Absolutely terrible experience. I went with my sister who is highly allergic to mushrooms. We asked for no mushrooms and when the food came it had mushrooms. We took it back and explained and was meet with rudeness and confrontation.

To be honest can’t fault the ciabatta that we had as it was very nice, hot, plenty of filling and very tasty. Service was a bit lacklustre, slow and abrupt despite being quiet. Bought some cannolis as a treat to take home, 8 for around £7. Have to say they were disappointing and stale!

Served by sour faced assistant, ordered bacon sandwich and coffee. Pricy! Coffee was good but waited and waited for sandwich. Had to go back into shop for it to eventually arrive. Coffee long gone. No apology for the wait and no napkin or sauce offered either. Sandwich was not good, chewy, fatty bacon and was toasted which I didn’t ask for. Avoid! Lots of better places in Bury.

I’m disgusted with the ignorance of the staff here. I waited where I was told to wait to order food. Staff looked at me and passed me by to serve others who were stood somewhere else. Tried to get attention but shouting at staff. Ignored. Finally grabbed someone who told me I was in wrong place to order. FFS why tell me to stand where I was then. Won’t be coming in here again. Would rather spend my cash elsewhere.

Not a good experience at the takeaway counter. Poppyseeds in the poppyseed cheesecake so stale the whole thing was inedible. Went in the bin. Beautiful sliced ham on the display, what goes in the bag entirely different. Raggy bits full of gristle and tubes. Been going for years but won't be returning.

My fiance and I visited Katsouris Bury on Wednesday 28/4/21 for lunch. Although the cafe was full we managed to find a table. We ordered two cappuccinos (good price and generous portion). I had the halloumi wrap and my fiance had an omelette with cheese, tomato and mushrooms. The food was really nice and we were surprised by the fact that although people were qeuing to order our food came pretty quickly. Service was surprisingly great, the waitress brought us condiments as we asked for and she was all possitive and helpful despite the busy hours. She even suggested us places to visit in Greece since we consider going some time soon. Thank you Katsouris for the fab food and Ana for the great service. We will surely be back!!! xx

Ordered two breakfast one big and one small for my partner. Anyway the breakfasts came on app area very wasn’t very appetising until I looked closer I took a bite of the bacon and it was absolutely swimming in grease and fat and tasted inedible it wasn’t even cooked and looked like it had been microwaved. I cut one of the sausages open and it was literally rock hard on the outside and touch in the inside like it had been left for ages and reheated under a grill it was absolutely shocking. Me and my partner didn’t eat any of it, it was absolutely shocking and they could seriously make someone ill serving that. I honestly would not give that to a dog. It’s definitely the worst experience I’ve ever had and been had served to me. Just look at the pictures of the bacon and the sausages you will see that it is seriously gross. I even felt sick for a couple of hours and had stomach cramps only from having a bite it tasted really strange and not right. I was very angry after paying £14 for that absoluteMonstrosity the cappuccino I ordered was fine but it’s not hard to get that wrong or bad. But seriously this place need inspecting from the food standards agency they could make someone seriously ill.

If you don't know Bury, this place is an institution. We came at luunchtime and it was very busy, but a table was free so we had coffee and a meze sharing platter for two. It was all good. The service in a bit disorganised - stand in a queue at the counter to order, get given a number and the waiting staff wander around shouting out the order number. But it;s a busy cafe, not the Ritz! I go to Bury Market each year pre-Christmas for a shop as it is one of the best markets in Manchester. When I went today it was very busy and all the cafes were very full. I chose Katsouris as the menu was different and the food on peoples plates looked appetising. Luckily a table came free and we sat down while choosing what to order. i then went to order. There were two or three people in front of me but they were quickly dealt with and our drinks were served immediately and we were given a number to display and told our food order would be brought out. I have to be honest and say it was so busy I expected a bit of a wait but the order arrived, 100% correct in about 5 minutes. It was brought by a smiling waitress and was absolutely delicious (the Sicilian Lamb was my choice). The portions were generous. I would state that the eating area is a bit crowded and a bit of a squeeze but that contributed to the atmosphere of the place. Two of us had a really nice filling lunch with drinks (including wine) for about £20. Would certainly go there again.

