Well honestly I cannot review the quality of the food or drinks, because we didn’t have any. But I can retire the quality of the staff.My wife and I were in Cheltenham helping with work on my sons and his partner’s property. The Lansdown is the closest eating establishment to their property in Tivoli. Upon arrival we found a table , the time was about 19:45. As one of our party is Gluten free, I went to the bar , to ask if they had a gluten free menu. A staff member happily passed me a menu. Having all chosen our dishes, I again returned to the bar area to order. The time by my watch was 20:01. The same staff member , looking very sheepish, said sorry food finished at 20:00. Firstly if that had been pointed out when the menu was given , we may have order quicker, or we could have decided to try else where . As a regular GreeneKing customer, I found the service totally lacking.

Thank you to everyone at The Lansdowne for your hard work, especially over the past couple of weeks whilst the Euros have been on. There have been times when the whole pub, inside and out, has been absolutely full of people and your staff worked tirelessly to serve drinks and food throughout. Not only that but it always felt safe, and your brilliant staff team remained friendly and welcoming throughout. Well done team, and thank you x

This was out first visit to a Greene King pub and will be our last. Ordered half chicken roast dinner for two, no stuffing, pink chicken, large plate filled with a Yorkshire and two pots of gravy. Chicken pale and tasteless, roast potatoes pale and greasy, undercooked carrots and a measly portion of cabbage. On offering feedback offered free drink but refused, a bad meal is a bad meal cannoned bought off with a free drink.

I normally pop into the Lansdown after work as a chef to unwind. I came in today to see over 100 people who had just finished their exams and the usual signed shirts ritual Even though I’m a regular I waited my turn and the two people behind the bar James & Molly were working so well together getting through the crowds. It took a little longer because they were quite rightly checking a lot of id’s The reason for this review is to say thanks and well done to James, Molly, Jordan and then Lilly and GM Dave who arrived at 5 • and this visit was unannounced - thanks to you all for your professionalism under pressure. Love the Lansdown - it has nailed the two most important things! Great beers and really friendly, happy staff. Top management team too really make coming here over other local pubs an easy choice!

This pub has definitely gone down hill! Absolutely awful food & service! Waited nearly an hour for a sandwich, when it did arrive it was highly disappointing, stale bread, filled with rocket and barely any other filling. Chips were stone cold. Absolute rip off for what we were served! Miserable unwelcoming staff.

Realty poor food. I had the”awarding winning steak pie” hunt the steak! Pastry like rock, mushy peas being warmed up previously. Asked for some mint sauce . Didn’t have any! Total waste of £12.95! 😡

Cheltenham festival - always busy - not a problem at Lansdown. Service - fast and efficient and absolutely incredible atmosphere - drinks - dancing - what more could you ask for? Thanks all for a cracking night

I had the Katsu chicken burger and my wife had scampi. Both beautifully cooked and presented well. The staff were very welcoming and friendly, showing attention to detail. We will certainly be back - very impressed.

We ordered 3 burgers they were dry but edible. Coleslaw had no sauce. There was rosemary on chips, and the plate was chipped. Felt like chef didn’t care. Waitress was ok. Would expect better from a green king pub

Truly excellent spirit selection which is well presented and easy to find that perfect tipple. Heaters that work and keep those who smoke or want to sit outdoors warm and cosy. Brilliant bar staff who are helpful and knowledgeable and will make your drink as you like it. Friendly staff who are attentive and keep the place clean. This is a great pub to socialise and meet people, everyone is welcome and if you want a quiet nook to drink and be alone they have that and plenty of open space too. Genuinely excellent venue.

Had a great time watch the rugby came in to grab some grub, the place was lively, and great staff to customer interaction.

Friendly local pub with great food! Dog friendly and also allows snacks for dogs while you’re sat eating yourself. Would highly recommend.

We reserved a table for a family meal and found our table clearly marked. Sat down, checked out the menu and ordered at the bar. Staff were very friendly and efficient. Food was served promptly and was delicious. The Rarebit burger was very filling and so tasty. We were checked on while eating which was nice. Very impressed given the reasonable price, we will be back no doubt.

Myself and my husband just had a weekend break and went to the landsdown pub on Friday 13 August for a drink. The venue is great but the staff are what made us go back on Saturday night. We had dinner on Saturday and the food was lovely. We used the app when outside to order drinks Both nights and the service was so quick. I would like to say though a big thank you to the bar staff and manager they are fantastic what a great team

Came here with the mrs, just wanna give a massive shoutout to the lads who I think are security, even the fella by the toilets. All very polite as good as any staff. Could have them serving drinks and kicking blokes out. Top lads.

