Haven't eaten in here for a long time, and had heard it had been taken over. Food was lovely, good quality, and the service prompt

Mixed starter just ok, curry not so great. Failed again to find a decent curry in Maghull.

Fairly average food. Ordered there special balti which was OK nothing special and a peshwsri naan that was quite dry and had probably cone out of freezer

Great choice of food plus chef specials, had kerala prawn curry delish😋big bottles of cobra to wash it down all in all tip top 👍

Have always eaten here in the past but was really disappointed in the quality of the food we received. The food was bland and everything tasted the same.

Gone right downhill. Its just average takeaway food. Madras and buna ssuce just watery and bland. Small amounts of meats king prawns are not king. Pickle tray poor and nan dry Quite expensive 2 pop pickle tray 2 meals £41 God whats happened to the place

Decided to go for a meal here at last minute with our vegetarian friends. We weren't disappointed, friendly service, lovely food. We had garlic chicken tikka, mushroom rice, poppadoms with dip tray, keema naan and onion bhajis. I had double bacrdi and coke and hubby had 2 beers, bill was 50£. Our friends said there veggie meal was lovely too!

As always Exceptional service from start to finish. Food well presented and tasty at a decent price.Been dining at this restaurant frequently over the years. A large group on another table having a great Birthday meal around 20+, I thought would hamper service. It didn’t, everyone on every table was catered for. I honestly can’t fault it, every table is timed to perfection with orders. As an additional to main courses I would recommend Coconut Rice & Mushroom Bahji to tantalise your taste buds.

Wonderful food and service. Garlic chicken tikka had lots of chicken and garlic and tasted lovely. Great food, value, service and just a unique location. You should try it. Regular favourite of mine ✨

I will start with if i could vote no stars i would !!!! Booked a table for 12 ppl. Unfortunately only 10 of the group could make the booking. So the staff decided to move 10 of us onto a table of 8 😕 leaving 2 of our party standing around the table for over 15minutes, to then tell us that they are waiting for another table to become free to sit our other 2 people. Making the customers at this table become uncomfortable as they were only half way through their meal. After a discussion on why we had been moved the staff then decided to move us back to the original table being abrupt & slamming tables together. Not very organised at all. You feel like you are putting the staff out by ordering a drink. Waited ages for warm not hot food, with hairs in. Missed naan bread & chips from the order. Didn't bother to complain as they had already ruined our night, just will never be visiting this place ever again. As this is the only Indian restaurant in Maghull you may be tempted to go as its convenient. If you are hungry want nice food & most of all a good service I would highly recommend to try a different Indian elsewhere.

I ordered a takeaway 2 x starter 2 rice 2 x naan bread 1 x la quila mixed meat special . When we got home the starters were nice . When we went to put out our main meal , it was a vegetable Balti . I called up to inform the restaurant they had given me the wrong order . The man was extremely rude and blamed me for his mistake . And he then wanted me to pay a further £2 for his mistake . My wife then had to leave our house to collect the correct meal . The service in this case was terrible.

Food is usually good but recently got a lamb madras and the sauce was basically water with some colour in….very disappointing

This place came highly recommended by friends and fellow dogwalkers. We fancied an Indian takeaway meal and wanted to support a local business. Both ordered a chicken tikka massala, our favourite dish. The staff were really friendly upon picking up the food, we had high hopes. Then we opened up the massala, which was full of water at the bottom of the plastic containet and just tasteless. The pilau rice was ok, I guess you can't do much wrong there. The garlic nan was ok too, however, the poppadoms were awful again, literally crumbling away when touching them. Never again, what a disappointment.

We wanted to thank all the staff at Lal Quila Maghull for a fabulous night last night. There were 22 of us dining and the food and service was fantastic. Everyone ordered off the menu and it was all so good. We cannot recommend them highly enough. If you get the chance please go, you will not be disappointed 👍

Food was tasty and arrived hot and on time. Don't get samosas as they are very small for the price but overall decent Indian food for the price.

Food was okay but took a 40 minute wait in the restaurant after waiting 45 minutes following phoning through the order. We realised some dishes were missing when we arrived home. The restaurant refused the 10% discount available online even though the online platform failed to take payment and we had to phone our order through . Staff in the restaurant were not apologetic. Wouldn’t use again.

