Bella Italia York in York

Came to Bella Italia for the first time and was pleasantly surprised. The service from Reece was 100% attentive making sure everything was ok with both us and our baby and he was a natural at customer service. The food was lovely and full of flavour having had the lasagne and spaghetti bolognese. Now we've been we will definitely be back.

Pizzas were tepid at best and hadn't been cut properly. Not the cheapeat pizzas so expected a lot better.

Dined here on the 21st November and ordered a vegan spaghetti and meatballs. Long story short there was a piece of bacon/pork in my vegan main. The staff were unapologetic and made excuses such as “these things happen”, no manager came to apologise or offer any compensation. Very disappointed.

Visited last night the food was lovely, our waiter seban was fantastic, extremely helpful and lovely to have a chat with.

Food was very standard. Pasta under cooked. Ham in carbonara very fatty, meat balls lacking meatiness and flavour. Not authentic Italian Service was excellent and can’t fault that, a shame the food doesn’t match.

The food was delicious and served promptly, which was a positive experience. However, the service was disappointing. The staff seemed disinterested and were consistently rude, even ignoring customers who were speaking directly to them. This lack of attention and politeness really detracted from what could have been an enjoyable visit. I hope the restaurant addresses the issue with staff training, as the food quality was great, but the service needs significant improvement.

My boy’s loved their food as much as we loved our’s .My brownie was brilliant and my husband loved his food aswell. The staff was lovely and kind and for those reasons I declair a 5 ⭐ review.

We had a wonderful family dinner in Bella York, we ordered lasagna pasta and kids meals ,all of them been delicious. The staff was friendly and attentive and the food was served quickly. They also took the time to ask about allergies which we really appreciated. Everything arrived hot and tasty. We enjoy our meals and time together . Saban fantastic waiter ,he checked in to make sure we were happy with everything and even give us a great recommendation. We had a lovely experience and will definitely be back

Ash was a lovely server. Clearly is passionate about his job and providing good service. A lot of potential customers were being turned away but I'm sure they were on skeleton staff due to after Christmas. Couldn't fault ash he was lovely The beef and red wine tortellini was amazing

Amazing service from a staff member,sorry don't know the name of the girl who served as this afternoon. My wife has a egg allergy but she was patient in taking her order and when the food came out it was nice it was beautiful and all the stuff were lovely and it was a great atmosphere I would recommend to go and down here if you're ever visiting York

Amazing from start to finish. Veggie calzone was delicious, along with a aperol spritz and Expresso martini made to perfection. Our waiter Sahan was 10/10, very attentive, really made my daughter feel welcome and had her laughing through out the whole meal. Working in the hospitality industry myself I know a good waiter when I see one. We will be back!!!!!!

Staff really nice & pleasant. This was our first visit and will definitely be returning. Food was lovely and plenty of it. We weren't rushed all. It was a really nice relaxed dinner with very very good staff!

Sadly, we were disappointed with this restaurant. It looked nice from the outside and was decorated nicely inside. The menu read well. Unfortunately, we had to wait a long time for our food, perhaps they were short-staffed. We did think it might be because the kitchen is trying to cater for the restaurant customers and juggle doing food for Just Eat orders. Delivery people came in and out of the restaurant quite a lot. The garlic bread was dry and there wasn't a lot in a portion. Don't order the Christmas vegetarian carbonara. It was pasta with a watery sauce, 7 cooked frozen brussells, a few mushrooms and red peppers. The house wine was acidic. Having said that, people seemed to be enjoying their food and we didn't hear any complaints so maybe we were just unlucky that night. We won't return to the restaurant.

Saban and Jake provided really good service. Nice to speak with both of them. Lunch was amazing. I will come here next time definitely again.

Food was nice except for the fact that the sauce that was supposed to be with the mozzarella sticks wasn't provided and the the fries were basic skinny french fries compared to the thicker skin-on fries that were advertised.

My visit to York Bella Italia has to be the worst experience I have ever had. I've visited a number of these restaurants and they have always met the mark. However, on this occasion, the staff were far from attentive, not friendly or welcoming. As for the food, the starters were cold but edible, and as for the Carbonara, the order was wrong, and we had to wait for a replacement. When it arrived, it was swimming in a pool or what I could only imagine was butter or water. Both mine and my partners carbonara were bland despite adding seasoning.No one checked how our meal was. The restaurant was quiet with not much of an atmosphere, and staff were standing around chatting instead of checking on diners. I wouldn't recommend this Bella Italian as it falls way below the standard of the franchise.

The staff were very friendly and accommodating and the service was very prompt and efficient, especially Saban. We were visiting York and he made the evening extra special with his attentiveness. The food was nice but nothing special.

Had the usual. Vegan spaghetti and meatballs. Amazing. Nduja pizza is beautiful. Staff super friendly and helpful.

The waiter is attentive to all the details... We always look for the best quality at the best price and this is the place to relax and enjoy the food. The garlic and cheese bread is spectacular.

Ok food but terrible service. We went on a Saturday evening at 6pm and they didn't have enough people serving. We waited at least 30 minutes after our main meal and had to ask to order dessert and then again to pay. The food was ok. Nothing special, there are much nicer Italian restaurants in York. Do not order the camembert starters! It was more than £13 and the "whole camembert" that we were going to share was clearly the top half of a camembert only and not enough to share, and very expensive for what it was! I wish I'd taken a photo! Overall not recommended, go elsewhere for better food and good service.

Visited with my friends on 18/11/24 really enjoyed the food and the service from Matteo was fantastic, nothing was a bother. I teach customer service and Matteo is an asset to your company you should be very pleased to have a person like him working for your company. Great lunch we will be returning.

