Tattenhall Spice in Cheshire West and Chester

18th Birthday meal for 35 of us - Raj and his team made the night very memorable for us all. Very helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Allowed us to set tables up our liking loads of flexibility on decorations and balloons. Miah was the waiter/cameraman for the evening who got involved in the evening and was great laugh. The food was Hot, fresh and authentic and everyone loved it. Thanks again Raj. 🙏🏻

First visit to Tattenhall Spice and very pleased we went. Service was excellent, prompt but no hovering around or constant question of “is everything ok”. Food was so flavourful and just the right portion size. Over all great experience and would recommend

Absolutely delicious meal with a fab choice of not your usual Indian dishes, as well as plenty of old favourites. I had a wonderful, aromatic chicken dish with pops of lemon zest that really sparkled on the tongue. Very reasonable prices too, for food and drinks. Our first visit and definitely won't be our last. Try it, you won't be disappointed!

Great! From the service to the food! Very welcoming and attentive. The menu is a traditional Indian menu with some added dishes. We ordered way to much but each dish was lovely! We even took some of it home. Would definitely recommend!

Great staff, great service, great atmosphere and above all, great food. We were delighted to come across this local gem of a place. My husband Lloyd is a bit of a curry connoisseur and asked for a Ceylon which was not on the menu but noted that the restaurant was happy to accommodate individual requests. They absolutely nailed it! How happy was he! The bad thing about writing such a positive review is that we might not be able to book a table due to demand! They are also open on Christmas Day and we are soooo tempted to let a turkey live another year.

Cleanliness was pretty poor, we waited around for quite some time to be seated when we’d booked a table in advanced. I think they may have been quite short staffed as we were waiting around quite a bit to be seen too, it’s not very big restaurant and quite dated. Nether less, food was yummy when we got it and we left very full and happy with the food and the waiters who served us were pleasant and helpful. I don’t think we would return for a sit down meal based on the above information. Restaurant needs to look at the cleaning in the waiting area/restaurant majorly. Especially the radiators and the inside of the radiators!! Needs a good clean and fresh paint throughout in our personal opinion!

My husband and I are staying in Beeston and had a recommendation to go to Tattenhall Spice and we were so pleased we decided to go! We had starters and main which were really delicious with great sized portions. I chose the butter chicken for my main and it is by far the nicest one I’ve ever had. We will definitely be going back and to top it all the staff are lovely and friendly.

We went there as a table of 7 with the kids after a day out at the ice cream farm as it was only 5 minutes drive away. The venue is a little dated but it suits the village area and the prices reflect that too by being reasonable. The service was excellent and the food was absolutely brilliant. The Asian style garlic chicken tikka curry was 10 out of 10! The only downside is there is no air conditioning which means it can feel a little bit warm during really hot days. Decided to go here for a curry whilst on holiday nearby. I was expecting more having seen some good reviews online. The service was good however the quality of the food was average. I would consider going again but would choose a different dish.

Went here for an evening meal. It was lovely. Best indian we have had in a long time. The staff were lovely and even gave my partner a bottle of wine for his birthday. Excellent food and reasonable price. Would highly recommend

I’ve been to this place a few times, staff are friendly and the food is great but I don’t know how this place has 5 star for hygiene?! I saw a rat! I mentioned it to a member of staff but they acted like it was nothing and I was seeing things! I will not be returning back here unfortunately.

The take away was disgusting apart from the starters then we arrived home the main was swimming in water and obviously been warmed up the chicken was cold in the middle and the sauce was lumpy it went all in the bin ...will never go there again

Was surprised by the rave reviews and thus ultimately very disappointing. Most south Asian restaurants have moved on from the formulaic meat added to a brightly coloured and slightly sweeter sauce than you should expect.

The staff were friendly and made you feel very welcome despite them already being quite busy. They remained attentive through out the meal. The food was wonderful and arrived quickly, the extensive and varied list of curries on the menu meant they even had my favourite which not many places have. Only downside is that we are in the area on holiday so can’t return again!

