Kung Fu in West Berkshire

Had a takeaway food arrived quickly and hot, but the food itself was absolutely disgusting chicken balls were greasy, burnt and dry and so was the duck what I did manage to get off the quarter of duck was rubbery, ended up throwing all chicken and duck away as couldn't eat it, will never buy from here again.

Review for Kung Fu On arrival, the woman at the front desk was very welcoming, which made a great first impression. However, our seating was in a rather isolated corner, which wasn’t ideal. The staff seemed a bit disengaged and didn’t communicate well, which took away from the experience. As for the food, it was just okay—some dishes were quite greasy and fatty, which was disappointing. Overall, I’d rate it a 4/10. Unfortunately, based on this experience, I wouldn’t return.

Went for buffet on a Thursday at 8pm. Food was warm hot hot. most dishes were empty and the food selection was very poor.

It's a chinese buffet and takeaway, nothing special here food is just about average.

Highly recommend. As a diner with Coeliac disease the staff were helpful and each buffet option had a clearly labelled card with allergens so it was very easy to determine what was safe to eat. A really helpful staff member cooked me separate portions of chicken and beef suitable for my dietary requirements. Overall, a very positive experience with tasty dishes.

First visit.plenty of lovely hot food to choose from Excellent all round

If I could I would give less stars. My ring is still on fire as I type. Not sure if I ate dog or cat. Ideal if you want to loose some weight fast.

Food was cold no matter what time of day you go

My second visit in the last few weeks, lovely service, clean premises. Food is decent especially good variety of starters. In main my favourite was honey chicken with chilli oil. Lovely weekday dinner.

Excellent service, great quality food.

Far better than I thought it was going to be. Very friendly manager explained everything as my first time. Pay up front for food and bar, no problem. Overall the food was way better than most takeaways I have tried in UK. I have been to many giant Chinese buffets in the US and this was good for choice. Whole salt & pepper prawns, pork shumai, crispy chilli chicken were my favourites. I was in a veggie mood but mixed veggies was all celery. Manager was monitoring steam tables keeping food moved around. Didn’t seem very busy on a Thursday night and they started closing down at 8pm. Overall a really good value for £17. Very happy tummy afterwards.

Order takeaway. Food came hot, but it seems very old and smelt terrible. The gravy was all congealed. Won't order from here again.

VERY DISAPPOINTED!! Didn't have most of the things my grandchildren like....had to ask for prawn cocktail...l appreciate it's lunchtime but REALLY NOT IMPRESSED what food there was was cold!!

Pretty dead on a Wednesday afternoon, Hardly any food out and the food has been left out was awful, all overcooked tasted horrible, dirty bowls and plates left out on the counters made it hard to find a clean one to dish some food on, Worst buffet I have ever been to and for 16.99 what a joke! I'll stick to McDonald's next time!

Soggy chicken balls not crisp to them at all, soggy chips, flavourless egg fried rice, weird textured spring rolls. Satay sauce was nice.

Have visited several times over the years. Recent visit was for lunch. Bearing in mind this is only £9.50 for all you can eat buffet (Mon-Fri lunch price), it is amazing. Good variety to suit all tastes (including numerous traditional Chinese dishes, sushi,salads,pizza,,soup, fresh fruit, jellies, ice cream, cakes) . Yes, some items were not refilled BUT look at the price ... you'd struggle to get a coffee, sandwich and cake for this amount anywhere else.

This feedback is based on the most recent luch buffet I had. Entering around 1 pm, most of the food needed refills, but it needed me to let the host/ manager know it. I did notice other customers upset that there were no timely refills as well. The spread itself was half of what I've experienced in the dinner buffets here and most of the food served was burnt that including the basic items like rice, noodles, omelette. Although my previous visits were good, based on today's lunch, I am not going back for a while or maybe never.

Every dish today was excellent quality and great flavours.

We've eaten here before (and thought it was OK!) despite being warned off... This time we regret not getting pizza! Both came down with awful food poisoning 12 hours later. Very bad sickness that lasted nearly all weekend. Please be careful if you choose to eat here.

I'll caveat this that we ate at nearly 9pm on a Weds evening, but I don't think that's enough of an excuse for the poor quality of food and care for food we experienced. Maybe it would have been better if everything hadn't been sitting there cold and drying out all evening, but surely if you run a buffet style restaurant you prepare accordingly to prevent this. I've never really had a bad Chinese meal until coming here - sure you find good ones and your favourites, but actual bad ones? Never come across it. I found the place pretty depressing all round too, which didn't help. Avoid!

Food is lush. Best by far around Newbury area. Had a few different dishes now and all have been outstanding. Not greasy at all. Always delivered hot.

I have eaten here a few times now and the food overall is very salty. The doors were left open to the service area so the smell of the wash room flooded the dining area. During our meal they took in a Tesco delivery for their kitchen which I thought was very odd to walk the cart through the dining area like that. The food appeared to be sat out for a while as the meat that was above the tide line of the sauce was dry from the heat lamps above. The wait staff were friendly and accommodating and no plates were left stacked on our table at any point which I appreciate.

The food was ok. Service was ok as well. 2/3 pints were not full to the top of the glass so had to get a refill. A member of staff dropped a piece of cutlery on the floor, wiped the floor with her mop and then cleaned the piece of cutlery with her mop!

Went on Monday night at 7pm food was nasty, cold and tasted like it was left over from Sunday night probably the worst Chinese Buffet I have ever been to, maybe it was just bad timing going on a Monday night.

Nice place for a cheap buffet, not sure what more people expect at this price point. Food was decent, good selection, and the staff was nice.

