Wildwood Kitchen in York

Habíamos visitado Wildwood antes, así que fue una opción fácil para ir de nuevo. El restaurante estaba limpio y la bienvenida amable, ya que nos llevaron a una mesa a la llegada. Elegimos entrantes y bebidas que se trajeron rápidamente, el pan de ajo y cebolla caramelizada estaba sabroso y en una cantidad decente, el Calamari estaba bien cocinado y sabroso. Nos mudamos a la red, Pasta arabiatta - porción bien cocinada y decente llegó rápidamente y estaba muy bien condimentado. Mi hamburguesa estaba de nuevo sabrosa y muy bien cocinada. Decidimos tomar un par de postres de toffee pegajosos - para un postre tan simple, estaban muy bien preparados - de nuevo no puedo culpar al servicio o al gusto. Toda la comida fue agradable, y tengo que decir que el personal nos hizo sentir muy bienvenidos - una buena experiencia.

Good food, but hated the fact they added service charge to bill. Would have left a tip of our descretion anyway. How dare they add 10%. Asked for the £30 to be removed and gave them nothing as we wouldn't give out of principal.

La comida era absolutamente deliciosa, especialmente la costilla - filete de ojo - cocinado a la perfección. El servicio fue inmediato, con un personal amable que nos registró y traer la factura en el momento justo. El ambiente era muy acogedor, haciendo que nuestro tiempo aquí sea aún más agradable. ¡No puedo esperar a volver y con suerte ver algunos platos clásicos como el pollo peri - peri o el helado de chocolate en el menú!

A lovely relaxed place to eat, everybody's food was delicious and I would highly recommend eating here to get away from the hustle and bustle for a bit. Ed who served us was friendly, professional and went above and beyond.

I know I am guaranteed an amazing meal, with good food, great atmosphere and fabulous service every time we dine here! we make a point of eating here each time we visit York.

A complete disappointment. The tuna was extremely watery with a bland taste, likely due to quick defrosting. The arrabbiata was just as bad, containing barely any chicken. Poor quality overall.

I popped in recently and had an absolutely brilliant meal! The Tartiflette was incredibly tasty—such a great twist on the traditional—and the Philly Cheesesteak was loaded with flavour and had a lovely presentation. The service was spot on, with the staff being friendly and attentive throughout my visit. Plus, the atmosphere was just right for a chill evening out. I really can’t wait to visit again!

Think it's gone a little downhill, food was nice enough haven't been in a while and there's better value places with better quality around

As a family we had our yearly trip to York and book into the Wildwood restaurant and it definitely did not dissapoint there was 11 of us with children so we all had different choices the food was beautiful very well cooked and tasted amazing. Excellent choices of beers and wine The staff did a excellent job and were a credit to the restaurant I would definitely recommend to anyone who visit York 😀

Best food place in York in my opinion, always have great banter with all the staff whenever we visit and the food is out of this world aswell as the service

Estuvimos en York un par de noches para disfrutar del Mercado de Navidad y vinimos aquí para cenar. Saludo a la puerta rápidamente y se muestra a una mesa. Atención rápida para pedir bebidas mientras leemos el menú. Una vez pedido el servicio de comida fue rápido y la comida estaba muy caliente. La comida era excelente y se puede recomendar la pasta de pollo y setas y la tarta de limón con helado. Me gustaría dar un saludo a Ed que era muy acogedor y atento.

Love their gluten-free pizzas. Taste and texture just like flour crust pizzas.

We always visit Wildwood when we come to York.My sister and I celebrated our birthday on Wednesday 27th November .Thank you to Philippa for the complementary bottle of Rose wine,such a lovely gesture.Also great to see Georgia back after having her daughter Rosie.Excellent Service on Both our visits.We will be back next year.

Lovely place. Food was mediocre and nothing special but a lovely place for a general meal with your family.

Enjoyed a lovely meal at Wildwood. I opted for the mozzarella and caramelised onion garlic bread starter and then the Christmas special of Turkey and all the trimmings. The dauphinoise potatoes were delectable and the meal was overall fantastic! Washed down with some strawberry lemonade. Really enjoyed all the different flavours. The restaurant is beautifully laid out. The only let down is the draft that brings through the cold air everytime someone enters the restaurant.

Lovely food, staff, service and atmosphere

I recently dropped in for a meal and I was seriously impressed! The food was top-notch, especially the Traditional Bolognese and Margherita pizza – both bursting with flavour and beautifully presented. The service was spot on too; the staff greeted me warmly and made sure I was enjoying everything. The atmosphere was just perfect for a chilled dining experience. Can’t wait to come back again soon!

visited during the week and we ordered pasta & steak. steak badly overdone and pasta was cold. when we raised the issue with staff we received a very poor response and the manager appeared to find it all very amusing (didn't come over to speak to us, just sent waiting staff across.) overpriced and all in all a very poor experience and won't be back. used be a much better quality of food and service. take it from me there are much options for food in York

A really nice restaurant that caters for people with Coeliac or gluten intolerance. Food is delicious!

