We spent £55 on meat dishes between the two of us and still left hungry unfortunately :( the mains were not as filling as the prices suggest. The staff were nice though! And attentive!

Absolute disgusting I ordered the steak and so did the table next to us I couldn't even cut through the steak it was so tough and then when we asked to speak to someone it took about a good hour before anyone came to see and his attitude was disgusting he couldnt be bothered at all by that time the people opposite us had gone in disgust. And the manager who came to speak.to us wasn't even bothered at all but said it was the finest steak??? Really if that is your attitude I will advise everyone to avoid the steak at all.costs

A pub lunch which had something for all of us. Friendly & smartly dressed staff welcomed us and explained that the downstairs restaurant area was fully booked but we could find somewhere in the bar area instead. Suited us actually and we enjoyed watching all the passers by accompanied by their four legged friends from our table by the window. Our meals were all great, two had sandwiches & 1 Gammon & Chips which was great for a larger appetite. ✅✅✅

The food was good and service prompt as well as pleasant staff. Prices ok considering biggish portion sizes although for drinks a double is charged as 2 singles so a tad expensive. All was great apart from later in the meal they sat on the next table in an enclosed area a scruffy family with a small child allowed to screech and wander / climb around so we left without desert to get away.

Called in for lunch, my wife had beef and ale pie which she enjoyed with mash and veg, I had a lunchtime tuna thick cut sandwich which comes with skinny fries but I upgraded to chunky chips, also ordered side of onion rings, mine arrived with fries so taken back, back it came with chunky chips which were frozen an not homemade, fiver for 6 small frozen onion rings which went cold whilst waiting for chips to come back.....expected better quality for the price I paid, the bread was medium at best and far from thick cut. Will try other places next time in keswick.

I believe in a fair review so here we go… First of all I have visited the Kings Arms Hotel Restaurant many times before and never had a problem, however I felt my recent visit was a let down. Positively, we were greeted and shown to our table quickly. We ordered 2 starters (drunken mushrooms and squid rings) and these were both good portions and very tasty, squid was cooked perfectly. However, then our mains were brought over before our starters had been taken away. No biggie really however staff offered no apology and seemed largely uninterested. The three mains we ordered were the giant yorkshire pudding, chicken skewer and sea bream. The yorkshire pudding was okay, veg looked like it was from a packet and was equally as tasteless. Mash was lumpy and also bland, however the beef was tender. The chicken skewers consisted of 3 small pieces of chicken, 3 pieces of pepper and about a whole onion sliced up. Onion was definitely undercooked and we also suspected the chicken was slightly as it had a stodgy texture. The fries were nice and salad was decent with a nice dressing. The sea bream was disappointing. It also appeared undercooked, and lacked taste. Would have benefited highly from simply being served with a wedge of lemon to add some flavour. The “saffron” mash as advertised contained no saffron whatsoever and was the same lumpy, tasteless mediocre mash served with the yorkshire pudding. The cherry tomatoes were nice, peas fine and chorizo was nice, however there was again an absence of the basil which the meal was advertised as being served with. Although presentation was nice, in my opinion it is pub grub standard food charged at restaurants prices. Food unfortunately did not meet the standard that we are paying for, or that we have experienced years prior. Having worked in a professional kitchen myself i feel like there was a lack of coordination between front and back of house staff.

Poor food and poor service. My wife had the halloumi stack and halloumi was over cooked but still edible. The onions were dry and burnt and completely inedible. When we fed the back, the response was that this is the way that it comes. Well, if that's the case then we won't be coming back.

