Lovely couple run this shop, I believe they are Japanese. I'm old and generally just eat cooked food but this Take away has an extensive menu including Sushi. I use this shop fairly often. Lovely couple, great Fish & Chips.

Tasty and varied sushi, and best fish and chips I had when we visited Herne Bay

I was a little skeptical when ordering sushi from a fish and chip shop, but I have not been disappointed in the slightest! The food was amazing, the raw fish tasted fresh and was better quality than I've had at a lot of other sushi places in Canterbury. The hot food was cooked in front of me so was still hot long after I took it home to eat, as well as tasting amazing and authentic

The food is amazing. Always fresh and properly cooked. The only thing I would add at least one position with smoked salmon. I think most people prefer smoked salmon to fresh. This is the only place in Herne Bay which does proper sushi.

Was debating getting this as I'm sometimes disappointed with sushi but it was unreal. So good and loved that my partner could get fish and chips too as he didn't fancy sushi! Will definitely be getting again as sushi is my favourite! Had some chips too they were lovely. For the price of the sushi it was some of the best I've ever tried x

Have ordered many times - quality of sushi is excellent. Have only ever had one delivery that was slightly late but they proactively called to advise. Great restaurant, quality, and service

Our food was so late the bags were soggy and the stuff nearly fell out, I know it’s not the restaurants fault because I rang the restaurant at 19:25 (due 19:05 - 19:25) and it had left 10 mins ago. The time then went to 19:35 then 19:44, on expected delivery; arrived at 19:50 - according the restaurant and the driver (who had no explanation of lateness) they only had 1 other order to deliver. All of the food was cold and the fish was really tough. Terrible service from the Just Eat driver!

Tried the Sushi and have say the Sushi was very, very good. Up there with Sushi I’ve had abroad and in London. So will be returning and look forward to it. Also had chips etc. again very good, going to be my new go to place.

This place has really gone down hill. Today will be the last day I order from them. Undercooked hard chips, dry/hard battered sausage. Even found a metal staple in my chips today, which is the last straw. How disappointing.

I usually like the food here, but I’m really disappointed to received under cooked chips AND a metal staple found in the chips as well. Disappointing.

I don't think you'll find many fish and chip shops that can deliver fantastic sushi. We've enjoyed fish and chips from Kings Fish Bar for some time, always excellent. On this occasion we thought we would a selection of some of their Japanese dishes. We had a selection of sushi, they have a wide variety of dishes we concentrated on prawn dishes, they were all excellent, only matched by the service. Not at all what you would expect form a fried fish shop.

Delicious pie and chips with fantastic service. The pies were cooked just right and the chips were flaky on the inside; plus the curry sauce was made up just right. This is definitely one of the highest contender fish and chips shops in town! Highly recommended! Nick and June

Another excellent and delicious sushi order from Kings. There was a small delay finding a delivery driver but the restaurant called to inform me and I was more than happy to wait. My 2nd order in 2 days, I know, it's too nice. Thank you (again)

Used this fish and chip shop for the first time Friday eve before going to cinema with family. Wasn't cheap but what is now a days. What was expensive was pickles, eggs, and onions two each added £5 pound to the bill and they were small. My grandad use to use these. They were very polite helpful and kind went out there way to meet my needs. Will use again they even have a sushi chef selling fresh sushi and all kinds now find that in a chip shop today. Will try that next time.

I am a local, when I noticed this place did Sushi I just had to try it. It was excellent, red tiger prawns, spicy tuna, Alaska and sea weed salad are just some of the dishes I tried. My only criticism is the price on the shop board was lower than the menu in the leaflets. They charged us the price inside the leaflets. The staff are very friendly and the fish chips are very nice too. Don’t tell anyone! I don’t want to queue for too long for my food!

Went here for lunch. Lovely and friendly place. Was nervous ordering sushi at a Fish and Chips place but was not disappointed. The sushi was excellent and I can’t recommend this place enough! It is my go to for any sushi in or around Herne Bay!

I have been going here for over 20 years and not really seen much change in the menu over that time so when I saw they were doing Japanese food I was skeptical but thought I'd give it a go. 100% would recommend, ordered the salmon maki and the takoyaki, the salmon was incredibly fresh and tender and the takoyaki was some of the best I've ever tasted. Seriously, if you ever want Japanese food in the bay, this is the place!! Staff also super friendly, and the shop is the cleanest I have ever seen it. Super impressed with the new management and what they've done with the place!

Ordered some sushi tonight from Kings fish bar and wow! Felt extremely fresh - packed full of flavour. The crispy breadcrumbed prawns are a must! Will definitely be back. Also found out you get 10% off Monday to Thursday which was an added bonus!

We had seen recently this fish bar offering a range of sushi and we just had to try. They have such an extensive range of Japanese food. We ordered the takoyaki, chicken katsu and seafood salad with a melon soda. All items were so delicious, the katsu was perfectly crunchy and the takoyaki melted in the mouth. If youre in herne bay and want something different this is the place!

Have always got my fish and chips from Kings Fish Bar and when we found out there had been a change of ownership were a bit unsure about whether it would be the same. Well I have to say it was just as good, if not better, than before. The fish was a really good size and delicious and the chips were great. Will definitely continue getting my fish and chips from here!

I had the sushi from Kings Fish Bar tonight and it was absolutely delicious! 1000 times better than the places in Canterbury! So happy to finally have some decent Japanese food around here. The fish and chips are also perfect… thank you!

Visiting Herne Bay for a week we came across this chip shop on our first evening as it was near where we were staying. It wasn’t our first choice but we are glad we chose it as it was the nearest meaning we would eat them hot. Myself and husband ate every scrap. We had two cod and a medium chips. We were greedy as really there were too many chips. They were so good we also had them on our last night too and we’re not disappointed.

I’ve been coming to this shop for 6 months or so but over time I have seen the staff get treated worse and worse. The only good thing about the shop is the young girl who usually serves us and chats to us but today she was just taking phone orders and when I asked her why she wasn’t serving she said that the owners want to do it now, this is a bad choice on their part as she made the whole experience nicer and actually chats to customers. Last week I ordered a cod and chips and had to wait 23 minutes on a Thursday when it wasn’t even too busy and today when I went in there they had put the prices up again for the second time in 5 weeks!! It’s safe to say we will not be coming back and not recommending this service to anyone else!

Was the best Fish & Chips in town for years. Since it recently changed hands, absolutely awful. New owners insist on wrapping the fish separately to the chips. Everything undercooked, bland and dripping in oil. 4 people behind the counter and not one person with a clue as to how it was/should be done, probably not their fault as they are following orders. Such a shame. Eaten there twice, (benefit of the doubt) never again. Trust me, avoid...

Best fish and chips I've had in ages. Massive portions, very fresh and a fair price. The staff were very friendly and the only downside was that the bag leaked oil on the way home.

Used last weekend (under new management) and it was the same high standard as previously. Big disappointment though was the 20%:price increase. 2 senior cod & chips up from £11 to £ 13.

Food was cooked to order in good time, good portion sizes. Fish was great, chips were a little dry for my liking... But I must admit I didn't have vinegar on them! No complaints from the rest of the family! Warm and friendly staff. Free on the road parking outside.
