Great service and friendly staff. Good quality produce, enjoyed a burger, wife's was greasy. Unsure if you get value for money.

Disappointed by the quality of food, only the mussels were as expected. Small portions, overpriced. Example: adding bread to the mussels for 3.75 GBP gets you literally 3 (!) miniature slices of baguette! Burger was not eadible for the kids (rarely ever happens). Many better alternatives available in Paignton for sure...

Arrived at about 1945, with our dog, on a Saturday night and seated no problem in a nice table looking out on to the green at the rear. It was relatively quiet. To the untrained eye, it looks like you have to come through late night burger bar to get to the restaurant. The waitress was very pleasant, if not over attentive but I believe she had only been there a few weeks. Nothing was too much trouble for her, though. I had the Spanish sausage starter. This was ok. For the mains, we had the chicken burger and the spicey burger. Both were actually very good. Along with a side portion of chips. They had a varied menu detailed on the wall. Found the salt and pepper pots/shakers to be the type you just get from Tesco, you know ones you can just twist the top to grind the salt/pepper. Wouldn't look out of place in a " Caf ". The vinegar was presented in a Sarsons bottle. Decent food. Our second holiday to Paignton couldn’t pass without another visit to The Local. Didn’t book, just called in on the off chance of a free table. We were in luck. Food was absolutely delicious and the staff were so friendly and attentive. Would recommend to anyone and will definitely be back if we holiday here again.

Great people, place, location and food. We went for My mums birthday celebration and it was fantastic from start to finish. The waiter was wonderful, very friendly, attentive and very understanding after we ordered all the food :-). The Food itself was very tasty, I had the brie to start, steak and ale pie for main and just about squeezed in a giant profiterole with baileys custard (with a bit of help) - everything was delicious!! Garlic bread, loaded fries, pizza, burgers were also ordered by other party members and again looked amazing and I was told, tasted fantastic too!! The restaurant is Dog friendly - our dog was welcomed with a bowl of clean fresh water, treats and lots of fuss which is always appreciated. Thank you for such a warm welcome and a great dining experience to help my mum celebrate her birthday.

Absolutely loved we've been to Paignton a couple of times and this was the second time in as many days on this visit. I had the BBQ platter on my 1st visit the wife had mussels And everything was done to perfection Two days later we went for the wife's birthday. I had the tomapork steak and couldn't fault it. All the staff and chef were friendly and chatty. So on our next visit it's on our place to visit.

Enjoyed a fantastic meal at The Local. We both chose the gourmet burgers but there was an excellent selection of locally sourced alternatives on the menu. Steve really was a marvellous host; very welcoming, terrific sense of humour and demonstrated a real care in the quality of the food on offer and in his customer service. The burgers were wonderful; served surrounded by a paper bag which made eating them so much easier and saved any mess from drips etc. The Local is tastefully decorated inside and spotlessly clean. Even on a quiet night with the football on the place had a lovely vibe. We chose it based on Trip Advisor recommendations and it more than lived up to all the good things that were said about it. Well worth a visit!

The food is exceptional, we had a wonderful time, lovely atmosphere. Recommend the fish mixed grill. Unfortunately we can’t return, but would if we could !

Don’t be put off by the lack of kerb appeal. Walk past the kitchen and servers to a very relaxed and friendly restaurant overlooking a large public grassed area. Steve the main man was attentive and customer focused. We went for the whole place that had allegedly been caught that day. It was fabulous and so tasty Well done chef

The restaurant is a real surprise, opening from a corridor past the kitchen into a bright and airy room, looking out over a local park. The food was absolutely delicious, so well presented. There were many dishes on the menu that we would like to have tried, it’s a shame we don’t live closer. The staff were friendly and professional and went above and beyond to return my jacket that I had left behind

Booked last minute for a meal Sat 22nd June. Food was outstanding and service just as good. Starters- camembert really good Mains- venison wellington and chicken Both done to a very high standard. Venison was done medium - rare the way it should be. Was stuffed after two courses but forced ourselves to have dessert. Worth every penny and will go again if back in the area.