Visited the Lansdown pub for a quick pint but ended up staying for three, the staff are superb and the app was really easy to order.

Had an evening with friends in this charming pub and I have never felt so welcome and safe. Fully recommend to anyone visiting the area. James in particular was very friendly, helpful and easy to talk to.

Great place for a wee drink. The team are fantastic and made us feel reassured and safe on our visit. I have to mention James who is always such a happy, positive guy, cheers!

We arrived around lunchtime. The staff were very attentive and the place was clean and tidy! Lovely chat with bar staff. We ordered our food and everything was lovely and hot! Will defo be coming back again soon!!

We booked a table here and found that we couldn’t fit 5 people round it so moved to another table. I was relieved to be seated elsewhere as the wall behind my head was covered in mould and flaky plaster! Not pleasant. The food was tasty and service friendly albeit a bit slow. Repairs need to be implemented as food should not be served in conditions like this.

We decided to pop in for a late lunch because we'd missed having some earlier. So glad we did! Staff were helpful and friendly. All was Covid safe / friendly. Great atmosphere (despite the workmen watching the horse racing!). Food was delicious. We're hoping to move within walking distance of here so looking forward to it becoming our new local.

Amazing members of staff, very friendly and have been AMAZING since reopening attending people’s needs! Lovely location and would recommend the lansdown to ANYONE! Our Host Mackensie was absolutely outstanding and had the most amazing customer service. Olly was really helpful and tended to our every needs. We felt very welcome and they meet our needs perfectly.... we loved having some heating. Honestly can’t praise how well Mackensie was at customer service and can’t wait to return with this type of service. Mackensie and Olly deserve some recognition!! Will definitely be returning soon! Absolutely loved it

So glad to be back!. Went for light bite and a few drinks had such a lovely time, although the weather was hit and miss kenzi kept us entertained and was extremely attentive ! We will be back soon for more Prosecco and hopefully sun

Came into the pub with a group of my mates to watch the football unfortunately the game was postponed. How we were so disappointed it was quickly brightened up with the staff. A VIP like service from all of the staff working there hardest to keep the busy garden happy. The women with glasses and the short male were extremely welcoming and helpful thankyou both for a great night.

good service, nice pub (reasonably priced) all bar one female member of staff (short hair) said it was a ‘ball ache’ when we asked to pay separately. we were rather disappointed when this happened, however the rest of the staff showed exceptional service skills and were very pleasant. 3/5 ⭐️

A fantastic pub in a perfect location. A wide range of seating for those who aren’t in the same house hold. The pub seemed quiet when we arrive which changed in a flash. But the team’s efforts made it so no one was waiting over 5 minutes like the rest of the pubs in the area. Perfect serving from a team. Thankyou for welcoming us in during this hard time.

Came here for the United vs Leeds game Oh! what a great atmosphere this pub. A mixer of fans around the pub cheering for each team. Even the staff getting involved with the customer which is great to see in this age of time. Food was amazing highly recommend the Katsu burger for that kick of spice. I love the substantial food calculator you guys have made a great laugh! Been here a few times for a bite to eat, they never disappoint! Tried one of their festive burgers this time as it seemed different and I was not disappointed! Went down nicely with a glass of merlot!

Fantastic and clean! I visited after having a long day at university as I was hungry and wanted a pint. Upon my visit I was greeted by friendly staff who explained how the pub operates and found me a comfy table. A young lady called Devon set my up a tab at the bar and took my food and drink orders. The drinks arrived amazingly fast and the food was almost as quick! Would definitely recommend this place to my family and all of my student friends!

The lansdown has always been a hidden gem for years. I hadn’t been here for years and how I’ve missed out of some delicious treats. I do recommend the meatless farm burger for those who are vegetarian or vegan !!They have done some serious great work with keeping the appearance up. A nice touch with the autumn theme btw!!If you are worried about covid don’t be because the lansdown have it covered by a tee. Thankyou for making us feel safe and welcome. You guys are doing a fantastic job keep it up.I definitely recommend this bar with a massive ten out of ten rating! Do go and you will not be disappointed!!

Fui al Lansdown en Cheltenham ayer por la noche y puedo decir honestamente que fue la noche más agradable que he tenido en un pub desde el cierre. Se sentía completamente limpio y seguro, la comida era excelente y uno de los miembros del personal de recepción, Jess, me recomendaba algunas de sus fantásticas ginebras a mí y a mis amigos. ¡Recomendaría las hamburguesas a cualquiera que esté pensando en ir! ! !

