Labrows Bistro Bar in Torbay

A fantastic night was had by all as we celebrated my husband’s 60th birthday! Wayne is a marvellous host and surprised us with birthday banner 60 ballon plus no less than an indoor firework on John’s dessert of the most delicious strawberry cheesecake made by ace patisserie created Neil! We really enjoyed the Murder Mystery evening, the cast were such fun and cleverly all the tables thought it was a different character who had ‘Dunnit’! The evening was punctuated very nicely with tapas and started with a gorgeous passion fruit cocktail too!

Our returning mid week guests who previously enjoyed the tapas evening wanted to come to LaBrows for breakfast. Top quality locally sourced ingredients and home produced. Absolutely lovely. As ever, welcomed by Wayne, full of charm and bonhomie. Neil working his magic in the kitchen. Home made cakes to die for. Packets of home made chocolates, biscuits and jars of the best olives to take home. Meticulously clean. Doggy friendly. Everyone is happy.

We visited Labrows for breakfast whilst visiting friends in St Marychurch, and it was a delightful experience. The menu offers tasty alternatives, as well as the full Devon brekkie, and my rosti stack was de-li-cious! Thank you guys .... always a special, attentive welcome snd service from the lovely Wayne and first class food by Neil. Highly recommended!

I have dined at Labrows on multiple occasions, most recently today for lunch. The food is always delicious, fresh and prepared with love and care, portion sizes are fantastic, the menu has a plethora of refreshing drink options: I particularly enjoy the coolers, prices are very reasonable and the atmosphere is lovely and cosy. The table service is always very friendly and attentive, nothing is too much trouble. The cakes look fabulous and very tempting. if I could have fit one in today. I would have! Will keep returning! :)

A repeat visit to this lovely bistro bar for yheir tapas evening. The quality & options of the food provided is superb. The owners Neil in the kitchen & Wayne front of house create a great atmosphere & a relaxed & friendly experience. Some visitors to Babbacombe may find the bistro difficult to find but it is worth making the effort to do so, you will not be disappointed.

We got recommended to come here by a local while we were on holiday. We popped in for some quick lunch while our toddler was sleeping. Warm welcome as soon as we walked, great conversation about the local companies and about the drinks they serve. The chocolate cake was lush and the omelette with triple cooked chips was delicious. The service is up and beyond. So amazing! Wish we found you earlier. I’m so impressed I had to write this review before we leave. Thank you ❤️

Wonderful food and service. Highlights were the Sangria, citrus salad and tempura vegetables. One of the best meals we've had.

Everything else was closed so chose here... that sounds bad but was the only thing open in Babbacombe on a Saturday afternoon. Sounds bad but to be frank it was a true find the food and brew were lovely and you simply cannot fault the service. I KNOW where it is for next time 😁

This is my favourite place to eat in the bay! The food is 10/10 and high quality i often come for breakfast which is amazing! Neil and Wayne always make me feel so welcome. Great atmosphere. Great coffee. Great cocktails! 👌🏽

We always pop in and have a coffee and lunch or brunch when in the area walking. We are always greeted by Wayne who is the most fab front of house. Neil who does the cheffing does a superb job serving tasty food with the best hand picked ingredients around. The tapas when on the menu is ace. A great place to go for breakfast, lunch or evening.

Went for breakfast with 7 friends this morning and we were all very disappointed. Overpriced and poor quality ingredients and a frozen round hash brown does not qualify as a potato rosti I'm afraid .

A wee bit overhyped for what you get and price wise too . One lad working front of house and he was overworked in my companies opinion but very efficient though so no complaints though it was a bit slow resulting in coffee being cold by time food came

My mother recommended this place after a visit last year. We were starving when we arrived. Relaxed, slow, welcoming vibe. Plenty of choice of dishes and I wanted all of them. Thankfully with the 10 dishes we chose between the four of us, we were amazed, wowed and full by the end of it all. Great two man team delivering better tapas than you can get in Spain! Highly recommend.

Deliciously fresh and thoughtful menu, and equally amazing and attentive service.

This is a real gem of a restaurant serving very high quality, freshly prepared food in a clean and cosy setting. They serve classic British dishes along with other favourites. The staff were attentive and friendly and the menu was very reasonably priced. Definitely a place we will return too when we are next in the area. Excellent!

Surely one of the best cafés, restaurants and bars in Torquay. Hidden away from the Babbacombe Bay waterfront. Wayne, delightfully leading from the front, full of bonhomie and charm. Neil, beavering away behind the scenes in the kitchen. All food home made and freshly prepared. Cakes and puddings to die for. Cocktails. Decent wines. Great coffee. Café by day, tapas by evening on Friday and Saturday . Impeccably clean. Reasonable prices. Curiously my 5 star TripAdvisor Torbayaotearoa🇬🇧🇳🇿 reviews disappear in the ether. These people care about food and hospitality. Great food and very sunny service. We had daytime tapas and a club sandwich. All thoughtfully prepared, with superior quality ingredients. It really showed. I had some red wine which was also good. Labrows is a real find. More power to them.

