I had a voucher from Gourmet Dining - Smartbox by Buyagift and decided to eat here last night. We were met with a big helpful smile from the waiter Michael then it all went downhill from there, he was rushed off his feet. I do not want to pick up on what Michael did or didnt do as it was plain to see he was very busy but another waitress (long red hair) was quite rude when we complained and did not seem to care that we were not happy. On a good note the lamb pie was excellent but we will not be back.

This is the restaurant in Woughton House hotel. We stayed at the hotel and had a really pleasant dinner here on a Friday evening. The restaurant is comfortable and very well appointed with a few cosy corners. The staff are excellent - friendly, attentive and helpful. The food is really good too, tasty and beautifully presented. We had excellent steaks here cooked exactly as we wanted. Altogether very pleased with the visit.

My husband & I ate here while we were staying overnight in the hotel. We booked a table for 7.30, it took along time for anyone to take our order and I had to catch a member of staff to ask for some water for the table, would have been nice to have to be offered some straight away. We ordered a starter & main each, and didn’t receive our main course until 9.20, I asked if there was any problems in the kitchen and was told at 9 that it would be 2 minutes as the chef was just plating it up but was another 20 minutes! The food was good, though quite expensive for what it was, but unfortunately the long wait marred the whole meal....

Breakfast was a different kettle of fish, ok if you order from the restaurant but the hot buffet was not up to scratch. We went here after being gifted a Groupon voucher. Pitched as a fine-dining restaurant the decor was ok but it's striving for something it will not achieve. It would be better off having something that is modern, airy and smart casual. The dining room was pretty quiet for a Saturday night and lacked atmosphere because of this. I would estimate 35%full. The service was friendly and efficient, no complaints there. We had a good table with space which was nice.

I booked a Groupon meal for four people (4* Two-Course Meal with Prosecco) at the Woughton Hotel - Seasons Restaurant for the 25th Jan. When we arrived the venue looked lovely and as we were early we had a drink in the bar. We made our way to the restaurant where two men were seated but had to wait for about five minutes before a waiter arrived and showed us to our seats. We were seated in the back part of the restaurant which was dimly lit - it made us feel like 2nd class citizens! During our meal the two men left and two other people were seated in the more brightly lit, front part of the restaurant as they were eating from the à la carte menu! We selected our starters and mains and eventually the starters were served. Two of us had the soup which was nicely presented in a jug with the bowl on a small rectangular plate. Unfortunately it was not piping hot and when poured into the cold bowl, it chilled off even more. Also the taste was very nondescript - it was supposed to be vegetable but it was hard to tell. Annoyingly the waiter lent across us to serve instead of serving us from the left. After some time, the mains arrived but unfortunately the two duck dishes were not as expected. The duck was tough and again nowhere near hot enough. One dish was changed for sea bass after complaining, but this too was not attractive or tasty. Overall the menu was very limited. The restaurant was almost empty and so there was no excuse to serve luke warm food - all in all the food was mediocre and the service sub-standard and very slow. We were bitterly disappointed and left before the table had been cleared. My father phoned and complained to the manager (Gareth) who said he would talk to the head chef and get back to him. We are still waiting for a response.... very unimpressed with the whole experience. Would not recommend eating at this hotel.

We came here on 25 Jan for my partners birthday. The restaurant was nearly empty. We expected that as the restaurant is advertised as ‘fine dining’ that we would get a really special experience. However the food was mediocre and the service sub-standard. It is a shame as we have stayed here before and enjoyed it. However the restaurant is very expensive for the quality of food and level of service you get and it certainly was not what we were expecting. Will not be coming here for dinner again and will not be recommending it. After the meal we both feel quite unwell which is not acceptable at all.

We stayed here for a birthday break and chose to dine in on the last night as much for convenience as anything - however it turned out to be a good choice. We had already found the fairly young staff friendly and helpful, and the food turned out to be very good as well. My sea trout starter was small but tasty, and our pork mains turned out to be four different types of pork with an excellent range of flavours and textures. My wife's dessert was well received and the cheeseboard was a selection from a fairly well-stocked trolley, not your standard cheddar/brie/stilton. A bit more variety of biscuits would have been welcome though. The wine was rather overpriced but otherwise the food was very reasonable. A nice quiet spot for some very decent food.

