Have been here before and it was OK but since the refurbishment and new manager I can honestly say this place has got exceeding better. The team are very polite and the food was amazing will definitely recommend The manager is a great character and his love of dinosaurs was a great hit with my 3 year old who also loves them

Great improvement to the menu since the last time we visited, the thai-style curry was delicious! The team were really friendly and seemed like they genuinely wanted to be there. We will certainly be back the next time we visit family up there

Always used the Clock Tower never any complaints.But arrived with my family 13 of us to remember my late mum.Arrived 3.30 for a family Sunday roast to be told all roast dinners had been sold there was none left.Had a conversation with the manager who to be honest was very apologetic.But how can a restaurant run out off food.An absolute disgrace.The manager did get abit funny and walked away fron our table.Was going to book for Christmas,not now.

Great little spot worth a visit in the cheltenham countryside would recommend the spicy beef burger with double fries 🍟

Came in for a quiet Monday pub lunch. Good, classic English pub food and friendly service. Also has a nice kids menu with a wide range of options.

Disappointing Sunday lunch. Roast potatoes not cooked - raw in the middle beef was very fatty and served luke warm. Someone in our party had a vegetarian burger with chips which was also luke warm. Not much choice at all for vegetarians. Ran out of chicken by 2pm. Considering this place has had a revamp it needs to up its game if it wants to welcome visitors. Wouldn’t recommend this place and we won’t we be visiting again

Absolutely awful food, child size portions accompanied by an anaemic pig in blanket I wouldn't even serve this to my dog, flat pint and horrendous prices for what it is I WILL NOT BE COMING AGAIN !!.

Beware! You now have to pay to use the Clock Tower car park. If you ignore or are unaware of this, as I was, expect a £100 fine, and I was only being dropped off and picked up - a matter of seconds! Apart from the questionable quality of the food, this charge for parking is another nail in their coffin and a way to add to their already dwindling numbers of patrons.

Food was OK. The waitress was helpful and friendly. There was only a choice of one real ale, but it was a good one.

We go with my parents there regularly. They like the food, and it is easy for them to access the building and get a table. The staff are friendly and polite, there is a reasonable choice of meals at an affordable price. They always have at least one ale on the tap.

I highly recommend The Clocktower to anyone, whether you’re visiting the Cotswolds or looking for a casual meal. I recently visited The Clocktower with a friend during our trip to the Cotswolds, and it was a fantastic experience. The atmosphere is incredibly cozy, and the recent interior refurbishment has created a warm and homely environment. The food was absolutely delicious, with a great variety on the menu, and it was reasonably priced (we spent about £20-£30 per person). The staff made us feel right at home and took excellent care of us! Don’t miss out on this charming spot – it’s perfect for any occasion! Couldn't recommend it more!

I visited with my family and friends last week. We had burger and mixed grilled and all the food was absolutely fabulous! And staffs were also very kind and friendly! And the space was also very spacious and clean.

This PUB is highly-providing very delicious foods and customer services always for all as I believe.

It was good time to me with this restaurant. 👍👍👍 good price and tasteful and large potion 😊 you would be happy with the food and their service.

Nice restaurant- handy for me as I am a member of nearby gym. Prompt service. Ran out of steak so had to have an alternative which was a shame.

Haven't been here for a good few years and won't be going back! Had the Monday special, Pie and a drink. The pie was microwaved but just edible, chips and frozen peas. The drinks on the menu most weren't available, only options available were in their "extra charge" section. Meals were served with a side of what was supposed to be gravy, hmmmm! Yes, that is congealed fat you can see on the top of the coloured liquid that was supposed to be the gravy. So disappointing after having been going here for many years, their Specials board always offered excellent choices. Below average and would not recommend.

We booked our table as it was a Sunday. Greeted by staff and allowed to sit wherever we wished. Ordered the food and drinks from a good menu. It arrived very quickly and was hot and above all delicious. Would recommend a visit.

