Very nice building, food was just a microwaved ready meal however. Nuclear hot and tasted burnt and basic. No flavour nor texture. Ordered on our phones so service wasn’t really needed nor attentive. Desert was nice however but was brownie and ice cream so hard to mess up!!

We absolutely adore it here, always a very relaxed atmosphere and friendly attentive staff. The food is always superb, we travel to this location 2-3 times a year simply because of how much we love it. Anna is also fantastic! Her service was perfect. Keep being amazing guys!

Anne was a fantastic server with great knowledge of the menus for my wife who is gluten intolerant, our drinks were kept topped up and the food was amazing. 🤩

The best ask we've been to. The building is stunning, the food is perfect and came ridiculously fast, we were taken to our table immediately. The raspberry lemonade at the table was a nice touch and the warm brownie dessert was beautiful. Best place to eat in York

Building is cool and staff were great. Food is a joke really. Tasted like a Morrisons ready meal but for 18 quid. Avoid if you want actually decent Italian food.

Pulled in by the really nice building. Old bank style hall with big columns. The food was poor at best, akin to a glorified microwave meal. The floors around the tables were dirty with previous diners food. The service was slow and completely lacking any genuine care. All part time kids with little to no interest. At £75+ for a family meal I feel very short changed.

Hotel is really very nicely decorated. Ordered for Sea bass, pizza and garlic bread. Pizza is not as expected but garlic bread and sea bass is excellent, But problem is their heating system, it was very cold, not comfortable at all. Staffs and their service is really very nice.

Whilst it's a chain, it is a great & unique place. I had lasagna which was delicious albeit a bit sloppy compared to some but that was fine. Staff great, especially Caroline - good luck in Scarborough.

We were overcharged at ASK York yesterday. ASK York had an offer on at lunchtime yesterday £9.95 for a classic pasta or classic pizza. I checked with the waitress that we could use this offer. We ordered classic pasta dishes. When I paid this bill I was charged the full price for these dishes. I pointed this out to the waitress who said I would be refunded the extra cost. I went to the till tapped my credit card for the amount of the overpayment. I have not had a refund.

Fantastic staff. I can't speak highly enough of Anna, our server. She was great with our son and very helpful in accommodating our needs. Nice pizzas, good coffee and my pistachio dessert was very satisfying. The carne picante calzone with a drizzle of chilli oil hit the spot! 🌶️

Had a lovely evening meal whilst in York in February. We were warmly welcomed at the door & shown to our seats. Monika our server for the evening was very friendly + helpful. If we visit York again we'd love to return as all staff were so pleasant, the meals hot and well prepared and the building really interesting. It was very relaxing after a day visiting some of the sights of York.

Lovely place and tasty food. Staff friendly and efficient. Unfortunately, as on our last visit a month ago, regular menu items were unavailable. You need to ensure all items on the menu are available - order more in if they aren’t prepared in your kitchen! Disappointing.

Any time I come to York I always come to this ask Italian because even for a chain restaurant it is always a good experience. Absolutely love the food and the decor is incredible. I have no complaints about anything from the food to the service 5/5 stars.

Our server, Lumi, was great, very efficient and friendly. Couldn't have done more to improve our experience. The Grand Assembly Rooms in York are a lovely venue.

This restaurant is set within the most beautiful building. It was busy but guests aren’t crammed in. The food was amazing and fresh tasting. By far the best part of this meal was the service. Anna, our server was fantastic. Her sales skills were amazing, recommending dishes and drinks without being pushy. She was friendly and funny and as her badge says she was amazing.

Food was okay at best. King prawn started was frazzled and dry. Carbonara was tasteless.

We come here often - food is great and decently priced, the building is beautiful and the staff are always lovely. We will be coming back but I felt obliged to leave a review about how poorly staffed the restaurant is pretty much every time we come. We were there last night (Saturday) and there were only a handful of waiting staff when the restaurant was completely full. They’re clearly rushed off their feet and doing their best under high pressures. It’s a shame Ask treat their staff so poorly, it’s a regular occurrence and I doubt it would be that hard to find an appropriate amount of waiting staff. Seems they are trying to make cost savings at the expense of their employees wellbeing.

The service received by Lumi was exceptional! We were a large booking but she made each of us feel welcome! The food was really good and came out all together! El lugar perfecto, en un edificio georgiano muy grande. Llegué un poco temprano y Dan y su equipo era muy acogedor y amable. La comida era perfecta, bien presentada y deliciosa y los tres miembros más jóvenes de mi familia realmente disfrutaron de su comida al igual que los tres adultos. Estaba en una excursión de un día a York, pero sin duda volveré a visitar.

Dined with 4 adults and 3 children. 1 of the party has dairy and soya allergies. All staff were very attentive of that and ensured they were catered for, providing alternative menu and bringing out their food with stickers on the plate so easily identified. Food was lovely and reasonably priced. Took a little while to get someone's attention to pay the bill but we weren't rushed at all which was nice. Children were very happy with their meals and kids eat for £1 over half term was great.

Very average food...think a step down from wetherspoons regarding food quality. Service very quick though but would have rather waited longer for decent food. Won't be returning...

Beautiful building and restaurant area. Really good, friendly service. Was quite disappointed with our pizza though - so stingy with the cheese! Not like the online advert! We ordered 2 margarita pizza's. We paid extra to upgrade to the prime base, which was nice, but let down by the fact that the cheese barely covered the surface (see picture) and the chips were tastey but a very small portion for £4.50. There were alot of families here with young children. I think they have coloring in sheets and crayons etc for kids - so seems to be quite a child friendly location. Overall, food was disappointing and expensive for what it was. Wouldn't return here again.

We read several reviews of this ASK on the train up to York, and were thoroughly amused. This fact isn't particularly relevant, but the reviews encouraged us to visit. The vibes were immaculate, we did go in the wrong entrance, but we had so much fun wandering around before getting seen to a table. The decor was incredible and truly blew our socks off. The food was pretty good too. The staff quick, attentive and friendly.

Emily was brilliant! Such great service, was very attentive and made sure we were happy throughout.

We came for a Valentines dinner and, despite the good food, the experience was ruined by the service. Our food took a painfully long time to arrive, which you can accept to some extent given the night it was, but the real kick in the face was the table next to us (who arrived later than us) being served at the same time yet receiving endless apologies for their wait, their meal completely free, and they were even offered free extra dishes, right in front of our faces. We were completely ignored for the rest of the night too, and had to wait half an hour before we could even get someone's attention to pay our bill. Definitely not an experience you'd expect at any half decent restaurant and I don't think we'll be returning

From the minute we walked in until the moment we left we felt welcome, looked after and special. Our experience here was just wonderful and the food was absolutely delicious. Thank you to everyone, most especially our server Monica.

Breathtaking, spectacular Italian food. The inside of this restaurant is picturesque, looks like it’s straight out of a Hollywood movie. The wait time can sometimes be a bit long, but nothing major. Overall recommend.

If you like buildings and architecture you'll love this place. Built in the classical style and a truly fantastic place to have something to eat. The food wasn't bad either. It's just that the service was a bit slow, and the room was a bit on the chilly side.

Great service and amazing venue!

We ate at the York restaurant prior to attending the theatre. We received a very warm welcome and excellent service from Anna who returned to our table a couple of times during our meal to check that everything was in order. The food was delicious and even though we ate quite early (5.30pm) there were plenty of other people in the restaurant making for a good atmosphere. The complimentary Prosecco on the ASK perk was a nice touch.
