I went here because the pub opposite (Jenny Lind) use it for guests staying there. I loved the cafe - the owner is super friendly and polite and he has two little dogs that hang around. The food is freshly cooked individually and is excellent. There seem to be lots of locals that go there and one chap told me he had breakfast there every day. Don't go if you want a quick instant breakfast - it's made to order and it takes just as long as if you were making it at home. I consider this a gem of a place - a real find.

I came into the restaurant today for lunch. I was served by a lovely young man. He was very helpful and kind to me. Unfortunately I did hear the owner being rude to him. It sounded like he wanted to do more than one thing at one time. Even though my lunch was served to me a little bit longer than I had hoped I completely understood as the restaurant was quite busy. I was completely shocked and disgusted with the way the owner was talking to this young man that they have hired to help them with the service of this restaurant, therefore I am not rating this visit on how my food was or how I was served but by the rudeness of the owner. I am absolutely appalled that the owner can get away with talking to their staff like this. That is no way to treat a fellow human being, especially as they are trying to work their hardest in a busy place. This is not the first time I have heard the owner being like this. This is disgusting behaviour- they should not be allowed to run a place like this is that is how they treat their staff.

A little disappointed. Garden not as pretty as the pictures. Lunch uninspiring. Small tasty salad with a small portion of hummus and some pale oil(not olive) with decent bread, balsamic vinegar and seeds at over £10 was a tad underwhelming. No curry available so had sausage and bubble which was good but expensive for the portion size.

We visit this great little eatery every time that we visit Hastings - the food is great, the staff so friendly and the atmosphere so calm. We always make a point of having breakfast in here the Tuesday after Jack in the Green - as after the hectic and busy long weekend, this is just the place to relax over a leisurely breakfast and watch the world go by; we always end up bumping into friends here - and everyone says the same - the best place to eat in Hastings. Having just returned from a family visit to Hastings I had the good fortune to have returned here for breakfast on a damp Sunday morning. Not only did it just so happen to be where myself and my now grown up daughter used to eat chocolate cake when she was little, but they also rescued us from not being able to find a decent cooked breakfast past 11:00 am on a Sunday morning. The wonderful staff could give a masterclass on how to run a small establishment. The vegetarian breakfast was faultless as was the service. Quiet unassuming people who not only made us feel entirely welcome but special thanks goes to the cook who kept the kitchen open especially to prepare us breakfasts, as they normally stop after 11:00 am also. Also the lady who not only was serving but helped us entertain our two year old by bringing him little books and crayons etc. will definitely return. The toilets were the cleanest I have ever experienced, which says a great deal about the owners' commitment to cleanliness and hygiene - also apparent in the cafe itself. It is in a prime position in the old town and I will definitely go back again and again. We took a visit to this cafe today and we went to eat in the garden. Our table was covered with plates etc. I went inside to ask if we could have it cleared and the man who I assumed was the owner very rudely responded to me. Our table didn’t get cleared for 15 minutes. I then went inside and got our own menu and sat back down. We then heard a massive crash in the cafe and one of the waitresses spilt a boiling hot coffee over a poor mans back and all over their breakfast. The staff were very rude to the man and didn’t even apologise. His back was blistered and he was in so much pain! Finally a lady came over to take our order and then decided to go off again for another 10 minutes because her pen had ran out. She had no expression on her face and didn’t even speak to us. When we eventually got our food it was very basic and poor! Will not be visiting here again!

We spent a couple of nights at the Jenny Lind opposite (also very successful) and just hopped across the narrow street to the Land of Green Ginger for breakfasts which were lovely and served up by a welcoming host. As a coeliac, I have to have gluten free food which was no problem for them. I'm also a vegetarian and the Land of Green Ginger had a lunch menu with several meals to suit my need and taste - not just a baked potato and cheese, but a number of creative dishes! I heartily recommend this place and would certainly go there again. It is very dog friendly too, which goes down well with me as I love all mutts :).

We walked for miles over the cliffs into the Hastings Old Town. By the time we arrived we were thirsty and hungry. The Land Of Green Ginger looked welcoming and the menu looked like our sort of food. We were not disappointed as we both had superb salads and delicious lemon drizzle cake whilst sitting in their garden which felt Mediterranean in the heat and sunshine ( although it was April). The owners were friendly and helpful. We will definitely be back when we next go to Hastings.

We were staying at The Jenny Lind and were given vouchers for breakfast here, I loved this idea as we could check out at 11 then walk over for a relaxed breakfast. The breakfast was delicious and the service excellent, I would definitely come back here even if I wasn't staying at The Jenny Lind

Staying locally this lovely cafe was recommended and didn’t disappoint. Warm and cheerful. Good breakfast choices from full cooked with local sausages to porridge. We enjoyed perfectly cooked poached eggs and piping hot coffee. Toast served in a toast rack! Great place.

I had my 60th bash at the Jenny Lind Hastings. The catering was provided by “land of green ginger” just across the road. Gene and Kieth surpassed any catering experience I could have hoped for. Courteous easy to deal with and extremely efficient. The food was sublime. Try and find a better sausage roll? I don’t think so. The food kept coming feeding my guests to what they said was an unexpected treat. Plenty to eat, plenty of great tastes and to finish off,our breakfast was served there the following morning after our wonderful evening and stay at the Jenny Lind.

Not intending to stay long, I ordered an egg mayonnaise sandwich and pot of tea and couldn't believe how good they both tasted. Egg and bread completely fresh and such a good pot of tea. Of course I couldn't leave after that I so ordered rhubarb crumble and ice cream, which were delicious! Lovely staff and great menu. Highly recommended and I'm looking forward to my next visit.