Hubby and I went to the Seasons Restaurant at the Mercure Parkside in Woughton. He had a groupon offer deal. We were expecting a buffet like at the Abbey Hill Mercure in Two Mile Ash, but this was a full sit down waitress lunch. Chilled water was provided without being asked for. We had already bought drinks from the bar to have with our meal. The menu had something for everyone, with plenty of options for starters and mains. We both had the soup of the day, which was carrot and coriander. It was the best carrot soup we've ever had. It was rich, thick and very tasty and came with freshly baked bread rolls that were still warm. The main courses were great too. Hubby had the salmon which was served with salsa verde, potatoes and steamed vegetables. I went for the low roast beef sirloin. The beef was meltingly tender, the Yorkshire was crispy, the red cabbage was sweet and piquant and the roast potatoes were just like home made. My two niggles? I only received one tiny broccoli floret and they could do with serving a small jug of gravy with the meal as there was only a drizzle of gravy on the plate. The desserts were excellent. The raspberry sorbet and lemon tart were not too sweet and perfectly matched. Hubby really enjoyed his caramel cheesecake with white chocolate icecream. The icecream scoops were placed on a bed of freshly made shortbread crumbs and you could really taste the butter in the shortbread. The serving staff were attentive without being intrusive, and were very keen to make sure we had everything we needed or wanted when they brought food to the table. So, not at all what we were expecting - it was much better.

My wife and I had Sunday lunch here on a special deal with Amazon Local. We paid £9.95 each for a really lovely meal and some of the best roast beef we have had for a long time. The hotel is located in the rural setting of Woughton on the Green on the edge of Milton Keynes and combines country house charm with traditional furnishings. There is plenty of parking .We ate in Lanes Restaurant (it isn't called Seasons any longer) which was quite busy with only a few tables left. The service from start to finish was professional and friendly. There are three choices on the menu but we had a tomato and pepper soup with croutons that were a little soggy but the soup tasted great. I had smoked salmon and crayfish with a mary rose sauce, again very tasty. For main course we had the traditional roast beef and Yorkshire puddings with roast potatoes and vegetables. The beef was outstanding, cooked medium rare and sliced very generously. The horseradish sauce they served was outstanding with nice pieces of horseradish that made it zesty and flavoursome. This contrasts with the rather wishy washy horseradish you normally get in restaurants. Slightly less impressive were the vegetables as there were only a few shards of limp carrots and parsnips, but the beef more than made up for it. A separate pot of gravy was brought to the table, again a nice touch usually only seen in more expensive restaurants. My wife didn’t have dessert but I had burnt cream or crème brule which was really good. For drinks we asked for a bottle of sparkling water but unfortunately they just poured carbonated chilled filtered tap water from a bottle, which neither of us like, then took the bottle away. I have never been to a restaurant that successfully does this and this one was no exception. The wine was a very acceptable French chardonnay at £25. Generally the wine list caters for all budgets but is a little on the expensive side.We would thoroughly recommend a visit here for Sunday lunch and even better if you can get a great deal as we did.

We booked using an Amazon Local voucher which we have done many many times at other venues all over the country and this is the first time we felt treated like 2nd class citizens we were shown to "our room" which was a large conference type room with grubby walls. We had a waitress come to ask us what we would like, difficult when she hadnt given us the Menu. We ordered the crab& prawn salad and pate starter which was fine then came the main which was roast beef ! one piece of really fatty beef a couple of tablespoons of veg and 3 pieces of potato which were pale and undercooked, yorkshire pudding was burnt on top and wet underneath and very little gravy biggest problem was whole meal was luke warm at best. My friend then had apple crumble which was a very odd tart like think really unappertising to look I decided to have the cheese and biscuits at an additional cost of £2.50 this arrive cheese selection was good but no butter or knife and 3 small digestive biscuits no variation and the grapes were wizened, The wine is expensive £8.50 for 250ml glass and when that came it warm. Really disappointing overall