I don't normally write negative reviews as I prefer to give negative feedback in person, but when I was asked how my meal was, the staff seemed so disinterested, that I felt this medium was the only way of telling the 'powers that be' what I think they need to know. I was not a guest at the hotel and called in for a meal and a pint as the Yorkshire Pudding meal on the menu on the outside board caught my eye. I don't normally baulk at prices, as I genuinely believe in paying for quality, so when I parted with the best part of £25 for one course and a pint, I hoped I would be impressed. sadly not! The meat was tasty and tender, and the veg was nice and crispy, but there it ends. The Yorkshire pudding was about an inch thick, claggy and almost inedible. Being a Yorkshireman, I know a decent pudding. The portion of mash was minute and there was hardly any gravy provided. Now here is my gripe. I had an operation on my throat recently, and prefer my food quite moist, so I asked for extra gravy. The waitress was noticeably embarrassed to say it was £1.50 for more gravy. I agreed but expected a gravy boat full of the lovely stuff. What arrived was the smallest jug of Bisto gravy I have ever seen. By my calculations, at last Sunday's family lunch, I must have made about £150's worth of gravy! What a rip-off. When I was asked how my meal was, I tried to provide some honest feedback to be told that they don't determine the prices. First and last visit. Avoid, avoid, avoid.

I opted for the Cumberland sausage ring with mustard mash and onion gravy at £17. Tiny portion of mash with the sausage ring on top, no veg included, that was an extra fiver!! My wife opted for the steak and ale pie, which to be fair was nice, but at £18.50 you’d hope so too… The veg was served separately in a tiny pot, the peas were practically like bullets…. Staff were friendly that served us but wouldn’t go back again, for too expensive for what you get.

I visited for breakfast on a Sunday morning. They clearly have one standard for hotel guests and one for walks-ins. Two different menus - when I looked at the hotel guest menu it was taken from my hands. I also had to wait more than 30 minutes for my meal to arrive and only then after asking the waitress. Others around me who arrived much later were getting their meals in a timely fashion. The excuse I was given was they have a large group of hotel residents this morning. They obviously prioritize these guests over walk ins. If that is the case it should be advertised. As a result of complaining I did get a discount on my bill but it did not compensate for my plans for the day being delayed.

My visit to King's Arms in Keswick was nothing short of exceptional! The culinary experience was truly outstanding, with the slow-braised pork cheeks leaving me utterly delighted with their explosion of flavors. The impeccable service made me feel valued as a customer, enhancing the overall enjoyment. Opting to dine at the bar provided a perfect atmosphere that even welcomed our furry friend. Our friends who joined us also had a wonderful time. Personally, I savoured a perfectly cooked steak as my main course, adding to the culinary delight. Without a doubt, this dining experience earns a resounding 5-star rating!

Kings Arms is a restaurant and a hotel.located in the center of Keswick, a town in Lakes District National Park, in the North of England. We came here to have dinner traditional food, but also modern English food. I choose whipped creamery goat's cheese with IPA beer paint as first dish, traditional beef Pai with a Gold paint as main dish and English pudding with Baileys as dessert. All very good and the place was very comfortable and the staff very friendly.

Visited yesterday at lunch time and will not be back. As we entered the restaurant, we were told to sit down at a table by a waiter, however as we went to sit down we noticed there was only one chair. A member of staff pointed out to the waiter that it only had one chair and we were left standing there for 5 minutes until a different member of staff asked us if we were okay to which I explained about the chair situation. We were given menus to look through and then waited a further 15 minutes before our order was taken despite several members of staff walking by. When ordering, we were surprised that the pie does not come with gravy and it is an extra £1.50?! We then waited a further ten minutes for a member of staff to come back and tell us that they did not have the drink we ordered so we then reordered something else. The wait for food was roughly 45-60 minutes which was absolutely ridiculous considering there was only about 5-8 tables in the whole restaurant. It was clear everyone was getting as fed up as we were as two tables around us asked how much longer they would have to wait for their food. When the food finally arrived, it arrived wrong 😑. This place is seriously lacking in customer service skills and is pricey! £38 for two ciders, a tuna mayonnaise sandwich and a pie. Won’t return.