The people working in this place should find an alternative career. To describe the people there as rude would be an gross understatement. Stood there like a lemon whilst they just looked at me from behind the counter and walked past me. I just walked out. I have a zero tolerance for any form of bad manners but especially so in this type of service context. Giving it one star sticks in the craw. There are many good cafes in Bury. Made a rare visit to Bury on Sat with my husband, Mum & teenage son, found ourselves in the market area for a late lunch & decided to revisit Katsouris, having eaten here a few years ago. Yes it's pretty chaotic standing in the queue to order & you 're never quite sure whether you're going to get your correct order but somehow they manage it ! My husband enjoyed his half hot turkey & stuffing sandwich, my son loved his halloumi, ham & tomato one, my half hot beef & fried onion was good though the beef was a bit chewy. Unfortunately my Mum's jacket potato with cheese was cold though she didn't mention it at the time as she doesn't like to make a fuss. Her lemon cheesecake was nice as were the lattees, tea & a water, it all came to £23 which we thought was good value for money. We will call again when in the area.

We visit almost weekly and enjoy the food and drink. The sandwiches, soup and meze have never disappointed, and, only very occasionally, have we received warm rather than hot drinks. I was somewhat surprised recently when I found out the plastic cutlery is re-used (I always thought it was an inexpensive, hygienic, disposable product despite the recent furore about plastics / environment). The owner does shout instructions to his staff in front of customers which can be considered inappropriate. Perhaps he needs to brush up on his man management skills. The main issue I have is the tables and condiments.A number of tables are so wobbly that drinks regularly get spilt and there are often a number of serviettes under a leg to try to address the problem. All the condiments are well past their best. The pepper pots have pepper stuck to the sides and appear full even when empty. The tops are battered and dirty, some are blocked because of lack of attention which hasn’t occurred since they were last filled.I think it’s time some of the profits were re-invested in the business for the future.

Natalie is used to be the cafe of choice when visiting Bury. Unfortunately no great improvement. The ordering area is so narrow that you are constantly bumped into by shoppers who hit you with bags, walking sticks and obese bodies. Once you've made your selection the greeting from staff isn't very pleasant or welcoming and they give the impression that you are an emcumbrance rather than a customer. They have no patience, very rude with rolling eyes and muttered comments to colleagues. So much did I feel uncomfortable and put my selection back on the shelves, whereby I was asked 'well, do you still want the coffee?' I said no and walked out. This deli used to be so friendly but now there is no positive thing about it whatsoever. Rude impatient staff, poor access to tills and shelves and bad behaviour by ignorant customers. I know it's a dtopninthe ocean but I certainly won't be back until they get more customer friendly.

Katsouris is a Bury Market institution that I've eaten at several times over the years. In the past the food has been good but not great, but has been the best option in the market for something other than traditional meat and veg or the many variants of meat in a bun that the rest of the market specialises in. It is usually packed on market days but as I was in town on a non market day I thought I'd give it a try. The coffee was fine but the food was terrible - a halloumi wrap swimming in oil with a strange burnt taste (something scraped off the griddle perhaps?) Not cheap by Bury standards either! Certainly the last time that I'll eat there.

Three of us visited Katsouris Bury on 28/9/18 for lunch. The cafe was busy but not full. However, any spare tables were piled high with dirty crockery. The queue to order food was out of the door. It was clear that what staff they had could not cope with the volume of customers. The tables where not cleared or cleaned, so any new customers had nowhere to eat their lunch if they had been lucky enough to get served. The staff appeared to be fed up with the whole situation and it was only 11.45 in the morning. Needless to say after waiting 20 minutes we decided to leave and found a much better organised cafe with lovely food not far away. I will not be returning to Katsouris until they have more helpful staff on hand who can easily cope with the clientele who want to dine there.

The problem here springs from the fact that much of what they offer is only available on market days. Fair enough. But you go up to the counter on a non-market day to order something that is shown as being available every day, only to be told it's only available on market day! I use to visit this place with my grandma when I was a small boy and it was just a Delicatessen. I've been a customer for 30+ years, however, I've not been in for about 6 months. Today, I thought I'd get a couple of cappuccinos and a club sandwich (the only sandwich I have ever ordered). Not only have they put their prices up (i.e. 2 coffees and a sandwich was £12.80) but after waiting for 30 minutes for the sandwich, it was absolutely disgusting. The bread was stale, the sandwich meat was rubbery and it was covered in stuffing and garlic - it was as though the sandwich had been made and re-heated for my order. Because I've been going there for so long, I thought I'd politely inform them of how bad the sandwich was (because its normally great) However, I was completely fobbed off and the staff member was completely disinterested with anything I had to say. I'm a loyal guy, but I will never set foot in the place again. Its a dingy place with no room and it was only the quality of the food and the quick service that made it a great little place to go. Unfortunately, they've completely lost their identity and forgotten all the things that made them great. Goodbye and remember, without customers you don't have a business.

