Koconut Grove in Cheshire West and Chester

Top quality South Indian food. Full of flavour and the portions were very good too. We asked what the waiter recommended and he did not disappoint. Chicken 65, Hyderabad lamb and the lamb chettinad all very good.

Friendly and accommodating staff BUT that’s about the only good thing about it. The place is modern and clean and once we had read the menu we realised this was not a traditional Indian restaurant. But that’s fine we are willing to go with the flow. Poppadoms and pickles first. As normal 3 pickles mango, mint yoghurt and rathia which was really spicy/hot. Starter lamb kebab again red hot/spicy and onion bahjees which were drizzled with a sweet Thai chilli sauce????? Main was a chicken curry for partner which we asked mild as everything had been on fire so far and it was vile, bland and nothing in it no onions peppers nothing. Chilli chicken which I like heat but this was off the scale and again just floating in a sticky sweet chilli sauce. Found the whole thing bizarre and confusing. Now if everything had been nice it wouldn’t have mattered the infusion of is it Indian is it Chinese but it’s was all quite inedible. I’m writing this as we had looked at reviews on trip advisor and was lead to believe it was a 4.5/5 well it’s not. It’s a push at 2.

We had a brilliant meal here, everything was cooked to perfection and you could tell it was all fresh ingredients, we both really enjoyed our curries. The peshwari naan was genuinely the best I’ve ever tasted! Service was friendly and efficient too. We’d definitely come back if we are ever back in Chester.

The menu is not your usual 'Indian'. Some interesting items Food was decent: tasty and mostly not too hot. Quite pricey It was busy when we visited : hugely popular. Poor customer management esp re access to tables. Had they over-booked? Would happily return

Lovely decor and lovely staff. We had starters of popadoms, onion barges and lamb kebab, all really nice. Mains of chicken, chicken tikka with a curry sauce and two lamb dishes again with a sauce, unfortunately my lamb was inedible, really overcooked and fatty. The sauce was more like gravy. I sent it back and the staff were very apologetic. I had a starter of chicken tikka to replace it which was nice. Shame about the lamb because it has made me not want to go again.

Don’t be put off by the location - underneath residential flats and next to a car park - this place is fabulous! The food choices were varied and the standard and quality of our dishes were excellent! . The tandoori chicken starter was very tasty and plenty to share between two, and the main courses - Kerala fish curry and Nadan kozhi chicken curry were both fantastic. The service was attentive but not intrusive. Highly recommended 👍

Amazing from start to finish. Beautiful modern restaurant and very welcoming staff. We ordered the salmon tikka and masala dosa for starters which was delicious. Would highly recommend.

We've enjoyed some of the best Indian - Nepalese restaurants in & around London. The menu here was totally different from anything we've seen or eaten before. We strongly recommend this restaurant to enjoy something different.

Proberbly the best indian meal we have ever had, opted for the karnataka king prawn curry, superb. The staff were top notch and couldnt do enough for us, just wished i could remember our waiter young lad with glasses 👌 Starters were really good, rices were all fresh, and the garlic kerala parotta were amazing and fresh, the whole night was fantastic, Nice clean modern restaurnt

Just the best curries I’ve ever had. The food is absolutely stunning. I went to south India 13 years ago and these are the real deal. It’s fragrant tasty and not swimming in fat. So good. Can’t recommend them enough - we’ve never eaten at the restaurant but take away was always delivered fresh and delicious. The Sunday buffet is also superb value and delicious.

Best Indian food I've ever had. Not greasy at all and just cooked to perfection. Everything just felt as it was cooked with love and quality all around the table. I've given 3 stars for atmosphere because it was a bit too quiet they could do with turning music up slightly just to drown out other tables etc but obviously not to high

First visit to Kokonut Grove and the food was delicious! We had the masala dosa, palak paneer, salmon tikka (starter), pilau rice and garlic naan and it was absolutely lovely! We purposely went for dishes we don't normally get when we visit other Indian restaurants so we could try something new and it did not disappoint! Our toddler also got a kids menu and £7 for a starter and main is great value, and he loved the food as well! Highly recommended.