Visitado un viernes por la noche y fue recibido por un amable servidor que nos consiguió una mesa inmediatamente. El servicio fue rápido y la comida llegó rápidamente. Todo estaba fresco y caliente con el risotto de mariscos que se recomienda.

I was enticed in with a huge electric display advertising today only specials, I'd also checked online there was supposed to be lunchtime specials. I asked for a quiet table but they were only using half the restaurant so you can imagine it was busy so no quiet table, I asked about the specials I got given just a menu with new dishes, I'd been here before so I was expecting the same kind of service and set up, I ordered just a basic pasta dish, it was flavoursome and hot, good portion, I ordered a dessert which was nice, then came the bill, full price and service charge. I explained about the advertising in the window and online, no it's full price menu today is all I got in reply, so I asked why advertise it then That's surely false advertising to entice people in to spend money, I did end up paying the full price which left a bitter taste in my mouth if I'm totally honest. The food was ok but way overpriced for a lunchtime meal, IV been here before and really enjoyed the experience and food but this was an evening and the day I went was a lunchtime and the difference was obvious. The staff were attentive The dining space and tables nice, kept clean even though we were all kept bunched up in one area, so IV kept my rating fair but if I ever chose to visit again I definitely wouldn't choose a lunchtime and I'd debate on a evening as well when there is so much competition and chose nearby.

A great evening and lovely food. Service was great and friendly. The restaurant was quiet that evening, but we were well looked after.

10/10. Nice atmosphere, nice food and nice staff. Served by a girl with a septum piercing and excellent eyeliner. Will be back soon!

Visited York for three days and by chance went in Wildwoods for a meal.. so glad we did it was delicious so went again the next evening ..waiters are very helpful and efficient will definitely visit again next time we are in York and recommend the restaurant to friends. Thank you .x

So quickly service, nice people , good food an not so expensive , good

Vegan burger was served with burnt oven fries. Replaced with a pathetic salad after complaint. A few lettuce leaves, two olives and a few slices of onion. It included the hard central core of the lettuce , normally thrown away. Absolutely no effort.

All I can say is this was a special experience with the perfect service and the most wonderful food. Amazing

Lovely decor inside, service was good. Food was tasty and did the job, but I didn't feel it was home made more batch made. Would go back if needed somewhere quick and easy.

The staff were excellent, especially Bethany: friendly and attentive, but not intrusive - knowledgeable regarding allergies too. The gluten free pizza was good but not any better than any other chain restaurant (annoying to pay extra for a GF base too!). The restaurant has a lovely atmosphere and great music. I would definitely return.

It was decent, but the steak was very chewy. Overall, the family enjoyed the visit.

Fantastic meal, lovely staff and reasonably priced. The ladies serving were so friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Definitely recommend.

Really nice food esp the sweet potato fries omg they're delicious the lasagne is really good, my partner had the folded pizza the 1st time, service was pretty fast as it was just starting to get busy, the atmosphere was nice & calming great for couples on a romantic date or just as a break for the adults, there was families there & it was quite nice would highly recommend this was our 2nd time in there & will be returning in Nov when we return to york again 😀

Ordered food via Uber Eats to eat in hotel room (York Wildwood). No cutlery provided which made eating the mixed salad very messy. Ordered elderflower sparkle and received Appletiser. Only good thing was delivery. Unfortunately no way to contact Uber Eats to flag the issues.

One of the best spaghetti bolognese i have ever tried

We ordered takeaway from Wildwood yesterday and I was excited to order the new tuna niçoise salad. What arrived was not as pictured: no egg and very paltry portions of vegetables. The potatoes were undercooked and one slice had a rotten eye still in the skin. The tuna was good but it wasn't cooked medium as advertised, so felt tough around the ages. I've normally had good experiences with Wildwood so this was a real disappointment especially given such a high price.

Found this restaurant on a wet drizzly day. Me u looked good so decided to give it a go. Prompt service, lovely food. We both went for the chicken salad, lovely fresh ingredients, the nachos were a lovely addition. We also went for the rosemary garlic bread which went really well with the salads.

Very poor service. Was seated promptly but then never returned to take drinks order. Other customers came in and he order taken in front of us. We ended up leaving.

We were so pleased we were seated as we hadn't booked and it was already busy. Friendly service and a welcoming atmosphere. Great music on in the background, that was just the right volume to hear and still chat. Great variety on the menu and great that smaller portions are offered too. The food was tasty and well presented. Thank you! We want to visit again for sure!