The staff were helpful and friendly, and worked very well as a team. They looked after us well and gave the impression that they really wanted us to have an enjoyable evening. In my view this restaurant offers exceptionally good value for a real fine dining experience, and I'd recommend it without hesitation. Javi, the restaurant manager explained how the evening would work and explained that it would be interactive which worked for us as we both love wine! Over five cheese courses (with olives, sun dried tomatoes), Javi talked us through the wines, all of which were excellent, the guy knows his stuff even though to did play this down at the beginning of the evening, I particularly liked that he had wine in the selection from his home town - this was a nice touch and was so delicious we ordered a bottle for after dinner!Overall the whole evening was very enjoyable and Javi and Helene made a great team, balancing the service so it was attentive without being intrusive. We booked this restaurant for a Sunday Lunch to show our American visitors what a British Sunday lunch was as we had visited before and had excellent service and an excellent meal. Unfortunately and very embarrassing for us the meal was absolutely terrible, the meat was overcooked and tough the roast potatoes had been either precooked and reheated or just held in an oven for too long waiting to be served and were inedible, the Yorkshire pudding was overcooked the vegetables were well cooked. The starter and the sweet were the only saving grace for the whole meal. The service we had was of a high standard but when we complained about the food we were told that all the potatoes were like that. There was a wedding in the hotel which may have been the catalyst for problems in the kitchen but should be no excuse for serving such poor food.

What a treat! I found an offer on Amazon Local, not something I am in the habit of doing, and signed up. My husband and I set of with no idea of what to expect. When we got to the hotel we were surprised at how attractive it was, set in a huge green garden and well away from the hustle and bustle of Milton keynes. As we sat in the sunshine on the outdoor decking area having a drink we were much entertained by a wedding that was in progress until we went in for lunch. The bevy of international young staff were incredibly accommodating when I proclaimed at the two enormous mirrors in the dining area between which I did not fancy sitting. We were shown into the dining room conservatory instead which was beautifully decorated and had an open door allowing in some cooling air. Perfect! We were served a simply delicious 3 course Sunday lunch with a relaxing coffee afterwards. The vegetables were perfectly cooked (not grey and stewed to death), the meat was tender and the roast potatoes were fluffy with a hint of garlic. The dessert I chose was scrummy but very rich and filling but I would choose it again!! the overall experience was wonderful - a real treat - and we have booked to go again next weekend with friends!!

A four star AA rosetted establishment proclaiming the top chef in Milton Keynes - that did not offer an aperitif on seating and had run out of steak due to the table beside us having ordered 4 steaks - the relevance of which was lost on us, especially as it was the only other table occupied at that time! One vegetarian option for starter and main; the vegetarian of the group decided on the goats cheese that omitted the (v) sign as the Gazpacho wasn't welcome. For mains the vegetarian mushroom 'lasagne' was enjoyed, although two slathers of pasta and pecorino, with a few small mushrooms was not served with anything to mop the sauce or substantiate the dish. The corn fed chicken was exceptionally small and indistinguishable from any other run of mill chicken dish and the gnocchi to accompany was lacking in texture. The monkfish was, again, very small and also very dry - the so called Jersey potatoes to accompany were most obviously not. The cheese 'trolly' was viewed on entering the restaurant and, with only 5 cheeses, we wondered (and jested) at the need of a trolly for such a meagre selection. For desert 3 of the group opted for the crème brûlée - which they have self termed in an effort to individualise (or justify) their own take on this classic dish. It arrives, impressively, with a flaming top. The appreciation, however, is soon lost when the inevitable is realised - flambé cannot harden the sugar enough to offer any texture (or taste) and all that remains is the grainy grit of half burnt sugar. On asking for a digestif or liqueur menu we were met with confusion, and then the head of service tried to clarify. We ordered limoncello for 4, only to be informed several minutes later that they had run out of limoncello, but they did have midori (the only link to limoncello we could think of was melon being an anagram of lemon!). Brandy was off the menu as well, not that there was a menu of liqueurs to peruse, as "this is a new restaurant". Again, we failed to find the relevance in their excuse. On complaining about our dissatisfaction of what we believed was to be a four star, AA rosetted meal we were offered a free coffee. Nothing could be deducted from the bill as most of the plates were cleared, something we hold our hands up to as we had travelled over 8 hours to get there and it was too late to book elsewhere.Thankfully we followed a local recommendation to dine a few hundred yards down the road at Ye Olde Swan on our second evening, where every dish was thoroughly enjoyed along with the atmosphere of a fully booked restaurant.