My first time at an Indian restaurant, food was delicious, service was spot on. I gave it 4 stars for atmosphere as it was quite but just how I like 👍

Worse ever Indian take away. I normally order from Arong and decided to give this one a try. The food took 2.5 hours to arrive - I’m 3 miles away. When it finally came it lacked seasoning and hardly any meat, just small lumps and mostly sauce. It all seemed like it had been left standing for a long while. I won’t be ordering again, they clearly have some big issues. Arong is miles better quality and speed of service, not much more expensive either

Good Indian restaurant. They will make almost any Indian meal you ask for. I ask for something that isn't even on the menu and it's the best version of the meal I've ever had. It doesn't look very inviting from outside as it's next to a petrol station but the food is excellent. Have ate in the restaurant and had many takeaways also.

Still not turned up, 2 hours late, they hung up on the phone twice, after over 20 calls. Shocking.

Booked a table for 6 adults and 2 small children for New Years Eve. The menu was a set menu but plenty of choice. Both children were accommodated, one with allergies. We had an excellent meal with excellent service. We have been coming to this restaurant for over twenty years and never had a bad meal. Highly recommend this restaurant. Well done to the team!

Always had lovely food when having a takeaway meal from lal qila. However our lamb buna last night was like water and greasey. I think it had been left standing so grease was on top and hadnt been stirred before putting into takeaway containers. Wont be having another one for a very long time, which is a shame as the meal was for my husbands birthday.

What a disappointment. Not sure if there was only 2 working but service was great when you could get it. Had hardly any beer options. Waited 40 minutes for a starter then a further 50 minutes for a main. This is the 2nd time I have had to highlight that they are putting a very low quantity of meat in there mains. The first time fair enough errors are made but 2nd time is deliberate. Food and service is usually on point. Very disappointing to see prices increase and food quantities decrease. We are all feeling the pinch but come on what’s happened??

I have been going to the Lal Qila for over 20 years and have always rated the food and service highly. However last night's experience was anything but. The restaurant was half full which made a nice change, but only 1 member of staff serving both in-house guests and take away guests. The poor guy was completely overstretched. We waited aporox 50 minutes for our starter and another 45 minutes for the main course. The biggest disappointment of the night was the main course lamb dish. Where was the lamb? Hardly any meat in the meal at all. Really poor value for money given the recent price increases. The management really need to up their game. Such a shame as it used to be a great place to go. So disappointed.

Local Indian either dine in or take away. Its a little tired in its decor and could probably do with a refresh. BUT Never had a disappointing meal though I've had items missing when having a takeaway. Staff / owner are lovely. RECENTLY started to close Tuesdays

It’s a shame that this restaurant is located right by a petrol forecourt because this might put people off. But persevere because the food is really good, with some interesting unusual dishes and the best onion bhajis ever

We have been going to this restaurant and never had a complaint.We went last night for the first time in a while,the restaurant is dirty and needs a good clean and paint and the food is terrible.We will not be going here again until they get a new chef and the place has been cleaned up.So disappointing as in the past we have always had a good meal here and the place was clean,not sure what has happened????

Myself and husband are regular at this Indian always nice food and service. On this occasion we brought the family of 4adults and 2 children. Kids wanted fish fingers with kids meal only to be told no fish fingers ok they will have nuggets, after the kids finished the meal they wanted their ice cream again to be told no ice cream 😩 this was not refunded from the kids price of meal. Also the service was very bad as they where more interested in the take out part around 10 people all waiting to collect there food when really they should of been looking after us but they weren’t interested, we where trying to eat our meal with all these people standing around by our table it was so bad, they have now lost 2 loyal customers who always go for a indian here. Maybe this is why it’s always empty because they look after the take outs first 2/10 that’s for the drinks.

As the title says really! In my opinion based on 5 visits now, the food has always been of a good standard and I will return again. We had to wait 1 hr 15min for a takeaway once when quoted 40 mins, but they gave us a bottle of wine and were sincerely sorry. Since then I give them an hour when they quote 40 mins, it works. The other minor negative is that they are a bit mean on portion size compared to some others, but I am sure most agree, a bit less of a good thing is better than a plate full of average or poor food. The staff have always been polite at every visit.