Visited Wildwood Restaurant today Sunday 7th July Lunchtime. Always confusing with their promotions. Today I was given the Lunch Time Menu. I Ordered a 3 Course Meal which should have been £16.95. However... when I wanted to pay I was told the Lunch Menu is only Mon - Friday. Why was I given the Lunch Menu.on a Sunday. Lets Think. 1. Maybe there had been a change in the Earth's Rotation Speed.... and now it was still Mon - Friday. 2. Maybe I had missed a Point in the Labour Manifesto and to increase GDP... Saturdays and Sundays have been cancelled. 3. In order to save the Forests Menus would be limited.. and you have to guess whether the one your given is Correct. 4. Or Maybe it's me....just a Stupid Oldie who didn't check that the Menu given was actually applicable...BTW what day is it... Anyway to say I am not happy about paying the full Menu Price of over £36..would be an understatement. If you have read this to the End. You have more time on your hands than me... HOWEVER KEEP OUT OF RipOffWood.... Their Motto must be.... "Say after me".. Open your wallet and help yourself... Cheers Pilgrim

I was disgusted as my daughter found a hair in her pizza which was unacceptable as I don't expect to go to a restaurant and find a hair in the food .

Really wish I could give it a 3.5 , unlike some of the recent reviews we found the service and food fine /good , the staff were friendly and food was decent but nothing outstanding . Would I rush back with the amount of places to eat in York mostly likely not but only because of the amount of choice but it didn’t disappoint.

Lovely restaurant with a very relaxed atmosphere. Lots to choose from on the menu. Food was very tasty. Service was perfect.

Avoid at all costs, this a restaurant run by un-experienced students, when you order a chicken salad you do not expect 4 pieces of withered lettuce, 1 yes 1 anchovy and what we believed to be a vey flat piece of chicken and all for the rip of price of £14.25 tbf I’d have gotten better at subway! When we were asked if our meals were ok I explained that I was surprised that the chef thought that acceptable to be sent out I know this is not 5 star restaurant but have some pride in calling yourself a chef. When it came to paying they knocked 20% off the salad laughable and one word JOKE. Anyway avoid and take yourself up the road to pizza express where you can guarantee a good sizeable meal.

It was good but I didn’t get to post my picture of my monster on instagram and maybe win the challenge for the new monster icon for their kids menu but I got to hang it up on a wall on the side of the wall in the restaurant and thief vanilla ice cream was good.

We’ve visited York many times and have just left this place. We ordered a hot chocolate which was just warm milk - all the chocolate was congealed at the bottom. We also ordered a bottle of wine which we had to open and serve ourselves, not the service you’d expect in an Italian restaurant paying over the top prices for a wine that tasted like it was a £3.99 bottle from Aldi. Food arrived, we had to request a bigger table because of the size of the garlic bread plate, the waiter had tried to place my meal against the wall at a 45 degree angle! The table was far too small for the plates and glasses. We had to practically move everything over to the new table ourselves, not much help from the waiter. Garlic bread was very undercooked, we had to send it back and ask to be cooked more. Seafood linguine came with chilli pieces that were far too big for a person to eat, muscles that were either empty or closed and only a couple of small prawns added to it with three pieces of squid. Told the waiter when asked if it was okay that it wasn’t and he said he would let the manager know. A lady we assumed it was a manager returned with our garlic bread now cooked and told us she would let the chef know, however no replacements to the missing or closed muscles appeared or any alterations to the poorly delivered dishes either. At the end of the meal the manager came over to us with the bill and told us she had applied a discount which turned out to be just taking off the service charge that they automatically add to every meal. Another waitress came to take our money and I told her I wasn’t happy about this as a discount of £7 for a £63 meal that wasn’t up to standard and service that was far from adequate was literally taking the proverbial. The waitress then said she would have another word with the manager who then sent her back over to tell us they had taken off £20 from the bill. A much better discount and what was expected. When I questioned where the manager was and could she not be bothered to talk to us herself we were met with no comment. The restaurant was empty aside from ourselves and one other table and the manager was just sat on her backside pretty much the whole time. As a business owner myself I would have made the effort to personally deal with the complaints and correct them immediately instead of sending over the poor staff several times and I also would have replaced dishes or sorted out the discount correctly first time without having the costumer need to mention it at least twice, it was embarrassing for us and your staff. Shocking behaviour from her leaving her poor waiters and staff to deal with any complaints instead of dealing with them herself, no wonder the place was empty. Everywhere is struggling to gain business and this kind of service and sloppy food delivery has certainly made me think twice about spending my hard earned money in a place that doesn’t care about what it delivers or how to make the customers feel. Do yourselves a favour, there are over 600 places to eat in York, do not make this one of them and save your money and go elsewhere! We certainly will!

