Kings Fish Bar in Hastings

I called in here with my grandsons recently. It was at their recommendation, they are 8 and 10 yrs old. 😃 It was like going back in time to a period decades ago. The decoration was as I would have expected in my youth, bright, sharp, practical, and spotlessly clean. There is plenty of room to sit comfortably at the tables, not cramped like many places. They even give you chairs that can move and adjust for your comfort, not fixed and rigidly tied to the table. Just like the old days. The atmosphere was warm and friendly with a good rapport from the owners. You just can't beat happy smiling faces from behind the counter to make you feel wanted and valued as a customer. Would I recommend, most definitely, I'm going back to try their fish, which looked delicious. 😋 PS. We had better portions and more to eat than at KFC in Silverhill on our last dine out. Plus, it was cheaper.

This is a true family business that never fails to please. The chips and whatever you choose to go with them are always crisp and fresh and served with a smile and a friendly word. Exceptional.

we travel from Preston each year and whilst here ALWAYS visit this fish bar. The owner and his staff are increadibly kind and friendly. The food is first class...see you soon!

Fantastic service. Welcoming gals, friendly. We had the cod n chips. Portions were huge. The chips were good but we couldn't finish the cod. There were quite a few bones in it and it was a little on the bland side. We were quite tired and maybe not as hungry as we needed to be after a long day travelling. NExt time we'll try something else.

Had wonderful Fish&Chips here, had asked the lovely ladies for advice as to which of the fish might suit my taste. Service and food both excellent, enjoyed outdoors on one of their tables ! Will return next time - much recommended.

Sad to say this place has really gone downhill. Chips are undercooked and the fish is covered in thick greasy batter. Lovely staff and extremely generous portions.

This was my first time eating out in St Leonards and what a warm welcome it was! I rarely write reviews but felt compelled to publicly say how exceptional the service was. Friendly, kind, patient and accommodating. And the fish and chips was great! I'll be back!

What an incredible Fish and Chip shop. Firstly the staff are so lovely. Not sure I have ever been in a fish and chip shop that feels like a community. The quality of the fish and chips are the best I have ever tasted...... Ever. We were the last to order and they made anything fresh. No quibbles and with a smiles. I thank you so much for a delicious evening.

They usually good but lately they been awful. Their chips now sits and becomes dry and been overcooked. Last night we ordered fish, chips and calamari rings and the batter has been greasy because they either don’t change the oil or not hot enough and their calamari ring’s batter was over cooked and very rubbery and both me and dad found we actually suffered food poisoning. They have become bad this last couple of months

Freshly cooked fish and chips and great service too. I ate at one of the tables in the shop (they have tables inside and just outside on the street). The team behind the counter were great, very welcoming and happy to help. I had fish, chips, mushy peas and a tin of pop. Batter was crispy, chips were fresh from the fryer and there were plenty of peas. Table service was a nice touch, china plate, knife and fork and plenty of S&V available. It was a Monday evening so the shop wasn't mobbed but there was a steady flow of customers. I noticed that all customers were informed how long their food would be. Proper fish and chip shop. I'll be back

Delicious food and generous portions. Owner is always smiling and welcoming as soon as you step inside. Gave me a free battered sausage cause I had to wait a little longer than expected. What a time to be alive

Fish and chips restaurant. We something to take away. Both chips and fish was extremely soft as filled with oil. Probably the oil wasn't hot enough. Though we are from German so probably just not our taste

As a take out the fish and chips were delicious, food hit the spot!! The large piece of fish was huge a couldn't manage to eat it all, though it wasn't wasted, hungry mouths lol!! This well now become our regular fish and chip shop.

Top quality fish and chips. Fish cooked to order with excellent chips and all with fresh clean cooking fat/oil, so none of that stale aftertaste. Wide choice of fish with choice from rock salmon through to skate and calamari. Perfect for eating on the beach.

Nice fish and chip shop. Flat entrance but a bit of a tight squeeze as a wheelchair user and the high, busy counter made it too tricky to see the menu from my 'chair. Food was served quickly, piping hot and delicious. Nice range of veggie options compared to many other places, the pea fritter and curry spring roll were particularly delicious!

Late 2019 ... Very disappointed.. was seated.. given a menu, ordered and then asked to move as large group of foreign students arrived... Asked to move in a rather stern way, I chose to move out completely. Have eaten here many times, but first time i have ever been asked to move from a table after ordering. Please never ask people to move so you can accommodate a better situation. what a shame as had very good days here.

Good solid fish and chippy. They cook to order so freshness is top notch but you will wait if you don't call ahead. Very friendly staff so the wait will fly by if you just show up and order.

Always a delight to get my fish and chips from them as they are always welcoming and friendly, the prices are decent and the portions are big, never a complaint, definitely recommend them

Cracking fish and chips. Really friendly staff, the option to eat in or out and top quality food, we ordered large fish and large chips with some mushy peas (£9.10 total). Lots of different options (deep fried mars or snickers bars available). Close enough to the sea to wander down for your meal!

I have been there every Wednesday for over 3 weeks and the quality has not changed. Everything is cooked to order. The food is not greasy. The cod is amazing, no skin and lovely thin batter. The chips are the best I have ever tasted. There is no competition. Staff are very friendly and always smiling, also can't do enough to help.

We found it by accident and hesitated a bit as it didn’t look that appealing with white washed walls and few customers. How wrong we were! The fish and chips were great, good portion size s and very well presented. The staff were very friendly and helpful and we were glad we popped in.

Not convinced it was locally caught Hastings fish, which I was rather expecting, but maybe that was because it was so very greasy. I've been to better places in Hastings in the past.

Very pleasant people. The place is open and airy and looks very clean. The food I had was good but they had a much greater variety on offer than what I ate. I saw families eating in who seemed to be having a good time too.
