We visited for a meal on a wet Tuesday afternoon and had a lovely table in the window overlooking the forest. The menu is excellent, plenty of options to suit any taste. Service was friendly and efficient - Bethany was excellent and took particular care of our dog ! The food was great, quality and quantity both above expectations, and the desserts that followed finished off a 5 star experience. We will definitely return when we’re in the area.

We enjoyed a lovely evening with friends in this forest pub. Beautiful setting, with a good sized garden with seating. We did not have a starter, but all had a main course. Burger, liver, pie, veg. Strudel, commoners chicken, and sea bream. We thoroughly enjoed the meals and there were six clean plates. Thanks to the Chef. Four of us had puddings, one sundae and three waffles. The sundae was okay, but the waffles were awful. The toppings were passable, it was just thehorrid waffles, which were leathery, cold and thick. It was very disappointing., and we left the waffles. (They were definitely overprice) We would return, but steer clear of the waffles.

Unprofessional. Petty, ridiculous landlord who bears crazy personal grudges & has the mentality of of a school boy bully. Picks and chooses who is allowed to use their local community pub ! Ostracises people if their face doesn’t fit & has a heavy hand in running the local rumour mill. Treats some members of the local community terribly and uses his position of mediocre power as a landlord to exercise his own personal agenda rather than focusing on just providing a nice community pub. Personal grudges over minor/imagined slights are held like precious jewels. Petty, small minded opinions & mean personal comments are not kept in his own mind. A small viallges worst nightmare ! Landlord from hell and the worst land lord the village has ever seen. Great chef..... great food. But as for being a hub of community spirit ??? Look else where.

We came across this Inn by accident travelling through the backwaters of the New Forest on our way from Weymouth to Winchester. With no booking our welcome was as warm as the wonderful log fire blazing in the hearth. More's the pity we had already booked an evening meal at our destination so could only have a starter each. Make no mistake this little Inn packs a punch when it comes to flavour and the beer was exceptional. I can't imagine what upset a past reviewer to post such a terrible review, Take no notice and stop awhile. Enjoy the setting, the assortment of wild animals roaming the Forest outside, its all here. Our only pity was we couldn't stop for a dinner as the menu looked very moreish.

The most upset I have been at an establishment perhaps ever. So sad as I have eaten at the lamb for 20 years since I first found it when living in the next village.1. we called to ask if there was space to eat. they said yes.2. 30 minutes into the 45 minute drive we called to check things hadn't changed. they confirmed all was still ok.3. arrived and were seated at a table and told to look at through menu and order.4. went up to place the order at the outside desk (no table service) and were told we couldnt order. it was 10 minutes before their last orders. they should not have welcomed us by phone twice and then seated us if they were not able to feed us. there is no excuse for that. I understand it was really busy due to the government eat out scheme but if your busy you turn people away. you dont seat them and then not feed them. the 7 of us had to eat mc Donald's 30 miles from home. sad times.

The food was delicious, however the service was abysmal. Despite having made a reservation, we were made to feel an inconvenience. Whilst eating, We were asked if 'everything was ok & did we need anything' we asked for more drinks but the lady said we'd have to wait as she was in the middle of something!!!!??? She didn't come back!! we had to catch the attention of another staff member, who took the drinks order, gave it to another staff member, who then left it on the bar!! We had to catch the attention of yet another staff member to bring the drinks to our table, the drinks had no ice or lemon and one drink was wrong!! One member of staff was constantly apologising, blaming the 'virus' and that they were busy.... there were two other covers during our visit!! The bill wasn't itemised, just the total amount written on a compliment slip. I was glad for the 50% government discount, because the experience wasn't worth any more.

