Delicious, unique menu with excellent service. Excellent seafood thali, fair prices and a complementary desert. Yummy. Mahi was wonderful, very knowledgeable of the menu and recommended dishes that we were all very happy with.

If you love curries and fish it's well worth trying! For mains we had Meen Porichathu, Kayal Fish Curry and a Fish Biryani wrapped in a banana leaf - all were full of flavour and really tasty. Lovely original decor too very relaxing and cosy....

Had a birthday meal here for 6 people. Diet varied between us, some vegetarians and some having food allergies & intolerances. Happy to say everyone enjoyed their scrumptious meal. Service was brilliant, attentive yet non-invasive. Tip: the Appoms were awesome, not so much the chapattis.

Not your usual run of the mill Indian restaurant but fascinating food which needs guidance to help you choose your meal. Lovely spicy flavoursome food which raises Indian cuisine to a higher plane.

The food here is wonderful. The portions are large. The food is from a different region of India so a quite different from a your average curry. It is absolutely gorgeous.

Recommended visit but bit disappointed. Breads looked amazing but not as good as naan! Food was okay but couldn't rave about it.

Second visit, second full set of five stars. Tried a different set of dishes this time and all were as good as before. Breads are splendid accompaniments to excellent main courses. Starters delicious and generous portions.

I think this restuarant is actually called Kayal. It serves food from the south-west region of India called Kerala. Fabulous! I love the variety if dishes, the prawn curry, dosas, apoam, an tamarind rice are my favourites. Keralan food is naturally low in turmaric, lowish on chilli, have a multi-layered and complex use of spices, and often gluten-free.Negatives; no parking, dishes can be heavy on coconut, 2 dishes that come with the dosa are essentially shredded coconut. Don't order the poppadoms, they are a rock solid a concretecand look more like waffles. Indian cuisine desserts are not rwally worth bothering with.

Excellent business lunch which doesn't stint on the portions - the dosas have to be seen to be believed and the subtlety of the spicing makes for a delightfully authentic experience. The vegetarian options are very creative.

My hubby to be, had a day shopping this weekend. We actually called for a drink at first due to the beautiful weather, we've had this weekend was shinning on the out door seating area. We went shopping then called back, the service wad brilliant. Staff friendly and polite. Our server was Jithu. He happily helpped us pick a starting ecplaining the dish. We had three starts to share. Was lovely. Chicken puffs were like a sausage roll but 10 times better.

Southern Indian food at its best outside of Kerala (India). Being so close to Leicester it is hard to find good authentic Indian food in Nottingham with such stiff competition down the road. This restaurant serves fresh and very authentic food. Great place for lunch and dinner, good choice of Indian beers and great staff. Try the Thali if you dare but don't eat for several hours before you go. I had the vegetarian Thali and the price was too cheap, I felt I should have paid more for such excellent food.

My husband and I ate here with friends, we found the waiters very helpful, atmosphere lively and had a very enjoyable evening. The choice of food is excellent and each dish was quite different to anything else we had eaten before. All food was cooked to perfection but the dish we liked most was the sea bass, it looked and tasted amazing. We will definately be going back soon.

Eaten here several times, food is superb very different to a typical Indian, lighter less slop. Staff are really helpful and it's a reasonable price. Love it

I ate here with a friend who had visited previously and we had a really enjoyable evening and great meal. The menu and style of cuisine is very different from many of the traditional "Indian" restaurants, and the spicing and flavours appreciably distinct. We shared a massive dosa started as well as a spiced chicken dish, and then I tackled an amazing crab curry (Njandu) - complete crab still in shell. Maybe not the easiest (or most elegant) thing to eat, and quite difficult to dissect as covered in a lovely sauce and quite hot. Still, I persevered and it was well worth it. The sauce was rich and delicious. My friend had the Ammachi Pidiyum Khoziyum, a spiced chicken dish served with rice dumplings. Both massive portions, and really delicious. The atmosphere in the restaurant was really good and the service attentive, without being bothersome. I really enjoyed the evening and would recommend this to anyone. There are also branches of this restaurant in Leicester and Leamington Spa, as well (I believe) a new one in West Byfleet.. The name of the establishment is actually Kayal.

This is the 2nd visit to this restaurant. Excellent food, staff very welcoming and always asking if anything else is needed and everything ok.Had great meal. We all ordered dosas for a starter and wow we were all amazed how huge they were and so delicious we had no problems eating and the mains were amazing. highly recomment the sea bass dish delicious.Would definately be visiting again

This restaurant is actually called Keyal and has won some serious awards including one from The Guardian. It serves typical Keralan cuisine which if you don't know it includes delicate, light dosa breads, delicately flavoured curries with mustard seeds and curry leaves and coconut chutneys. The Lassis are also fantastic. I had a thali or express lunch which was ready in minutes and was a bowl of rice and a dosa withe 2 chutneys, dhal, a veg masala, a potato dish and an okra dish. All beautifully flavoured and served.

The service was fantastic and the food was such an interesting variety, unlike your typical Indian restaurant. My husband and I are veggies, and we went with two non-veggies and there was plenty for everyone to choose from. Will be back here, and highly recommend!
