excellent service and excellent quality food 👌

Popped in for a few games of pool with the grandson and the locals were so friendly even let us use their personal que's. Even let me win against them !! We will be back soon

We went on Friday evening and based on our experience we booked in for Sunday Lunch , one of the nicest Sunday Lunches I’ve ever had , generous portion size , fantastic taste and brilliant hospitality. Will definitely be back when in the area.

Visited for a Sunday Roast, easy to make a booking, seated and served quickly. Food was tasty and of decent quality, medium sized roast dinner for £14. Friendly staff.

Went for a meal tonight with my Dad & disabled partner, straight away Kathrine made us welcome & helped my partner to a seat, she read the specials board out to us & took our drinks order. The menu had a big variety of food, something for everyone at reasonable prices, we all enjoyed our meals (pie & chips/omelette) we will be back! Highly recommended! Thanks Katherine & Mollie x

Came down from Sheffield to Newquay always looking for local pubs as we found town centres are rubbish and expensive! we loved this place for food, great staff really went out of there way. definitely coming back.

So disappointed I was told this was the best place for a carvery in Cornwall then on arrival I was told they don't do carvery they bring your veg out for you so I asked for a medium carvery and this is what I got I went away hungry still and paid £15 when It isn't worth £10 also think the guy behind the bar is pretty rude and makes un necessary comments to customers, absolutely shocking I won't be returning

Visited yesterday for a carvery as staying locally for the weekend. Other reviews had said The Lanherne offered a great carvery and they weren’t wrong! The staff were so friendly and helpful, great sense of humour and banter which is often rare these days, perfect table for us to sit with our two four legged friends. Attentive service and then the food! Roast potatoes beautifully cooked - crispy and fluffy they were just like my gran used to make!! Excellent selection of veg which was freshly cooked and hadn’t been sat for ages under the heat lamps, the meat was delicious with generous portions given, and even jugs to take the gravy to the table!!!! They even offered some meat cut offs to the dogs! Would absolutely recommend and will definitely return on our next visit. Thank you to all the team!

Spot on lunch. Just enough, well cooked, good choice, great price and the staff were on spot with good humour and information. Clean and tidy decor. Large and spacious seating. Pool table and a good choice of beverages to choose from. We visited on a Sunday at 1200 having called ahead and booked. The turkey wasn't ready for another 20 mins so went with the beef option which was prefect. Large choice of veg. £35 for 2 'mediums' which was more than enough and had left overs to feed the child. That price also got us 2.5 pints of diet coke. Winning all round place. Worth the visit.

We stopped in on the off chance having been unhappy with the reception from another restaurant which we had booked, two couples, we are local and we were with sister and brother in law who were visiting us. The reception we received and the attention and service throughout the evening was fantastic. They could not do enough for us. The food was spot on and we had a thoroughly enjoyable evening . I had a carvery here. I arrived too late too be fair but they still had enough food for a fantastic Sunday roast and were still happy to feed me. The food was really good (the beef fell apart as I cut into it) and the guy behind the bar was friendly and helpful as was the chef. The venue is clean and tidy and has a nice friendly atmosphere. Feel good venue with great food. I will definitely be back 👍👍😁😁

WELL WHAT CAN I SAY. The food was AMAZING, Took me right back to our mums Sunday dinner. All the staff are very friendly and very helpful 😀 👍. I would have a carvery here every day of the week if it was available. Hats off to the chef and all the team. If you are ever down here look this place up you won't be disappointed. WELL DONE EVERYONE 👏 ✔️ 👍

My wife and I are locals, we've eaten here a few times and never been disappointed. The food and staff are excellent. We wouldnt eat carvery anywhere else. Highly recommended.

Went to this pub with two of my work colleagues and 3 young adults who we are carers for while on holiday. We were all very specific with our food orders, adding on things and asking to swap beans for peas. The staff could not be any more helpful, the woman who served us was very patient with us and made sure to check our order was correct. Food came extremely fast and everything was correct, this was a first for us on this holiday. The food was delicious especially the thick chips which came with our food. We then all had desserts and we wolfed down our desserts as they were so nice. They also have 2 pool tables which kept 2 of the young adults entertained. I would 100% recommend going to this pub and will return here if I go back to the area.

