La Salle Verte in Dover

I have just visited this wonderful place with very friendly staff and amazing food. They kindly catered for gluten-free for me.what a gem to discover whilst walking around Dover in the rain. Thanks so much for making our visit so enjoyable. Highly recommended 👌

I visited early, had a large coffee and relaxed. I moved on before stopping somewhere else for brunch (to my regret). I will be back to Salle Vert next time for breakfast - great choice and pastries/homemade biscuits.

WOW….. what an amazing find on a day trip to Dover. Staff so helpful and attentive. I was what u would call a bit of an awkward customer. But the staff were so helpful. All 4 of us ate & all was amazing Very quick service even though the cafe was very busy. We had jacket potato, Cajun wrap, omelette, & a prawn salad! All fresh & wonderful! Great price. Amazing atmosphere . And what a gem to find the beautiful garden out the back Many thanks team Will definitely come again & recomend

I have Lived in Dover a for a long time now discovered this amazing cafe recently. Have been a handful of times last time I had an amazing Brie, bacon and cranberry panini and my partner had very generous sized potato and amount of filling. The two coffees we had to go along side this were very good and very quick service considering they were extremely busy. I also discovered on a Tuesday night they have a bike meet which I shall be attending next week. In my opinion the best cafe in Dover !!

Lovely environmental, hospitable staff who are very friendly and helpful. Food was hot, nicely presented and good value for money. Noticed they cater for vegetarian and vegan. Cakes looked delicious although I didn't have one

Was not impressed at all was in Dover for the day working and needed a bit to eat Ordered a jacket potato with chilli and cheese For something so simple it was really bad The potato was not cooked properly and very hard The chilli what there was of it was very bland no flavour And a very small sprinkle of cheese Would definitely not go back

Staff are very welcoming, a special mention today to Sandra, Harry & Emma for being amazing. They have great food with loads of variety and even a VEGAN option! Vegan lasagne and Vegan Raspberry Ripple cake - I have had the lasagne and it was amazing! Had the cake today and it is very very nice, you get a lot for your money here too. Thank you all! Just want to say a big thank you to this little cafe. We were in a rush to get some food before catching a ferry, and they served us lovely homemade food with generous portions, very speedily! What's more, my 19 month old toddler really enjoyed playing with the toys provided, and when she got upset at having to leave them behind, the very kind staff insisted on giving her a toy. It was really kind and overall a great experience - thank you.

I took a party of five here. My 85 year old mum has a small appetite and the menu says that I could any of the specials with a cold drink from any menu special. I was told that they don’t do this now. I showed her what it said on menu and she said they hadn’t updated their menu yet. I did say all they had to do what put a sticker over that text to amend it for the time being. So I balanced it in the end with paying full price for a half eaten dish and no tip was left. Service was slow, the meals didn’t come out together so everybody had to start before others or their food would go cold. I won’t be going back. There is a better cafe restaurant with better choice next door but it’s not open Monday.

Was in there with my baby who’s just discovered her voice . Needles to say she was a bit loud which is what babies can be . After a number of looks from customer then the manager slamming down a reserve notice where I was sitting . I took this as I had better leave . Wasn’t asked to leave but felt I had too .

Regularly we have the broccoli bakes at La Salle Verte in Dover. The food is delicious and the staff really friendly every time.

We stopped in here for drinks and possibly a snack if we could find anything. Imagine our delight when there was a choice of 3 Gluten Free cakes! And not pre-packaged either - proper, freshly baked cakes. We were in heaven. So many things on the menu had GF options (including sandwiches) that we were thrilled. I only wish we lived locally, so we could make proper use of this cafe. Needless to say, we came back during our stay in Dover. The ambience is good, the staff are very friendly and helpful. There was a lovely looking garden in the back with seating, but we didn’t get to check it out.

My favourite cafe..very atmospheric , clean and great food.Was last there March 2019 just prior to Pandemic announcement .Sincerely hope it manages to survive and is open for business once again as we return to normalcy .