Visited today for a quick bite to eat on my way back to the train station, was greeted and checked in by a lovely lady with glasses and shown to a table. The pub was spotless and their app was very easy to use. The Katsu chicken burger is to die for! I will most definitely be returning! Hats off to the landlord for making the pub so welcoming and safe during these difficult times.

He aparecido en el lansdown varias veces desde que terminó el bloqueo. Las medidas que tienen implementadas son realmente fenomenales. Al principio era escéptico, pero después de un cordial saludo por parte del anfitrión y ver todas las medidas adicionales implementadas, me aseguró que este es un lugar seguro para ir. ¡Su monitor pubsafe es una idea fantástica y otros pubs podrían aprender de ellos!

Nunca antes había estado en este pub y no me decepcionó lo fantástico que es. Hay una amplia variedad de asientos disponibles y una gran taberna al aire libre en la parte delantera en la que puede sentarse y ver pasar el día. Me recibió una chica en el jardín que hizo un trabajo perfecto sentándome y haciendo un seguimiento y rastreo. El pub tiene una selección fantástica de comida más grande y fui por un Pravha y el pescado y patatas fritas, que era increíble, ¡no puedo decir una mala palabra al respecto! Tuvimos una larga espera debido al personal mínimo debido al efecto visrus, pero el personal de guardia fue excelente.James era el gerente de turno y tenía el control y la atmósfera tranquila, Kenzie fue un gran miembro del personal que interactuó con todos y una buena interacción con todos los clientes, manteniendo a todos informados debido a la larga espera. Sentí lástima por Jon, el chef, ya que era el único chef en la cocina, pero la calidad de los alimentos producidos fue realmente buena. Visited the pub last night for food and drink. Sat outside. Ordered on the app. Very easy. Delicious food and delivered in a timely manner. My daughter loves nachos and they did not disappoint. Some of the nicest she has had. Unfortunately didn’t get the waitress name but she was amazing. Couldn’t do enough and exceptionally polite. Great place.

The sun is shining and the Music and thatchers is sweet!..on arrival it seemed too busy myself and friend were unsure about getting a table as it was peak service time weren’t disappointed Greeted by a lovely man kenzi who sat us in the non smoking area and moved us as quickly as he could as we needed the breeze. There was a lovely young lady cleaning and sanitising the toilets as I arrived to freshen up. The young lad at the Bar Dylan was polite and quick at service. We ordered online it was easy and the food was delicious Devon the new waitress on her first shift was polite and very attentive nothing was too much Emily provided great service too will definitely be back Thankyou landsdown for great service the manager James is clearly looking after you’re safety x

Had a lovely visit to the Lansdown, our first pub visit for what feels like forever. The team have made everything feel super clean and safe since all the new measures have come into force. Social distancing is easy to follow and everyone seemed to be sticking to the rules. The manager Dave was really welcoming and put our minds at ease about the new normal, we will definitely be back!

Came along for some pub grub and some beers. The food was good and the price was reasonable. Olivia served us and she was very good.We would like a different cider though as Thatchers is such a mediocre cider! Beer and gin selection also good.

Really not happy with the service here. Came with some friends and took me 5 minutes before the bar staff bothered to even serve me, they stood there chatting with another customer. I asked for a pint of carling, and was given a bloody Carlsberg! Food took 40 minutes to arrive, and to top it off, they got the order wrong! Fuming! Staff looked completely uninterested and were more interested in chatting at the end of the bar than serving customers. I won’t be returning and I advise others to do the same.

Went for a Sunday roast which was lovely! Nicely cooked and lots of veg and a good Yorkshire pudding. Nice relaxed atmosphere and very friendly, attentive staff and a great selection of gins!

Booked the function room upstairs for my partner's 30th birthday and everything went perfectly. From the initial booking to the actual evening I couldn't fault the service from the whole team. Dave the manager was fantastic, giving great advise and accomodating of everything asked. The function room itself was just perfect, plenty of space plus it's own bar and toilets. Would hugely recommend the Lansdown to anyone planning a party. Thank you very much!

We drop in here regularly after work when we've had a busy day and can't be bothered to cook for ourselves. The menu has a wide variety of pub grub - all very reasonably priced and served very quickly. Food is not Haute Cuisine but we've never had a bad meal there. There is a great choice of beers here too. If you're into rugby, football, cricket or golf there's usually something of interest being shown on the many satellite TV screens. It sometimes gets very busy early -mid evening but the staff seem very accomodating and friendly even then.

There are many screens to watch various sports shown here, the food is good for the price but beer is slightly over priced. Would recommend for any sports event but if you want a quiet meal with amazing service, not for you.