Looked like a great place, ambience lovely. No service, we literally had to stop a waiter to get drinks and order. Meal took 40 minutes to arrive, but we understood they were busy. Food arrived, we ordered the famous chicken bacon pie, so full off herbs I couldnt eat it, vegetables were frozen bag stuff that had been sitting in hot water for hours, I waited for a waiter to take away and was happy to order dessert but no one came, did mention on paying the meal was awful, just no response. Note: I am a fussy with food but also expect some quality when paying £50 for two meals and 2 cokes.

Usually a regular for us when in Keswick..every month, however since the refurbishment & the poor staff having to dress like they are working in in The Ritz it's lost the ambience & lovely atmosphere. A few others who were in at the same time agreed . Food prices ridiculous, same meal in pub of same brewery almost £5 cheaper We also went to the sports bar to the rear of the Kings Arms..Casas which is also ran by them. Lovely lad behind the bar, very helpful & busy. However the manager from pub came in & reprimanded him for sitting down - nobody was at bar ! Same name as before refurbishment however seems like a different place altogether. Even the dogs weren't comfortable!

Called in just after reopening as we were so looking forward to reacquainting ourselves with the good honest pub that the Kings Arms was. Terribly disappointed. When we walked in every table was stacked with used glasses which should have been a warning sign. We stood at the bar for a good 5 minutes waiting for a member of staff to appear. There was a chap in a suit running around looking terribly harassed. When we got served the wine was warm as it turned out the fridge didn’t work but no one had told the young lady who served us. Then the 40th anniversary beer was rank, some serious looking at the way it is being served and stored required. Really disappointing as we had been looking forward to returning after the refit. On the positive we thought the refit looked great but we ate elsewhere and won’t be returning in a hurry.

The Kings Arms has a range of seating areas. There are some arm chairs to chill in, some standard pub seats with tables to dine at. There are some high stools with tables as well. The food is varied and reasonably priced. We shared the soup and a sandwich deal which was very good. The jacket potatoes are yummy. We enjoyed the atmosphere which seemed to be a mix of regulars and visitors. They were short staffed and took an hour to clear the plates and glasses away which was the only fly in the ointment. The loos are upstairs. We thoroughly recommend this pub.

When you check the prices of the food from the main menu it would be cheaper than what they are making from the scheme, so they are corrupt and its despicable.

Even midweek in September most restaurants in Keswick are full. Luckily we found a table in the bar as the restaurant area was already full. Simply pick your table and order food at the bar. We both had Black Pudding Stack starters followed by Steak and Ale Pie, washed down by a pint of Jennings bitter.

Only had a couple of drinks in here it smelled a bit damp to be honest. There are better pubs in the vicinity.

This could have been down to it being a hot day but during our meal last week the flies were intolerable.

Fabulous food and a lovely place. Highly recommend the Fish platter but be prepared, it's a very generous platter! We visited twice as it was so good couldn't get in the third time unfortunately as they were fully booked. Even our labrador was welcomed and was given lots of biscuits by the lovely staff.

Este pub y restaurante sirve buena comida inglesa. Bastante grande interior, pero sigue siendo un servicio muy rápido y bueno. La comida es de calidad media pero bastante barata. Algunos platos originales para elegir también.

On arrival we requested a table for six which we were told they would no cater for however, after asking for a table of two and four with separate bills they allowed us to eat in the restaurant, however they were very hesitant and did not want to cater for a group of six people. Upon ordering we were told the roasts for the day were pork and beef and that is the only information we were provided with, on the understanding all meals were the same with only a change in meat. Oh weren't we wrong! Three of us had pork two had beef and one had pie. When the meals came to the table the three with pork were highly disappointed with what was put in front of them. A few slices of pork, two roast potatoes, stuffing and a little bit veg. The difference between the quality of the beef dinner which included a large Yorkshire pudding and mashed potato was unbelievable and for almost £13 each for the meal, it was an absolute disgrace. When we mentioned the disappointment of the food to the staff she explained that the board which was not pointed out and was hidden at the back of the restaurant explained this, however, as we are not from the area and had never been before we did not know any of this. She said that she was happy to bring some extra mashed potato and Yorkshire puddings out since we weren't happy, but we would have to pay extra, which we declined to pay extra for. At the end of the meal which none of us ate very much of we complained and the staff continued to ignore us until they cleared the table. The staff were very rude and did not deal with the situation well. After paying £100 for a meal for six which was disappointing we requested to speak to the manager. After explaining the situation to the manager he was very defensive and did not like what he was hearing and was also very rude towards us. After finally getting through to him he offered us a 10% refund and walked back into the restaurant, after following him to receive the refund we were asked to leave and told the manager was not giving us the refund that he originally said he would. The service in this restaurant was diabolical and it is evident that the staff clearly do not care about whether their customers are happy or not. I would not advise anyone to visit this restaurant if they do go into keswick!