Wow what a little gem of a place. We ate here on a Saturday night and we were not disappointed. The service was great and Steve made us feel welcome and he was very attentive. The food was amazing and we would recommend the steak, venison wellington and the ‘Tomapork’ - all of which were delicious. We also had a section of starters and desserts and we all thoroughly enjoyed everything about the food which was well presented, perfectly cooked and reasonably priced. We will certainly be back and highly recommend The Local Grill if you are ever in or around Paignton.

Why are there so few places like this? We need more home cooking and more salad options. I was so surprised at the size of the prawn salad. It was huge....I had to share it with my daughter. The scampi, chips and salad were delicious. Best food we have had in a long time from a takeaway.

So disappointed. No flavour at all, yorkshire pudding was more like a corn pudding Only veg with taste was the red cabbage

Had the 3 meat roast last Sunday (31st March). It was absolutely delicious! Have to say the best roast I have ever eaten. It was such a generous portion with 9 veg and cauliflower cheese, I was gutted I couldn't eat it all! We went there on our last day, and wish we had eaten in this place sooner as the whole menu sounded delicious, would have eaten there every night to try different things. Definately worth a visit, you won't be disappointed. Massive thumbs up, can't wait to go back.

Really friendly service and nice atmosphere, the place filled up quickly on a Tuesday evening. Burgers looked great but not 100% convinced. Would probably try the steak as they looked great on other tables. Also could do with a bigger selection of beers as there was just a choice of two.

To be honest we weren't expecting this place to be as good as it was. Food was very tasty and the service was very friendly and professional. Would recommend if you are in the area .

Beautiful Sunday roast and all the trimmings. Our table was stacked with bowls of cauliflower cheese and lovely fresh veg. Definitely one of the best roasts I've ever eaten out. My pork belly which can be slightly difficult to get right, was amazingly tender and tasty. Super and exciting options on the menu, I want to come back here! I can't get the vision of the bbq sharing platter being walked through the restaurant, out of my mind.. stunning and enormous! Really lovely very personal and attentive service by experienced waiting staff. On my list to return!

Last minute decision. Was very nice . Ordered the beef and pork plus 2 desserts. Lots of different veg. Only gripe only one tub of gravy wasn't enough. But overall very good thankyou

Service was excellent, found the mussels were a bit vinegary for our taste but that's all personal, monkfish chowder was really good as was the chocolate torte desert and a nice merlot too

I lived in Paignton all my life and remember this place as Pappers for an end of the night kebab. Since Andy took over for what ever reason I’ve not been in . That has been a massive mistake went there tonight for a meal with a mate and was blown away by the quality of the food . The place is very nicely done out very clean and the food OMG fantastic. Will definitely be telling everyone about it and will definitely be back . I seriously recommend this great restaurant . Gary Bond owner of Leisure 2000 .

Delicious food and a very family friendly atmosphere. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Even had a chat with us in a quieter moment. My wife said the Sunday roast was so nice, she was gutted she couldn’t manage to finish it. The burgers are huge and very flavourful. There is no way you are leaving this place without a full belly. Highly recommend.

Our last sample of the food experience in Paignton over a few days and this one was pretty impressive. The chef knows how to cook a Steak and according to the misses the Lamb Chomp was pretty exceptional as well. Good service, Dog friendly and great food. You should give them a go when you're next there.

The service and food was efficient, friendly, of a high quality. On speaking to the staff and owner, food is locally sourced, prepped on the premises and Andy makes his own sauces to compliment the tasty food. Will definitely be going back, can't recommend this local eatery enough. The front of house staff, Steve, is informative on the food and wines to go with the meal.👍

Staying in Paignton for a few days, always struggle to find somewhere to have evening meal. Looked for best restaurants and the Local Gastro Bar and Grill came out on top. We were a little worried when looking for prices when it said “call for a quote”. But we chose to eat here and Chef Andy explained that he couldn’t provide fixed prices due to the variable costs of the fresh locally sourced ingredients. We needn’t have worried our meal for two of Sea-bass and Moules Mariniere plus a good bottle of Sauvignon Blanc came to £65, superbly cooked and well presented.. Waitress Bee was a breath of fresh air in these difficult times for the restaurant industry.