Lane's Restaurant has recently been renamed Seasons Restaurant. This was an excellent experience right from the moment we entered this elegant restaurant. A nice welcome and then shown to a beautifully laid table, crisp white tablecloth, flowers, gleaming cutlery and sparkling glasses. We chose from the 'Tasting Menu' and from the start to the finish every dish was beautifully presented and every mouthful was flavoursome and cooked beautifully. The service was faultless, friendly, professional and unobtrusive. The timing of the delivery of each of our five courses was perfect and the atmosphere was relaxed and comfortable. The cheeseboard being wheeled (yes...wheeled!) to an adjoining table looked amazing. Rounded off our evening with reasonably priced liqueurs in the hotel's nicely furnished bar while waiting for our taxi. We are looking forward to a return visit to sample the main menu as soon as we can and will be hoping to leave enough room to sample that cheese.

We booked to eat here on Christmas Day. The food was excellent but the service and atmosphere were lacking for a festive occasion. There did not seem to be enough staff working and there were not even Christmas crackers on the table! I was surprised that coffee and a mince pie were not included in the high cost of the meal. I have written a complaint though and have been offered suitable compensation for my disappointment at the service. I would need some convincing to book here again for an occasion such as Christmas.

We left it fairly late to book, but nonetheless expected a decent experience for the price. On the plus side, the marquee setting had a lovely star-filled night sky effect ceiling, there was a good range of fresh vegetables well (ie not over) cooked and the staff (although clearly young and inexperienced) were pleasant and helpful. The roast parsnip soup was tasty enough, but we had to ask for rolls to go with it. When they arrived, they were obviously part-baked as they were still sticky and raw underneath. No water was provided on the table and the children's pizzas (which were requested in advance) had obviously been forgotten and arrived significantly after everyone else's main meals. Although coffee was offered as part of the set menu, we were then told it wasn't included in the price. Father Christmas was supposed to arrive, but didn't and there was no music - not even piped Christmas carols. Some time ago we had a good afternoon tea experience for Mothers' Day at this place so this seemed disappointing by comparison.

Having read other reviewers experiences of the friendly and helpful staff, I can only assume that they all had the day off and a group of school children were hired for the day. None of the staff appeared to have a clue what was going on, and there was a complete lack of supervision. The meal was adequate, but not particularly special. The room had the atmosphere of a business meeting, and the promised Santa visit did not materialise. Simple requests, such as for the coffee at the end of the meal (which was included), were met with blank looks. After a 30 minute wait, we decided to leave and have coffee at home. Not so easy as our coats had been moved by the staff and took another 15 minutes to locate someone who could be bothered to try and find them. We live in the village and would love to visit the hotel more frequently, but that disappointing experience has put us off from ever visiting the hotel again. I guess they are only interested in the business clients.

We visited the Mercure Parkside Hotel on 19th January for a meal to choose the wedding breakfast for our daughter and her fiance. We sampled a wide variety of dishes all four of us having different starters, main courses & desserts. It's fair to say that we would have been confident to serve any of the dishes at the wedding breakfast, and the selection of the final choices took a little while. The standard of wine served, both white and red, was also good, although I wouldn't personally go for either of the house offerings. The service was attentive but not over the top, and the small extras we requested were readily provided. All in all a positive dining experience.

My husband and I decided that this year we would have our Christmas Day lunch out, as we were on our own for that day. We were lucky enough to be able to secure a table at the Mercure Woughtonon the Green, and have to say it was thge best decision made. We were most impressed with the service, the meal, and the staff's attention to detail throughout. The meal itself was wonderful, with a good selection at each course. The attention we received from the staff from arrival to departure and throughout our day there, was excellent. We would love to be able to join them again for our 2013 Christmas Day lunch, which we are planning towards already. Certainly a restaurant to be recommended to anyone appreciating excellent service, surroundings and superb food.