This was our 1st time visiting the Clock Tower, it was a light lunch for an overnight stay at the Doubletree for 2 x 60th birthday celebrations, there were 4 of us in the group, on arrival the outside looked welcoming, and on entering the restaurant looked light and airy and very clean, the bar are was well stocked and clean & tidy, the bar staff were helpful and polite, ordering was quick and easy as well as payment, The waiter brought all our food out within very reasonable time, and was extremely helpful in getting us sauces etc we asked him to take a photo of us all which he happily to do for us, the whole experience was a lovely chilled few hours we weren't pestered to leave our table as we have been at some other places, the whole experience from start to finish was a nice chilled time and the ambience of the restaurant was welcoming and relaxing, will definitely return. well done to all your staff and management on a truly welcoming pub and excellent food. thank you for starting our weekend off with a bang.

My husband's steak was fatty and chewy and when I told the waitress she said "Oh I'm sorry" and walked off! I asked for chocolate fudge cake with ice cream in a separate bowl but it came together so I sent it back, the till was playing up so it took 10 minutes to pay my bill, overall the food was ok, nothing special

After a poor steak, complaint was handled in a caring & professional manner. Well done. Other food was satisfactory.

Quiet enough to get some food and a drink it the evening. Fair price and good amount of seat options. The younger staff member struggled to find the fries button on the till so said we couldn’t have them, we persisted and had to encourage him to keep looking because it’s on the menu and that’s what I want, he eventually found the button. We visited the following night and the same staff member still couldn’t find the fries button that he found the day before. our encounter with the manager was good but his staff could do with a little more training!

Fish and chips and mushy peas surprisingly very good. The restaurant is what it is.

I was immediately concerned with cleanliness when I saw the front door, which was filthy. It was not busy, yet bar service was slow and no engagement by staff. They were miserable. The food was okay, but the plates and cutlery were filthy. The waitress was lovely and seemed to be the only person in there that cared about her job. I would not recommend and would not go again. Considering it has just been refurbished I was expecting better!!

We decided to go out this evening to celebrate a birthday & wedding anniversary. We were a party of five. Our order consisted of starters and mains. The breaded mushrooms were very over cooked-too crunchy. Three of us had burgers of varying kinds. They were okay. Another order was Doner kebab which had very dried out kebab meat. The other which was a complete disaster was the 8oz aged sirloin steak. I have never seen such an awful looking steak. It cost £15! The waiting staff were pretty good apart from when our mains were brought out, we had to ask for cutlery, which when brought over was just left on the corner of the table. I was very disappointed as it’s not often I eat out with the family. It’s a shame as we are local & it could be a nice place to visit.

Very disappointed! A wasted chance at a new exciting start , food was bland and just warm ,tasted like a microwave roast, staff not interested in anything , not welcomed not asked about meal , not offered dessert or more drinks , atleast there was value when it was buy one get one free and the staff waited your table , now it’s seriously overpriced for what you get ,embarrassed to say we’ve been there , a real shame and others were saying the same sorry 😞

I was very disappointed that my shareholders voucher was declined. It was accepted last year. I won't be returning for food unless this is changed, which is annoying as there's no other Marston's pubs near Cheltenham.

Still the same quality of food disappointed ordered fish and chips, garden peas was literally a teaspoon same as scampi and chips, ordered hunter's chicken , chicken was dried , and we had the smallest onion rings disappointing

A party of 25 for a 60th birthday, four of our party waited and waited for food only to be told that the food app was not working correctly, very disappointed with the service 😑

Have been to the clock tower a few times and the staff are all extremely friendly and inviting the atmosphere is lovely and cosy I've never been on a Sunday before but this Sunday we came in and I ordered the turkey roast which I will say was absolutely beautiful would highly recommend the food and hospitality at the clock tower is always amazing

My parents and I had lunch at the clocktower Mum had hunters chicken and chips, dad had a mixed grill and I had fish and chips. We enjoyed our meal, the fish for me was lovely it had nice batter and the fish was lovely Staff were amazing Paulina was attentive and friendly and worked hard and the chef outdid himself

Staffing and service was very poor

Unfortunately there were a few problems. Due to a severe allergy one member of the party couldn’t eat anything on the menu, the scampi was left as it was very bland, my order came without the peas and another person asked for salad but didn’t get it. Twice we asked for water on the table but that never appeared either.