Two friends and I made a rare visit to bury market yesterday and we weren't disappointed until we went for some lunch in Katsouris, what a let down!! We queued for ages for sandwiches, cakes and tea but hoped it would be worth the wait but how wrong we were!! Thick ciabatta with minimal filling, two prawns in one of the sandwiches, lemon cheesecake but hardly any taste of lemon and three mugs of hot water with a teabag floating in each one. I went to the counter to ask for some hot water as the tea was strong and was told it would be 50p per mug!!! Unbelievable!! Of course I refused to pay as lunch had already cost us £20 and the miserable assistant reluctantly topped up the mugs but wouldn't serve us separate hot water! All in all a miserable experience we won't be repeating on our next visit to an otherwise wonderful market.

We've always liked lunch at Katsouris in Bury market but our trip a few weeks ago wasn't a great experience and mainly due to the amount of smoking in the cafe area outside. We sat outside as no seats inside and ended up having to move due to one woman chain smoking next to our unimpressed 7 year old! This really lets the place down. We'd almost eaten our ciabatta sandwiches when the cheese on toast for our daughter finally arrived.. took over half an hour and had to ask for it twice. A portion of fries then came at the end when we'd all finished, again we'd chased these. This place has always been chaotic which we've never minded but the orders were all over the place this time, combined with the amount of smoking we'd probably go elsewhere next time. The deli however is still as amazing as ever and they sell the best hummus and ciabatta.

OK, firstly let me say we have been regular visitors to Katsouris for the last few years and go here every time we visit the markets. Every time we go it is heaving and chaotic, yes ordering does feel like a challenge; knowing which side to queue, trying to get a seat and carry food and drinks across a packed room is hazardous. However, we go through this and sit in cramped surroundings because we enjoy the food so much. I can honestly say I've never had a bad meal here. The premises is simply not big enough for the amount of customers but, despite some bad reviews, it must be testament to the how popular the place is that it is always packed out. If you can cope with crowds and being cooped up, this is a must visit.

Visited today on a very cold day, it could be that as it was so cold the place was quieter than normal and subsequently the service some people have complained about wasn't evident. We were served promptly and efficiently, the coffee was made with care and the food followed quickly after. The beef sizzler ( half portion ) was enough for us both as a light breakfast and tasted superb. You have to remember this is a café situated in a market and for the price you pay is great value for money.

The staff and food are really lovely. However I'm surprised they can work with the manager shouting at them like he does. They shouldn't stand for that. He really needs to respect his staff more. They need a medal.

3 of us waited for a table to be cleared. The server wiped the centre of the table sending the remnants of the last occupiers lunch splaying over all the seats and obviously leaving the four corners of the table still dirty. We then had to brush down the seats, the menu, as always, very interesting, we went to order and stood wrongly in the servers area, we were ignored by three members of staff. Whilst standing there we saw the filth. Both tills which by the way overhung the open salad and sandwich filling fridge, every surface of both tills was covered in thick dust, I mean a few weeks thick dust. I looked around for someone to complain to but the staff avoided us. I managed to catch one of the girls behind the cooker and complained to them , she shrugged like she couldn't care less or doesn't speak English. It goes without saying that we walked out. I hope someone that does care reads this review and does something about the poor standards. Katsouris has been an icon in the foolery business for many decades, I'd hate to think that visitors to Bury might consider it another "Grubby greasy spoon cafe". Please clean up your act!

Its a shame the sandwich talks more than the staff. Staff at this establishment are rude and make you feel that you are an inconvenience.