Offer you a diamond, you end up with a pebble. Absolute shocking place that amazes me to still be trading. Anne and Catherine were so rude and disrespectful. I wouldn't even waste your time thinking about going

Came here with my Mum, daughters and my girls' Dad and uncle in August 2023 for a meal. Absolutely lovely people who looked after us exceptionally well, served us delicious food and were really welcoming. Great place, thanks for having us and making our last evening memorable 😀

Definitely not a place I would recommend. Seems like they are a place that can talk the talk but can't walk the walk. Disgusting attitudes from most staff - especially Ann and Catherine. (May I just say though Tamsin was genuinely fantastic and deserves to be treated better and with more respect than they show her) £10 for a pizza that looked like a tesco value one. Peak season and it was dead. Slated our party to people that they didn't realise were part of our party. Wouldn't recommend due to the fact their attitude was a complete disgrace

Fish pie was awful. Hardly no fish, was more like soup. Frozen carrots. Burger wasn't great, lamb shank mostly bone.

This was the worst meal I have ever had .The menue looked inviting but turned out to be abysmal. I had steak and ale pie chips and peas .Expensive that looks like it was a Llidl pie that came still in its brown foil pastry case .Not only that it was cold so sending it back about 10 minutes later got the same again they did take the foil case off the pie this time but guess what it was another cold pie .The next table to us sent two meals back again a cold pie was one .My brother in law had terrible Fish and chips .Where did you find this chef selling Llidl or Aldi pies shocking .I said to the waitress now I've got to find a place to eat she said I would go to McDonald's at least I would have had a hot burger.Ive heard this place is going to shut at some point try tomorrow and save anyone being over charged and poisoned. Knocking the price of my meal off and my brother in law Doesn't cut it we still were charged for the other two wives meals and drinks no discount. You know what the used to say to kids at school try harder next time we'll Lanhern Newquay be careful and get a proper job chef not some clown who thinks they are TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE. Can't give you a 00000 score

Amazing home cooked food and lovely service

Nice large off beaten hotel pub, friendly staff with visiting locals rather than tourists, will definitely visit again with beer prices not too expensive, (compared to town)

Loveless pub We arrived at 5.30pm for dinner and a lovely ale. The large rooms were almost unoccupied, only the billiards and darts in the next room were busy. In the first room we sat on a comfortable corner bench. It was probably only for drinking guests and the waitress sent us to the next room to eat. She seated us at an uncomfortable table for two. In the room where only 1 guest was sitting, we were not allowed to choose our own seat. All the ladies who served us seemed to be in a hurry. The ale came promptly. The food was disappointing: Fish pie for 14 pounds: dry peas/carrots, there were maybe 2 tablespoons of fish puree in the palm-sized pie shape, otherwise mashed potatoes, dough and cheese. Furnishings and interior design apart from the furniture are practically non-existent.

Friendly staff, fast service. Unfortunately the dinner menu was overly-ambitious, offering nachos, burgers, fish pie, cottage pie, soups, salad, lasagne, lamb shank, steak, chili con carne, beef curry - and more! This should have been a warning to us. Chips looked lovely but were undercooked (cold, hard in the middle), lasagne was a cold slab of mush with a warm spot in the middle, meats were varied in texture and temperature. The lamb’s “red wine sauce”was a lukewarm gravy made of fatty drippings, not a jus or demi-glaze; it tasted of burnt pan. No one in our group could finish their meals; some of us went to MacDonalds afterwards. A few of us had sore tummies the next day. I feel sad to leave this poor review because the staff were so nice. We didn’t complain at the time because frankly, there was too much wrong -we’d have had to send back 10 meals. The Laherne should take example from other local restaurants and simplify their dinner menu to focus on a few items that can be done well.