Good food, South Indian so you won't get your regular balti meals you may be after, but very authentic, traditional South Indian food. Naan bread was amazing

Very good (and large Dosa's), Curries could not be faulted - not drowning in pre-made sauces. And they actually know about Allergies and can deal with Gluten free correctly.

We went here after a day at the races. From the outside it looks a bit like a 1960s shopping centre but don’t let that put you off. Inside, a popular restaurant with plenty of customers testament to an authentic dining experience. We thought we knew curry but we found some dishes new to us and all was high quality. Next time we visit we will take no chances on getting a table and will book ahead.

It was recommended by a friend that it was the best Indian restaurant in Cheshire, last night I placed an order for a takeaway for 2, I arrived about 10 min late only to be waiting another 20 min, not a good start. We first came in 2012 and made a repeat visit. Still excellent value and quaility. We had dosa again. Staff couldn't be more helpful. 10 years older, we now look at accesibility as well. Ground level and ramp outside. Taxi picked us up right outside so no problems there.

Amazing. Been to a lot of curry houses, Indian restaurant and ghurka restaurant and we recon this is in the top five we have been too. Lovely staff, great atmosphere and the dishes were excellently spiced. We even ended up trying one of the sweets (not usually an option). Think you have to try here if you like Indian cuisine and you're in Chester.

Superb doza all the food was good helpfull friendly staff made for a memorable experience

Mediocre food. Mediocre service. Came as a group of 4 and only tables available were separate tables of 2. So we took the table only to watch multiple tables of 4+ go unattended for the full duration of our meal. Would not come back. Food was really a waste of money.

first time visit with friend from India...he is a South going chef so knows his food. from walking into place to.leaving service was amazing..waitor called Ghirish very friendly and efficient. food was very authentic, nicely spiced and very flavorsome. Rice was light and fluffy and whole meal was filling but very light. The restaurant is very clean with a nice atmosphere. Whole experience was really pleasant..well done to whole team

I visited this place after a lot of debate and reading through the menus I had a gut feeling that the food would be good being a indian and also a restaurateur I am a bit choosy but I would give myself a pat for finding a gem .They are good and have stuck to the basics of South Indian food cuisine without complicating the flavour s we ordered chettinand lamb,Malabar lamb,Andhra kodi masala that is chicken and veg pulav would give 5 stars for the supreme quality Also a special mention to Ghirish for his polite and friendly hospitality and a special mention of the Cheshire farm ice cream

I only went here because the place I had planned to go to was closed. I had no idea what to expect. Wow! What a lovely surprise. I eat at a lot of Indian restaurants but sadly, they mostly all serve the same selection of dishes. Not here, though. I was in Chester for two nights and ended up eating here both times. Each night I had something different and each course was something new to me. I didn't have anything I would not be happy to order again. Great selection of meat, fish, veggie and vegan food so really something for everybody. I wouldn't have minded it not being so harshly lit to be honest but what does that matter when the food is so good? The staff were great, helpful and knowledgable. To be honest, if you like Indian food and you are in Chester then I can't really recommend this place highly enough. Oh, by the way they sometimes spell it with a C and sometimes with a K. They are both the same place.

This restaurant certainly doesn't have kerb appeal and when you get inside lacks a certain ambience. The staff were friendly, welcoming and helpful. Our fellow diners on adjacent tables were also very friendly. The food was good, and I would go back, but my lamb dish just lacked something. It was spicy hot but just lacked substance. However still much better than your usual Indian. A little pricey maybe. Good for vegetarians.

For meat eaters superb but very disappointed when asking if they could make paneer in a different sauce to sweet masala menu option , eg like the sauce that comes with the vegetable biryani. They absolutely refused to do this. Every other restaurant has accommodated a request to make say a paneer balti or curry. The waiter argued full on and kept interrupting me refusing to make any changes to the menu. Passive aggressive waiter.

