Knaphill Fish Bar in Woking

We swapped from our local fish and chippie that had become very poor to Molly's about 10 months ago after trying out several in the local area - it was a close run thing between them and Knaphill Fish Bar. Both really very good at the time. We are on the hunt again. The problem is the inconsistency and last weeks was particularly poor with the fish being very small, the batter thick and flabby, the chips dry - seems to have lost it's way. Maybe it's the new staff that haven't got to grips with what they are doing. When fish and chips are so expensive you want to eat and enjoy it. Come on Molly's, I don't like marking anyone down - and it's not just me. NB We have a fish and chip supper night with friends on a regular basis and they say the same :-(

This wonderful couple accommodate me and my team at very short notice for fish and chip lunches for the elderly living in knaphill and sheerwater, thankyou everyone enjoyed them. Merry Christmas to your lovely family. Great value for money, food great.

Just wanted a large portion of chips...a long wait...very disappointed with both quality and quantity.

Had 25 fish and chips on Friday 2 June 1 saveloy and chips and 1 chip the fish and chip where the worst I have ever had looked like they was cooked at lunch time and reheated never ever was the fresh never will go back there again

Moved into Knaphill recently, and had a chat with a few locals about places to eat in the village. Everyone seemed to be raving about Knaphill Fish bar, and now I know why. The staff are amazingly friendly, headed up by an always smiling Sue. Ordered for 2 kids and 2 adults, so had a wide selection of food. Everything was cooked perfectly, I ordered a large cod, and was warned its normally big enough for 2 people, they were not wrong. All food was tasty, fresh and value for money. Yes you have to wait, but that price is worth paying to get freshly cooked food. My kids both said they were the best chips they had tasted from any fish and chip shop, and I have to agree. Worth a visit, you wont regret it.

We have been here a few times recently and food and service are excellent. Haddock was superb. Highly recommended and looking forward to next visit

Fabulous piece of cod. Chips nice too. The place is spotless and the staff are efficient and friendly. We don't have fish and chips often, but when we do, this is our first choice.

Good food and service with a smile - this fish bar has earned our loyal custom over several years. We won't go anywhere else, despite plenty of other options. Do wish it was possible to pay by contactless though.

asked for salt and vinegar on my chips, got no vinegar and far too much salt and chips taste slightly like eggs

Having had a rotten day I asked my hubby to bring home fish and chips, we have never used this place before but won’t go anywhere else again. The cod was thick and beautifully cooked with crisp light batter and the chips were perfect chippy chips. Thanks for cheering my day up.

Sue and Alan offer fabulous local fish and chips. There portions are excellent value for money. We recently used them to cater for my sisters Wedding and we were extremely pleased with the quality of food and overall professionalism of the staff. I would highly recommend them

Nice people, good food, generous portions <------ says it all. Apparently TripAdvisor needs more words, so i should also say that the chips are almost always spot on.

Called in for takeaway fish and chips at £14 for 2 standard cod and chips, one was overcooked and dry with soggy batter and the other cod was a dark grey colour looked most unappetising and again overcooked. Chips were ok the one star is for the friendly service but won’t be going back again

Hadn't been in years but stopped by one night on a whim. Better than I remembered and I'll definitely make it one of my regular take aways now

I regularly get fish and chips here and they are really delicious. Fish is cooked to order so you need to be prepared to wait but it s never greasy and the batter is crispy, just as it should be. (a vast improvement on how it used to be under previous ownership) Staff are very welcoming and friendly too

Best chippy for miles around, Sue and Alan serve great, freshly cooked food in a clean friendly take away. I would suggest calling to order your food so it is ready when you get there as can have a bit of a wait at busy times.

Visiting friends for supper, suggestion was to collect fish and chips on the way to theirs.All good we pass the restaurant.Cooked freshly to order.Alan was calm and professional.Had a list of four different meals which he processed 'by magic'.Served by a charming and friendly young lady, with a great sense of humour.The food was superb, fish cakes, battered sausages, fresh fish with amazing batter which remained crisp and light until we reached our destination.HUGE portions of chips, and not soggy.We will definitely be back.Funny side to this, I was supposed to go to the fish shop opposite.SO glad we did not.

The fish alongside the chips are super fresh (tell by taste). Batter is always well done. Lastly friendly staff. Cannot fault it.

Dry burger, dry fish, burnt onion rings and the scabby ends of the chips! I don’t think we actually had a chip that looked like a chip! Complete waste of money and very disappointing! The Ketch in St Johns is the best!

As a local fish and chips shop this is a very good place and serves reliably good food. The staff are incredibly friendly and will help in any way. It’s takeaway only. The fish is particularly good being extremely fresh and well-battered. Highly recommend it.

Tried so many places but never came across such a tasty batter -very light and crispy every time I pop in . Fish so fresh it's melting in your mouth. Nicely and gently seasoned. Portions generous even when am asking for small one :) Absolutely worth being recognised widely .

Excellent food and customer service Order fish and chops for the whole family on Friday night, there were lot of people ahead of us, but it was not taken too long to our meals, I love food coo fresh and don't mind wait for a bit. Highly recommended

Never a bad meal from here. Fish so fresh and serviced brilliantly. Had a trainee on who quiet clearly struggling but manger was patient and helped her through it. Well done

Very good chips. The calamari here is reli good. The staff are nice and really friendly. This one is better than the one which is across the road in my opinion.

Stopped in for fish a chips I was told that this place was brilliant.....haw ever it was not bad I found the fish grease and the batter pappy although it was cooked fresh chips were up to a great standard....might go back in a few months to retry

Cod and Chips mushy peas ! Mmmmmmm.... Always very friendly and very generous with their portions. Curry sauce great too. Gravy not as good as 'up North' proper gravy. It was abit too salty for me.

Very poor service and cold food,The fish was really small and looked more like a cheap frozen fish than a fresh cod the chip portions were small and chips undercooked. Felt overpriced and generally poor. would never return

I live about 100yds from this establishment,so it's my default can't be bothered to cook dinner place to go. Alan and crew serve up great fish and chips mostly to order so it's always fresh to take away. Would recommend them.

The fish and chips here are fantastic. I always have plaice so cooked to order and it's great. Always piping hot when I get it home 5 mins by car.