So lovely. Perfect restaurant, lovely staff, amazing food options, really enjoyed by both the adults and the kids. We just chanced upon it wandering around Paignton and are delighted we did. Good luck and thank you.

What a gem of a place. Started with such a friendly welcome by the staff, including the chef as the kitchen is completely visible, behind glass. Seated at a lovely high table. Extremely clean and well looked after interior. Nice selection of drinks and my wife's pink g&t was one of the best she said she's had. For food, I had the Bbq mixed grill. All that's going to last a couple of days it was so big. Great selection of meats on it. My wife had salmon on zucchini spaghetti! Different, but very very tasty. When the bill came I was pleasantly surprised as it was very reasonable. All in all a lovely evening with lovely food and exemplary service. Def a go back to bistro.

We came as a family of 6 for a Sunday lunch last week. The service was fantastic and staff were very attentive. Food was fabulous, there was lots of it and loads of different veg which we loved. Highly recommend and I'd return in future.

Muscles were closed shut one had 4 one had 3

Had six muscels had not opened which could of been dead before hand which on Google suggests not to eat or you will become ill after calling up he said we could eat them if we want and didn't offer any help you are suppose to check all muxels to prevent us to become ill. Awful service awful food. No quality control I want a refund

Called in Saturday without a reservation. Staff helpful and accommodating. Had the pork tenderloin which was amazing. Pork was melt in mouth. In fairness all food that table had was excellent. Will definitely be my go to place next time vanishing family in Paignton.

7 of us went in today, awesomeness roast dinner, all fresh veg 9 of them, grandson had a burger which which he niled, great lunch all round.

Wow amazing food. What a little gem. It doesn't look very big from the outside but it is lovely once you go through to the seating area. The menu is so nice we were spoiled for choice. The staff and service was 1st class and the food was amazing. Wow we will be returning and would recommend it. Price wise it was not overpriced for the quality of food and service. Thank you. Been coming to Paignton for years and never tried this place, how I regret that now, the food was amazing the service was also amazing ,all round great dining experience and a must for anyone who enjoys good quality. Places like this deserve to be recognised and I wish them every success in the future. 5 stars is not enough ✨️

Food was good, burger a little cold but nothing a quick blast in microwave couldn’t sort. Lovely cheesy chips and good homemade coleslaw. Very happy and full!!!!🙂

Hello first time trying a roast dinner for myself and my partner.absolutely excellent food. the only thing i will suggest would be maybe a separate container for each meal. other than that I can't fault the service and the food quality. thank you so much.

First time ordering and I don't think I'll order the roast again.... The roast potatoes tasted strongly of bacon fat, which instantly turned my stomach and most of the veg had a really weird taste. Also not enough gravy and it was very runny. For the amount I spent, I expected a lot more. The pudding portion is tiny. The only things I actually ate was the cheesey leeks and a few peas and beans. It did arrive hot though 🤷🏻‍♀️

Try updating your opening times ! People might take the time to travel only to find out your closed although your wed site says otherwise ? We won’t be making a return journey!

Food was cold. Vegetarian burger was a beef burger, so I couldn't eat it. Chips tasted like McCaine oven chips. Will not be ordering from them again.

17 November we booked table for 8 people we were the only people in the place, plus two more. The place was cold and the food was not very good.We were celebrating a 50th birthday we felt The waiter just wanted close up for the night. Not impressed.