My husband and I went for our evening meal around 6pm on Friday 23rd July The restaurant was quiet but the takeaway was quite busy. We both had starters and a main meal with sides. after using this restaurant for over 10 years i can no longer reccomend the service is shocking do not use as a takeaway add 1 hour at least on all order times for takeaway or honestly 2 hours

The chicken takeaway masala from here is amazing. Its sweet and spicy at the same time. Portions are huge and the naan bread is great. I would go here again and its the best curry place in Maghull no 🧢

Pedí comida para llevar para recoger y me dijeron que entre 30 y 45 minutos, lo cual no es un problema, así que aparecí y esperé. Estaba ocupado, lo que no me importó y esperaba que tomara más de 45 minutos.Recibí mi comida y me la llevé a casa para encontrar que se habían perdido un entrante (cebolla Bhaji) y el pan naan y estaba tibio. Al gastar 35 en comida para llevar, esperas que todo esté allí. El servicio en el restaurante era bueno, pero no deberían aceptar pedidos por teléfono si no pueden seguir el ritmo.Decepcionante y no los volveré a usar

I actually ordered a delivery from bay of Bombay as the one thing I've been craving since lockdown is an authentic curry. It was a sad week for me this week marking what would have been my son's 6th birthday without him. So tonight I got the children their choice of takeaway and treated myself. I received a call from this restaurant asking me to.collect my food. I said I requested delivery. With 3 children I.had no way of getting to them. I was told they aren't doing deliveries. I was told how to submit for a refund. I was a bit sad. However then the manager said he would deliver. I was so thankful. He got lost as I live on a new estate but was really nice about everything I will be purchasing again. Food was lovely and customer service surpassed any I could even hope for. Thank you to the team

Curries weren't particularly nice, same was true of both vegetarian and meat dishes. Only thing that was ok was the tandoori meat. This isn't a problem exclusive to LaQila, it's the same with most of the Indian restaurants around here, the curries are just dull, like something you'd get from 40 years ago. Indian food has moved on leaps and bounds in other parts of the country, and yet strangely here, it hasn't. I often wonder why restaurateurs here don't visit one of the these amazing curry places (e.g., Tamatanga in Birmingham) and try to recreate these amazing dishes? You'd absolutely destroy the competition if you could. Even the Himalayan places by Crosby are much better, and worth the extra 15 min drive.

This experience was really poor. Takeaway, poppadoms were in a million pieces, I ordered a chicken tikka madras, I'd get more heat from a bowl of scouse, I think the chips where from maccy d's. A shame really as last time before xmas was quite good.

La gente puede desanimarse por su ubicación dentro del garaje esso. No se Excelente curry. Personal amable que siempre se desvive. Siempre atenderán diferentes gustos. Siempre pido guisantes de keema (keema Matar) que no están en el menú pero lo hacen por ti. Excelente lugar

primera visita . . . fue recomendado por la Bahía de Bengala a la vuelta de la esquina. . . el restaurante estaba realmente desordenado cuando nosotros (como pareja) entramos, obviamente habían estado ocupados pero no para limpiar las mesas o la basura en el piso, no fue una gran bienvenida. Los camareros definitivamente estaban descontentos con su trabajo y uno de ellos nos decía "Ni siquiera quiero estar aquí" como si tuviéramos la culpa de su infelicidad. . . nos sentimos totalmente apresurados, no nos preguntaron si nos gustaría un postre o café y la factura fue presentada sin que la pidiéramos, luego nos pidieron que termináramos nuestras bebidas en la puerta principal para que pudieran limpiar la mesa. . . solo eran las 11. 20 pm, así que no es particularmente tarde. . nos estaban dando una comida de 60 (y para ser sincero, la comida era buena, pero solo se servía con temperatura tibia). . . Definitivamente no volveré aquí ya que hay muchas opciones mucho mejores disponibles. Si este restaurante quiere pensar en la futura costumbre de devolución, debe animarse y tratar a sus clientes que pagan con un poco más de dignidad y alegría. . . . Como dice el sabio refrán, 'no abras una tienda si no te gusta sonreír'. . . . .

Visited a few times as a couple, decided to do a large family party here. Glad we did, absolutely fantastic. By far the best Indian around.

Dos jóvenes camareros estaban parados pero muy miserables, ya que ninguno de ellos veía una sonrisa. Finalmente, uno se nos acercó para preguntarnos qué queríamos, pedimos bebidas que parecían sorprenderlo, luego nos preguntó qué queríamos comer. A los principiantes les llevó mucho tiempo llegar, luego les llevó a los platos principales una media hora, parecían centrarse más en la comida para llevar que en los clientes que esperaban. Tuve un Balti estaba bien, excepto que era muy aceitoso. Mi esposa disfrutó lo que tenía. Los inodoros no han cambiado, ya que el grifo izquierdo en los caballeros estaba muy perdido en el lavabo.