On holiday in the area and we found ourselves at the Tattershall Spice within the week. The menu is extensive and the quality of the meat, sauces and extra items such as naan were high. The restaurant is clearly popular with locals for eat in and take away. The staff are attentive and friendly.

Great food! But the most exceptional thing is the team that work there. My wife and I experienced the most friendly reception we've ever had in a restaurant. Definitely our new eating place.

This is the third consecutive restaurant meal I have eaten this week. The first was a ridiculously priced lunch in Manchester, the second a set lunch in Alderley Edge and now the Tattenhall Spice Indian restaurant. My wife and I had occasion to visit Tattenhall and a mutual friend insisted that we visit this particular restaurant. We called in at 8.00pm and were met by Raj, the manager, we explained that our friend (whom was known to Raj) had said that we must try the Rogan Josh Lamb Tikka. We were going to order two but Raj said that we should share two dishes, which was what we did. In the end, Raj decided what we should try on all courses as we can never remember what we have enjoyed at the various Indians we have visited. Therefore, we had two papadums and chutney to start, onion bhajis to share as our official starters and then moved on to mains. The rogan josh was excellent (although next time I will have it spicier) and Raj made up a dish which was not on the menu but similar in texture and taste to the RJ. We had rice with these mains and naan bread. All in all, excellent choices and a first class meal. The prices are very reasonable and the bill for two was less than the cost of the wine on my first outing of the week. On the subject of wine, we had an excellent pinotage and all the wines are reasonably priced. The waiter was very attentive and Raj stopped by to see if we were happy on each course. However, neither of them "hovered" and we had a peaceful meal. This restaurant is a real find and one we expect to return to soon.

Tuvimos una estancia de una noche antes de dirigirnos a el zoo de Chester, tomamos un pasear hasta el pueblo. El personal era muy alegre y acogedor, mi esposa tiene que tener cuidado con las especias y que a medida que hicieron de ella un plato de ella sólo era increíble descripción de lo que ella puede y no puedo comer. Nosotros tres (1 niño) con Poppadoms, bebidas y platos principales para menores de 50 libras fue una estupenda relación calidad-precio, incluso me presentó a una cerveza india que no había probado antes!

Siendo asiduos de comida india y haber viajado a través de la india nos sorprendió un poco. Un gran servicio. Equipo experto. Curry muy dulce. Tal vez para gustos ingleses?

Myself and my lady had never been before but as we were staying nearby we called in and were not disappointed, the staff were very good and even chose a meal for me as I wanted to try something different, my meal was fantastic and I was hard pressed to remember a better one, my girlfriend really enjoyed hers too, will definitely call again when anywhere near, a 10/10

I found this Indian when passing through Tatenhall last summer and we decided to visit. We booked for 8 and arrived at 7pmA warm friendly welcome. Great food and good service. A good white wine at a reasonable priceWill definitely call again

This good. Never eaten a better prepared/served curry in all my years. Standard menu but how different the food is. In the same way that a Rolls is a car, like an Austin Meastro is also a car but what a contrast to the former.If you are within 20 miles of this one and fancy a curry.......don't think twice.

We have not been here for a very long time.. since the previous owners.. but it won't be such a long gap next time! The menu is a mix of the usual Indian dishes but also done more unusual choices. It was very tasty and plenty of it to share around. The staff were really chatty and friendly and it was interesting to talk to them about the origins of some of the foods on offer. If there was any criticism, it would be the delay in getting our meals: probably due to the roaring take away trader! But we were not in any rush so was not a huge issue.

I travel from Tarporley most weeks for a Friday night takeaway to Tattenhall Spice and would highly recommend you to do the same.The food has always been top notch and the service first rate. I really like that the guys do a small portion of the main courses for my children who love the chicken tikka masala and chicken korma.Enjoy!

It was a last minute decision to go to the 'Spice' and decided to eat in rather than take away. We were not in the least disappointed. Although quiet at the time we were eating..the restaurant felt comfortable, the service was attentive but not 'in your face', but best of all..the food chosen was excellent. We arrived after a long drive to the area from home and were recommended to visit this due to the late time. The staff were welcoming, friendly, the choice was good and suitable for Angie my wife, who is vegetarian. A good start to a great weekend.

