After a rainy guided tour of Port Sunlight we were cold and hungry, the gallery cafe was just across the road and was just what we needed. Had reasonably priced jacket potato with chilli and salad which was very good. The cafe is a bit dark and dismal but the food was good.

Lovely service and food. The young lady who served me was absolutely delightful (Katie) a lovely warm welcome , prompt service and very chatty . Her customer service skills for someone so young were refreshing and a joy to experience. I only had toast and a coffee but both were presented nicely and very tasty. Thank you

My husband and I usually go at least once a month but we wont be back. just ordered egg salad sandwich and a ham salad sandwich small portion of chips. and 2 diet cokes costing just unde £20 . breadf was not buttered just water cress on sandwiches, no cucumber, no onion, no tomatoe, in other words no salad. I asked the chap behind the till to get some more egg on sandwich as there was hardly any on. and as its expensive for what you get it was a poor experience. never had a problem before but hey ho it is now.

This lovely gallery had been recommended to us by several people. It was well worth the detour that it required on a journey north. Driving through the exquisite, picturesque Port Sunlight Village to reach it was charming in itself. Once inside, we were met by friendly, knowledgeable staff, who talked us through the main plan and pointed out the special exhibition of the Flower Fairies of Cecily Mary Barker. We enjoyed it all, found it very well curated and have determined to return as time constraints meant we could not see it all. The gallery was free to visit including the special exhibition and well worth the suggested donation of £5 which we had no hesitation in making.

Jam packed with exhibits which are so well displayed and fascinating. Fascinating to think the bulk of exhibits were owned by a single family and reminded me of the Burrell collection in Glasgow. This is part of the Port Sunlight estate with a number of sites which are within easy walking distance of each other. I can't recommend this gallery highly enough. You could easily spend the whole day in the area too. We'll be back soon, I'm sure.

Spent the weekend in Liverpool and wanted to pop into Port Sunlight on the way home to see the village and the museum but also specifically to see Vospers Salem painting. Lovely free museum which deserves donations and a fabulous collection of everything. The Boodles exhibition on currently is sparkly and beautiful and generally well worth a trip. Lovely staff and experience.

Port Sunlight is such an interesting village. It's as if it was frozen in time. At the heart of it is the beautiful, glass-domed museum and art gallery. It's a real treat to visit. There isn't as much as one of the national museums, but it's got a very good collection and it's well laid out. I never get bored with visiting. If you are in the area, do pop in.

This is a medium sized art gallery holding the Lord and Lady Lever's art collection. To my surprise I found the Wedgwood Gallery very interesting. But generally I am not sure that the Levers and I share the same taste in art. The cafe was fine, but very slow.

The Gallery was especially created to gather together some of the amazing collection of items grom around the world collected by Lord Lever. Very pleasant experience in the gallery and the surrounding area. Kunichika exhibition good. Unfortunately Port Sunlight museum next door was closed (on a Tuesday). Quite busy, especially the restaurant as apparently there were about 6 coachloads on the day, mainly older people. Very helpful staff in gift shop. Free lockers (unlike the other Liverpool museums I believe).

The art gallery and the village are superb and well worth a visit but, the cafe is dire. Reminded us of British Rail catering in the 1970s. My lunch was two pieces of slightly toasted cut loaf and a pot of jam. My wife's cheese and pickle sandwich was a micro slice of cheap cheese and a lot of very cheap pickle. Do visit the gallery, quite outstanding but, take your own thermos flask!

I would like to express my congratulations to all of the “team" who look after the Lady Lever Art Gallery. My partner and I re-visited from the Midlands, after a gap of four years. There were new layouts to enjoy and a very interesting exhibition about John Simpson and the Gypsy Lore Society. I love the opportunity to photograph the exhibits (without flash) and the lighting is perfect for viewing the stunning paintings, sculptures, furniture and artifacts. We visited four years ago and enjoyed another 5 hours of wonder. It is my very favourite art gallery. The bigger galleries in London, New York etc have more to show, but I love the atmosphere in the Lady Lever Art Gallery. An additional treat this year was meeting a guide called Jan, who was generous enough to share her expert knowledge of a lot of the paintings and exhibits. She is, without a doubt, a wonderful guide who has the perfect ability to put across her amazing knowledge of the art on display. Top all that off with a delicious lunch and excellent COVID-19 safety procedures and it was a perfect way to spend a day out of the heavy rain. Well done everyone.

It is FREE to enter and inside the large white stone building there are many exhibits on show from classical paintings and sculptures to art produced by local schools. But there is more, particularly for parents with young ones. The activity centre for children is really good, it has staff (not sure if you can leave them) but it’s great to engage the cherubs there. The Gallery itself was full of some amazing works of art from the pre Raphelite era and you could get close enough to examine them in great detail. Audio guides are available to rent at a reasonable cost, especially as the actual museum is free, and they give you a greater insight into the artwork on display. The ever changing temporary exhibitions are also worth seeing and the reasonably priced cafe is a welcome break below. We recently paid a return visit to this wonderful gem of a gallery built up by Lord Lever of Lever Brothers fame and the manufacturers of Sunlight soap. This review is about the cafe in the basement of the restaurant which we found very disappointing and takes the edge of the visit to the museum. We ordered a three cheese toastie, not very appetizing on cheap bread. Sounded considerably better than it was. Also we ordered a prawn sandwich in Marie Rose sauce. There was no sauce on the prawns and the whole thing was dry and very 1960s. Of course, the main attraction was the artworks but nowadays a good cafe can bring in repeat visits and much needed income. Instead the garden centre cafe up the road appears to be thriving. Let's hope there is an improvement by our next visit.

This place looks grim from the outside but on the inside it is really grim. A menu on the wall that only shows a few selected prices, talking of which fish and chips ,which will take about 15 minutes to cook in dirty oil and served in a tray will set you back £9.60. That's right £9.60 The fryers are covered in filthy oil which the two uninterested serving staff seem incapable of wiping up and the place looks disgusting. Once tried never again !

Service was great, no problem. However the steak let the meal down. Asked for medium rare, but because it was served on a skillet the carried on cook. By the time it was served, the steak was well done.

I visit regularly with my elderly Mum who suffers with Alzheimer’s. The food is consistently good ( Best Toasted Teacakes anywhere ) But equally important - The staff are lovely. I would particularly mention Alice who has gone above and beyond to welcome us.

Lunchtime walk in. We had the mini roast and dessert deal. Proper veg x3 + roasties and roast chicken/pork. Fruit crumble and custard desert. All washed down with a pot of tea. Tasty and well cooked. Friendly staff and excellent value for money at £10 per head.