I have stayed in lots of 5 star Hotels and others over the years but I have never eaten a breakfast like I was served at Labrows, if I could score 10 stars I would. I have also never eaten in such a clean place in my life. Wayne & Neil also make sure you receive a10 star friendly service. I have just been back to try the lunchtime menu which was second to none and have now booked a table to try their Tapas evening. Thank you so much for such wonderful food and lovely friendly service.

We attended Labrows on Saturday 17th October for my friends surprise baby shower. Wayne couldn’t of been more helpful in the lead up to this event - always quick to reply and very helpful everytime I popped in. On the day he was more than accommodating and service was speedy, friendly and he kept the drinks flowing! The food itself was so yummy and although tapas the portion sizes are extremely generous. Highly recommend to anyone looking to host an event here or even a chilled Saturday night out. Thanks Wayne & Neil! See you soon :)

We have been here for the tapas evening a few times and indeed booked again for next Friday. First time for a light lunch. As always excellent stuff and front man Wayne as ever full of enthusiasm and delighting the punters. Home made cakes to die for and fresh as bread for sandwiches. Another refreshingly modern café by day, restaurant on Friday and Saturday evenings. Furthermore refreshingly doggy friendly so you don't have to cross the channel and go to France to take your handbag dog out for a meal. Mind the step when leaving especially after a couple of bottles of wine.Christmas hampers now available. Thinking outside the box during this virus palaver. We look forward to a full on lunch with plenty of said wine on a chilly winter's day.Thank you Wayne and Neil and may you continue to be successful.

Came here on A Saturday night. Had gins to start, 6 tapas and extra bread, and a bottle of Rioja.Wayne was an excellent host, explained the tapas and specials. Service was prompt and efficient. All covid guidance followed. The tapas were all delicious with generous portions. Wish we had come Friday night too! PS I am a hot water drinker and mine was perfectly served in a tea pot ✅

Had breakfast in here again today. As always the food is cooked to perfection by Neil Thank you . The restaurant is spotlessly and clean and service by Wayne is top notch. Ate lunch here twice during our stay in Babbacombe on both occasions food served was wholesome & well cooked by Neil. Superb service from Wayne in this spotlessly clean restaurant. Have been recommended to try the tapas evening which we certainly will do on our next visit.

We are staying in Babbacombe for a few days and went for tapas last night. We had excellent service from Wayne who never stopped all night and everything we ordered from the menu could not be faulted. What a lovely little bistro with wonderful food, a gin menu and friendly helpful service. An evening meal not to be missed if you are in the area and now looking forward to popping in for coffee and cake soon.

Dined here last sat for the tapas and had a couple of lunches in mid week, have to say the food cooked by Neil is excellent both night and day, a varied menu a bit different from the norm with plenty of choice. The service from Wayne is first class and always makes you feel welcome. There is a very relaxed ambiance and the whole place is spotlessly clean. They also do quality pastries as well! It’s a must visit and will return.

We got 6 portions of tapas - the first 3 that came out were lovely (ham croquettes, patatas bravas and padron peppers). However, the next 3 to come out took around 20-30 mins to arrive, and when they did, were very disappointing. We got the tiger prawns which were not cooked through - completely anaemic - so we couldn’t eat half the dish. Garlic mushrooms were just mushrooms - just smothered in oil but no garlic present. Spanish omelette was the last dish which was ok. When we mentioned about the prawns not being cooked, the waiter just said ‘ok’ and didn’t offer any money off. However, the waiter was the only person serving and he was rushed off his feet. Think this is also why it took ages for dishes to come out.I believe this restaurant may not have been open long and so this may be some teething problems. Inside the restaurant was lovely and the waiter was so lovely as well - food was just a bit disappointing.

Once again at this great little place, café by day, tapas and fizz Friday and Saturday evenings. Wayne courteous, enthusiastic and attentive as ever whilst your chef provides wonderful tapas dishes to share or whatever. Very reasonable prices to boot. Exceptionally clean loo. Our friends who were guests for the weekend were most impressed.

We had been visiting Torquay for the weekend when we stumbled across this place! The staff were lovely and smiley and the food was even better! Great little place for a lunch stop - would love to visit in the evening too :)

The premises are spotlessly clean (and were even before the Covid scare) and they take every safety precaution including an electronic hand sanitizer on entry.The food is always perfectly cooked and everything is delicious. They have something for everyone (even the desserts include gluten free/vegan). Amazing customer service, very friendly and always listen to what you want. Flawless. Everybody I have recommended this place to have loved it.

We often visit this cafe in babbacombe . The food there is always delicious and made with quality ingredients. They are always super friendly and wether its evening tapas and drinks or a mid week lunch, they never disappoint. I would highly recommend a visit if your in torbay.