Food is very average, but I have never ever experienced miserable staff as I have here. Absolutely not interested in customer service in anyway, I heard 1 female member of staff say, (in front of lots of customers) to other staff, "customers look at you as if it's your fault". Never again would I visit such a miserable place again. The only thing that keeps this goin is that it's got outside seating for smokers and it's very close to the market. NOT Because of staff anyway

After calling here previously for breakfast after a night out in Manchester & having a great experience we returned but unfortunately.Today's experience was basically rubbish.Dirty Tables full of plates & cups,30 minutes wait for two bacon sandwiches because they forgot to put through our order.Staff who didn't seem capable ofA, Delivering the right order to the right tableB, Not have the sense to take away dirty plates on their journey back to the kitchen.C, Arguing kitchen staff which could be seen & heard in the open kitchen. To be fair the sandwiches were great when we eventually received them but as two locals sat next to us said,Missing orders is a regular thing.I'll spend my money elsewhere from now on

This is without doubt the best place in Bury for breakfast which is exceptional. The food quality is great all round with delicious sandwiches and cakes, many homemade also.We visit the deli for breakfast every week and coffees a number of times also which we have done for years. The place is always busy but it is always worth the hustle and bustle. We are however dismayed at 2 aspects which would bring them easily into the 5 star category -1. They have HP Sauce and Heinz ketchup bottles available on the tables etc but when you use the sauce you realise it's not HP or Heinz and I guess they are filling the bottles with a cheaper sauce just to save a few pence, it's disappointing given the length they go to to provide such good food ingredients etc.2. Reusing plastic spoons? The spoons are plastic and reused? You get a great coffee then see a used plastic spoon to add your sugar which is a little off putting. The spoons are washed but is there really a need? Please either throw them away or use a standard metal teaspoon! Will be back again this weekend and hopefully see proper sauce at some stage!

Food and coffee excellent and good value. Shame about the very rude attitude of one staff member, avoid the older thin lady with dark hair & tattoos, she needs to deal with her issues.

Popped in here for lunch and drinks and was very busy as usual. Food and drink was very nice, we had a mixture of hot roast baps, panini and baklava. Ordering was just a nightmare queuing up on one side to order drinks going round to another to order hot food and then having to go back round to order sweets. Staff had no communication between each other's with two staff serving us and not realising there were taking the same order and putting it through twice. Others people getting sent backwards and forwards for the same reason. Won't be eating in next time it's take out from now on

Called in whilst visiting Bury market. This combined with the fact that it was lunchtime meant that it was very busy but nevertheless we decided to give it a try. There was quite a queue to order but once we had ordered the food arrived in less than ten minutes. I have to say that we were very pleasantly surprised by the quality and quantity we received and the value for money which was exceptional. If you are not in a rush and do not expect plush surroundings then I'm sure you will enjoy this place. We will definitely be back.

A fantastic delicatessen, with an enormous range of continental and British foods. Prompt service and delicious sandwiches and cooked foodstuff, well worth a visit. Adds to the heart of a trip to Bury, definitely recommended A****

The food is great, the service ok, good value but as chaotic as hell. As long as you are not in a rush your expectations will probably be met. Generous portions of food which tasted great and seriously good coffee, decent menu.Only gripe is the organisation (or, rather lack of) the tables and seating area. Tables not cleared are a major turnoff for me as is packing as many tables and chairs into a small space. This is the same as their other branch so if you don't want to be asked to move your seat every couple of minutes for people, buggies etc, go after or before lunch.Return? Oh yes, when it's less busy.

This place is ok however it is rather busy and quite hectic over the weekend so I don't expect it to be somewhat excellent service. Me and my partner had breakfast there this weekend, the breakfast wasn't to bad the portion of beans to compliment the breakfast was a little to small. It was ok service it took around 15 mins till the food arrived on a very busy Saturday afternoon so I have to commend them on that aspect but overall it wasn't anything spectacular, it was presented well and was all in all just a standard breakfast you would get in most cafe's I think the food is slightly overpriced as well for the amount of custom and also where it is situated. It seems a bit like we will dish the food out just make sure they pay top whack for it, unfortunately I have to say this place is rather mediocre and the food is mediocre to adequate. I have had a better breakfast across the way from it diagonal to costa coffee. It's somewhat cheaper and the portions are better it looks a bit run down but appearance isn't everything, which is what Katsouris preys on its customers the most.

