Extremely, friendly staff, had special's both times, pan fried hake beginning of the week which was cooked to perfection & melt in the mouth pork belly at the end. Sarah the landlady was so welcoming, it was a lovely end to the holiday. Highly recommended.

On our mini break holiday and traveling back from lands end. Stopped to buy some provisions and the pub looked welcoming whilst we were waiting for the fish and chip shop to open. Enjoyed it so much we stayed for a couple more wonderful even excellent pints of Guinness and decided to eat in. I had the special board, liver and bacon with mash and Jules had the fish and chips Both very good and well above what was expected. Lovely friendly welcome and met some interesting people. May pop back again tomorrow if we can.

We recently stayed in St Just for a week of walking. Every day after our walk we ended up drinking and/or eating in this proper old pub. The staff and particularly Harriet the pub dog were all so welcoming. A perfect local pub with great beer and cider.

Such a warm and inviting welcome from Kieth! Sometimes you find people - and Kieth was one of them! He truly made us welcome. We got drawn in by the menu on the door as there was lots of choice, we had a very warm welcome especially our 4 legged friends. On ordering they were on a selected menu due to being out of season, so a little disappointed plus no none alcoholic drinks. We ordered Fish and Chips which was ok. It was nothing special and I probably won't return for food

A dying pub. I know that it's out of season, but really. This used to be a bustling, thriving lovely pub with good food, a well stocked top shelf and a well stocked cellar with beers kept well. But now....most of the bottles on the top shelf are empty and the only cellar products are Guinness and Korev (St Austell lager). The only cider is bottled Magners (which I think were bought in from the local shop) and no beer. I usually visit out of season but this is by far the worst I have ever seen it. I won't bother again and I hope that St Austell brewery do something about it. It's an embarrassment to the St Austell brand.

After a visit to the tin mines and a good walk, food was on my mind. Being a Sunday, it was always difficult to find availability, but the King's Arms was very accommodating. 2 meats on the roast menu, and a great selection of drinks. The food was quick to make and to a good standard and size portion, Yorkshire was slightly burnt but still good, vegetables were very nice. Overall, a very old school cornish pub serving good quality food and drinks.

Been here before and it's been fine but yesterday DISAPOINTING. I ordered the Crab Linguine and my hubby the catch of the day which stated skin on chips. My Linguine looked perfect but I found someone had gone way too heavy handed with the chilli. I wouldn't have been surprised to taste a little heat but the amount in this was ridiculous. I often like hot food but annoyingly this amount smothered the crab. The chef was obviously not tasting the food before it went out. I brought it the staff's attention and they said they'd go and have a word and took my plate away. . Hubby's dish arrived with French Fries rather than skin on chips. We were both hungry so he couldn't be bothered to bring it to their attention as he wanted to eat. Pub had no tartar sauce (think they'd got something else accidentally delivered in it's place). There were wall lights with bulbs out of action. The place just feels sad, like there's no love or thought gone into it. The one good thing was my pint of Proper Job real ale. That was very good. Meanwhile no one appeared with any explanation or apology or suggestion of ordering any other food for me or replacement plate. I was left sitting with nothing. We waited after my husband had finished and eventually had to approach the staff ourselves. All they said was they we're going to take the cost of my meal off the bill. OK I'd expect that, but what rubbish service. Do they think it's ok just to leave a customer without food??? Oh and apparently I should have been told that the Linguine had chilli in it. That may have been so but what they failed to recognise was that I'd have still ordered it but it's inclusion was way too heavy handed and I would still have had to send it back. When we gave them feedback about there being French Fries rather than skin on chips the response was 'they're still potatoes'. That's like ordering an omelette and getting boiled eggs and saying it's still eggs! There were customers in the place but not loads. The Kings Arms has had months to prepare. No excuse for simple things like the bulbs being out. So get your act together. The 2 staff members seemed to be doing their best but the fault is down to whoever runs the place to check that the food is on par and that everything is running ship-shape

We were staying in a holiday cottage in St just and visited the kings arms several times throughout the week. Each time we received a warm welcome with our dog (unlike at some other establishments) and we had three delicious meals during the week. Roast potatoes and Yorkshire puddings were frozen. 1 bowl of vegetables to feed 4 of us, however, the tables of 4 and 3 next to us were given 2 bowls. We were staying In Sennen Cove & found ourselves with nowhere to eat on a Saturday evening. Our hotel was full & other places in Sennen were, shall we say, less than highly recommended. So we decided to strike out along the coastal path to St Just. And what a great idea it turned out to be! Arrived at the Kings Arms and, to be honest, were a bit perturbed by the chain across the door.! However, closer inspection revealed that this was just a Covid control measure. So we rang the bell & were greeted warmly & settled for drinks outside overlooking the marketplace. Had to wait a while for food service, but that was purely down to us arriving between shifts. Sure enough, when food service resumed we got a menu (without asking) & made our choices. Crab salad to start, followed by crab linguine & surf & turf. The crab salad was perfect. Beautifully light, but with plenty of crab meat & a really good dressing. The mains were just amazing. Crab linguine was rich, creamy with plenty of tarragon. As for the surf & turf, you really couldn’t ask for more. A big steak, plenty of prawns, grilled tomatoes, mushrooms, salad & a huge pile of home cooked chips. One of the best meals we’ve had while we’ve been down here. And very friendly, hard working staff. And plenty of Covid control measures in place. Overall, a very, very good experience.