Great little cafe in Dover. Huge portions, and generous use of cheese. Nice selection of sandwiches, paninis, jacket potatoes etc.

We turned up here with 2 dogs and not only did the allow us through into the back patio with them they also brought us out water and biscuits for them,they do soft drinks hot drinks and alcohol, i ordered a rather large piece of cake and asked for 2 forks and they cut the piece in half. The staff a really polite and attentive without hovering, if your ever in dover and have a dog i would recommend you visit

Stopped here last week for a cuppa - friendly staff, easy to find, great clean and tidy cafe. Had a great cuppa of tea.

I normally go here after our weekly Tai Chi in Dover, often with friends who also attend the classes but sometimes alone. Last week (during the Coronavirus but before all eateries were closed down) I went alone and ordered my usual Coffee and Toastie. On the counter was a bottle of hand sanitiser for customers to use. I complimented and thanked the owner and told her that no matter where I tried I could find none in any shop in the region. She said that she had sufficient for her staff but ha also put a bottle on the counter for customers to use (which in itself is extremely generous given the extreme shortage of supply). When my Toastie was delivered to my table the young lady also presented me with a small bottle of hand sanitiser which, she said, was a gift of the owner. In a time of selfishness, greed, panic-buying and dire shortages, this was an amazing random act of kindness and should not go unreported hence this note. Unwilling to take anything in return for the gift I decided to leave a good donation for one of the several charity boxes on her counter by way of “paying it forward”. This is a wonderful Portuguese (Madeiran I believe) family owned business and they offer a wonderful variety of cakes, pastries and other snacks and meals in a warm and friendly family-run atmosphere. I cannot recommend this eatery highly enough!

Met up with 2 friends for coffee and cake at 4pm in December. The staff were helpful, and we all had coffee and cakes to suit each person. We wanted to change to another coffee shop & this was ideal.

Lovely cafe, lovely people, ... but no vegan cake :( ! Disappointing. Baking some cake without animal ingredients (eg. milk, butter) that everyone -- vegans and non-vegans -- can enjoy is VERY EASY, and you're missing out on business if you have no vegan options, so it would be great to see some vegan cake, any vegan cake, on offer next time we visit. Many thanks :) !

This restaurant is always top notch and we have never been served with any drink or food that hasn't been perfect. Love going here with my granddaughter as an after school treat and can't rate this restaurant highly enough!

Have used this cafe time añd time again, very polite staff, actively encouraged by the owner to mix with the customers,very few cafes would do this. Food of a high standard as are the drinks. Very colourfuĺl garden area to the rear with well stocked garden, dog friendly, with a retracting roof for bad weather.

This place is usually very nice to sit and enjoy a snack, or coffee and cake, but unfortunately during the hot weather when you would prefer to sit outside underneath a large canopy that encloses nearly all of the garden, the smokers once again are given free rein to sit out and blow their smoke all over you. A simple solution would be to sit outside the front of the cafe where it is a little breezier, but no, the smokers take precedence in this restaurant. The coffee is great, the cheese scone very nice and the cherry and coconut cake mouth-watering and a plus as it was gluten free. I would love to recommend this cafe, but sadly I couldn't recommend sitting in the garden or the conservatory lean to leading out into the garden area as the smoke drifts into the dining area. It set off my asthma so I had to hurry up, eat and leave. When I complained I got an apology but she said nothing could be done, because the owner likes to sit out there and it was her smoking area!! So, if you are a smoker a fantastic little cafe, but if you are ill with a respiratory illness, seriously don't sit at the back. In the main part of the cafe it is good. Worth a visit, but I was disappointed at the fact that smokers are allowed free rein in the back at the expense of others so on a hot day you are confined to the inside area.

This coffee house is on the Main Street which is part mall and part street.The place has been renovated, being an older building but it’s neat and tidy. Lovely covered and outside areas out the back As well.We had 2 x flat whites in a super large cup. Excellent flavour filled cup and I really enjoyed it.Place was 80% full on a Tuesday morning.Recommend

My granddaughter loves to go into this restaurant as an after school treat! Always very friendly staff and very accommodating to all their customers. Love the friendly relaxed atmosphere and the delicious food and drink.