Fabulous food and the team were very attentive and looked after us so well creating a lovely festive atmosphere and all beautifully decorated. An excellent Christmas Day! We came to Cheltenham for the weekend by train and stumbled across the pub on our way into town, so we decided to try it out for lunch before we started shopping.It was very busy with a nice atmosphere.We were greeted with a warm welcome from the staff who were coping very well with an issue behind the scenes, which didn't affect the great customer service we received with calmness and a smile. The food was great when it arrived. Well Done! We will definitely return next time we visit Cheltenham .

Wow! Held our Xmas party for the second year running in the ballroom of the Lansdown last Friday! Dave, Hayley and the team pulled out all the stops with the layout and decoration to make it a night to remember.. Special thanks to the very forgiving bar staff who worked tirelessly during the event to keep us fed and watered! A very professional team.. we’ve already booked next year’s party!

Had a weekend in Cheltenham, wanted to watch the boxing...and recommended to try the Lansdown....popped up to book a table and Dave the manager offered us a table right at the front....turned up a few hours later and table kept free for us....great atmosphere and Dave kept an eye out for us; moving a couple of people who were blocking the view...great experience and would thoroughly recommend

I come here quite often. The staff are brilliant, they know how to have a good laugh and the local community is so nice as I don’t see this as often I I used to. Great work from them all they are definitely making some good changes here!

Excellent service in this pub, really friendly staff, food was great, allow dogs and offer dog treats which not many other pubs offer

Popped in recently with the intention of having a few drinks and something to eat... used to enjoy coming here but not any more, it smelt of stale beer and two dogs were in the bar area, barking and not on leads and being allowed to roam around. Really not sure what has happened at this pub recently but will not be getting my custom again.

The Lansdown team were fantastic. White tablecloths were put in all the tables and we added table decorations and balloons. My band had no problem setting up, when we werent there to meet them. The 2 girls running the bar were absolutely fantastic!

stopped here after a stupidly long train journey, happened to be Man Utd v Arsenal showing, superb atmosphere and decent service, didn’t experience anything like the recent reviews, and yes we did eat (went for the burger) good portions, hot and no wait on food - perhaps we just got lucky!!! but after chatting to some of the bar staff, they give the impression they are trying hard too turn the corner - good luck to them

Absolutely shocking, food well, tuna and cheese melt, spot the cheese, bearing in mind we are the only customers, according to the chef that is the correct amount??? Apoarently the Manager is on his lunch, so much for customer service!!

We (my theatre company - at least 10 of us) Normally turn up with about 10 minutes of service left, Hayley always greets us with a smile and serves us, can’t argue, Dayman, fighter of the Nightman.

Used this bar quite often to meet friends, but have to say most unprofessional bar staff ever. haven't got the patients to pull a decent pint, busy or not ,so you get short measures, drinks banged on bar like a pot of sloops normal spilling froth over top of glass. If you ask for top up to fill the pint which you're paying for you're treated with tuts, eye rolling and their manner makes you fell like a criminal, so you just keep quiet and accept what you get, probably an intentional practice, service you would expect at pop festival bar

Went for lunch today (11.06.2019). A few meals were ordered, three of which were two hunters chicken and a cheesecake (to be delivered at the same time as the mains)

Had dinner here with a couple of friends and there was a small girl who asked us if we needed more drinks, ended up talking to her and she was so nice! The team were all very smiley and nothing seemed an issue for them! Will be returning

Wanted somewhere with outside seating as the weather was lovely. Popped in for a quick lunch, the staff were pleasant and the food was great for the price. We managed to get it all quickly and the drinks were fairly priced. Only reason points are lost is the lack of care of the building and outdoor seating (tear in umbrellas, holes in chairs etc)

My friends and I popped in for a quick drink and had a gaze at the menu and the salt beef burger caught my eye. What a filling and tasty burger! Service was amazing staff are so friendly even when it’s busy. Great value for money! I’ll definitely visit again!

Habíamos asistido a la reunión vespertina de la carrera en Cheltenham y queríamos ver Everton v Burnley en la televisión antes de tomar el tren a casa que tanto quería en algún lugar cerca de la estación. El Midland Hotel, frente a la estación, no tenía Sky TV, por lo que recomendaron The Lansdown 5-10 minutos por la calle.

Had a roast at the Lansdown a while back & it was lovely..big pile of delicious & well cooked food and friendly staff. Living just round the corner it’s a convenient choice for me & for that reason, and in the hope of a delicious roast, I decided to go there with a friend for a belated birthday lunch.