Saw this restaurant on a Tripadvisor search & it did not disappoint! Restaurant very smart & clean, waiters extremely helpful & friendly plus the food was amazing! We will be back!

Our first visit, but definitely won’t be our last. We took the kids out for dinner tonight and we all absolutely loved the food. The staff were lovely, very attentive and were brilliant with the kids. We will definitely be back!

Having had many a takeaway from many Asian restaurants in the past last night was an delightful experience. The food was delicious, the chicken was fresh and quite literally 'melt in the mouth'. To date (I've only been a few times) I have not been disappointed at all, last night for whatever reason though was really tasty! I had the Chicken Tikka Vinderloo and my Mrs had the Madras, standard I know but very well put together. In my opinion this is by far the best choice for a takeaway in the area and I would highly recommend.

Had a catered event there and everything was done well. No complaints. Food was prepared fresh and was good. All the guests appreciated the variety.Have seen numerous bad reviews here about the buffet so not sure whats going on? For our catered event (100+ people) they made everything fresh so it was good.

Acabamos de tener una excelente comida aquí, siempre hemos estado para llevar antes, pero esta fue la primera vez que nos hemos ido a sentar en la comida. El equipo es encantador, amable y atento. Comimos una variedad de curries desde muy suaves hasta muy calientes y todos estaban deliciosos. Era el cumpleaños de nuestra hija y tuvimos una hermosa sorpresa para terminar.

Must say not one to write reviews & La Qualia did used to be nice. However yesterday left us very disappointed. Quality of food was poor, it did not taste fresh, and the oil popadoms was cooked in was either 1. out of date or 2. over cooked - leaving a disgusting smell and taste, only to be stupidly replaced by the same ones once complained (like we wouldn’t notice). Then finally some fresh ones, when complained again! It felt like we were in the wrong when complained to staff over it, as he was a little argumentative. Sorry mate I know what a fresh poppadom should taste like and fresh food. We couldn’t be bothered complaining about the rest, as not in our nature. Tbh Would have been better getting a Indian from m n s better value for money and nicer! Wasted our money 100% won’t be going back again.

I always used to enjoy this restaurant, but on my last visit, just a week ago, and not having been for 4 months, it was, at best mediocre..... Shame, for a year ago it was excellent.... Other than the quality of the food I have no idea why that has changed.....

We have just returned from another wonderful evening at Lal Qila. Cannot fault the food, the children’s meals are brilliant and the portions are perfect. Our mains were lovely & I even brought home a doggy bag! The service is brilliant, they looked after us and made our children feel very welcome, taking them to wave to the chef and making them hats. Can’t wait to go back.

My mate and I came to eat, we found this restaurant very hard to find as it backs onto the road to another Indian restaurant. It’s actually beside a petrol station on the main road A59.

Went with some friends. The service was good, and the food. Plenty of it too. There’s a fair bit of choice if you’re not eating meat.

Been here a couple times for a sit down meal and also had take outs, the food is exceptional and the service is A1. Would defiantly recommend this restaurant. Excellent value for money.

Todos recibimos nuestra comida al mismo tiempo y todos nos comprometimos con lo sabrosa que era la comida. El servicio fue muy bueno y definitivamente regresaré allí.

Me sorprendió gratamente esta pequeña joya que introduje mi otra mitad para una comida rápida antes de las películas en Switch Island. . Nada fue demasiado para ellos y nuestras comidas salieron rápidamente cuando destacamos que necesitábamos alejarnos de la pantalla de manera oportuna. Poppadam fresco a la espera de nuestros platos principales. Tanto nuestros curries Bhuna como Dopiaza fueron cocinados a la perfección. Martín pescador para lavar! ¡Todavía tenía tiempo para los kulfi! La comida era buena para el valor. ?

Fuimos en el último minuto, fin de año. Teníamos el menú fijo que estaba disponible en la noche. Todos teníamos el mismo entrante, que era una mezcla de poppadom y cebolla, seguido del kebab, muy sabroso. Todos teníamos diferentes curries, desde muy suaves hasta muy calientes. Todos los curries eran muy sabrosos. Servido con dos lados diferentes. También el pan naan y el arroz pilau. Toda la comida estaba deliciosa. El tamaño de las porciones es suficiente.
