Expensive - whilst food was tasteful it was lacking in what we paid for - what was provided was basic had to ask for extra such as vegetables. Small portions not sufficient for the price paid. The expectation of added drinks was not acceptable- none of us appreciated being harassed for extra drinks constantly. Won’t be returning.

MORE AT TripAdvisor

The Kings Arms in Ombersley is essentially a restaurant with a few seating areas at the side for non-diners that must number about ten seats at most. I went into the Kings Arms on a Monday night with family at about 7:30 for a drink, thinking it was a pub. Despite being largely empty there was incredibly nowhere to sit. The only people in there were drinking and not eating so the place was mostly empty - with all the tables being ‘reserved’ for diners (and the chef sat at the bar). The bar staff informed us ‘all the drinking seats have been taken’ in quite an unwelcoming manner, looking at us strangely because we simply wanted a drink - with no suggestion from them that we could maybe sit at of the tables whilst they were empty, or clearing a space to have a couple of drinks, so we left. There are many reports of pubs finding it tough these days, if they are anything like the Kings Arms I’m not surprised in the slightest. Please adjust the signage to say Kings Arms Restaurant.

Lunch in bar area. Nice atmosphere. Liked the look of the armchairs if just drinking. Pleasant service. Malbec was good, but seems odd that by the glass options are small or large - I can't be the only one who favours a medium. I could have asked of course, but settled for a large! Only had main course - tandoori salmon was delicious. Look forward to visiting Ombersley again and trying out the comfy chairs.

Was always one of our reliable go to pubs for good food. It all depends what you are looking for…TKA was a warm welcoming traditional pub with good food. It’s now been decorated and has a more cosmopolitan feel and menu is now more restaurant. There is choice, but all of the same vein. Kids options stereotypical and limited. Felt like they were targeting a very specific audience…not families. Food:Pie was great, onion rings were great, salad was heavy on dressing. Front of house friendly.

The pub is located in the small village of Ombersley. The inside of the pub is quite small so if you are a wheelchair user, please be aware that it is not very easily accessible. We went to the pub for a Sunday roast. I had seen on the website menu that they did pork roast. However, when we arrived it looked as though the menu had been updated and they weren’t actually doing pork… which was disappointing. The food was average. I had the roast beef, sadly I wouldn’t say it was the best cut of meat. The vegetables and Yorkshire pudding that came with it were yummy though.

We came upon this pub by chance after booking the pub next door only to find the heating broke and the restaurant area smelling strongly of oil. Lucky for us the Kings arms managed to fit us in. The decor was beautiful. The pub has been sympathetically restored but felt really cosy and welcoming ( and lovely and warm after our experience next door) There was plenty of choice on the menu and the prices were very good value. I had the calf’s liver which was perfectly cooked and delicious. My friends all had different and all agreed their food was lovely. We saw them bring out fish and chips to another table and the fish was enormous! The service was great and the food was served quickly. We will certainly be returning!

I was first disappointed that there was only 1 disabled blue badge space out of around 50. I had a slow 50m walk to pub. The starter was tasty but not a lot of it. The roast beef was good quality, well cooked but again just 2 thin slices. The accompanying veg was good but the extra gravy was very thin and I would suspect packet derived. Had any member of staff asked how the meal was during the meal (and not afterwards) I would have asked for extra meat ( even if I had to pay) but no one enquired. Overall not a brilliant experience which we will not be repeating.

On the recommendation of my family, I went here with my girlfriend on the evening of Saturday January 20th. Was a posh, smart looking place, but also with a casual, cozy feel which suited us perfectly. The menu was well thought out, beautifully crafted, and original. Both of us were impressed with the quality of our meals (the crunchy tasting calves liver was my particular highlight), and the unknown soup/pie of the day added some mystery and something different. But the most impressive aspect was the waiter/manager charging me nothing for my rice pudding to atone for accidentally forgetting my cheese sauce earlier on. Most would have charged full price for my dessert, or knocked off the £2.50 (price of the sauce) off the total, so was pleasantly shocked when he made this gesture. (NOTE: Don’t expect this to happen every time. I am just one person describing my first visit to the place). I give the place, food and staff top marks, and we will definitely be back for more.