We called in for lunch what a complete nightmare never again,If you are expecting service with a smile from civil pleasant staff think again as you won't find it here. All I can say is organised chaos, tables uncleared food on the dirty floors. you order your food and drinks at the first part of the counter and pay for it. I ordered to pieces of carrot cake I got 1 and a half when I asked what happened I was told the other had stuck to the board ! I requested another piece I got it but it was .considerably smaller than the other piece. Also the assistant seemed very put out that I had questioned it in the first place, Payment no please or thank you by the miserable staff that are all shouting at each other, then you move along to queue for your drinks, in the mean time there's a girl wandering about the tables looking for me with a pork stuffing apple sandwich I'd ordered that was bland no taste what so ever a big let down. The latte was bitter in fact the worst I've tasted in a long time. The lady that was behind me returned her cappuccino as the froth had died before she'd has a sip. The whole experience wasn't at all pleasant, shame I had to score it at all, There are much nicer cleaner cheerful place to eat in Bury give this one a miss

We went to Katsouris today after visiting the Deansgate branch yesterday. The atmosphere is great in both places. We partly returned as my daughter wanted to have her favourite Little Kitten Breakfast and I particularly wanted my Meze Plate. The girl was the counter was so nice, helpful and friendly. The food and cakes are so tempting here, including the different coffees. My daughter's small chocolate was huge. You can see how much everyone is enjoying their food when you sit there. Great place!

Staff here are treated like they're worthless and are shouted at constantly. I have seen a couple of servers walk past me almost crying with the way they're talked to by the manager/owner. Food is quite greasy and had to be sent back a few times. Ordering is not a simple task; go up to the counter, order food and drinks, get a post-it note with your number on and then go and sit down. Then poor servers have to search for that post it to give you your food, by that time it's probably cold there's that many tables!

Ordering is a bit chaotic here you order food and get drinks ar different area, I managed to pour a whole latte over counter but girls were great, and they just told me to go and sit down and they'd bring them over, they did manage to muddle sandwich order up though. But when we eventually got it it was delicious

The food on offer looks nice and there is variety. But it is a slight bit expensive for location and facilities. The order and queue systems has no space and the staff appear young and in experienced. All in all I found the experience too cramped and I wouldn't return. The outside eating area never appears to be clean either. Go for a takeaway if you go

Went for lunch. 2 X jacket potato with beef and salad. 1 full English breakfast and 1 beef bap. The beef was so chewy all three of us had to keep removing grissle. The breakfast was ok apart from the bacon which was so salty and greasy it was inedible. Don't bother it's a waste of time and money.

This indoor/outdoor eatery that spans the outdoor market, the indoor part and the shops is an institution as it serves up quality food at a very reasonable price. The set meals and the hot ciabatta sandwiches are legendary. yes, its always busy and yes you may have wait for both service and your meal - but its worth it. The girls behind the counter are well organised and helpful but they are just very busy. You may get served faster at the Katsouris Deli station adjacent to the restaurant but you won't able t sit down, relax and have a bit of banter with those around you. Its all part of the Bury Market experience.

Most people who use this establishment know what times to avoid to get the best out of it and it is the most popular eatery I would say, in Bury. The food is excellent and the breakfast is one of the best, as for the sandwiches they are the best you will get. The problem is the kitchen size in comparison to the number of seats and the fact that making latte's etc take time. The staff work damned hard and deserve credit for their efforts. So if you go in around lunchtimes especially on a market day, you have been warned!

Overpriced, poor customer service, staff very rude, poor range of products and very badly managed. Also watch out for the flavours because the more adventurous they get, the worse they taste. The plain flavour is good though. The fruit toppings okay, but some times the fruit isn't fresh. Personally, between this place and the ice cream van, I would choose the ice cream van 8/10 times.

Terrible place wouldn't visit again, cleared our own table then asked for a cloth to wipe it and was ignored. Staff are rude and ignorant. Walk round looking miserable definatley not service with a smile. Twice I saw staff giving customers horrible looks one of which was an old man trying to get his walker past a table. Food was dry and this was my second choice as they didn't have my first choice. Till also wasn't working

Click and collect service is atrocious. Forgot to buy bags, got to pick up point and it says check-in using the app or confirmation email.. Well, try and find it on either. Had to telephone the poorly displayed telephone number. Informed them on the phone that I couldn't see anywhere to purchase bags online if you are collecting and if I could buy some. Oh jo, you have to get out and go into the store to stand in a que to purchase bags!..had to load refrigerated products and glass bottles in to my boot. Asked where to leave the black baskets and they said to just leave them there. Pity the next car that drives into them as I left them where I was told. Over all a pretty useless and poor service. Never again.