Our second visit and it was epic, yet again! Lovely staff and amazing pies. Be prepared to wait a little longer than expected after ordering but the food is definitely worth the wait! Cannot recommend enough for the price, size of portions and lovely, friendly service. 5* to all of the staff working the evening of the 25th May :)

El personal super amable que amablemente nos apretó en una mesa a pesar de estar reservado. A mi marido le encantó el pastel de pollo y jamón, mi hamburguesa estaba un poco hecha pero la buena música lo compensó.

We ate dinner in the restaurant on a Saturday evening and the place was packed. Booking a table recommended. The speed of service was quite reaonable considering how busy they were. Food well prepared and presented. The waiting staff were polite and efficient.

The pub it’s self is nothing special. Just a pub! We had a couple of drinks as the food area was busy. Once it was quieter we sat down to eat. We both had Steak and Ale pie. It was amazing. The sort of food you have to eat it all even though you are full.

Stayed Friday 29th and Sat 30th March 2019. We had a room at the top facing the square however the bed was against the window so the only way to see the square was to climb up on the bed and look out. The room is narrow and every bit of space has been used to provide storage but due to lack of space to get a access to the wardrobe you have to move the chair then put it back each time as there's no free floor space. Toilet has a shower which is very noisy to use. Tea and coffee facilities in the room and housekeeping was done early which suited us. Reception and bar staff were not rude but not hugely welcoming. The girls in the restaurant at breakfast were a breath of fresh air and couldn't do enough for us. Breakfast was good with plenty of choice. We had food in the bar on the Friday night which was lovely and large portions. It's a relaxed but busy pub with families and dogs and many locals use it. £4 for 24hr parking at the back of the hotel with a short walk to the front door. If you have any problems with stairs I wouldn't book here as it's an old building with original staircases some of which are spiral and very narrow.

We stayed here for 2 nights and I cannot recommend this place highly enough. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming. The rooms are large, bright with some spectacular views and those special touches such as little toiletries for your use. The bath in our room was so opulent I could have stayed in there all evening. The dining area is quite niche you can have quiet discreet corners for a romantic evening or more open. The food is excellent- if I had 1 thing to say that was negative, it would be that I wouldn’t have a starter so I could have a dessert, I found each time I did I just didn’t have room to have one! The main thing for me was the staff. The staff quite simply made it for me. NOTHING was too much trouble, they were friendly, welcoming and went above and beyond , yet at the same time let us be. If you want somewhere, where you can be comfortable, away from it all and have excellent accommodation and food this is the place.

Sad to say that our trip there was a a big disappointment when it come to the food. We all had beef, it was dry and chewy. When we talked to the waiter, we have been told that is the way the chef does it. It is a shame that they only sell well done cuts of meat...

My friend and I called in here whilst in Wigton and had a bacon buttie and a barista butties both of which were delicious and cooked perfectly. I had a latte which was lovely and my friendcsaid her cappuccino was one if the vest she'd had. The staff were so helpful and friendly and we will definitely return.

Since discovering this little gem we no longer visit the area without popping in. The chocolate twists are generously sized, nice and buttery, and the coffee is divine. The staff are more than happy to cater to all my awkward needs and questions with a smile - nothing is too much trouble!
