Kens Kebabs & Speedy Pizza in Portsmouth

Absolutely disgusting food. The chicken was soo over fried that the chicken meat itself was beyond dry. The chicken coats was not crispy it was just hard. When ordering the man did not know what he was speaking about. When packing he dropped the box picked it up walked round the place they store the chicken and kept using the same box. Everything was absolutely drenched in oil the chicken was discoloured as if it had been sat out for hours.there was no seasoning whatsoever and I ended up throwing away the entire bag. Most regretful £15 I’ve ever spent. I do not reccomend this place to anyone. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!

This is my second review for Kens. 6 years ago I visited and left one star after the horrendous food I was severed. Yesterday I attended at 3am on a Sunday morning as I had just finished an exhausting shift without any food and Ken's was the only place open I could find. Two staff members were inside and cleaning the kitchen and the sitting area, as I entered I was greeted and go be honest I thought they were going to say they're closed but with a smile the sever said "have whatever you want" I ordered a mega meal deal which includes a chicken fillet burger, chips, chicken strips, hot wings and a piece of chicken plus a can of drink for £9. Good deal right. Ordering this at 3am on a Sunday felt like a rude thing to do but I was starving hungry and they happily had the whole order ready for me in 10mins. The chips were genuinely 10/10, and everything else was as you expected, not Incredible but definitely hit the spot. May I emphasise the place was spotless, the stainless steel in the kitchen was shinny clean and the floors not a rouge chip in sight. I think Kens has genuinely improved for the better and I think everyone who used to avoid it by a mile should maybe give it one more chance. My 1 star review was in 2018, you can make a lot of changes in 6 years, I think Kens is an example of that.

I have only given one star as that is the minimum you can give. Only one member of staff speaking broken English , i asked for a piri piri wrap and he had to check the freezer first to see if it was available. I shouldn't have bothered , I ended up with three tiny pieces of chicken in the smallest wrap i have ever seen with a paltry amount of salad , totally tasteless and certainly not worth £8.50 . My partner had a three piece chicken meal , tough as old boots and greasier than an oil rig . The only saving grace was the chips that were cooked fresh , but then we added vinegar from the only bottle in the shop which stripped my nasal passages and almost knocked me over , definitely wasn't malt vinegar or what came in the original bottle. I would not recommend my worst enemy to dine at this establishment , i won't call it a restaurant as that is an accolade it does not deserve.

Worst kebab I've ever had, ordered a large and it was tiny and it was £10! Flavourless and sauces were underwhelming. My friends chicken was rock hard like it had been left under the heat lamp for hours, and chips were soggy and undercooked

The kebab and chips actually tasted quite nice. However, I paid for an extra large kebab and the serving they gave only half filled the box - in any other takeaway, this would be classed as small - it was literally a handful of chips and a few shavings (5 or so strips) of doner meat. Basically I was ripped off - and they didn't want to know after I had paid my money. :( There's so many better places than this to buy from - the queues in the other places are there for a reason!

I ordered a kebab pizza and it came without any kebab on it????

Delivery man did not read my note about how to find my flat and rang me asking me to come outside in the dark.

Basic food but good. The kebabs are the best there.

I stumbled in here after a heavy day and night of drinking. The fried chicken and chips certainly hit the spot and I’m sure helped lessen the next day’s hangover. Being late at night it was their busiest time and the chicken and chips were freshly cooked and ready to go. Tasted good to me and just what you need after about 15 pints of lager.

Without doubt the worst chicken nuggets I've ever had. The chicken is a paste inside a soft outside, with all the flavour of cardboard. I'm not sure there is any seasoning applied anywhere. I bought 10, and left 9. The Hawaiian pizza was saved only by the cheese on it, but didn't have enough tomato paste and they have obviously managed to procure some "mild" pineapple given its lack of flavour - something I've never encountered before. The chips weren't terrible.

Ordered 2 chicken burgers. Both were refried and hard. After ordering we noticed one of the guys cleaning, but he was barefoot and standing on the counters. Very odd and probably not very sanitary

Server did not wash hands whilst handling food and coughing up his lungs. Also had AirPods in, poor customer service and felt ill the next day.

Just about the worst burger joint I've ever had the displeasure of visiting, and I eat anything normally. Customer service was poor, even speed of service was below standard. Please be warned who ever is reading this, the chicken used is old, I don't know how old, but its a muddy grey colour and 2 days later I am still having stomach issues. Chicken burger is grey and tastes like pure oil and has been refried as other reviews have said. Same with the chicken strips. Chips were also refried. This isn't just my opinion, 9 of us had cycled from London and wanted to grab a bite to eat before leaving for home. Now imagine 9 hungry cyclists after cycling 90 odd miles, we would have eaten anything and been happy with it, but we couldnt finish it and we all commented on how bad the food was. Oily and refried. This place might be alright for the local drunk louts who haven't got two braincells left to notice theyre practically eating rat meat, but for normal humans this 'food' is shockingly bad. Untill they change their staff or their practices, beware. Trust the reviews, unlike me!!! Or go there as a dare.

Absolutely terrible food, i genuinely think that this could be the worst chicken shish I've ever eaten. Some of the chicken tasted like a dog toy had accidentally been used and the salad was like something you'd find in the bottom of a fridge that you'd forgotten about. And how can mayonnaise taste so watery?? Very sad as it used to be decent food.

Great selection of food on the menu but only few items were available when I ordered which was a disappointment. Place itself is nice with good seating arrangements. Food taste was okay nothing special. Fried chicken was way too oily.

