Food was fantasticico, staff were very cheeky... Good fun, would recommend a visit.

We visited today and had the lunch menu which was fantastic and such good value for money. Not only was the food delicious, and good portion sizes, but the customer service was impeccable. Such an authentic feel to the restaurant and the waitress who served us was amazing, so so lovely. We had a two year old with us, and the children’s menu was incredible the baby left his plates clean! Children get a starter, main and even an ice cream and a drink for just about £10 I think it was, absolute bargain!! We will definitely be visiting again more often as we can’t fault the food, service, atmosphere, or price at all. Thank you for a wonderful meal, as I said we’ll definitely be back again!

We had booked the restaurant couple of days before with a clear note on the comments that we will have a small dog with us, only to get a phone call (after the booking was confirmed twice) 2 hours before our dinner that dogs are not allowed. Extremely disappointed as we were here for a night and had to look at alternatives last minute on Easter weekend.

Amazing food and service! By far the best Italian food that we have eaten. The staff was very friendly and attentive, made us feel like friends.

One guest did not receive their food and the server did not offer and parmesan with pasta. Overall, food was quite good if you got it, but staff poorly managed.

We decided to try the swordfish option from the specials menu, so glad we did. The food was amazing, full of flavour and cooked to perfection. The waiting staff were friendly and attentive, an all round great experience. This is a perfect Italian restaurant, and definitely worth a visit, you won't be disappointed. We are fortunate enough to live in York, so we will definitely be back to try more of their amazing food. Hopefully the specials menu will continue.

We tried new special menu more expensive but worth it. Had the swordfish absolutely recommend if you a fish lover! Awesome restaurant been going years and never had a bad meal. The seabass is also wonderful a must try!

We took our daughter for her birthday, the staff and head waiter went the extra mile to make her night. The food was gorgeous, lovely staff, lovely place, will definitely be going again.

Fantastic meal, very friendly service and very good value too. We chose from the midweek set menu (£25 for three courses) and the food was delicious, as well as the serving staff being really personable and chatty. Great to sit in the window as well and watch the world go by in such a picturesque building, would absolutely recommend!

Ahh the food, the authenticity of it, not easily found in the UK. Amazing authentically Italian food, wonderful vibe and very professional staff.

This has quickly become our favourite restaurant in York. Beautiful building a stones throw from the Minster with a peaceful atmosphere inside, friendly staff , excellent freshly cooked food at very reasonable prices. Really can't think of anything to improve. :-)

What a fantastic night myself and my partner had. It was a last minute booking on new years eve and I'm so glad we chose La Piazza Antica. The food was authentic and very tasty, the service was impeccable and we felt so well looked after and included during the evening. Genuinely impressed and couldn't have asked for a better evening. Highly recommend this beautiful restaurant and its kitchen/staff. Much love and appreciation from the both of us!!

I had the carnosa mista pizza it was excellent, staff are very friendly and the owner really cares about his business and customers. I would highly recommend this restaurant if you're in York.

Wonderful evening with great food and excellent knowledgeable service.

Atmosphere was very quiet, could be because it was on a Sunday evening, no music. Food was satisfactory, carbonara quite dry, olives came with main rather than with the drinks. The ladies toilets was filthy. One toilet without toilet roll, the other desperately needed cleaning as it looked like it hadn't been checked for sometime. When asking for the bill the restaurant owner asked if we were rushing out, to which we said no however he proceeded to make us wait around fifteen minutes to bring it over to us, another couple asked for their bill in this time and received it before we got ours.

You can't go wrong. We've been coming to York for a few years on holiday. This will be our default Italian now. 🇮🇹

My friend & I had lunch here, for the first time Monday, lovely place, good food, great price's & friendly staff, we are already planning to go back!

Restaurangen ligger i ett mycket gammalt hus med bjälkar i taket och blyinfattade fönsterrutor. Italiensk meny. Trevlig servitör. Vi var mycket nöjda med vad vi åt, även veganen i sällskapet. Baren erbjöd goda drinkar med extra twist. Vinlistan var också bra. Dessert orkade vi inte.

We have visited this Restaurant over the years when visiting York and had excellent food and service .It is now under new ownership and it is just as good as it was before. Excellent food excellent service friendly staff.

Wow! What a stunning interior you find when you get indoors and the food matches up too! Delicious meal from the set menu on Sunday evening 😋 gem if a find and I'd say the tastiest meal from 3 over our long weekend stay. 1st port of call if I'm ever back in York. 5* all round guys!

Absolutely fantastic post theatre early evening meal. Cannot remember the last time I enjoyed every part of a meal as much as this. The lamb cutlets were probably the best I’ve ever eaten and the cheeseboard, which comes with a rather nice glass of port, was a delight! We will be back (as soon as possible!)

We received a warm friendly welcome. Fantastic service from beginning to end. The food was amazing, we ordered starters, Burrata Tartufo & Misto fritto. Mains, Lasagne, Lobster Ravioli & Goat cheese pizzas. Deserts, Cheesecake, ice cream & chocolate Brownie. Great friendly atmosphere. We can't recommend enough.

