No volveré a ir.

We had tickets to an exhibition that unfortunately were only available with lunch. We arrived and waited in an enclosed space to be told they had overbooked and were currently no tables. This annoyed us seeing as we didn’t actually want the lunch to begin with. We were seated by the window that had a lovely view however. Menu was limited but had something for all of us and food on the whole was enjoyable. Service was poor and we often felt forgotten. We had to sit with dirty plates in front of us for too long whilst others around us were served. Weren’t asked if we wanted more drinks and had to ask twice for the bill. Took 45 mins in total and only got given the bill after a member of our party went to the bar.

Tate membership used to be great. Aside from the exhibitions you had access to a cracking bar with great views over the city during the day and in the evening, with like-minded art lovers. That was then. But it's a different story now. The members' room no longer opens in the evenings – because covid, apparently, and excuse that they've been trotting out for the last five years. Strange how other venues seem to manage it but hey ho. Then there's the guest policy. Basic membership gets you in but there's an extra fee if you want to bring a guest. But any member or guest can bring up to six children each and many do. The result is that the room resembles a particularly unruly crèche with bored children running everywhere and unconcerned parents glued to their phones. When I raised these issues while cancelling my membership after fifteen years, I was met with complete indifference (which, judging by the complete lack of any management response to reviews seems to be policy). Considering membership? Think again.

We arrived with no reservation so with not a lot of hope of getting a table as it was Mothers' Day. However a separate queuing lane gave us the option of seating for the bar menu, which we took. The bar menu was small but not in any way inferior, what we chose was all well prepared, presented and very tasty. And you don't sit at the bar, very comfortable stools and a deep dining counter are ranged looking straight out over the river front so while you eat your bar food you have one of the most interesting views in London. The staff were extremely busy so service was a little slow, but our waiter knew his stuff, he was knowledgeable and helpful. Only complaint is to management - employ more staff on days when you know it will be that busy! I thoroughly enjoyed my Mothers' Day dining experience. Restaurant is accessible via the lifts, restaurant is good for wheelchairs and children, but bar area seems to only e for those able to get onto the rather tall stools.

While the location has a good view, service and attention to detail was terrible. We booked our reservation from overseas, there was no option to select a table when we booked - though it seems they do have a process to request specific tables. On arrival there were many open tables by the window, they took us to one that had been set up for a second couple to sit there as well - we shared we did not want to sit with another group. On asking for a specific table next to the window they shared this was reserved (how? Again - it would be great for them to share a seat map when booking if this is allowed). We ended up with the table next to this. As it ended up happening, the first table they offered us they placed a part of 2 at by themselves - unlike what they had suggested to us (to share with another couple). We ordered a bottle of champagne (the only Guests to do so - and it seems they had little experience with this) - they brought this to the table - then took it to a work station to open it. They placed it on the table in a broken ice bin (water continuously leaked out during the meal - only after sharing this 3 times did they replace the bin). While the scallops and soup of the day were descent, the rest of the food was average at best. Given the great location on the river they have such an opportunity to make something great here - but have a long way to go to do so. Poor experience and definitely not worth the money spent.

Paid £64 for a Yayoi Kusama inspired lunch (two courses) for two. The room is vast and lovely, the waiters friendly. The view is fantastic. I am afraid the positives stop here. The menu is weird and unappealing. We frankly did not know what to order. We ended up having a very small and tastless potato soup with a piece of bread followed by a strange mousse au chocolat that looked like pate with olives on top. Looked and tasted like it had been made by a child. We asked for butter for the bread and were later charged £1.50 for a small pot of butter. We left the place feeling quite hungry. A very disapointing experience and quite frankly a bit of a rip off. I have been a member of the Tate for some years and I am now considering cancelling my membership. The Members room is not much better and very overpriced too.

We had lunch today after visiting an exhibition and wished we hadn’t. Staff were friendly and accommodating (outside of the moody host who gave us a table). The food was poor. Tasteless. We left hungry. Pizza for our daughter was a piece of whole meal bread with no tomato sauce and sad looking pieces of tomato and mozzarella not cooked, but layered over each other. Very odd. We had scallops to share. There was actually only one tiny scallop so we had to cut it in half. Ridiculous. Tasteless soup and uncooked pasta for mains. Such a shame as the space is amazing. We were charged for dessert we didn’t have. Didn’t realise till we got home. Customers deserve better. Especially given the prices. Never again.