Literally just left here, was looking forward to a nice roast dinner. I've never ever taken food back roast potatoes undercooked and frozen, came back with mash for me but Yorkshire puddings so over cooked I need a chain saw to cut the things . I'm just gutted to be honest was looking forward to roast 😥

Came for Mother's Day and was quite excited as knew it had been refurbed. Noticed new carpet and paint, other than that it looked the same to me. We all had roast beef. The beef was lovely but overall was very disappointed. The pigs in blankets, that we had to pay almost £6 extra for, were white, I hate that. Please brown them so that they look cooked and appetising. The roast potatoes weren't browned much either. For the price I wouldn't come again for a roast. Pretty poor really. Other places have far better roasts for the same, or less, price. The Yorkshires were like rubber and impossible to cut with a knife - we had to tear at them with our hands! Didn't want to complain in front of my mother as it was Mother's Day. Also, a glass of prosecco or a flower would have been nice as it was Mother's Day! But nothing. I will say that the desserts were really good, although again really overpriced for a pub! The service was the best thing really. Very friendly staff.

Newly refurbished and we attended the preview day today for lunch. What a transformation. The premises are now very smart indeed and more space has been created by the removal of an internal wall. Very tastefully decorated with new flooring and carpets, giving an impression of quality and refinement. We enjoyed a very good Sunday lunch, nicely cooked and plentiful accompanied by very nice pints of beer and lager. Staff is efficient and friendly making our visit a very pleasant one. Good food at a very reasonable price, that'll do nicely.

Came here recently for food and I can honestly say I wasn’t too impressed… Ordered the jacket potato with beans and when arrived had a very poor portions overall especially with the beans. Not one normally to complain on places but for the money I wouldn’t like anyone else to experience a disappointing dining experience such as myself.

Ordered a jacket potato and came with about 3 beans then asked for more cause there was none then they returned with more beans it was such a small amount the whole thing was potato very disappointed also got told off for trying to look at the drinks

We went here for an evening meal while staying locally at The Hilton next door. The food was lovely and served promptly. Being a Marstons Inn we knew that we would get a decent meal for a reasonable price. What did shock us was that they wanted to charge more for an extra dribble of gravy. I don’t know who was more embarrassed, me or the lovely Molly who waited on us. The fact that she had to say we charge extra for extra gravy with the pie is unbelievable.. come on Marstons, pie should be served with lashings of gravy. Not a dribble, that doesn’t even cover the chips…

The tables in the venue are well spaced out giving a nice specious feel to the place. The bar staff although busy they were very friendly and attentive and took all the time needed to deal with my ordering and did not give the feeling of being rushed. Our food order arrived to the table in good time and was nice and hot and tasted great. It was a shame the options to serve different types of coffee was limited due to lack of ingredients for the coffee machine. Overall we had a very pleasant evening.

It was a great night, William was a great server and even did a little bit of table service. Great drinks.