Tried different foods each time - have not been disappointed. Seabass particularly good. Lovely wines. Masses of attention to detal - including food presentation, and even the crockery is beautiful. Just the right balance of smart and casual - feels a treat to be there but not remotely stuffy. Highly recommended. Going to try the Sunday roast next!

Rather stupidly mistook this beautifully decorated establishment with a bar and drinks for a pub! Asked if we could sit at the tables (there were plenty) just for a drink and were told they’d been set for diners and no real alternative options. You are either drinks or food it seems and we were feckless drinks only! We found a settle in the corner then proceeded to try and order a drink- person at the bar was gazing over us at the rest of the pub and managed to pour us a Guinness that we hadn’t ordered “it was a Guinness wasn’t it?” Nope! She did ask if we were dining with them though 😉 We drank our expensive drinks whilst three waiting staff took their breaks of food nearby, one sat at a made up table! Very strange and unwelcoming feel so won’t be back and will reprimand ourselves for not going to the Crown and Sandys- always a welcome there, you can use reserved tables for a drink and I’ve never seen staff eating in the pub! Such a shame!

Having tried all the other restaurants in Ombersley we were anxious to sample the newly refurbished Kings Arms. Our table of 4 for lunch was in a corner by the kitchen door which didn't suffer from the draughts or bar customer proximity mentioned by other reviewers. The new menu looks really exciting and our starters of soup, tempora fish and Scotch egg were really good and our mains were at the better end of pub grub. The experience fell apart by the mediocre service. Our waiter seemed rather disinterested and we had to ask for the sweets menu having been abandoned for at least 15 minutes. Instead of the menu we got the bill so we had to try again! This may have been a busy lunchtime for them but there is just too much local competition for them to let their guard down. And it's not a cheap lunch - for £40 per head with a soft drink only - it has to be worth it to keep customer loyalty.

We had a lovely Sunday roast here and one of the nicest roast beef dinners we’ve had for a while. It was on the offer 2 courses for £20 or 3 for £26. Having intended to have a dessert, in the end only one of us had one as I was too full. Be AWARE that if you only end up having one course you will still be charged £20. It made it an expensive roast beef dinner even though it was very nice. I have been to many places with similar offers to this and at times have had the price adjusted. We all need to keep businesses running and help out but wasn’t impressed with the attitude.

Starters were average for mains I had beef and my friend had pork, my beef was very well done and being a lover of rare beef and I did say as rare as possible and was told it was medium I did not enjoy it also I had forgotten that they put all the vegetables and roasts on the plate so I had failed to ask for them to be served in a dish. Finally there was very little gravy so I asked if I could have some more which was served in a minuscule jug and amazingly I was charged a £1 for it ( there must have been all of five tablespoons). It’s a pleasant building & pub in the well healed village of Ombersley with a typically wealthy clientele. Staff pleasant enough & the ambience generally pleasant. I’d go for average not good as their burgers are just a reasonably good cut of meet bunged in a bun. Off the top of my head I can think of a dozen plus local places I’ve had a burger where they’ve really gone to town on the extra bits that make the meal. Melted cheese bacon mushroom gherkin tomatoes and salad all stacking up to make a great dish. It often comes with some nice onion rings on the side. Could easily go up a star putting a few more ingredients and a bit more effort into the dish