My partner and I went outside to the patio, where we had a delicious lunch. My partner chose cottage pie, which he said was delicious and I had the macaroni cheese, also delicious. Both came with a crusty slice of seeded bread and a small salad (which was just right because our choices where quite filling) I have tried macaroni cheese in many places but this was really superb, most are too hot to eat at the start and by the time you let the cool the last parts are too cool and congeal unappetising. Not this time though, absolutely delicious to the end. Coffee was good too and service quick. Cannot wait to go again.

I was in Dover for interview today and decided to have lunch at La Salle Verte. The staff were very polite and professional and the toasted Chicken, Pepper & Humus wrap was delicious!

Brilliant, great atmosphere, owners organised live singer, food was abundant and delicious. Catered for vegans and vegetarians with no dramas. Best Christmas party. Such a wonderful evening

This is a nice little restaurant with a lovely waled garden complete with friendly robins. Perfect for a rest from shopping.

I had no idea but my parents and husband had hired the salle verte out for my 30th birthday, the food was amazing, the cocktails were the best, the staff were all extremely welcoming and so lovely, the band they had was absolutely fantastic would highly recommend this place as a cafe, restaurant and Friday and Saturday event nights or a hire place for a party they sometimes have u won't be disappointed ♥

Today whilst in the town of Dover we popped into this local establishment that we have walked past numerous times.

It’s so nice to have an independent coffee shop with an outside space which isn’t in any way tacky. It’s warm, welcoming, homely, smells nice and has great coffee for a great price. Staff are fab! Nice to get a biscuit too! Perfect escape for a bit of free time at work! I want one in Deal too please.

Today my Nan and I visited the green room for our favourite latte and hot chocolate, we started laughing the moment we walked through the door with a lovely lady called Kat. we were all laughing as it was so contagious, all the staff on today were so lovely and welcoming I couldn’t fault them. Thank you for making a once in a while catch up between a crazy nan and granddaughter so delightful! Thank you.

We popped in to this place for a quick coffee and a piece of cake. The fresh teacakes on the counter looked appealing and so we both went for buttered, toasted teacakes.

We had my mum’s 70th birthday celebration here. Regi ensured all diets were catered for. The food was excellent and plentiful...all guests commented on how good the food was. Drinks are extremely reasonably priced. The venue itself is lovely. Regi is able to organise live music should you need it. All in all a fantastic evening. Thanks Regi and staff, everyone had a great night.

Excellent natchos and cajun chicken for lunch, great atmosphere to this lovely cafe. Gluten free cake looked delicious so will have to make another trip soon.

Nice to have coffee or tea there. Both inside and outside area were nice and tidy. Staff was very courteous. The place is dog friendly. Food was OK but not outstanding.

Disappointing tea cake as it had been 'toasted' in some sort of grill which put stripes on it but also squashed it flat so the whole thing was about half a centimetre thick....ie ruined, such a shame. Coffee was good.

Le Salle Vert is run by Reggie and Sandra who are very hard working but very welcoming and helpful. They are community spirited and always helping others. The popularity of the menu on offer is reflected in the number of customers over a lunchtime. They also hold popular evening cabarets which sell out fast.

Comfortable, friendly, personal, affordable, community focussed. A calm pretty environment with great food and a warm friendly atmosphere. Local artwork on the walls, local community projects supported, charming people serving. Brilliant!

Nice little restaurant but rather pricey. We ordered the Nachos with Cajun Chicken. The nachos were nice but the chicken was plain with cajun spicy sprinkled over the sour cream, salsa and guacamole, the dish would have tasted much better if the chicken had been cooked in the cajun spice then cut into pieces to be served on the nachos. Otherwise it is a nice place and I would recommend it to others.