It seems to me that the Lansdown are doing the absolute minimum when it comes to their roast dinners. I visited with a friend on Sunday and ordered two nut roasts. I have to say this is the third time I’ve been disappointed by their food but I live in hope so thought I’d give it a go. Wish I’d followed my instincts.

Family of 14 visited for a family birthday on a Saturday evening at 7.00.

What a shame this pub could be excellent if they had enough staff. Went to watch the rugby and it was packed, but only two members of staff working. The two members of staff were serving and running food even if there had been five more staff they would still have been stretched to cope. I felt so sorry for them as they tried their hardest. We ordered food and it took over a hour and a half to arrive and when it arrived it was awful, but as we had waited so long could not be bothered to wait any longer. Shame on this brewery for not putting enough staff on absolutely pathetic.

We visited this pub, not for the first time, early one lunchtime. We were greeted in a friendly manner without having to wait for attention. Louise was amiable and nothing was too much trouble, even when asked for an alternative glass for drinks. We ordered lunch which was delicious and wisely priced. Each time we have eaten here the food has been freshly prepared and tasty. It should be noted, that this pub is a Sports viewing venue and you have a television screen in all directions adjacent to tables. If this set up is not for you please be aware of the circumstances and the atmosphere, especially if live football or rugby matches are being televised.

The pub is located slightly out of the town centre so I was surprised at how busy and popular it is. I had the wagyu burger and my friends had the hunters chicken and a lasagne. The food was pretty good and we were served by the most beautiful dark haired barman who was very helpful and polite. Thank you for a lovely evening!

I turned up to watch the rugby with some friends. From the outside The Lansdown looked quite prepared for this: they’d setup a large outdoor screen and a lot of people had turned up to watch the game, filling the bar and all of the seating area outside, enjoying the sunshine. My friends and I had arrived quite a long time before the most popular match but we should have heeded the warning signs: a round of drinks took twenty minutes to order with just two, already quite harassed looking, staff serving. By the time the game kicked off it was practically impossible to get a drink. Half an hour later and the scene was almost comical: a seating area full of irate people wondering where their lunch was and trying to find someone to complain to and a long bar, facing a crowd, five deep, of very unhappy and soon to be ex-customers. At this point we left.

I live in the area and come to the pub to watch sport sometimes. I decided to watch the rugby there on a Saturday afternoon with some friends. Unfortunately i missed the first half completely, because I waited about an hour to get a round of drinks at the bar. The pub was so short staffed that customers were literally getting fed up and leaving. Waiting that long for service is just unacceptable, people will just drink elsewhere.

Very good hospitality from Louise and Alex for coping with an unexpectedly large group of people wanting meals. Meals were good, although a bit of relish would have improved the burgers. Only one guest beer for the real ale drinkers. Very friendly and accommodating.

We had hired the function room for our mums wake, I cannot thank the staff enough, Louise and Jess were amazing and couldn’t do enough for us the food they had provided was lovely, they really managed to give us a personal touch, I would highly recommend as a venue, the room(s) was beautiful.

We were lucky enough to pre-book a table to watch the rugby at the Lansdown yesterday. The new Landlady and staff were really helpful and friendly even though the place was packed. There is a great choice of drinks and food on offer - we had a very tasty burger after the game. Already booked a table for the next game.

Went with mates to watch the game, was nice to have the commentary on for a change. Food and beer were bang on, staff friendly and helpful. Not sure if management has changed but atmosphere seems to have changed for the better. Keep it up!!

Came in to watch the footy. Excellent view, food was good, peroni was bang on .... staff were absolutely fantastic and very acconnodating. We will defintely be back to see the staff, drink the beer and watch the footy!!!

Fui con algunos de mis compañeros para ver el fútbol esta noche, un personal muy amable que era muy servicial y acogedor. Tres de nosotros tuvimos hamburguesas junto con la oferta de bebidas que era genial para tener una comida y ver el juego, la comida era excelente y el personal era muy educado! Preguntó por el comentario que hicieron por nosotros y en general lo pasamos genial! ¡Definitivamente regresaré por las 6 naciones que me dijeron que es un ambiente ocupado y vibrante por parte de uno de los empleados, así que definitivamente volveremos! GRAN pub.

Vengo aquí esta tarde para reunirse con amigos para el almuerzo. Pedimos patatas fritas y gougons de pescado. Tengo que decir que fue asqueroso. ¿Qué tan difícil es hacer chips de queso? Fueron duros, quemados y no comestibles. Muy caro para las bebidas también, que fue un shock porque normalmente era el mejor pub fuera de la ciudad con bebidas a precios razonables. Definitivamente ha ido cuesta abajo en el último año. . . Vergüenza.