Amazing food great staff I’ll be back

Visited last Tuesday evening with work colleagues and was surprised how busy it was. I'm glad we booked. The service was excellent. The food was AMAZING. Great menu selection. I had the vegan ravioli. I ate every bit and could have had more it was so good. Loved the atmosphere, and the building is just full of charm and character. I'm really looking forward to coming back soon.

Top quality food and service - would come back regularly if I lived closer. They looked after our table of 6 including 2 children very well. Look no further if you want a top quality Italian meal.

A superb evening of delicious food, entertaining and attentive staff, and a wonderful atmosphere. The restaurant offers interior and exterior seating, is decorated very nicely and had a fresh and new feel. There was a wedding party there at the same time and they seemed to be having a great time. The waiters were great to have around and really struck a chord with the guests (us included). Fab evening to celebrate my gf's birthday. And did I say, the food was delicious.

We used to go this restaurant years ago and loved it. And we recently found out it is newly reopened, so we came to check it out. The food was absolutely amazing! The staff were so lovely, very friendly and attentive. It was a shame about the road works right outside, when we arrived the restaurant was completely empty. Not their fault, because the sign outside that says "footpath ahead closed" is misleading because it looks like its completely blocked off but you can still reach the restaurant and a coffee shop next door. So unfortunately for these businesses, they have lost a lot of custom. If you see this review please go and check out this restaurant because it was the best food we have had in a long time. The restaurant is missing out on business and people are missing out on good food. We don't want this restaurant to close down! We will definitely be returning! :)

This 15th century building with its lofty ceiling and exposed beams looks absolutely stunning but more importantly the food is presented temptingly and tastes delicious. Our hosts were friendly and we even had a baritone serenade wishing us a happy anniversary. Lovely building, great food and staff that really are pleased to have you there. Great food in a great atmosphere with reasonably priced menu. We ate lunch and were pleasantly surprised by the portion sizes. Some of the best Italian dishes we have had. Salad was also wonderful. Dishes were all wonderfully plated and we highly recommend the flourless chocolate cake with ice cream for dessert. The server was attentive and engaging. Will definitely be back when we are next in the area.

Great restaurant, nice food, reasonable prices and very friendly staff with great service. We asked for pasta without "paprika" (the Dutch word) in stead of using the English word peppers. When they served the vegetarian pasta it was without paprika (powder!) but full of peppers. Our mistake. Without any discussion we they made a new pasta without peppers. All the food was great and the atmosphere was great. We definitely recommend to go there!

We arrived a touch early for lunch and the staff were more than happy for us to take a seat and the service was great. We ordered a Pizza which had the best pizza base I think I have ever had - light and crispy all the way across. Highly recommended!!

Been here on a number of occasions over the years. First time since it was taken over. We were plesently surprised. Everything had been freshened up ( you can only do so much with a building like that) . New toilets, a bar and no more metal chairs! . Ordered wine, garlic bread and pizzas. Didn't take to long to arrive. Pizza and garlic bread thin and not over loaded with cheese. All staff were very attentive and chatty. Other customers around us were having pasta/meat dishes which all looked good. In the centre of York close to pubs and attractions. Well worth a visit for locals or visitors.

Fantastic Italian Restaurant. The was our first time back since the change of ownership and refurbishment. It's still one of our favourite Italian restaurants in York. We were gutted when Emilio said he was retiring/selling but delighted when we heard it would stay as an Italian. Everything from the service to the food was exceptional and we will definitely be coming back.

Absolutely terrific food and service. From the time you enter, the host makes you feel welcome. The atmosphere was so interesting being that it is a 500-year-old building but with modern finishes. The server was amazing. His customer service skills were impeccable and followed up at the appropriate times to make sure you had enough to drink, everything was good with your food, and to see if you needed anything else. The young man that delivered our food was also very professional and had outstanding customer service skills. The dinner and drink selection of food was outstanding. The food was SUPER delicious and we loved the cocktails. I could not eat all my pizza so they provided us with a takeaway box. I will absolutely come back to La Piazza Antica in the future. I would HIGHLY recommend this restaurant.

We visited this lovely quaint Italian restaurant in York, and were greeted by a lovely gentleman Gianfranco, who sat us in a superb open alfresco courtyard to the rear of the restaurant. The food was super fresh and delicious, and the atmosphere very pleasant. I had a delicious pork loin medallions with crushed potatoes and spinach, in a white wine sauce. My wife had a delicious pan fried sea bass. We chose the 2 course set lunch menu with starter and main course. Great value, and large portions. A lovely meal set in this period style restaurant, coupled with excellent attentive service. Highly recommended.

This restaurant is new since our last visit to York. What an absolute pleasure to find it by chance. The setting is gorgeous especially in the back room. Food was delicious and reasonably priced.