We came and enjoyed a fantastic meal this evening and the food was honestly so good!! Great prices and lovely atmosphere. Staff were super helpful and service was quick. Highly recommended to all.

We went for a carvery yesterday Sunday 6th August .The roast beef was delicious 😋 the roast potatoes were good has was the cauliflower cheese but the vegetables seem to all be frozen and the Yorkshire puddings which let the meal down.

Dreadful place won't be going there again

We arrived at around 5.30pm. We looked around the restaurant and found that every table had reserved signs on them, the place was very nice and spotlessly clean The Sunday carvery was served from 6pm and by 5.45 the restaurant was packed for the first guests. The food was perfect and very enjoyable the manager was carving the meats and the vegetables were cooked to perfection. What a great place to eat, we will be back before we go home.

Went for the first time with my partner last Sunday for a carvery, my daughter & family suggested it and came with us, they were right the carvery was delicious meat was to Die for succulent & juicy beef, cheesy cauliflower , creamy dauphine potatoes & the rest was well seasoned we all had full plates and ate the lot. Lovely friendly staff, it is spacious clean bigger than you expect from the outside. All in all a wonderful delicious meal ...we will be back.

The Lanherne is a large pub on the outskirts if Newquay. It was fairly quiet when we visited on a Saturday tea time. I had sea bass with sizzling ginger from the specials board. I was surprised the fish was cooked in flour but it was tasty - fishier than usual for sea bass. There was a lot of ginger! I thought the new potatoes were a bit dry - better when I smothered them in mayo. My wife had home made lasagne - it was fine but no wow factor. Garlic bread was lovely and she liked the dressing on the salad. Bill including drinks was £36

Brilliant pub for food. We had two starters, five mains and a desert. It was all really good home cooked food. The staff were helpful and lovely, and the place felt clean and covid friendly. The steak pie and mash was yummy! I wouldn’t hesitate to return.

Tony and Dawn had another great Sunday lunch at the Lanherne ,the beef was really tender , and plenty of choice with vegetables. The staff as always helpful and friendly Thank you Anne .

I would just like to say the poor chef serving the carvery needs a big pat on the back. He was having to serve hungry people on his own rushing backwards and forwards to the kitchen to refill all the vegetables, yorkies, stuffing balls. He never once looked miserable. He carried on serving with a smile, apologising and was extremely polite to everyone. We have been here before and he has always done a very good job to keep the customers happy. We will definitely be back. We also go to other carvery establishment in and around Newquay but I must say this is definitely one of our favourite places.

I can't believe all the years we've been coming to Cornwall that we haven't been here before, the staff were friendly and helpful, there was loads of parking spaces round the back and the food was absolutely delicious and for the area, amazing value for money. We won't think twice about returning here, dog friendly too!

Called in here for drinks during our holiday (called in the previous year also during holiday) and can honestly say it's a lovely pub to go for a nice chilled drink. Really friendly staff and decent prices also 🙂 we look forward to visiting again...

Went back for carvery on one their 2 sittings 3pm and 6pm. Oh my! Went back twice it was delicious. Booked as a 7 and Went back with 2 more recruits everyone really enjoyed it. Veg was great and the staff are all fab, nothing too much trouble. Great selection of vegetables all well cooked. Even had just enough room for cheesecake 😋 Hoping it's still there next year and it keeps on doing what it's doing! I dont do carvery normally I dint rate them but this was great!

Great pub, great staff, great food, prices are good too. Been here a few times each time stayed in Newquay. Good size kids meals and great icecream for dessert. Just remember to book in advance as gets busy in summer season, food served from 5.30pm, no food served on Tuesday or Wednesday ( I may be wrong or this may change so contact to confirm )

Definitely somewhere not to go as a family, my 9 year old was told she couldn't play on the pool tables they Definitely didn't want children in there

If you’re after a classic good Sunday roast - carvery style - this is the place come! Beef and gammon on offer when we visited, no queue, plenty of veg, I had everything and all was cooked well and tasted delicious. Staff are very welcoming...