We came this week in a group of 9 for an engagement party. Booking it was really easy and the team were great at handling allergies. Saban was our waiter - he was absolutely lovely and very funny, recognised a few of us from coming before, and he was really kind offering to take photos when he found out it was for a special event. He helped us pick good wine/champagne for the night and we had an absolutely fab time, will definitely be coming back. Thank you!! P.S.: Special recs go to the gamberoni and the beef pizza which were especially popular in our group, the desserts were also fantastic!

A nice restaurant, located in York, at no. 89 on Low Petergate. The service was good, but the food mediocre.

Absolutely beautiful pizza while pricy is more than worth it. While I've only ordered twice both times they've proven the care and beauty they have for their craft and brings true Italian pizza straight to York. While many would question how underwhelming the look is when comparing to British fast-food you will become a true appreciate what a true pizza was always meant to be. Please keep shining the beauty that is Italian cuisine in our little part of the world.

Best food and menu I have experienced in very many years here and abroad. Very poor service ,wrong meal delivered to one of the party, one person waiting because they had missed the order either in the kitchen or the waiter giving it to the kitchen. Waiting ages for the meal. Unable to supply another bottle of the wine ordered, unable to supply sweet ordered. No discount for the shambles offered. This was our preferred restaurant,now none of our party will go.

We dined at the Bella Italia restaurant in York city centre and were extremely impressed by the quality of our food and even more so by the attentiveness of our server. Our meal was lovely and sized just right. Would definitely recommend it!

Matteo provided an exceptional service during our visit. He was attentive friendly and professional and he made great menu recommendations and ensured all our needs were covered. For example because of our faith we don't eat non halal meat or pork at all - he ensured we knew of the food we were ordering and helped us make adjustments as necessary. Really pleasant, friendly staff. Great food and good choice of wines and beer. Not too expensive either. Service was really good and certainly worth a visit.

We had a table booked here for last night for our anniversary at 7:30. We turned up and there was a note on the door saying they were closed due to unforeseen circumstances. I completely understand these things happen, but a phone call would have been polite to let us know they were closed. Many other people were also in the same position and looked like they hadn’t been given any notice either. We ended up eating next door at Wildwood instead which was great. Disappointed with the customer service from Bella Italia.

I don’t often leave reviews however great service needs recognising. Myself, wife and children went for meal and received some of the best service we have ever been given (and we eat out a lot) The gentleman who served us was made for customer service and is a credit to the business. I would have offered this gentleman a job hands down and hospitality needs more service like that. Was so attentive to my kids and we all know the way to an adults heart is through their kids. Came in for a couples dinner to start our York trip and was treated by warm service and high quality food will always return!

The two of us went to have dinner, and the waiter was very enthusiastic, although we only ordered two dishes, let alone drinks. When my appetizer arrived, the waiter carefully reminded me that the iron plate was hot and asked me to be careful. The food was served quickly and normally. When both dishes were served, we were asked if we wanted to add cheese. During the meal, we were asked how satisfied we were with the dishes. The appetizers and pizza we ordered were very delicious. The two dishes have distinct styles, one is light and rich, the other is passionate and unrestrained, each with its own characteristics.

I’ve been unwell recently and had lost my appetite. This was just what I needed my meal was like a warm hug and absolutely delicious. Highly recommend.

Never experienced first hand-racism in the UK until today. Waiter dismissed us and pretended we weren’t there from the moment we entered so we left within 5m and he didn’t seem to care or notice. Upon entering he was pulling a face like 😒 instead of responding to us saying hi. Instead of showing us our table he pointed us into a hidden corner and pulled SUCH a weird face that I was shook. When I say hidden, this table felt kinda weird to be sat on given by his reaction so far. He was nice and laughing to everyone around us and yet despite us being polite he was grunting and treating us like giving a menu was SUCH a burden to him. My grandma who doesn’t speak English even recognised his hostility. Worst experience ever :) I’m too young to be experiencing this from someone who could be twice my age. I went to Wildwood next door and found out it wasn’t the whole of York who are like this, as I was only visiting.

We ate spaghetti, and it was delicious!!! 100% recommended!!

Upon arriving at the restaurant we were warmly welcomed by the young chap then we were shown to our table. What a lovely young guy, he was so attentive to everyone and their children in the restaurant. He’s exactly who you want welcoming folk. Our waitress was also lovely, friendly and enthusiastic. The food we had was really nice, my pasta had lots of prawns in it and had a nice taste to it. My partner had pasta too with meatballs, he really enjoyed his meal. It was served hot and we didn’t wait long at all. Our visit was fab and we’d definitely visit again.

Nice Italian although missing a few items you may expect to see on the menu. Staff were very nice but as the restaurant started to fill up you could tell they became busy and the service dropped a little. We didn't even get offered any parmesan cheese yet every other table were offered. Only a little negative but still worth a visit

Myself and my Granny went down to Bella Italia and were amazed by how friendly and welcoming all of the staff were to everyone. They were all chatty, jolly and full of fun, which made our meal out and incredible experience. We would both highly recommend going here as it is a night out you will never forget!

All staff acknowledged our party and were really helpful as I tried to keep my almost 2 year old entertained. Chatting to us and interacting with him really made us feel welcome and it wasn't a problem when I took him to walk round the restaurant to stretch his legs. He even got a wave from the chefs in the kitchen. Great team! Food was delicious and my allergies and vegan diet were well catered for. My toddler ate like a king for £1 with the kids eat free offer.