We had lunch here a few days ago and what a lovely surprise it was. An old fashioned, traditional pub, no silly fuss (stand here, don't breathe there etc). Just sat at a table, ordered from the bar and four excellent meals arrived at a very reasonable price. I had an exceedingly generous and well dressed crab salad, my husband had a similar Greek salad and our guests had meat pies and scrummy chips of exceptional quality. Just visited as advertised on Government website as taking part in the eat out to help out scheme, being a family of four really needed to save some money on eating out! Once inside with drinks and food ordered we were then told they are not actually taking part in the scheme as not registered yet (although showing as registered on government website). It was too late for us to leave as we had tickets booked for Minack theatre and would miss the play. So apart from having to pay an extra £40 for our meal we were crammed into very small area where no social distancing is taking place, no face coverings for staff and no track and trace for customers, this is sort of selfish behaviour that causes a lockdown for rest of village! Would not recommend for these reasons!

What a fantastic, welcoming traditional pub! After a dreadful experience at The First and Last, where the manageress would not accept cash and was extremely rude and unfriendly, it was amusing to be told at the Kings Arms that it was cash only as the card machine was broken! There was a quiz nearing the end as we arrived which was a shame as would have been fun. Nonetheless we had a laugh listening to the quiz master who had clearly had a few too many bevvies! Minimal Covid precautions in place, sufficient to keep people safe but maintained a normal, relaxed enjoyable experience. We were so impressed we changed our dinner booking from another pub for the Friday. We were not disappointed. The food was amazing, plentiful and very reasonable. Crab linguine, mussels in chorizo and cider cream sauce and halloumi burger. We will be adding the Kings Arms to our regular haunts for our yearly holiday.

Awful. Went in for a few beers and a bite to eat at lunch but was presented with coal smoke pluming into the pub from the open fire without any acknowledgement that it is toxic to customers. Also, who uses coal in this day and age as opposed to logs? Do you not care for the environment? The bar staff clearly judged us as holiday-makers (even though we’re local) from the offset so made little effort with us. Maybe rethink this considering tourism is your primary income stream! Food looked like it could’ve been a nice choice but the lack of understanding of basic health and safety encouraged us to look elsewhere ASAP! Down the beer then off we went! Sorry St Austell brewery, you need to review what you affiliate your brand with. This needs serious reviewing with your association with the Kings Arms!

This was the first meal out of our holiday and we chose it as the pub looked charming from the outside. Inside it was rather shabby and dismal but the bar staff were welcoming and efficient. What really let it down was the fish and chips we both ordered. It came exceptionally quickly . Highly recommended. The omelette was superb. Much better than expected and the chips were to die for! My friend wasn't impressed with the steak and ale pie, but he did clear his plate! Staff were friendly and accommodating.

We stumbled across St Just on our coastal drive from Sennan. What a lovely market square. The bar staff were terrifically friendly, and we sat out in the market place with some locals who were chatty. The red wine was very reasonable too - which always helps on a sunny Saturday afternoon.

Came here for dinner on our first night in St Just. The pub was quite busy even though we were quite late (kitchen closes at 9pm). The menu was typical pub fayre, with a few specials up on the board, all cooked well. Staff were friendly, and the atmosphere was comfortable. Would recommend.

Decent local real ales, in a low ceilings traditional setting. Good fish and chips, served with mushy peas and choice of condiments and sauces. Chowder nice but perhaps needed some more liquid. Service very polite and efficient. Prices average. You can sit outside at the front viewing the square in good weather.

The lady behind the bar was so hospitable and polite - fantastic customer service which makes a welcome change from a lot of places these days (though I have to say everywhere we went in Cornwall on our hols was really friendly and polite ). We had fish and chips at lunchtime, outside in the sun. The fish was fresh from Newlyn an hour previously :) and tasted fabulous. Lovely light batter and not too big a portion. The chips and mushy peas were really delicious too. The daily specials looked lovely, and included fresh, local fish. Wished we had time to go back for an evening meal - but we will next year!

Lovely traditional pub but disappointed by food. Chips were reheated, vegetables were insipid and salad garnish was 'crisp' due to rigamortis. to be fair steak was cooked as ordered but the rest of the meal was sub-standard. Oh and the treacle tart had been microwaved and was of a rubber consistency. Great shame as beer and general experience was great, my dog thought the team were lovely too. Can't recall upsetting the cook but must have done so in a previous life!

A very modest ordinary pub, Though could not recommend highly enough We were very lucky to be here for their live music on a Tuesday evening, friendly and kind service. This place exceeded our expectations for our one evening out in this charming village.

There are no less than three public houses located around the village square and we chose the Kings Arms because it was a St Austell House and looked friendly. Indeed the interior was cozy and welcoming. There was a choice of only two real ales and the prices were normal for the area. The beer was in good condition. The pub is dog friendly and on a cool day there was a roaring fire. The food was typical pub fare and prices were average for such establishments in the 21st century. Overall it was a pleasant experience and a very good rating would be fair..

We used to love popping in here when we were in Truro, you would be lucky to get a seat but now it’s take your pick. In a nutshell the place has lost its soul.

Festive Afternoon Tea this afternoon was very disappointing. It is clearly a stop gap to keep income trickling in between Sunday lunch and evening dinner service. The biggest issue is with the service, very inattentive, unconcerned staff not in the slightest bit interested in providing a professional level of attention. The afternoon tea was acceptable but not exactly delightful let alone memorable or to be recommend to others. Delightful setting with the hotel beautifully appointed and well decorated for Christmas, just a pity the staff were not switched on at all. Management at fault and it would appear no investment made in staff training.
