All i can say is everything was fantastic

Lovely place for a special occasion,

A bit pricey but totally worth it.

I’ve been here many times before; usually the food is wonderful! However this time, the food was sub-par. The bolognese was freezing cold, I sent it back, and the waitress was so helpful, and they “made a new one…” the dish they gave me back was equally as cold. My friends dish (the chefs steak special) was rubbery and also quite cold. This is usually a lovely restaurant, but perhaps the business took a bit of a toll on them this evening. Drinks and service were lovely as always!

Lovely traditional family run Italian restaurant. Proper dining.

Superb steak. Loved the zabaione. But would have loved it even more with more fresh berries.

La Lanterna is a lovely little restaurant in one of the roughest streets on Glasgow. Don't let that put you off, however! It is an absolute gem of a restaurant, the food is exceptional and the service is second to none. We ordered the pre-theatre and they did not let us down portion-wise. The lighting could be a little dimmer to create a better ambiance but that's neither here nor there. Up there with the best.

This is a marvellous Italian restaurant in the basement of the building. It gets very busy as the day goes on but we managed to eat early and avoid the rush. Pretty authentic Italian fare with pleasant, if not always the quickest, service. Price is not cheap but it is competitive. We would not hesitate to recommend it to any visitor to Glasgow.

Another fabulous meal out with my family today. Food was super as usual. Service top notch. And of course the cocktails are divine.

A really good Italian restaurant in Glasgow centre. The entrance and door buzzer access doesn't fill you with confidence, but once inside the food and service speak for themselves.

Lovely staff, nice venue. Recommend the tomato and red pepper soup and the lassgne.

Went for a valentine's night dinner, and despite the high praises I have heard about this restaurant, the experience was pretty lackluster. The dinner service was restricted to their set menu for Valentine's day and one could opt for a 2 course meal for 27.50 each or 3 course for 35 each. My partner ordered a mains and a dessert sharing platter, and I went for a prawn starter and mains. The menu did not state that if you share the dessert platter it will cost extra and after we were reassured by the service staff that it wont be charged separately, when it came down to the billing time, there was an extra 7.5 quid added on top of our 27.50 each. There was also an added service charge, automatically added on top of that, both seems disingenuous to me. I don't mind paying service fee and having worked in the hospitality industry I will gladly hand tips to servers, but this was not acceptable. The extra charge for sharing dessert platter makes no sense, 'cos essentially my partner paid 35 quid for a bowl of pasta and 4 shot glasses worth of desserts. We were told that the server did not know and she explained it to us incorrectly that it would be included in the price, and only after asking for clarification was one given to us. She also quickly went on to say that she would be happy to take off the service fee, as if doing us a favor while admitting to the fact that she gave us misinformation while taking the order. The whole situation left a bitter after taste, although the main course pasta was pretty good. The dessert platter portion wise was very disappointing especially considering the extra charge. Food was decent, I liked my risotto but the whole billing experience did not leave me with a positive impression of the place.

I loved everything about this experience. The food was amazing, and the staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Plenty of options both food and drink. Clean restaurant and toilets. Best tiramisu I've had.

Wonderful, at first unassuming little basement restaurant very close to the central station. Many popular regional Italian dishes. Very fancy atmosphere with beautiful reproductions of famous paintings. Absolutely professional staff.

my family often comes here whenever we crave for italian dishes. Their staffs are friendly and food is good too.

Set up a dinner date with my wife here. Thankfully the staffs are cooperative and their foods served were all delicious!

Great place for a bite to eat. They were able to squeeze us in at short notice. Bruschetta starter was really nice. Main was good but not outstanding.. Desert (homemade tiramisu) was really good. Service was friendly and not overbearing.

Never been before and very happy with the choice for dinner. Me and my partner both had 3 courses each and every course was splendid ! I was shocked with the price and how cheap it was considering we both had 3 courses each and 1 drink each. Will definitely return

My wife and I had chicken and mushroom risotto, lasagna, and calamari for a starter. The risotto and calamari were great. The lasagna was good, too, but the sauce perhaps a bit burnt, giving the lasagna a smokie taste. The servers were attentive even with the large number of guests and the atmosphere cozy.

This is supposedly a well reputed restaurant in Glasgow, having won numerous awards. The website stated that for parties of 6 or more that there would be a 10% service charge, but just my partner and I somehow got a 11+% charge added unaccounced. I get that the business is popular, but it seems disingenuous, no?

The food was good few things were very cold on arrival sadly which we did mention to staff which was dealt with hence 4 stars we only had a party of 4 but felt very rushed to eat and clear the table on this occasion I’d give La Lanterna another go I’d recommend booking a table

Outstanding. We've been to some very nice Italian restaurants and this is the best so far. Lovely staff, very attentive without being overbearing. The food was cooked to perfection. My 12 year old son is quite fussy about food and he devoured his steak with gusto. Next time we're in Glasgow this will be high on our list of priorities.

The portion is bigger than what we expexted. Food is amazing the the vibe is good. The restaurant is located at the basement so the internet isn't that great. Btw, you have to ring the bell to enter the restaurant. It is a little difficult to find though.