I offered to buy lunch for a dear old friend, on my birthday, and she agreed to do the driving, six miles north of our Worcester homes and back. Ombersley, of course, is a picturesque and interesting village, and much quieter since its by-pass was built. I did not book a table, but was greeted warmly, and shown to table for two in the "back" room. The food (cheese salad and fishy things and chips, respectively) was good, and reasonably priced; and the staff were attentive, bringing regular refills of Draught Guinness from the bar to the table. Where shall I start on our valentine meal. Took 5 phone calls to leave a deposit as requested. Was told to pre order food. Phoned back with order to be told we didn’t need to pre order. Table changed as ours not ready. Was told to order quick as only 3 Duck left on a limited menu of 4 mains Starter of Camembert was like scrambled egg. Was then informed by staff that it wasn’t fit for consumption but they still served it. Duck mains was sent out on mash and should have been dauphinois. They had run out and didn’t inform us. It was only 8 clock. Was even more appalled when a local came over and was confrontational to my husband for complaining about our food. On the pubs behalf he said he was a local but I wouldn’t be sure as I don’t think any pub would have this kind of idiot as a regular. His behaviour was even more disgusting as being let down by our spoilt evening. It was our first visit to this pub and we will never go back again.

Very casual surroundings, which I like and just one criticism. My pudding was served in a Jar/Jug type affair which rather surprised me. It was perfectly nice, but a gimmicky, rather tacky offering and perhaps reserved for children and not adults in a different venue? On our recommendation took a couple here for dinner. Table booked for 8-00 arrived 8-05. As we were ordering food about 8-30 we were told there would be a 15 -.20. min wait. Which we were ok about. A few minutes later we were told it would now be 35 mins. It was now approaching 9pm and I said it will have to be as where else are we going to get a table on a Saturday night at 9pm. The meal arrived at around 9-30and was unfortunately disappointing for 3 of us who had ordered plaice. We found it very difficult to lift the bone without it falling apart. When we paid and were asked if everything had been ok we said not really and raised the issue s above especially the delay. We suggested that it would have been of some consolation if we had been offered some nibbles which would have cost them pennies. We spent over 140pounds.The woman at the bar who appeared to be in charge dismissed this suggestion. My point is I appreciate that customers can arrive late and cause a bottleneck but they didn't handle it at all well. I told a friend who has been with us previously and he asked didn't they offer us some drinks on the house. Which has happened occasionally. Anyway we won't be returning as will several other couples.

Visited here for Sunday Lunch on Mothering Sunday, Pros were the friendly staff, good ambience and food was quite good especially the starters. We both had prawn and crab cocktail which was very tasty and the bread served with it very fresh. I had lamb and my friend had beef, both were very tender but the whole meal could have been much hotter because by the time we got to the end it was quite cold. My gripe was that the vegetables should have been served separately in another dish and not plated up in the kitchen. I was told that I could have asked for this but on this occasion I would have expected the veg to have been served separately without having to ask for it, considering that the other two pubs in Ombersley do this automatically.. As well as this the meal was very rushed for example the mains came extremely quickly after the starters so that the whole experiece was less than an hour

my husband decided to take me out for lunch on valentines day and he decided to take me to the place we had gone the night before we got married 24 years ago we had a very pleasant lunch but for the one meals meat being a little tough. However the staff did every thing they could to put this right and did make amends, my only criticism is we were not served or dealt with by one member of staff so it was a little disjointed in service and this meant we were unable to leave a "tip" for our service staff.

First visit today & certainly will not be our last. The inside of the pub is a lovely old black & white pub with roaring fires. The staff are friendly and very helpful. Food was very good with a good choice. Have to say the brownie & cherry trifle was delightful. A very extensive gin menu for those of us who like a gin or two. Would definitely come back especially as we now have a loyalty card too. What a great idea

Our first visit here and not our last, loved the cosy feel of this ancient timbered pub with roaring fires and oak beams. We had a very enjoyable lunch, hearty well cooked food combined with a great selection of ales. Smiley friendly staff too.

Visited with a group and decided to try the Turkey Xmas Dinner. First time I've ever had a Turkey Dinner without Roast Potatoes, Ordinary Potatoes or Pigs in Blankets. The two slices of Turkey with Mash was an unusual combination and not one that I'd be in a hurry to try again.

Five of us went to celebrate our son's birthday and had an excellent meal. The cask ale (couldn't sample it myself being the driver), was very good I was told and the other drinks were fine. A little pricey, but top marks for the main courses and desserts. Service was also excellent and we were not kept waiting very long. Ask for a loyalty card, there are some very useful rewards.