We had pre-booked out menu choices before arrival to assist the restaurant. When we arrived drinks service was swift and professional closely followed by delicious home cooked food. The staff were polite, cheerful and excellent at their job. A thoroughly enjoyable meal was had by the whole group and with only just over an hour till we need to move on we had plenty of time to eat and drink without feeling rushed. Not an easy task for a large group in a relatively small café. I highly recommend this café for groups both big and small.

We were visiting Dover on a long weekend to visit family my sister suggested going in for a coffee on her lunch break she went to get a seat whilst I went to get the coffee one member of staff was taking the orders another was making the drinks and barking orders at the other staff at one point it was quite uncomfortable as in my opinion she was being a bully it turns out she was the owner. The coffee was not bad a bit cool but ok I don't think I will go back on my next visit to Dover

Great music and friendly staff. Large smoking area to the rear, which we didn't discover until too late.

It's a lovely place to just sit and relax over a tea/coffee. On the weekends after 7pm it's turns into a great little cabaret bar with some fantastic entertainment.

I found this place on my way to the railway station and decided to have a coffee before catching a train. It turned out they had a nice menu including good vegetarian options, so I stayed there for a lunch and was not disappointed. The prices are affordable, the staff is very helpful and friendly. The inside of the café is very stylish, no surprises they have a lot of visitors - if I lived in Dover, I would definitely go there for a coffee every day.

A few minutes walk down the road from a heaving Costa is this pleasant, light, large and friendly staff independent coffee shop serving proper coffee, baked goods and with free wifi. better inside than looks outside which is the right way round.

This restaurant is well known and has a very bright, pleasant atmosphere. There is more than one area in which to eat, and each one is quite nice. The food is pretty average, however. Nothing wrong with anything that we selected, but never quite wonderful, either.

We had coffee at this place in the garden. The sandwhiches they served were freshly made and the quality was very nice. It almost French but still British. Very Nice!!

Had both dogs with us so planned to sit out front, but was immediately invited to go through to the walled rear courtyard. Our lunch was lovely and the staff friendly they even bought out treats for the dogs. Will definitely recommend this place and go back again. A very relaxing and friendly place.

Stopped for a quick lunch before visiting the castle. Had bacon and brie toastie and nachos. The bacon seemed microwaved as there was no colour to it at all. Ended up taking it out of the toastie to cut out the fat then it was ok. Nacho portion was huge but not enough cheese, salsa, sourcream etc to go with all the chips. Coffee was good as was the Mocha.

La Salle Verte is a relaxed and comfortable cafe suitable for all. Things to note there's wifi, books and toys for children, multilingual owners, a nice outside area, gluten free choices and a quieter sofa area. The staff are friendly and go the extra mile to make sure you have everything you need. The food tastes fresh and their portions generous.

What a gem of a place! Just dropped in here today for a coffee whilst out shopping and loved it. Service good, atmosphere good and coffee excellent. Will return soon.. Check out the Menu. Good variety at very good prices.

Large nachos with chilli was absolutely excellent. We had originally called for a coffee but ended up having lunch, such a lovely place, staff very friendly, hopefully we will visit again maybe in an evening.

Had a pot of tea for two. Also sells food.. Very pleasant environment. Free wifi. Close to the centre which is where the banks are.. Car parks close and also on street parking.

Went to the green room with my son for a comedy night, and had a thoroughly good evening, some of the acts were pretty good, some not so good lol but the atmosphere made the evening. Good venue good beer good company, wat more do you need.

My favourite destination in Dover when looking for a coffee & a snack. Like the layout & decor. It always seems to be busy which is a good sign. Despite this the service is efficient and friendly. Definitely recommend the place to anyone in need of a break whilst in town.

This place really is a little treasure. Warm friendly welcome on arrival, staff that can't do enough for you & delicious homemade food. The cakes & pastries are to die for!!

Went with several friends for xmas get together, was greeted and made welcome. Food was very good over all three courses, piping hot and plenty of it. drinks very reasonable, nice ambience. All cared for by attentive staff. give it a try. priced very reasonably.