Our Christmas meal was in a freezing marquee with zero atmosphere despite having been booked weeks ago. Dancing was impossible due to the volume of the DJ who also played only techno muzac for the first few hours, did he not notice no one was on the floor? The dance floor was in a bar through a doorway offering nothing by way of a usual dinner/dance atmosphere. This was the worst place I have been ever for a special event. The manager was patronising and rude to our initial requests for tables somewhere warm, heating where we were sitting, or reducing the earsplitting volume of the disco.Mercure Directors take note, it doesn't take much to topple a 'name' from the 4 star lists. This place has a 4* AA notice at front entrance, what a joke! Scruffy dirty carpets and paintwork, disinterested staff, slack manager - its nothing like 4 stars.

Stay here regulary on business and have to say the chef and his team are great here! Food is clearly fresh and seasonal and the team are more that happy to requests,The fine wine menu is certainly worth looking at with some really good wines at reasonable prices, I have paid over £80 for wines being sold at less that £40!

Well - the dust has finally settled since our daughter’s unforgettable wedding at St Mary’s Church on 9 June, and the equally unforgettable reception - organised, managed and staged to perfection by you and your team at Parkside House. But the memories will live with everyone forever. The happy couple - Tom and Amy - have just returned from their honeymoon to discover masses of videos and photographs of the big day - all of which will help them to relive the best and most exciting day of their lives. Hours of pleasure! The setting for the wedding was second to none - the 13th century church next door with all its history, and Parkside House - looking fantastic when the sun shone in the afternoon, showing off the splendid grounds around the building, and which provided the perfect setting for photographs. As parents of the bride, we really cannot thank you and your marvellous staff for everything that you did to make the day so special and memorable. Please thank each and everyone for being star performers on the day - polite, incredibly helpful and hard working. Nothing was too much trouble, and their attitude helped make the day go so well. The food, too, was excellent and could not be faulted - everyone was highly complementary. And special mention to for the Malbec - what a stunning red wine! The extra, single portion meal dishes in the evening were a fantastic idea and great touch. Delicious, too, and a great talking point. We reserve special praise for yourself and Nicola (your wedding manager). Your help and advice over the weeks beforehand in helping plan the day down to the last detail ensured everything was just perfect and went like clockwork, and your enthusiasm, commitment and professionalism on the day were frankly amazing. We cannot thank you enough or speak too highly of your efforts. Without you, the day would not have been as wonderful as it undoubtedly was. Thank you both so much. One enduring memory of the day will be you meeting the happy couple as the left the church after the ceremony, with a tray and two glasses of Champagne. What a lovely touch!Everyone who attended the wedding and reception, many of whom stayed overnight at the hotel, had only good words to say about you, the hotel, the food, and all the staff. That speaks volumes about the management. We look forward to coming back to the Parkside again. And for all couples looking for the best, most perfect venue for their wedding reception - we cannot recommend Parkside House and its staff more strongly. One thing is for sure - they would never regret choosing you. Thanks again for everything.Martin and Gail Duckworth, Stanbridge, Beds

Went there with friend Thursday 8th Sept for the first time. Tables were beautifully laid out; Nepalese waiter was charming, helpful and attentive. The food in particular was outstanding: presentation of a very high standard and the taste was divine; the starter was delicious; there was no fat on the shoulder of lamb which was extremely tender and tasty; the desert was superb and so well presented; the wine was well chilled. The cost was very reasonable and the overall experience was quite special - a really pleasant experience. The only down-side was that there were not enough people there to share in this very special experience. Thank you...

Last Monday - 13 June my wife and I visited this restaurant. We were both very impressed with both the very friendly staff and the excellent food we had. We had the three course Table d'hote, which had a choice of about six dishes for each course. We both had different dishes for all three courses and found them all to be superb.I can thoroughly recommend this restaurant, which although very close to Milton Keynes, is situated in a lovely village.Regards, Ross Balaam.

Food is top class. Chef should be proud. My husband didn't feel well and the server couldn't have been more helpful. Gave us the meal as a takeaway and switched a fan on for us.