Quite pricey for pizza but very nice

As a business owner it is with regret that I have to leave a one star review, but I feel compelled to as lessons need to be learned. Having walked just under a mile and a half in the rain we arrived at the Wildwood at 3.50pm. We were greeted by a female member of staff who said "We are not seating anyone until 4.00pm" That's okay we'll have a drink at the bar I said, we don't have a bar, she said. Okay fair enough despite scores of empty seats that we could have sat and waited we had to leave. I can honestly say we will never darken your doorway again.

Fabulous evening in York to finish our trip and the food and service was great.

Fantastic place and amazing for us as a family as they do the BEST gluten free pizzas ever! Service on the food was quick, so quick it arrived well before our drinks. Staff were great and knocked the drinks off the bill as an apology so can't complain with that!

When we went in, I was served straight away. My husband and son said their food was good but my daughter and I had a pizza that tasted like cardboard. My daughter's pizza had black hair on it. When I said to the waiteress about she just said sorry.

Time got changed after placed order 10 minutes before order was supposed to arrive food got here and was cold in hospital aswell so there is no way can even warm food up

We didn't book a table and turned up about quarter to 9 and they very kindly accommodated our party of 4....staff were lovely even spoke to the chef...the food was very good too...would visit again on our return to York

The food was amazing! Everything we ordered was so tasty and great portions. All the staff were attentive and friendly. I couldn't fault anything. I think I have a new favourite restaurant :)

The food is delicious with more than ample portions. The Ammerero Sour was delicious. Lucy and Beth were amazing and treated us like royalty on our wedding anniversary. Thank you so much!

I like the place cause you can get a seat and food quite quick, I normally like the taste, however I don’t know why the bill come to 27 pounds when I order a lasagna for 15 and a drink at 8 🧐 Do they charge the water? Not sure. Do they charge automatic service charge when service didn’t really deserve it? Not sure

Food was absolutely fantastic and service was great! My partner is coeliac so we are limited to where we can eat together. Server was very nice and checked that all food was totally gluten free and informed us that she had told the kitchen. Both of us had the prawns to start which were very tasty and a very good portion size! My partner had a gluten free pizza to which she said is the best she has ever had! I had the minute steak which was again very tasty and a good portion size. The server was extremely polite, attentive and in my opinion very good at her job! We will definitely be returning next time we are in York and I will definitely recommend this place to friends and family that visit often. Thank you

Walked in for lunch whilst visiting York. Good menu which covered a family of 4 and various food preferences. Nice interior, staff were friendly.

They forgot about us (they said it was a glitch error in their computer). We waited 45 minutes to get drinks and then food. They did comp us for the initial drinks which was a fair gesture. However, they forgot about us for a half hour to give us the bill. Experience lasted 2 hours 15 minutes. The server was nice about it, but I had to track her down to get the bill so we could leave.

The place itself is lovely, but the the food is very average and bland for the price you pay.

Had a fabulous penne arrabiata here. Service attentive and friendly and lovely seating. My friend has the pizza salad combo and loved it. Really good value and nice wine too. Would recommend

Great service , very polite staff . Pizza was delish had 18 inch stretch instead of round which different but very tasty . Would definitely go again .👍

Delicious food, everything was freshly made. Even my mum-in-law really loved the food although she usually doesn't eat in restaurants 🙂 I had Cobb salad, I was surprised I got a grilled corn in it not from the tin 😁 Strongly recommend

Lovely meal, staff were super helpful and we’ve managed 3 courses whilst the children were settled. Nothing was too much trouble. Food was fantastic.

If I could give a lower rating I would. Not usually let down by food in York, but this made an exception. Food was luke-warm when it came out. The penne pasta went cold within 5 minutes of touching it. We asked for the caramelized onions to be taken off their £8 garlic bread. They disregarded the request. Once we had grudgingly complained, the waitress was apologetic and would say they would inform the manager on duty. The manager didn’t have the decency to acknowledge or apologize for our poor experience and we were left with paying £40 for two cold pasta dishes and a stone-cold garlic bread. Save your money and time and go elsewhere!

I would just like to say we had an absolutely fabulous meal it was the Valentine menu that we tried and me and my husband had a brilliant meal with yourselves, so thank you so much and a very very big shout out too our server Beth who went above and beyond as we happened to mention why we were out, as we had been together for 44 years that day and we'll of been married 40 years in July which she thought was so sweet, speaking of sweet we were just so full after the meal we didn't manage a sweet but that is more of an excuse to come back sometime to dine with you again so once again thank you so much for making our special day a one to remember
