Had a fabulous penne arrabiata here. Service attentive and friendly and lovely seating. My friend has the pizza salad combo and loved it. Really good value and nice wine too. Would recommend

Absolutely fantastic, mouthwatering food. So please we chose here to dine this evening.

I would just like to say we had an absolutely fabulous meal it was the Valentine menu that we tried and me and my husband had a brilliant meal with yourselves, so thank you so much and a very very big shout out too our server Beth who went above and beyond as we happened to mention why we were out, as we had been together for 44 years that day and we'll of been married 40 years in July which she thought was so sweet, speaking of sweet we were just so full after the meal we didn't manage a sweet but that is more of an excuse to come back sometime to dine with you again so once again thank you so much for making our special day a one to remember

We visited wildwood yesterday evening. Our server Shaniah was very attentive throughout the entirety of the meal, and was very friendly and made our experience dinning at wildwood a lovely time, ensuring our glasses were never empty .My wife has a gluten intolerance, and Shaniah was very knowledgeable and offered gluten free alternatives for my wife and my wife was very pleased with the food. Also the Philly cheese steak pizza was very tasty and great value for money. Will we definitely be visiting again!

Great gluten free and vegetarian options. Reasonable prices. NHS Blue light discount and UNiDAYS discount. Friendly staff. Good service. Only improvement would be the toilets need some attention.

Good food but the lunchtime service could have been better. The staff seemed unsure as if they were training, we seen 3 of them and 2 didn’t seem to know what they were doing and kept forgetting things. Would have been better if they were shadowing some people who are experienced. Was also not great that the service charge was automatically on the bill. This should be suggested and if not desired I certainly shouldn’t have to ask for it to be removed. (I know this is common in many places now) Anyway, if you want good food at reasonable-ish prices then for Italian cuisine I would recommend here.

Great food. The allergen free options could be extended further but staff were knowledgeable and careful and chef did a great job of adapting to suit my needs.

The carbonara with chicken portion was for a child, not an adult. There were about 4 small pieces of chicken in the whole portion. The pasta portion was also too small. Taste was OK, but the value for money was terrible due to the size of the portion. The child pepperoni pizza has spicy chorizo on. I was not told why at the time, but he didn't eat half his pizza. The size of the pizza was appropriate for a three year old, not seven, your old. When I asked him at home, he told me his tummy hurt because the pepperoni was spicy. I tried a piece which I brought home and it was extra spicy chorizo. NOT APPROPRIATE for children. Too many drinks were not available. the temperature in the place was too cold. Service was OK but incredibly slow. We arrived at 645pm, ordered soon after arrival, and only got our main meal at 8pm. Again, it was not appropriate, considering it wasn't that busy. Most of the food was luke warm and not served hot. Would not recommend.

Nice looking restaurant. We were welcomed by pleasant staff and were served relatively quickly. We ordered a spaghetti carbonara (gluten-free option) and a philly steak sandwich. Unfortunately, we didn't get the correct drinks we ordered, but I didn't want a fuss, so I accepted it. The main courses came, but the gluten-free spaghetti was cold and looked like a childs sized portion compared to what was served on the table next to us. The philly steak sandwich was very greasy. My hands were covered in grease, and i had to ask for extra napkins. It tasted ok. The waitress was helpful once the cold dish was pointed out. She apologised and offered to get another one or swap it for something different. We decided to swap it for the ribs. They were served warm but were tastless. This was pointed out to the manager, who tried tasting some of it, and afterwards, she agreed with us and apologised. She offered us the choice of something else and a free drink. Unfortunately, at this point, time was against us, so we had to leave. The staff were really nice and helpful, food was average at best. Hopefully, this was just a bad night?

Empty tables were covered in dirty dishes, though they weren't busy . Once shown the table, we were handed menus and just left waiting, and waiting. Music too loud where we were seated. No one came to take the order. We gave up and left. Looking at others experience, I'm glad we did!

The only reason this place even got one star from me was because our server was nice and friendly. We ordered pizza. It was awful. The outer edges were inedible, not just the crust. They were not very tasty either. The only part of our meal that we enjoyed was the garlic bread with mozzarella and caramelised onion. I do not know why this place was so busy. Maybe tourists like us , I wouldn’t imagine it would be returning customers.. An impertinent move on their part was to have the audacity to add, without permission , a 10% service charge. I’ll decide what gratuities I want to leave , not some restaurant. Overall , we left feeling very dissatisfied. Definitely would not recommend and it’s very safe to say we will not be eating there again. My best recommendation would be to keep on walking.