A wonderful pub set overlooking a village green complete with cricket pitch. The Lamb continues to delight - combining a proper country pub with outstanding food and great service. The menu is extensive and supplemented by frequently changing seasonal daily specials. There's a good selection of wine, local ales and lagers to suit most tastes. The whole team at The Lamb has worked incredibly hard since lockdown to serve the local community by offering a take-away service with free delivery and then by making sure the pub is safe for all visitors by setting up an excellent social distancing policy. On our visit, we saw thorough cleaning of all tables after each sitting and these are well-spaced both inside and in the beautiful pub garden outside. There are plenty of hand sanitizers available and a well thought out one-way policy, signposted clearly. On our visit, everyone was observing the precautions, aside from one older couple who felt the one-way system didn't apply to them. Reassuringly, the landlord immediately professionally and politely explained this to the couple who sadly could be overheard threatening to leave a bad review about the landlord. Who on earth would do such a thing in the current situation?Overall a great pub with great food, which is working really hard to welcome everyone back safely. Keep up the good work.

We were barely through the gate when a bearded gnome bounced out of a hedge screaming 'no bicycles in the garden'. We explained that, as we were not carrying locks, we'd prefer not to leave them unattended. The answer was as the title. We asked for the reason; 'no bicycles in the garden for 24 years' came back the response. "But, please explain, give us a good and valid reason", the answer? See the title once again. When you walk into a restaurant or pub a simple “hello good evening” is an accepted greeting - this isn’t what we got - a surly grunt from a non smiling bar manager who really didn’t seem interested in us at all - combining this with mediocre service and a really poor staff/client interface we were hoping for better food than we got. Tough cheap meat, slopped with gravy and chewy cabbage - as far as our average rating is concerned - lucky to get this from people in the trade. This operation could be great but needs to re-evaluate their menu, service and client relationships.

I have been to the Lamb two or three times over the last few years and never been satisfied. The food is good, but the attitude of the manager and staff to customers is aggressive. They take the view that they are doing you a favour by allowing you to eat at their restaurant, and they have a number of rules about what you may order depending on the time of day, day of the week and place you are sitting within the pub. They will not, for example, serve the light menu or sandwiches if you sit in what they call the dining area. The result is that a good deal of food is wasted and a great many people won't go back

Lovely garden and pleasant area, we were quite enjoying our evening which included a meal, where upon a group of locals decided it would be fun to sit near us and begin shouting and swearing loudly - I complained to the landlord (who kindly told them it was me who had complained, nice move) who asked them to stop the bad language but they then verbally abused one of the young waitresses to the point she burst into tears. The Landlord then told my wife when she went to complain for a second time "I ain't got time for this love" (very condescending to say to any woman let alone a customer), and walked of. When I asked for the bill he said he doesn't serve rude people (bizarrely) and said "pay, don't pay, I don't care". So we paid a pound. I have since had the owner Pauline on the phone threatening to "sue me"... and against my better judgment we have paid an agreed amount for the meal. Her attitude towards her staff was quite frankly so appalling, for the sake of the poor girl involved I won't repeat what she said about her. (If you want to challenge that I did record the calls). Abhorrent evening. Although we apparently had a "cheap night out". What a joke. If you are not prepared to stand by while locals swear and abuse people then avoid this pub like the plague.

It is a lovely place to sit and eat or have a drink - NOT a place to let your kids run around and ruin.

Will never return rude lanlord! Such a shame because it's in an ideal location. Looks inviting but it's not, save your time and money and go elsewhere.

Such a lovely quaint beamed traditional public house, the perfect journey time of 20 minutes got us here safely. Classic & excellent bar service, lots of friendly faces awaiting your orders. Pub was absolutely fully booked, all tables laid for Sunday lunch service, which is a great sign but sadly for us there was 'no room at the Inn'....Food looked really hearty, homemade & everyone seemed to be tucking in with happy faces. I'll definitely return one day soon but will book for Sunday lunch in the future

One of the best places to eat in the New Forest. Huge menu and a daily specials board which are all excellent. Great staff and the setting on a beautiful village green makes for a great night out. Warming open fire in the winter sets off a perfect village pub which punches above its weight for food and beers.

Never really been a fan of this pub but friends like it and the food is normally acceptable but the meal yesterday was very poor.

I hate to give a less than favourable review but have to say I agree with a few previous reviews concerning the unsmiling barman who I think may have been the landlord. His proprietorial demeanour would point to this. With one notable exception, a waitress, the staff were offhand and unhelpful. The food was mediocre, and for what it was, overpriced. The beer was OK (Palmers of Bridport). That made up for it a bit. The mulled wine was reported to be very good too, and welcome on a cold and dank day.