This was our second visit in so many months and to say we loved it is an understatement, we have visited for Sunday lunch and evening dinner and they were both amazing, the staff are fantastic and cannot do enough for you. The menu is varied and very nice, cannot recommend enough especially Sunday lunch. The old country pub atmosphere only adds to how wonderful this place is and will definitely be returning ✅

The pub is off the main track and we found it by accident (lost actually). The welcome was friendly and warm and the selection of beers and wine every good. We were able to sit outside and enjoy the last rays of the sunshine while choosing from the extensive menu. There didn't seem to be table service but it was a short walk to the bar. Food was excellent, a real jump up from what I would call pub food. Definitely restaurant quality,

We have eaten here before but tonight the meal represented very poor value. I wanted just the scampi and the waitress said it finished at 7 so at 18.59 I was still in time to order as it was on the -£14.00 for two courses I asked if I could s have it as one course and she said I could so when we were charged £14.00 for one course I queried it's em the bill arrived and the waiter said it was part of the two course deal so £14.00 for just scampi is a rip off!

This was our first visit here and was recommended by a friend when advised I was looking for somewhere for lunch for a ‘K’ date with my husband. I had booked online for 1345 but we had finished our previous commitment early, so we headed over to see if we might be able to eat earlier than our booking. Although we were an hour early, the staff were able to fit us in albeit not at the previously allocated table as it was still in use. We were given two options of seating and chose the quieter ‘back’ area so we could have a bit of privacy away from families.

The food, the service and the atmosphere are all excellent. But hasn't the King's Arms noticed that the tide has turned against single-use plastic? We were given gin and tonics with a plastic straw and a disposable stirrer. I'm sure most of the pub's clientele are well-informed and environmentally aware and would see it as a positive not to be given plastic. There's a pub in Bristol that uses pasta straws - that's a funky idea! But in fact it's perfectly normal to drink from a glass without the need for a straw. Please ditch the plastic!

A beautiful authentic pub with very polite and friendly staf. Food was amazing! We had soups from sweet potatoes and with chilly peppers, mushroom risotto and a lamb liver. This was the most delicious liver dish I have ever eaten! Soups were just amazing. We definitely will be returning and recommending this place to our friends.

We visited on a sunny Friday evening for a bit to eat with our two children and enjoyed our dinner on the decking area outside. Highly recommend - such a lovely pub with fantastic food and great service. The lemon meringue ice cream and homemade lemon curd which accompanied the baked cheesecake was absolutely delicious! There were several people enjoying a drink and had bought their dogs along, so it’s a great stop off if you’re local and out walking. We will definitely return!

We decided to have a trip out on a very damp Bank Holiday Monday. Lunch was first on the agenda and we went to The Cross Keys but it was not open for lunch and therefore we turned up to The Kings Arms. Most of the tables were reserved but we were given a table that we could have until 2 pm. That was fine. All we needed was a light lunch. I had a really good smoked salmon platter which was accompanied by my favourite Chase Elegant gin with elderflower tonic. Just a lovely light lunch. My friend was happy with the soup and a pot of tea,.

We called into this pub today, a party of eight ,but after being told they were serving food when we asked for a table for eight were told they were too busy to accommodate us,(gentleman behind the bar) quite sharply . Wouldn't recommend this pub go next door to the Crown and Sandys where we enjoyed their excellent food .

This once was our favourite place for a carvery. Booked a table for 24 when we arrived it was for 22 the plastic cover on the carvery defeats a carvery it's ridiculous and slow service we all ate at very different times. Claim it's for hygiene the person serving had some dirty tshirt on and the girl was flicking her hair behind the screen I get it's hot but take the plastic screen down for God sake and let customers help themselves definitely will not be returning as its the 2nd bad time we've had now and it's quite an expensive carvery for the service. Very disappointed our whole table were disappointed. Also why put the sauce at the beginning of a carvery? Have to push back all through the queue to get to sauce