I had take away from here a couple of weeks ago as a treat. The family enjoyed vegetable bhuna and vegetable birirani, naan and I simply love the papadams and dips- I could just eat those! We ordered by phone and picked it all about about 30 mind later which was ideal. We'll be back

We regularly visit for takeaways which the whole family enjoy. The staff are extremely friendly and polite. The food is great and would recommend for takeaways - we have not sat and dined in this restaurant so cannot comment on that side of the business. Our children love the chicken korma and tikka masala!

Just had 3 of the Indian meals from Tattenhall Spice. (Bhuna, Korma & Dupiaza). All 3 of us thought this was the best Indian we have ever had. Can't recommend this highly enough-we will be back again!! If you want the best, go to Tattenhall.

Visited as a family of four Ho were staying at the carden park hotel. The staff were extremely attentive. The food was absolutely delicious - one of the best curries we have ever had (and we are curry fans who over the years have eaten in lots of Indian restaurants). Can't rate this restaurant highly enough.

A nice modern Indian restaurant in a lovely Cheshire village. Excellent meal from a lovely, friendly team. We were invited to look in the kitchens at the oven our meal was prepared in and made to feel very welcome, the food was excellent and highly recommend the shashlick and naan bread is gorgeous.

We called in after visiting the grandchildren up the road, I had read the reviews before and was looking forward to trying it out - we were very impressed of the service and of course the food, we went for the buffet as it was quicker and it was lovely.

We visited this venue several years ago and weren't impressed!However we found out that, for the past two years, it has been under new ownership/management and what a difference that has made!!It's really not surprising, as the new front man, Raz, was previously at another restaurant in Chester which used to be our favourite. Since his departure, that venue has slowly gone the wrong way and our last take-away was poor.It was great to see Raz again and experience his friendly and professional approach to the business. Best of all is that the quality of the meals they serve is absolutely top class... my wife considered the Jalfrezi to be the best she's ever tasted!Obviously this will now be our first choice Indian Restaurant...

Well, what can I say about Tattenhall Spice! How about 'Superb'?I have had take away food from this restaurant many times and eaten 'in' on a few occasions. I have only experienced superb food and fantastic service. Raj and all the other staff are very friendly and attentive without being 'pushy'. I would recommend this restaurant to everyone who enjoys top quality Indian food whether you decide to eat 'in' or 'take away'.Enjoy

We ordered a variety of dishes and sides and asked for them to be ready for collection at 8pm. The food was ready bang on time - 8pm. Oh Wow! What a superb meal we had: freshly prepared, generous portions, really tasty and every bit as good as if we'd dined in the restaurant. Reasonable price too. A perfect end to our day - and no cooking or washing up. We've decided to have a take away from Spice once a fortnight now.

Was a single customer on a business trip. Got a table at this restaurant and had the option of joining in on the buffet or ordering from the menu. I decided for the buffet and it was a very tasty mix of mild to medium hot Indian dishes. Food was plenty available and refilled several times so it was always freshly cooked and did not simmer too long. The ladies of the couples eating all received a rose when leaving which was a nice touch. The staff were very friendly and keen to be of service.

Having eaten here a few of times before in an evening we thought we'd give the Sunday buffet a go - absolutely brilliant! The food was fresh and hot not luke warm ( which can be a concern with a buffet type meal!). We were brought freshly cooked naan breads, to our table to accompany our meal which was a nice touch. The staff were, as always, very pleasant, polite and welcoming which always adds a little extra to the meal. Choice of buffet dishes on offer is not as big as some restaurants serve but what was on offer covered all bases and the quality of the dishes could not be faulted at all.

I have now been a regular weekly customer at this excellent village restaurant for over a year and have never had a meal that was anyway short of superb. The menu has variety and dishes to suit all tastes. The staff and owner are enormously friendly and courteous. The restaurant is immaculate although I often take away. I recommend the "chicken chat" starter and "chicken naga" main and a very cold bottle of cobra!

Highly recommend attending this great restaurant situated within a pub (although separated). Great selection of dishes and more than happy with value and service.