Met here for lunch on a Saturday with some of the family as it looked good and was half way for us all. We all ordered from the main menu, food came in a good time, have to say it is great pub food, and served with a smile, all of the staff were friendly and helpful. Will definitely be back with more of us.

The meal was fantastic, the waiting staff were excellent, beautiful location, very clean. My score would have been Excellent but for the bar tender who has let this establishment down in a big way! There were two "mature" men behind the bar and we were served by one of them who was surly, didn't smile once and clearly didn't like the fact that on a Bank Holiday Sunday, there were a lot of "tourists" The bar tender is usually the first person you deal with in a restaurant/pub and The Lamb really need's to address this issue. The attitude of that barman spoilt what would otherwise have been a first class experience. Had it not been for the bubbly and polite waitress, we would probably have walked out without eating and there were 8 of us!

We stopped mid-ramble, and had a burger and chips from the 'snacks' menu. It was DELICIOUS! The burger patty had real flavour, it was big, and had lovely melted cheese. Triple cooked chips really good too. Great value for £8.50. Would visit again, best burger I've tasted in ages. Nice atmosphere too.

Good pub/restaurant - good food - staff friendly. Wished we had gone here instead of Sir Walter Tyrell who should take a leaf out of other establishments in the forest

We had a family meal here as we have been here in the past and the food was previously very good. The food is still incredibly tasty and is reasonably priced. The locally sourced produce and homemade desserts are a huge bonus and put it far beyond usual pub food. The fact that this pub is next to a gourmet restaurant only adds to how impressed I was by how good the food was. I'll definitely be returning.

Had lunch (19 August 2017). Very good service. The girls on duty serving food, taking customer orders and the bar staff (lady) were excellent today.Restaurant staff were attentive, without being bothersome, busy and took orders from the table if they were passing. They asked if you needed anything and were, overall, perfect. The lady at the bar was also very friendly and prompt with getting drinks orders.Food was very good, very hot (a big plus for me) and of good quality and agreeable prices (in line with pub food prices for food that isn't just reheated from the packet).A fairly busy lunchtime that was handled by the team very efficiently. No one seemed to wait for service. The dogs in the pub (including ours) seemed to enjoy the experience, too.

This place was recommended by the Hosts of the B&B we stayed at. We enjoyed the food and the staff were very nice. The pub is dog friendly so be aware tht they are to tay on leads st all times. We fell foul of the Manager who was quite brusque with us, not once but again when my husband asked a member of staff if I could have a tea. The Manager said No (rudely) to tea, only serves it at lunch time. It took the shine of the evening for me.

Lovely pub in a wonderful New Forest location with ponies wandering around opposite. The bar has a good selection of well-kept ales and the beer garden is a welcoming and relaxing area. The staff are welcoming and friendly too but the real star here is the food....good, honest fare which is well cooked, delicious and hugely satisfying. Our half shoulders of lamb were extremely generous in proportion and this meant, unfortunately that we had to forego the possibility of dessert......and what a range of home-cooked treats they looked! You only have to cross the quiet road and you are in the forest....ideal for walking off a hearty meal. If only we had a second stomach for such beautiful-looking desserts!

Called here for lunch with family after our dog walk, great location however the service was not good, had to remind the waitress as she had forgotten the potatoes and the mayonnaise to go with my sons fish cake which did seem to be lacking fish.

Have not been to this place for about 6.years and it wasn't great then either. We all choose of the festive menu pre oredered. Turned up to be told one of the starters was not available, fair enough ordered something else, however when thw food started coming out what was on the menu was definitely not what was served on the plate in fact it was less but they still had the nerve to charge a supplement for things that where not there. How this place is still running is beyond me. I will not be returning for a meal!

My wife was charged £6 for one round of cheap supermarket bread toasted.Hmm.!! My sausage bap was average at best. We had to endure sitting close to 3 loud/sweary blokes, who were old enough to know better than to swear in front of women. You can rip us off once, you won't get another chance