We phoned before booking to see if they catered for a customer with celiac (Gluten Free) after a reassuring conversation we booked. On arrival it was if the new us? They greeted by name and remembered our telephone conversation. We were seated and the menu was explained and again reassured. WOW the food was absolutely the best Indian we have tasted. Great food Masala dosa Spicy calamari Veg rice Lamb curry Very. Busy restaurant went on a Thursday, Atmosphere was great staff were amazing thank you. Masala dosa was quite bland it, but the coconut chutney was great, and the lentil it comes with. Size was massive very filling. Pictures attached, great history reading the cultural background. Menus online, think you need try this place great experience. It was time to close the still allowed people come in for food. Dedication.

The food is stand out, southern Indian and offers many dishes not readily available elsewhere. It gets very busy so service can be achingly slow but the food is worth the wait.

The food was outstanding like usual. We had masala dosa each and lots of veggie starters and sides to share between us. The bill came to £20pp and we had one main each, 5 or 6 sides to share and a drink between 3 of us. It’s super affordable, portions are big and it’s our fave Indian restaurant in the UK. The staff was super attentive and we had a great time. Would be back.

We (as a table of 7) had a wonderful experience at the Koconut Grove Restaurant. The style and othe restaurant, the ambience was wonderful, and the service faultless. The food is incredible and a breath of fresh air from the norm in terms of Indian cuisine. Also extremely reasonably priced. I cannot recommend this place highly enough for a lovely evening and meal. I really hope to be back soon, although its an hours drive away. Golden congratulations to the owners and staff.

Four of us went for dinner at the Kokonut Grove on Friday 7th July. Ever since we have all been suffering with violent diarrhea - even 8 days on. Waiting for a stool sample to be analysed to get right medication. Raised this with the Kokonut Grove via email and phone and have had no response which is disappointing. I know someone else who has had the same problem who dined on the Thursday. Environmental Health have been informed. Therefore I would avoid personally. Shame really.

Amazing food. If you love curry, you will love this restaurant. We had salmon starter. Salmon curry. Aubergine curry and basmati rice. Good size portions and lovely flavours. We'll definitely visit again.

Pls do not call this as an Indian food. This is great insult to it. That’s what I have to say. Pls loook at the tikka masala you served along with garlic naan n plain rice. Really bad experience.

Food was gorgeous, and it had a varied menu with plenty of tempting choices and felt very authentic. I loved the fact of the menu focused I felt focused on south Indian dishes, so not your usual choices that you get in most Indians but could see this being an issue if people in your party like their staple Balti. Also really enjoyed the desert choices, I'm not used to having so many in an Indian so was very disappointed that I was too full to try one but will definitely save room when I go next time. The service was excellent and very attentive, tailoring the hotness of the dishes to our preference.

One of my worst experience in UK. Have tried a handful of Indian restaurants in one year of being in the UK. Service, Atmosphere and Cleniness is really great. When it comes to food I would say as advertised it hasn't got any Kerala (South Indian Flavour) I mean not the extreme spice we are used to. I tried Beef Double fry, Kerala Porotta,Nadan Chicken Curry,Kumarakom Fish Moli, Masala Dosa and Battura. The reason I decided to go there is because I saw this authentic names and thought would give a try. But none of it does any justice to there names, what I understood was even though the names are very authentic Kerala names it is meant for a different set of customers. I do completely understand the fact that restaurant has to cater food for different set of people, atleast when you give this kind of names show some sort of justice to the names. My suggestion if you see them names and you expect the authentic cuisine please don't waste your time and money.

What food that was on was pretty good but we felt some dishes were missing , no onions bhaji and no Jalfezzi at an all you can eat seems wrong , otherwise all good , very clean restaurant with lovely staff .

Buffet lunch was nothing special. The choice of items in the buffet were limited and food taste was somewhat average.