I would like to give this a 5, but the young waiter made a series of errors. My wife, sitting with a walking stick, asked where the disabled toilet is, he replied it's upstairs...or you can go there (just along the downstairs corridor) if it's easier. Well of course it's easier, she's sitting there with a stick and asked for the disabled toilet. Next error was forgetting my wife's order, which only became apparent when the food was brought out to the 6 of us...or 5. However the staff were most apologetic and my wife's meal was free, a nice gesture with it being 15 minutes late. The food was amazing, we all agreed on that. Then the aforementioned waiter brought someone else's meals to us, after we'd eaten, no thank you. Finally there was a serious lack of whisky on offer. I like to finish a meal out with a dram rather than pudding, but no Scotch Whisky or English Whisky, not even the local Yorkshire ones, still enjoyed the Irish one though. So despite the criticism of one member of staff (just needs more training, pleasant enough) and whisky selection, we all thoroughly enjoyed our meal here, and will no doubt return, delicious food and (mostly!) good service, thank you!

Ordered a pizza, had to wait over 1 hour and after all that they handed me a vegan pizza when I ordered a regular pizza. By this time I was starving so I didn't complain and just ate it. Then the bill had a service fee when you don't even ask for it, pressuring you into tipping the desired amount.

Cold steak sandwich small portions overpriced, never asked if it was ok

I like this place but the mrs is less keen. Service was ok if a bit slow but they were busy. Seafood linguine was nice but rather hot as a lot of chilli in. Lasagne was very dry unfortunately. They shouldn’t be adding discretionary charges on in a chain place like this either. There are better places in town to eat. So we are out!

First time we visited this place this evening and it didn't disappoint. We will definitely be back again in the future.

Calamari starters were delicious but the mains not so good. My son's Philly cheese steak was pathetic to be honest. Everyone knows it should be in a baguette but his was a silly toasted sandwich. Sometimes putting your own slant on things is just wrong

As ever…. The service and food was absolutely amazing, after being disappointed with a restaurant round the corner these guys really lifted the day for us! The squid and pizza in Wildwood are by far the best, all fresh cooked to order and the pizza dough is so light crisp tasty you could eat it on its own. If you have not visited, trust me you’re missing out, give it a go you will not be disappointed. To top it all it is really great value for money also!

A varied menu with an excellent choice of pizzas. Gluten free pizza bases and pastas available. Pizza pictured is a vegetable primavera. Stunning flavours with a really tasty selection of Mediterranean vegetables. 10/10.

We went there for my partners birthday dinner and have to say we both loved it. Such a nice place. We had pizza and it was well presented and tasty. Service brilliant especially Dan. Thanks and will be back.

My teenage daughter and I had an incredible meal here while we were visiting York from the US. We had the gluten free garlic bread and then I ordered the vegan lasagna which is the best vegan lasagna I’ve ever had in my life. My daughter had a gluten free pasta. We ate it all. Delicious. The food was fabulous. Server was sweet too. Nice decor and ambience. I would love to come back one day but we are headed home to the States. Delicious and so accommodating for allergies and different food needs. Huge win finding this & the best meal that we had while we were in York.

Came in for late lunch without a booking. Shown straight to table. Excellent service; waiter kept us away from noisier guests. Quick turnaround. Good quality food for the price.

We enjoyed a lovely lunch at the restaurant. We hadn’t made a reservation but were welcomed by the staff. The restaurant was quite busy, but that didn’t impact the service which was excellent. We both enjoyed a cobb salad which was delicious.

We have visted a few times over the years and it use to be our go to for Italian when in york. Unfortunately this time round we were disappointed. The quality seems to have gone, it felt like we had gone to the place next door a chain brand. Taste and presentation was poor. We did complain to the waitress who told the manager and they simply replied sorry about that. Wont be visiting again 😒

On the whole all very good , things to improve on getting people to there table quick , for whatever reason myself and everyone i saw come in during the time i was here had a extended wait at the cold front door to the point i very nearly left , the only other thing i can fault was the pilling dirty plates on the till who knows why that was left there . Week before Xmas lunchtime filled up quickly. Staff were very much equal to the task, we enjoyed the service, and the meal, a great deal. Not a massive variety of vegan options, but they certainly were liberal with the vegan cheese! If I was going again, I'd maybe ask for half the amount of cheese on the garlic bread with mozzarella and caramelised onions. It was delicious, but it was quite the meal unto itself. No complaints here though, I took the rest of my main home and ate it after I sobered (and woke) up!

Excellent food served by friendly staff . My choice for the evening was a chicken and chorizo Calzone, my daughter had the other Calzone version, spinach and cheese. We were both delighted. The starter and dessert were both good too.

Nice food reasonable price good service

My girlfriend had been here before and got the traditional Spaghetti Bolognese, we came to York for a day out and she brought me here to try the same thing. And oh man it was absolutely beautiful one of the best freshly made spaghetti Bologneses I've had ever, portions were just right as well. We also tried the Pesto and Tomato flatbread and even that was lovely as well, service was spot on, place wasn't super busy considering York was rammed with it being the Christmas market. But atmosphere was nice and I enjoyed my visit so much I'll definitely come again, the calzone looked amazing I caught a glimpse as it was going by to a table.

I frequent the Liverpool wildwood and absolutely love it, in York the staff were very slow and didn't seem to be bothered about people waiting for tables the place was empty and we still got turned away due to being no tables🤷🏽‍♀️ they could learn a thing or two from their colleagues in Liverpool who bend over backwards to make sure your visit is perfect!