Since we were attending a concert, we booked this restaurant about 3 months prior to our event and since there was 5 of us wanted to be guaranteed a table. The menu choices were good, I went with the old classics however my friends all chose different things and they all looked excellent and with empty plates at the end obviously tasted excellent 👌 Reasonable prices for the food and drinks we had. Will definitely be back if I'm in Glasgow again. 😀

One of the best Italian restaurants I’ve been to!

We have been to Italy more than 10 times. My family is from Lake Como. This restaurant compares with the best. Our server Julia is from Naples. Most reasonable menu prices I have ever seen.

Excellent quality food, and so delicious. Best I've tasted! Lovely staff and great tabke service. Well done to all the staff, well deserving of the awards. Would highly recommend. Restaurant is downstairs, below street level.

No había estado aquí por unos años. Desde entonces ha sido renovado, la comida es insuperable. Mis otros dos invitados no habían estado antes y estaban entusiasmados con eso. Platos italianos de excelente calidad con excelentes camareros.

El fletán fue una de las mejores comidas que he tenido en mucho tiempo, mucha langosta y la sopa de cigalas que podría haber comido solo, era tan bueno. Gran servicio también, buena relación calidad-precio, volveremos!

Un par de nosotros fuimos a cenar al teatro. Tuvimos un par de cursos y disfrutamos mucho de la comida. Ambos tuvimos un entrante y principal. La comida llegó sin una larga espera. Hay que decir que estábamos entre los primeros clientes de la noche, lo que probablemente ayudó con un servicio rápido. El servicio fue agradable con los camareros que sabían de qué se trataba. Cuando salimos, el restaurante estaba lleno.

Me and my now fiancé went to this restaurant for our anniversary. The staff played a song which he requested to make the night even more special. The food was exceptional and the staff are genuine and caring.

Really enjoyed dinner here last Saturday night. We all complimented the food and thought the service was faultless. I think if I was returning I'd avoid Saturday night as I would have preferred the a Ia carte menu. On a Saturday they have a special menu (£25 for two courses) and for my pepper salad starter and chicken escalope main course I thought this quite steep. I really enjoyed the ambience of the restaurant however, the decor is beautiful and the staff were so friendly.

I was talking recently to a retired Italian chef, and asked which Italian restaurant he would recommend in Glasgow. He told me to try La Lanterna, and I'm so glad I did.It may not be the cheapest Italian I've had in Glasgow, but the quality was well worth the cost.We choose from the Saturday Menu (available from 3pm on Saturdays), which I would recommend considering. The lamb cutlets with sweet potato mash was excellent.We had three courses each, a bottle of wine, and a liquor and a liquor coffee for £99.

Almocei no La Lanterna por sugestão de um amigo e em boa hora o fiz. Serviço de qualidade superlartiva, comida italiana excelente. Situado na zona central da cidade fica numa cave lindamente decorrada mas a vedeta é mesmo a comida e a competência dos funcionários. Irei seguramente voltar.

My first visit to La Lanterna on a cold, wet and windy winter Saturday evening in Glasgow. As soon as I stepped down stairs into the wonderful basement restaurant I was transported to another world - I was on holiday and dining in an authentic Italian taverna and excited about the dining experience to come!! Everything was perfect. What a great idea to have the set menu with no supplements for any dish. I chose the scrumptious ravioli for starter and amazing lamb cutlets for main accompanied by a bold and rich red wine from the extensive and very tempting wine list. The staff were friendly and attentive and, even at the end of the evening when our table of 4 was the only one left in the restaurant, they didn't rush us out. Totally recommend and I can't wait to go back!! Charming.

We had a lovely meal for 5 on a Friday evening. The restaurant was full, it had a really nice atmosphere. Our sharing platter was amazing, I would happily have that for a main course with a salad. The wine was quite expensive but good. Thoroughly enjoyed the meal

I had been to la lanterna many years ago. I was delighted to discover their standard of their food and menu was still fab. Staff were very helpful and knowledgeable of the menu. Will return again soon

Really should have visited here many years ago so when it was suggested by colleagues I jumped at the chance. Was not disappointed. Had soup for starter which was fine, the risotto for main course was top notch. Didn't have room for dessert but the tiramisu went down well with others. Staff friendly and price reasonable. Nearly a 5 star but not quite. Will definitely go again.

Long weekend in the city to visit relatives and get to know more about the place, see some features and orientate ourselves for a future trip.

This restaurant has always been a favourite. Good menu choice,real busy Italian atmosphere, good service, and food always the best. Worth seeking out for that special celebration meal.

n un amico arrivati per il veglione ci hanno fatto accomodare all'esterno,in un piccolo tavolo vicino all'ingresso,e nonostante le 3 stufe a fungo c'era molto freddo anche a causa del via vai continuo dei clienti che uscivano a fumare e dei bambini che giocando aprivano il cancello in continuazione. Mangiare col giubbotto addosso e col freddo non è il massimo... Per carità tutto molto buono anche se le porzioni erano un pochino misere e spesso e volentieri fredde....cosa non si fa per batter cassa...

First time visiting this lovely restaurant and can’t believe I’ve never tried it before it’s really cosy and warm food was really tasty I had the rice balls to start my wife had mushroom bruschetta both where lovely I then had risotto again very tasty my wife had the veal torte and brûlée to finish couple of soft drinks each bill £ 60 for quality of food and service a bargain service was quick friendly and attentive I would definitely recommend
