La Jawaab in Kirklees

It seems like a decent place from the outside. My partner and I went in once a while back to try some sweet. I remember i said i am not going back in here again. But later (last week) i decided to give it another chance and try other things on the menu. It didn’t exceed my expectations unfortunately. The sweet you get a sence of on the menu doesn’t feel the same when it’s served to me. Maybe it has to do with how they’ve done their menu. Or I don’t know. Staff are nice friendly, but seem like it’s their first day - a bit tense. That is not a feeling i would expect from an establishment like this. Which i don’t blame the staff, that in my opinion reflects a failure in management for not properly training them. Again what do I know i am just a customer. Prices are what don’t make sense mainly. It is not proportionate with what you get in-terms of atmosphere, service, and the items served. What i know for sure is, the answer to the million pound question; Will I give this place another go? Amazing food from Marks Kitchen. Great beers too and cosy pub atmosphere.

We came for a meal, one of us had a steak that really was a piece of steak on a plate with fries nothing else, when the bill came they added a gratuity to the bill saying to ask when paying to have removed we asked this to be told it can't be taken off, surly tips should be discretionary not expected

A huge thank you to Jerry and the team for an outstanding funeral / wake service. From the initial phone call to enquire, to the preparation and the actual service, I felt completely reassured and welcomed during a difficult time for my family. Catered for vegans, old people, young people and must say, the selection on offer was fantastic. Veggie lasagne went down a treat! Also, the bar staff were really friendly and the pub was clean, welcoming and we had control of the music too. When you've got lots on your mind, having someone like Jerry and the team at The White Swan make things so much easier. Would highly recommend for funeral activities or just coming in for a pint, bite to eat and a chat.