Booked a 3 course dinner as part of an exhibition package (basically the only option available which at the time was quite annoying) and was apprehensive about the meal having seen some negative Trip Adviser reviews. Turns out that this was unfounded, the food was delicious, portions plentiful and the ambiance and service were excellent. I was dining alone and the waiting staff were amazing and struck right tone between being friendly and engaging but not overbearing. The view from the bar style seats overlooking St Paul’s is incredible and given the location value for money vs. Other spots in the area is very good too. I’d definitely do again as part of a late night exhibit package as something a bit different on a Saturday. Have already recommended to friends and family.

The view is one of the best things about the café, situated on the 6th floor of Tate Modern and overlooking the river Thames and Saint Pauls Cathedral. It's nearly always busy at lunchtimes and the acoustics do mean that it feels rather clattery at times. The food counter is nicely presented albeit the menu options are a bit limited and run out very quickly, so get there early if you can. We'd gone there a few days before and there was no food at all bu 14:20. Quiche and salad(s) have been on the menu for as long as I can remember and this is probably the best option although at £16, it is quite pricey if you then add drinks and possibly a cake on top of that. Water is available by the tills. Counter staff were very friendly on the day we went. Till staff not quite so. As with most busy places, it struggles with keeping tables cleared and keeping the place looking generally looked after. That aside, if you do find a table with a view, it makes for a pleasant location and the quality of the food is not bad.

The artist inspired menu we had to have to see the exhibition was presented well, but the tastes were not there. Odd choices and little options. Really bland with the exception of the bavette steak which was a little chewy, but nice. The bread basket was a joke. Very expensive lunch considering the ordinary tables and chairs that looked like they’d come from a school cafeteria. Service was very good, but the kitchen would fare better if they were a bit less pretentious and cut out food like soused herring (there’s a reason you don’t see it often in the UK) and did proven dishes instead, they would end up with happier customers.

Booking for and paying mostly in advance of this meal was the only way we could get tickets for an exhibition. The food wasn’t bad by any means. However, for 2 people including the cheapest wine (in a crappy decanter), this cost £200. I am not adverse to paying that, but we were plonked on a table shared with someone else, the tables themselves are cheap as are the very uncomfortable chairs and we had no view of anything in particular. The service was ok, but very slow and as said whilst the food was ok, it was no where near the quality you would expect for the price and the overall experience was poor. All in all that left us feeling a bit like we’d been scammed - This being the only way we could get exhibition tickets. Whilst we love the Tate modern not a chance we would eat here again.

Reserved a table for three after visiting the Cezanne exhibit. Was given a price in advance for a prix-fixe menu. They did not honor that price and tacked on an additional charge. In addition, one of my guests was feeling sick, and we asked to be able to take-away his main course. Were told that they did not permit take-away. A policy that is not only wasteful but disdainful of the client. In addition, the pretentious-sounding menu was just that - pretentious and not worth the price.

We had no idea what restaurant to eat in at the museum. The one was reservations only and one was too casual. We wanted sit-down. Plus it was getting late for lunch - after 2:00 pm and we were lucky to find this one behind...

This place sells sandwiches that are mainly bread with little else. Worse than most supermarkets. My egg salad one consisted of thick soggy bread with less than half a sliced boiled egg and two slices of tomato! Very bad value indeed. Doesn’t compere with The...

We were lucky enough to get a table by the windows in the Tate Modern's level 6 Kitchen restaurant, and the view over the Thames and across to Sty Paul's Cathedral is just great. If it weren't for that view, this review would have just...

We had the Tate Burger and the Lamb Flat Bread both of which were delicious. A very informal dining area with a nice view and full bar. Just what was needed on a snowy London day.

Pleasant location overlooking the Thames. Pleasant service. Decent veg - but very poor duck breasts (not just for me but for both of us). Inadequately cooked and tough. £44 for two main courses, two soft drinks and two coffees. At that price only warrants two...

The service was nice and the drinks good if a little pricey. But the food was distinctly average and potentially had been already plated and then warmed when we ordered but maybe wrong about this. Had the hake and the vegetable paella. Olives and bread...

Having had lunch at both restaurants at the Tate Modern twice within the last fortnight, I wonder whether I ever should return again. But then there are enough tourists to fill my place and they do not complain. Of course the view is stunning, providing...

Me gustaría volver.