The trailer park fries were slightly disappointing - with a price tag of £8.50 we were expecting something special! Would have been better minus the cheese sauce and plus grated cheese. Burger was good. Pizza was average - was expecting a bigger pizza, didn't look like a large 12 inch, unless the pizza delivered was the wrong size? Overall good, but expect better when paying £40+

My wife booked here. Wasnt expecting to be anything more than café food . How wrong was I. Our host wonderful and friendly. All our meals was faultless. Will definitely recommend and return.

Absolutely superb food and fantastic service once again. Andy and Steve looked after our table of 14 for my birthday fantastically. Food was amazing. Short notice booking and more than happy to accommodate a large group. Nice andnfast service and great selection of dishes.

Poor quality food, gave me battered chicken breast which I didn’t ask for, when cut open it was raw inside, put me straight off as it was inedible, a mozzarella stick in a glass of something, partner had pasta dish which was cooked ok but no taste, the whole meal for £47 was a total waste of money, shall not be returning,

The food was nice but not outstanding yet very expensive. The waiter not very friendly or cheerful and seemed very stressed despite it not being very busy, several tables not occupied yet said "I will get to you when I can", this was first thing he said to us after showing us to our table. Everything is extra e.g. burger doesn't come with anything, you pay for every side such as fries. We wouldn't go back I'm afraid.

The food here is outstanding! Enjoyed a perfect steak meal followed by one of the best desserts I've had. Fantastic service by the host; friendly and funny. We all enjoyed so mu h we returned the next day for Sunday lunch which was superb. You really must eat here if you visit Paignton

Have eaten here before and it’s first class. First time as a takeaway and it certainly didn’t disappoint!! Fab food and definitely recommend!

Visited with my girlfriend to see what she thought and she loves it here (I was already a fan). We booked a family birthday meal on the back of that visit for 21 people and everyone was catered for and well looked after by the Team throughout the evening. The food is always great, love the restaurant location and choices available suit everyone of all ages.

An excellent family meal with 6 adults 2 children and a baby. Selection ranged from pizza, classy burgers to sophisticated gastro meals. All super fresh, local, and very tasty. A great selection of daily specials according to local availability. The staff were super efficient and friendly. It was so good we went back for our end of holiday/Ruby wedding celebration. Everything was superb again. Highly recommended.

31/07/22 Totally wonderful Sunday roast, so many meats to choose from very moist and tasty, I would say the amount of food they bring out, is a serving and a half, drinks reasonably priced too, very highly recommended. Will definitely come back.

Great food, friendly service, highly recommend!

We went here initially as a last resort but we're very pleasantly surprised when it turned out to be an excellent choice and new go-to for local friends. The drinks came fast and especially the G&T was presented in a great way using different fruit, including pomegranate which worked really well. The choice of the menu is varied. We had the baked camembert, the calamari, and Mussels with chips, and a side of onion rings. We all thoroughly enjoyed the meal, and our first dinner when we are visiting again, will be here.

Absolutely brilliant. Myself and my grandmother (who is in a power wheelchair) just popped in after a few disappointing letdowns from other restaurants, the service and dishes we were given was fantastic. Definitely a gem hidden away.

5 of us called in on a Saturday night round about 7:30 we ordered 5 starters and 5 main courses plus a round of drinks which came to around £150 pacifically went there after reading the reviews. of which I wasn't quite impressed with the starters however the waiter was very polite and very obliging

Awesome interior design. But the service sucks . Didn't get a menu just told to look at the wall menus which had a bad selection and in my mind from what I had seen being served where all over priced . Then another group came in and instantly got given menus. I asked the waiter and he said "WE DON'T PROMOTE THE OTHER MENU " LOL WHAT A JOKE. i then asked for the menu which had a vast selection of low cost food . What a bunch of money grabbing c###s!!

This is THE restaurant to choose. Simple layout, nicely furnished, easy big blackboard food choices. Delicious food (e.g. Woodmans pasta) good service and a chef that pops out to see if people are smiling.. that's how confident he is that his food is good....he's right !