Excellent restaurant serving a good selection of food and drinks had the philly steak cheese pizza it was amazing there is a good selection of drinks as well the staff were very efficient and friendly can't wait to come back 😃

We dropped in without a reservation and a table quickly became available. We ordered our drinks and food and we were told there may be a twenty-five minute wait as there was a large works Christmas party in the adjacent seating area. The food arrived snd looks well presented but after starting her meal one of my friends noticed her chicken was rather too pink inside. It was obviously undercooked, so we called the waiting staff and it was immediately removed. We expected they would just re-grill it but it was a freshly cooked breast that arrived some minutes later. There were many apologies from the staff and we were not charged for the meal that was compromised. The food was tasty and fresh and I will happily go there again.

Staff seemed to be a little disorganised. Don't think they were totally at fault as there were some pretty inebriated people in our party. Food was very good but took a long time to arrive. I will definitely try to visit again with my wife to get a proper experience of the restaurant.

Nice restaurant and vibe. However there are things that need improving. We ordered as starter 2 portions of mushroom bruschetta. When they arrived, each plate had only 1 slice of bread. We were a group of 5 so when we ordered, we thought each portion probably had 2-3 bruschetta. The other issue was that we waited a long time for the main dishes to arrive.

we came to York for the night and we found this little Italian place and decided to eat here after looking at the menu on the outside. The atmosphere was really nice and the food was lovely! Quick and great service from Georgia as well. She even comped our desserts as we waited a little while for them (we didn’t complain as we know what it’s like sometimes) which was a lovely surprise! Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting York :)

Impatient stuff and subtly racist. When I didn't hear what she said and asked 'sorry?', she smiled and turned away. After we finished, we waited for 30 mins for the bill.(the restaurant is not busy at all). At the end we called them to come take the check. If you're coming to York for a day trip. AVOID IT cause your time is worth spending on more meaningful things instead of waiting ages for the bill.

We have been numerous times for lunch and tea and never had any issues, yesterday we were disappointed to say the least. Myself and my husband came and were seated quickly. We were left for around 5 minutes to look over the menu and the server returned to take our order. 25 minutes pass and we're still sat with an empty table. Numerous tables came in, tables of 2 to upto tables of 6, all good whiles after us, who had already been served drinks and some had their starters. It was a gentleman serving their tables. The young lady who served us just kept walking past, dragging her feet. My husband put his coat on ready to leave when the gentleman who was serving the other tables walked passed and looked at our table and went straight to the bar and returned with our drinks. (Bottle of diet coke & draught beer). Once the drinks arrived, the service improved as we had 3 different people bring food and taking plates away. Food was nice, not the best we've had from there.

We just on a whim decided to eat here. We had to wait for a while to be seated even though nobody else was waiting. Staff walked past us several times without looking at us, but in the end, someone finally came up, and she was very lovely. We all ordered pizza but two of them had all the toppings on one side and the other half had just sauce and cheese. They tased nice but the presentation was not great. Dessert was good except for the tiramisu. It was bland with no amaretto and was covered in loads of milk chocolate powder. It was like a children's version which was very disappointing for almost £7.

I had heard and read so many positive comments about this restaurant but on the night I was disappointed. Service was slow and server kept changing. my rib eye steak wasn't great very chewy and fatty and we kept on having to flag down waitresses for more drinks etc. I also don't like automatic 10% service charge although this was removed on request but the Manager clearly wasn't happy I did so but Didn't ASK WHY!

Liked the look of this place and duly went in for evening meal- initial impressions good, took advantage of 2 4 1 cocktails and everything was looking good! Straight into mains- Lasagne, Penne arribiata, and a garlic bread - simple! But can arribiata be made with spaghetti and some cheese on garlic bread! Easy peasy! Lasagne came out a bit anemic probably could of done with another 5-10 mins to give some colour and life , spaghetti arribiata came out as penne arribiata and cold. Garlic bread ok. Never have i sent anything back before but on this occasion i did and it came back microwaved! The jug of water that was asked for came with no glasses, the people opposite had no knives and forks, and the middle of the lasagne was also cold it was all turning sour! We decided enough was enough and skipped desert and asked for the bill which had a 10% service charge added All in all we probably caught them on a bad night, but even upon leaving the two waitress’s who watched us leave couldnt even wish us a goodnight, Wont be returning!

Went for our lunch in group of two and the place was so buzzing. We just walked in without prior reservation and were seated very quickly. Ordered a vegetarian penne ala Norma pasta that was served with loads of salad and cheese. And I really loved the taste. The portions were great for one person and it was very filling too :) I would love to see a wider vegetarian or vegan menu options.

Great night 4 meals bought. Pizzas & pasta dishes. All our party enjoyed what they had ordered. Deserts & cocktails bought & enjoyed. Staff friendly , service quick although at the time we went in not busy. Will be back.
