all very disappointing.

I know this is a very busy establishment but to find what I think is an inch long piece of plastic/paper/wrapping in my soup is just not acceptable. Some of the back room staff also need to ensure that their appearance is acceptable to customers - I know whites can't stay white but the state of the ones I see here are disgraceful. I won't be going here again anytime soon

Just spent £25.00 in the shop of which a boxed vegetable frittata salad was for me.The salad was old, slimy and deffinately not fresh. When I phoned to let them know I was told it had probably been sat on the side for a while. I’m so dissapointed, won’t be going back and refused the refund. Not the shop it used to be. Hope my builders enjoyed their treat!

I’ve had some very nice lunches from Lathams - some adequately priced and some completely over the top price wise..... £4.15 for a prawn sandwich? £4 for a jacket potato? Special burrito was great and a fair price but asda will do most days! Most recently though I’ve been disappointed with tepid jacket potatoes - they should be steaming hot!!!

We had 2 butter pies which were amazing, a steak bake and a meat and potato pie. All the pies were brilliant! Cakes from here are also good. There’s not much room to sit in, more of a take away kind of place. Would return!

I regularly visit here when needing either cakes or sweets. the range and quality is very good indeed. Can suffer from slow service at busy times - avoid lunchtimes, which are popular with the local businesses. A few tables outside for those brave enough to endure the normal Preston weather.

Very disappointed today! I asked for 2 butter pies, i was presented with 2 very over baked (almost black), sunken looking pies, couldn't believe they were actually selling then in that state, i'd have binned them first! Ended up with 1 steak and 1 mince and onion, which were awful, pastry was overcooked and dry. The cakes were okish, but have halved in size and prices gone up. Nowhere near the quality they used to be when they were a small local bakers in Broughton, got too big for their boots now, churning out poor quality products in bulk and the staff are miserable...won't be going again!

I visited latham today my partner had a sausage and bacon sandwich which he stated was perfect ,I had a salad box with sliced cheese which I initially though would be small however all the ingredients were fresh tomatoes very sweet crunchy peppers n lettice and good portion of cheese I was given the choice of salad cream or mayo..thouroughly enjoyed it..we received our food within 2 mins the person serving was Lynn.Y who was absolutely pleasant very good customer skills thank you very much Lynn. The choices of cakes were out of this world ..cannot recommend this place enough...pleasant staff ,fresh food..amazing service.Thank you

Sadly I have to say, the quality of food has gone down considerably. Orders are usually wrong...salad without onions is not a groundbreaking request yet still time and time again it has been delivered with onions. Sadly you dont get a chance to check and to be routing trough salad to check for onions is not really my thing either..Salads have seen better days as they dont seen to be very fresh and soups are mostly without good seasoning. I used to love this place as working round the corner but today after yet another wrong salad order I think I will stay away. Considering the cost of the food its not worth the money anymore.

For many years we have always been supplied with the family’s birthday cake. These are made to order and for many years have been fantastic. Supplied also all the other things to go with party food Maori cakes, pie’s everything made and presented to an excellent standard. Looking forward to our next birthday party.

We have been customers for many years when Latham’s were at Broughton. Now with more meal options and greater variety and space to park it’s not a problem making an effort to CaxtonRoad. Quality is their watchwords and they never disappoint.

Been going to the shop on Caxton Road on a regular basis but the face to face customer service seems very poor now. The attitude of staff seems careless and overall disappointed with their general approach. The company had built a great reputation for politeness and good customer care but, will not be going in again.

Even although we email through our breakfast order it is very rarely correct. Shame as good very good but customer service lacking. Was advised to call in order as better for them. Who's the customer here, we email it in as if they cannot get it correct in writing what chance have they got just calling it through. Counter assistant hasn't got a clue and not helpful. Need to get someone with some service skills and helpful. Also quite often lunch sandwiches are ordered in the shop and these are wrong too. Sort yourself out as great products but poor service.

A great selection of cakes from individual portions to a full gateau. Their Coffe Renoir is so moreish!!!! Local workers can get wonderful fresh sandwiches there too. If you cnat get here Booths Stores and Barton Grange stock a selection of products.

I am writing about two recent experiences regarding the purchase and supply of celebration cakes. Back in January we selected and purchased a birthday cake for our daughters 40th birthday. The cake was really well made and was ready in time for our daughters birthday. Everyone was impressed with the Ferrero Rocher cakes looks and quality. Recently on Monday 11th Sept i went into the shop to order a cake for my partners 60th Birthday informing them that i required the cake for Monday 18th Sept. I was informed that my selection was limited so i selected a basic cake and was told it should be ready by Mon 18th from midday and they would be in touch by test. I had a couple of phone calls during the week to which i responded to. When i rang them back on 3 separate occasions, they said they did not know who wanted to speak to me. I went back into the shop on Friday 15th Sept and was abruptly told there was no chance the cake would be ready as they had 50 cakes to make & they were short staffed. They said they had been trying to ring me and could not get hold on me – I said that had rang them back three times but she took no notice saying sorry and they could make it for later in the week which was a ridiculous comment. Why was my order accepted & why was i given false hope. This gave me no chance to organise a cake from another supplier so i was very angry, cancelled my order and left the shop.

Spotted a van pulling out of Caxton road and remembered about lathoms being at three bottom of the road.

Lovely cakes, had a sandwich here to, loads of filling and salad. Staff friendly and often free samples on counter to try. Making this a regular haunt of mine

Lathams is famous for excellent food at very high quality. As a family we have used Lathams for many years now and have only ever had perfect service and product from them.