Visited on a Saturday night for tapas. We were 6 adults and a baby. The staff were so accommodating, giving us extra space around our table for the buggy and high chair. The food was DELICIOUS. Very generous portions. We ordered everything off the main tapas menu and for the 6 of us it was the perfect amount. Had a lovely bottle of wine and a few beers and the bill at the end of the meal was a pleasant surprise. I want to especially thank the owners/management. They have been so wonderful and xarinf to my Grandma (whose birthday we were celebrating) over the last couple of years. She loves going in on a regular basis during the day for coffee etc and we really hope they have huge success with their evenings. Can’t wait to visit again.

A cracking local restaurant. A very friendly welcome and a nice atmosphere. The Tapas choice was varied, well presented and very cooked. Labrows offers a an excellent alternative to the existing local restaurants and is definitely worth visiting. Would return.

Came here with my wife for breakfast early November. Friendly staff. But that was it. Very rarely write reviews but on the good reviews? thought we would give it a try. We both had breakfast and asked for scrambled egg. How can you get scrambled egg wrong. The food was not nice. Will not be returning.

Found this cafe whilst walking around Babbacombe looking for a lunch stop. Very clean and tidy cafe. Good varied menu with excellent service from the staff, although they are probably the owners looking at other reviews. If I was local I would make this a regular haunt! Great little place.

What a lovely clean & fresh place! Nice to have places like this modernising & smartening up Reddenhill Road. Popped in for coffee & had some fruit crumble (which was to die for - highly recommend!). Definitely will be returning for lunch/tapas.

Really nice breakfast, hot food, good portion & nice pot of tea. So much consideration into the dinnerware used & presentation. Interior so much better, modern and clean than the previous owners. Will definitely be back for more & a festive lunch, menu looks yummy!

We went for a family meal and had the most amazing experience, the food is incredible as is the service. Can’t recommend enough.

We attended a charity event which was a Spanish Tapas Themed evening. Wayne and Neil were excellent hosts and worked very hard, looking after the guests. We had Prosecco on arrival and a selection of tapas, all of it good. My particular favourite being the ham croquettes and patatas bravas. I enjoyed two of the local gins served from the bar. We had a very enjoyable evening amongst friends and would definitely recommend it. They do a regular Friday night tapas evening too which would be worth a try.

Writing on behalf of my Mum who attended the Rowcroft Tapas Night on Friday 13th Sept. She had a wonderful time, with excellent food and service. She has been to Labrows on previous occasions for lunch and always appreciates the care that is taken by the proprietors to ensure she is well looked after. The room is always spotlessly clean and the food of good quality.

We had a table for 4 on a Saturday evening for tapas. The welcome we received was very warm and we were served with an excellent (moderately priced) wine and some olives to nibble on. We chose 10 dishes between us and they were more than enough. The standout dishes for me were the crab croquettes, the Spanish black pudding with caramelised red onion and the patatas bravadas (hope that’s spelt correctly), Ian particularly liked the chorizo in honey!! There were only 2 tables dining - us and a table of 6, I hope word gets around that this is a lovely place to to spend an evening as they deserve success. Will be returning.

We have meaning to revisit this fab little café by day, restaurant on a Friday evening and now extended to Saturdays. We brought along our wonderful neighbours and even Melinda's partner was very impressed with the energetic service from the lovely Wayne and delicious range of tapas. With hindsight we probably over ordered by one or two and sadly couldn't quite polish it all off. A couple of bottles of very pleasant wine to wash it down and presented with a bill of exceptional value! Thank you guys and best wishes for the future of your business enterprise.

Went here for tapas in the evening with friends and had a great night! Food and wine were great quality and we loved the interior decor. The place was very welcoming and the chef is also happy to do something different from the menu to suit dietary requirements if pre booked.

Brilliant selection on the tapas menu and everything tasted exceptional and was so well presented. We found the tapas came out perfectly timed to when we finished the plate before and nothing was too much trouble.

Just returned from our first visit. Although it's been open for some time and us living nearby, we only noticed it a week or so back so wanted to give it a try. Apparently it has been open on a Friday night for some time but this was only the second Saturday, so it was quiet - not that that bothered us.

What can I say. Excellent food ,great atmosphere,quite music in the background so we could have a conversation , a very enjoyable evening . Our first time and will definitely be back . Well done you guys .

Without doubt, the most welcoming owners ever. The food was simply excellent whatever we chose as we went there each day for our main meal. Would go there each time we re-visit Babbacombe - so clean and comfortable.

Upon recommendation booked into this new café/bar/restaurant which specialises in tapas on a Friday evening and very good it is too. Neil co owner is your chef and will pop out to chat. Upon arrival had the place to ourselves which was very nice and welcomed by the energetic and engaging front man and other co owner, Wayne. Gay as a lark in spring and enthusiastic about their new business. Refurbished modern décor. Mind the step upon leaving after a couple of bottles of their very good wine haha.