Found this this little hidden gem by accident. I wandered in off the high street and decided on an herbal tea. What a choice. I was truly spoilt with a choice of over 20!! I finally made my choice and was pleasantly surprised at the cost, just £1. The very friendly waitress showed me through the cafe and out through the french doors into a walled garden. I couldn't believe it, so peaceful. You would never have know you were in the middle of the town. I had found a little haven. The staff were very pleasant and the cakes looked delicious. On another day I would have been tempted.

We've been coming to La Salle Verte since we first moved to Dover three years ago. The atmosphere is always welcoming, the coffee is great, the choice of drinks and food generous and the staff very helpful led by the example of Sandra, the boss. It's simply our favourite place to go.

My wife and I came her for a coffee and a milkshake the other day and it was very nice. Staff were very friendly and welcoming, decor was really nice and the outside space was nice to sit in in the sun. I believe there is an art exhibition in the basement so may come back to have a look!

I visited La Salle Verte last week for lunch with my mother. The cafe is quite large and was cool to sit in on a hot day, which was lovely.

La Salle Verte has wonderful coffee, great food, a courtyard garden and also pavement space if you like to be outside. Friendly and prompt service are the icing on the cake for this independently run cafe.

We were viewing a property and had a couple of hours to kill, so we decided to have some lunch as we've visited this cafe before on a few occasions. We've always enjoyed it here and it has a lovely atmosphere. The staff are always friendly and have a smile.

You might find prices mid range here, but the sides for just a toast cheese and tomato sandwich - crisps and a bowl of salad, make the cost worthwhile (see photo) Perhaps the £4 soup and roll advertised outside is also a fair buy. There is a choice of cakes, drinks from the counter of=r the fridge and your order is brought to your table. Nearest the front there at=re tables with rush seats and further back sofas or a garden area. The ambience is French with French posters and murals, also a special menu partly in French for omlets etc. A few hot dishes such as cottage pie are also available. Busy on a very wet day, the Salle verte seems to have a loyal clientele greeted incoming and outgoing by the staff,

The staff was very friendly, courteous and genuinely pleasant. While taking advantage of the free WiFi to get in touch with family back home, we enjoyed tea/coffee and the most delicious lemon muffins ever! We didn't feel rushed to leave and contemplated how much weight we'd gain if there were a LaSalle Verte back home... Highly recommend this quaint little English café.

Had a delicious coffee here. Nice and strong, beautifully made and perfect temperature. I would recommend. They had a lovely selection of cakes (but I didn't have one) that I'd love to have tried.

What a brilliant place this is, relaxing atmosphere, delicious food and reasonable prices. Much much nicer than the Costa in town, and not a huge chain. Definitely the spot to have a coffee with friends in Dover, really enjoyed our visit.

I came here because it had such good reviews. It was lovely, there is a downstairs with sofas etc and outside the back a nice cafe garden. We ordered panini, salad and BLT bloomer, it did take quite a while to come, but all food was good and well priced. Would revisit.

This place is not far from where we live, but has struck us as an oldie couple as a very affirming and welcoming coffee shop, in a matter-of-fact sort of way. The youthful (compared with us) staff are genuine in their enthusiasm in creating a pleasant experience for all visitors. The background music is intelligently and considerately chosen, and the food items have a lovely home made feel. The decor is entirely appropriate: some most attractive untreated brick walls, vintage French theatrical posters (such as for the Moulin Rouge), and a lovely hand-painted mural some 3 metres high by 4 metres wide. A lot of thought has gone into making this place rather special.

A great place to come and enjoy a light lunch and some cake. A fantastic atmosphere and lovely staff and owner. Have visited a few occasions now.

Good choice on the menu, service is fast and efficient and prices reasonable. Visited on two separate occasions and the tuna mayo panini and cheese & bacon croissants were delicious

Probably the best cafe/tearoom in Dover, certainly the best clientele! New owner who has carried on with the good coffee and cakes. Also light lunches are available. Place is clean and newspapers available.