Originally went to the Severn Springs on the outskirts of Cheltenham but it was closed so on the way home, we passed this Marstons pub and decided to try it out. Initial reactions was that it was pretty empty and we had a choice where to sit. Choosing a window corner for a view. We decided on starters and main and went to the bar to order. Mozzarella and Croxton Manor cheddar bites and chicken wings (I opted for the devil relish) as a starter, and the Surf & Turf (ordered medium) with an additional dripping & Merlot sauce and Fish and Chips for main. Ordering drinks, my friend wanted a latte but was told the machine had been broken since Christmas Eve and the only coffee was an espresso or Americano. The cheese bites were supposed to come with rocket and cheeky devil relish with a sprinkling of chives but after almost an 45 minute wait (in an almost empty restaurant) we were given an enamel dish with 3 small cheese disks and nothing with it. The chicken wings came the same way with a pot of relish dumped on top. This is what presentation is? Deciding that we were too hungry to complain, decided to shut up and eat. The food was tasty enough which was a positive factor and hot. Once finished, we waited for our dishes to be taken and our main delivered. After waiting long enough I got up and took the empty dishes to the bar myself while grabbing more drinks. The server looked shocked and quickly uttered that they were about to come over. In the meantime there was a table behind a partition wall who had a loud speaker phone conversation. They obviously decided that the whole restaurant needed to hear both sides of the conversation. Not the restaurants fault but added to the mounting tickle of frustration that was building. Waited another 20 mins and the fish was served. It looked like a great piece of fish that had obviously been hand battered just before frying. The mushy peas though was like a dollop of afterthought being the tiniest amount. Normally dishes would be served at the same time so was a little surprised when the sever said they were just waiting for my peppercorn sauce to be ready to bring the steak out, “I didn’t order peppercorn sauce” I said. “Oh BBQ?” was the reply “um no!” Was mine. “Bourbon?” Getting rather frustrated the answer again was No. “I ordered the dripping and Merlot”. The servers eyes widened and she turned and walked quickly away. The surf and turf turned up about 5 mins later. Initially looking ok, I thought the steak was quite small even for an 8oz and looked very dry. I cut through the centre and it was as medium as the Sahara. I tried to eat a bite but it was so dry and chewy that my friend said I shouldn’t accept it. (I’m not one to complain so was feeling decidedly awkward at this point) but having already waited 90 mins from order, I wanted to at least enjoy what I was given so I took the plate to the bar and showed them. To their merit, they immediately apologised and took my plate to make another. The plate was back pretty quickly with a lovely cooked steak, perfectly medium. Sadly though my friend had almost finished their plate and my sauce was cold. Their tartar sauce was incredibly tasty though and definitely home made. Once food was finished, we were initially going to have dessert but after already been there for almost 2 hours, we decided to not see how long dessert took. We both needed to use the bathroom and both the ladies and gents were pretty under standard. The men’s (I was told) was like it hadn’t been cleaned for weeks with sticky floors and stained toilet bowls, while the ladies was clean to look at, also had sticky floors. Our bill came to £56 which we paid and left. Safely to say, I don’t think we will be returning. It’s a Marstons pub, nobody is expecting Michelin meals, but considering there was only a smattering of other diners, it was slow and generally underwhelming even for a restaurant of this calibre.

19 of us went to the Clock Tower Cheltenham for our Christmas mea1. We found the service slow, and our meal was cold. We were looking forward to our annual treat, so this was very disappointing. As pensioners this was a expense which turned out to be a big disappointment. We had been going to the Clock tower for many year so this came as a surprise of its poor service and uneatable food that was served to us.

Very tired place. Food expensive and food not great. Ordered the sharing chicken wings where I received the starter version. Wine tasted strange and staff weren’t exactly helpful to rectify. Tip.. go to the local fast food restaurant if you want better food at cheaper prices!!

We brought my son wife and 4 children with us we had the most fantastic experience ever the food was great service exceptional very good with the children they couldn't do enough for us a big thank you to them

As always food good & excellent service. Recent visit total opposite experience booked table, basically we were told we would have to wait an hour to get served and the fact we had booked table was totally irrelevant. Left as did not want to wait an hour or over to eat. To be fair the place looked shambolic and there obviously was not enough staff to cope with the bookings they had taken.

I walked into the restaurant last night without a reservation and was greeted by a very friendly staff and got a table with no problems. I had the classic chicken burger with fries and a red wine. They had great menu options. It was hard to choose just one. The food was great. The service was friendly and great. I would come back again and recommend this location to anyone. Especially guests staying at the doubletree right next door.

I think this pub needs a good re vamp so take note Marstons. There was 11 of us and the Food was mediocre but the place was empty. Thats obviously because most people had been out lunchtime. We asked for some music to be put on but that didn’t last. The dirty plates weren’t cleared away until our dessert was served and then we had to ask. Haven’t been for years and wouldn’t go again

The badly presented tepid food was inedible, The waitress handled the plates with two heavily soiled dirty cloths this was a hygiene concern and made known to the waitress who said that the cloths were clean and continued to use them