I received the complete wrong order I ordered a pizza and garlic bread and for chicken nuggets and chip and chicken burger 😂 I was so hungry after waiting an hour for food that I just ate it and didn’t even get in contact with the store as I wasn’t waiting another hour

A bit of a mix up! Turns out that there are more than one Ken’s yet all order collections are told to go to only one, the wrong one. The chap who I spoke with in the wrong takeaway was quite rightly annoyed as this happens quite regularly. The pizza was greasy as anything, not worth £15.99. The best thing was the soft cheese filled pepper poppers. Sorry, but won’t be using this Ken’s or any other of that name anytime soon.

The WORST KEBAB I've EVER HAD!!!! bread was hard Kebab was nothing like I've ever tasted before!! and was a kids portion. I asked for extra salad and got NO salad at all. Customer service skills were below ZERO!!! He couldn't understand me he hardly spoke any English and his attitude was awful. I couldn't even eat the food i wouldn't even try and feed it to a pet dog. The place need's to be SHUT DOWN FOR GOOD!!!!

this is the worst place for a kebab ever !!! The chicken wings were over priced and dry and small more like sandy sparrow wings. My girlfriend ordered a small doner kebab with extra salad and didn't get any salad at all and only a strand of doner meat. I ordered a large doner the meat looked and tasted like it had been dug out of the bin. The faded signs that you could hardly read seating that was ready for the skip. And the staff in their was moody and rude and looked like they had exchanged their brains for a cabbage. Avoid this place at all costs be warned dont go here i will be reporting this place as totally unacceptable.

We attended to buy food on a Saturday morning about 1am, at this time it wasn't busy and the customer service was absolutely disgraceful. It was like it was an effort to be serving a customer, also with very broken English and nothing but bad attitude. When I was served my food i was not given the option of what i would like in my wrap but instead just put mayo and lettuce inside when i didnt want that. The food wasn't fresh and the bread and chicken was dry, also the chicken was pink in the middle and not cooked properly!! Security guards just sat around on there phones and litter was everywhere with unclean and untidy tables. Definitely won't be eating here again.

Guy tried to overcharge me by charging me both for a meal and then the items in the meal individually. I guess he thought I was more drunk than I actually was (although you do need to have had too many to decide to eat here). Unsure who was more unhappy about being there out of me and the staff. Food would likely taste the same after being digested and re-eaten.. Couldn't find Ken, I did ask.

I was reading reviews for this place and I thought "Surely it can't be that bad". So I decided to give Ken a chance. To let his delightful food fill my empty stomach with joy. To be enlightened by the glorious tastes. I couldn't wait to try. The food in the signs looked so appetising. The faded imagery and signs that looked like they hadn't been replaced in years was a fantastic indicator for the wonderful tastes that I would never forget. However, I was to be disappointed. The staff member looked about as miserable as if he were attending his mother's funeral. And the minimum £5 charge for paying with card was slightly irritating. The seating inside was falling apart and the menu boards looked as broken and old as if they were in a zombie apocalypse movie. I ordered the cheese and pineapple burger. However I needed to order fries as well to make the order £5. My girlfriend ordered the chicken doner kebab. What ensued was probably one of the worst eating experiences of my life. The chips were as soft as rubber and tasteless. They were also cold and I had to go home to warm them in the microwave and add salt to make them edible. Having to cook your own food from a takeway is never exactly a promising sign. I never knew that Ken's had a "cook it yourself" option! I was also sorely disappointed by the lack of pineapple in my "pineapple" burger. We must be having a pineapple shortage right now. I trust Ken's judgement as he is omnipotent after all, so I let it slide. I love the trick they use to make ketchup last longer. Adding water to ketchup to make it last longer is the idea of a genius. It must've been a ratio of 1:1 water to ketchup, which I find impressive. However it had the unfortunate side effect of making my burger as Portsmouth Harbour. The grease certainly didn't help make it any drier and much time was taken afterwards to cleanse my fingers from contamination. The chicken doner kebab that my girlfriend ordered wasn't much better. It didn't help that the chicken itself had the consistency of porridge and the flavour of yummy yummy oil. The vegetables were good though, so I give Ken props for that. Although it's not exactly difficult to make cold vegetables taste bad... Afterwards, I felt... violated by Ken. As if I was robbed of my hard earned £5. And this is for the cheap burger. I'm honestly scared to imagine what "Ken's Special Belly-Buster Burger" tastes like for example. I shudder at the thought. In my opinion I would advise to spend your money elsewhere. If you're reading this review, you've been warned. 10/10 would reccomend.

Absolutely vile, I ordered a chicken shish and chicken nuggets and chips for my children. My chicken tasted foul and was pink inside, and the chicken nuggets tasted awful and upon inspection where undercooked. I paid 18.00 for uncooked food. Both me and my children were sick after and have had a tummy ache since. I shall be reporting this establishment. DO NOT EAT HERE UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE ILL

Ken is a good man, he saved my life in the great war of captain Birdeyes frozen chicken, just as the captain was about to freaze me ken jumped in and fried Captain Birds eye. The probblem is however ken got too greedy. He fried and he fried, incident little chickens lives and then took over Portsmouth with his chicken shops.... These truly are sad times we live in.

I was there yesterday night with some friends, and I wanted to have pie and chips. The guy who was serving me had no idea what pie is, so I pointed it on the menu. Still no idea. That's a shame that your employees have no idea about what you are supposed to sell. On the end I only had some fries, and they were not fresh either.

Waited 15 minutes for food to find the wrong sauce poured all over it. Miraculously a new kebab appeared within 45 seconds with the right sauce! Seemed too good to be true.. it was! Chicken was cold and rubbery, pitta was stale and the cheese still hadn't melted on my chips 20 minutes later. Would not touch again!!!

I bought cheesy chips and beans and chicken meat and when I put my beans on my food they was stone cold like they just got put in tub straight out of the fridge! This ain't on and very disappointed as I always order from here never again though and they call there self's cooks na don't think so!!!