Had this delivered as a takeaway, chicken balls had sweated and were soggy , sauce pot was half full, the chicken was over done and hard, beef and mushrooms they put bell peppers in ( I’ve never had that before) couldn’t eat as am allergic, husband said all you could taste was garlic & nothing else , he left most of it , which he never does .won’t be buying again , the only good point was the food was on time

Great service and buffet food ok for £16 pp. The prawns, muscles and Sushi was my favourite! With an open supply of sauces and Kikoman soy sauce. Mains were underwhelming i just walked by them including the desserts, but they did have chocolate fountain and icecream station - great for kids. Most of the starters had an overused old oil smell, which was off-putting, the smell of which ruined the atmosphere too. The toilets could have been nicer but they were clean, and the staff were quick to get rid of used plates on our table therefore 4*

Very disappointed as usually have an excellent lunch but dinner was cold, didn't seem as much savory choice as lunchtime either , did we have some lunchtime leftovers,more choice for dessert but also disappointing.

It's a Chinese buffet that is good for value . The food is OK. service is fine . Be aware you pay extra for drinks . On my visit it was quite empty and food seemed to be there for a while and the hour I was there I did not notice any fresh food being brought out

Chicken balls come pink and the ribs come in tiny pieces ( like 10mm long) with no meat. It's like the meat is stripped and fry the bones. 2nd time order as no other Chinese on just eat in the area and gave them the benefit of doubt, but worst chinese in the country by far

Great all you can eat restaurant, fresh good food, seems quiet when we have been so we have never seen the need to book ahead, but then we do tend to go late in the evenings, friendly helpful staff. Good option of drinks from the bar

We went for the all you can eat lunch buffet. There was a lot of things missing, we got 4 springrolls, no dim sum, hardly any desserts. As a vegetarian there wasn't much to eat at all and some things either were miss labled or didn't have any lables so I ended up eating beans, rice and sweet and sour sauce with springrolls. We were the only 2 in the restaurant, and we weren't even given cups for drinks, no one came to check on us, no service at all really. We will no be coming back.

We do love to find a buffet.. Kung Fu had plenty of options, the food was good, relatively kept warm too. Worth a visit and much better than others we have been too.

This is the second the chips have been way under cooked.

We always have team meet ups here as it's reasonably priced but lots of food. The food is pretty good standard with a wide range to meet any taste, always at a good temperature and the staff are always coming around to clear your plate if it's empty. We will return again

Over an hour late and items missing

Unfortunately I was unable to eat here. I called up asking if it was Halal and I was told it was. I arrived at the restaurant and asked again and not a single person there even knew what halal was so we obviously left. Not all restaurants are halal and that's ok but telling someone it is when you don't know is not acceptable.

Food was bland with a horrible after taste. Won't be ordering from them again.

Amazing place! Can't believe how yummy everything is, the staff are really attentive and friendly and the food variety is excellent. We have some fussy eaters in our family and they literally love everything! Can't understand the bad reviews!

After ordering takeaways from Kung Fu in Newbury for a while, I will never use them again. They are totally disloyal to customers. I accidentally ordered twice via Just Eat & tried to immediately cancel one of the orders but there is no phone number to contact Just Eat anywhere online & no answer to phone or email at Kung Fu. When Kung Fu did eventually answer phone they said it was too late to cancel as both orders were in the kitchen. This is a lie as I now know, the takeaways are taken from the Buffet !! The two deliveries arrived at my house but we returned one back to the kitchen with the delivery driver. They are refusing me a refund & have not replied to my email either. Just Eat have said also we are unable to help you. They have £44.00 of my money. I am currently reporting them. What a disgusting way to treat a customer !!! If Kung Fu just answered the phone then all this could have been avoided !!! The food we did have was luke warm as well !!

Food was very nearly cold. I mistakenly ordered twice. I phoned the restaurant immediately to advise them & there was no answer so I left a message explaining what had happened. I also emailed. I called again & asked them to refund the 1st order & not to send it. I was told their email was not working ! How was I supposed to advise them of the problem. They told me to call Just Eat. There is NOT one phone number anywhere for Just Eat. I messaged Just Eat & the next morning received an automated email saying "This inbox is no longer managed". How on earth is anyone supposed to get in contact with either of them !!!! The 2 takeaways arrived so I asked the driver to return the 1st order. I am now out of pocket by £43.77. I will report them for this terrible service ! I will never use Just Eat or Kung Fu again !!

The food was really hot and tadty

Have been here several times with family. The idea of ​​the institution is interesting, but its execution leaves much to be desired. The food is too simple and cheap, no pleasure to eat it. There is too much rice in the rolls and very little cucumber filling. Seafood is average, smoked well. The kids liked the chocolate fondue despite the taste of the cheapest chocolate. Drinks are an extra cost and I was shocked when the woman ordered a cup of coffee and she had it made from instant granules… and the orange juice was from a £1 bag… I wouldn’t want to go back to this establishment again

It's an awfully good place. After paying the entrance, tables are waiting for you. Countless types of food are available. A set of Chinese and Japanese dishes.

Ordered through just eat, food not delivered - rang Kung Fu to be told restaurant closed, delivery not coming, sorry. Then, after ordering another takeaway (direct) they turn up! Didn’t need the food then and wasn’t expecting it and they won’t refund me!

Absolutely terrible this is the worst meal I’ve had in living memory, all the food had been standing for a long time, it wasn’t event warm and had a strange film on it. The drinks were horrible we had the refillable Pepsi max which was flat and don’t even get me started on the pudding. This was beyond disappointing for £40 for two people! Avoid!!

Not sure why there’s 3 1/2 stars but this is next level amazing. Compared to nandos across the street. It’s high quality food for such a small amount!
