Great place to meet friends and have lunch or a coffee, we stopped by with our dog yesterday, cappuccino and hot chocolate were very good, love the menu here and want to come back and try the biryani.

This place is dog friendly which we always appreciate. The food was excellent and very good value for money. We will definitely be returning

Lovely place to relax, get a drink and just sit. Views out over the sea, owners and staff very friendly and helpful. Nice selection of drinks and foods with a Middle Eastern twist.

Such a beautiful day so my friend and I sat outside and enjoyed a panini for lunch. Tables are very close together outside so a shame people smoke so close to others, that was a bit of a disappointment so we drunk up and left. It has a very varied menu.

We popped in on a Sunday afternoon in January and we were amazed to see how busy it was with couples, friends and families. Service was fast and friendly. I had the hummus and aubergine dish served with freshly cooked pitta and my husband had the lamb biryani. Both were delicious but the flavours in the biyani were exceptional. We finished with coffee and baklava. We were really impressed with this place and will be back.

When I last visited Kassa Coffee (a few years ago) part the building was an optician (Kassa Optics) , the optician has now left and you are left with a popular seafront café where, via looking across the A259 you can see the sea. Whilst I have only visited for drinks and snacks, the food (that others were eating) looked very good, thus I must try and return for lunch one day. We enjoyed our drinks and snacks and the first rate service. There is some outside seating, but I am yet to visit when some seats are free. Even at 8:30am, when the café opens, on a sunny day the outside seating is the first to the taken.

Great menu and lovely food but don’t mess with the menu, for example it’s not possible to have scrambled eggs instead of fried eggs! And if you ask for something extra, ie an extra sausage it probably won’t come or at least not with the rest of your meal. If they are busy then service is slow but if you’re not in a hurry and want what is on the menu then the food is great, cafe has a lovely vibe and prices are reasonable.

I'd been in a week or two before, for a coffee, whilst meeting friends, so was keen to go back to for a meal, as the food looked lovely. I was not disappointed. I had a chickpea dish which was delicious, & my partner had a platter which had an assortment of dishes in one. It was a beautiful mix. We are both vegan, so it was brilliant to have such a great choice, & at such a wonderful price! The staff were also friendly & chatty, & the loos were clean & user friendly. I look forward to our next visit!

A truly wonderful local cafe with generous portions and very good value. A great meeting place. It’s wonderful place for young and old, family friendly too.

Food was mediocre, I ordered a lemonade with my meal, and paid for it, two lemonades were brought out, the waiter later came and said, I’ve only paid for one, which I had only ordered one, an he will charge us for two, I explained I had only ordered one, an he took it back begrudgingly, and walked away saying ‘it’s not free’ very disappointing service, very rude waiter, I would not go back.

We booked a lunch at Kassa Coffee as we had good meals here before and it was my wife's birthday on Monday 4th June. We rang up early to book a table for 3 at 1.00 pm. When we got there no one knew of the booking but we were given a large table. My wife tried to order 2 eggs, sausage and salad but this was mistaken as 2 meals and when her dish arrived there was no sausage and there was bread which my wife had asked not to be added. Her salad was dry with no drressing and a limp sausage arrived 20 mins later! All in all a poor experience but lots of waiters not knowing what they were doing. I wont come back here again.

We had a large American and cappuccino, with a huge chocolate rolled pastry type thing. £7.50! We sat outside overlooking the sea. The food menu looks, delicious. I can imagine buying a takeaway to eat on the beach in the summer. We will definitely be back

A very cosy restaurant/café on the seafront of St. Leonards-on-sea. My wife and I stopped for coffee and cake, both of which were excellent, as was the service, comfort and cleanliness of the place. We enjoyed the friendly ambience very much, and stayed longer than we expected, it clearly has a deserved loyal following of locals. We will certainly be returning.

Just love a Kassa breakfast and their Afghan Biryani for later in the day. All washed down with either Persian or Mint Tea with maybe a piece of delicious baklava to follow. Finish off with a superb flat white coffee, heaven. Relaxed atmosphere, efficient and...

We stopped at this cafe for a drink and a snack and we were so delighted! Plenty of seating, lovely staff, quick service, gorgeous food, massive range and good strong coffee! They had vegan, GF and vegetarian options. Very impressive indeed, thank you!

Had a lovely takeaway coffee from here. Staff were efficient in working their way through the queue. Coffee tasted really good.

They definitely do the best coffee here in the whole if Hastings and you must try it here. They are doing their very best during the Covid-19 pandemic with the staff wearing masks and gel being on the door. Definitely recommended here. Enjoy.

my husband and I pop into Kasso often and are always warmly welcomed, we always have a lovely coffee, we have never eaten here but a lot of people do and there food always looks and smells delicious

You can rely on this place to serve you interesting reasonably price food...the coffee is well known for being good, and if there is a group of you they will book a table. As an added bonus they let well behaved dogs in.They seem to start closing at 4.30 so I can't say its good for dinner...but dinner at lunch time yes!

Had to try to find a seat this visit as they were so busy but that didn’t affect the quality of the food and the service All the food comes piping hot and is obviously freshly prepared and not a spot of oil of grease on the plate at all - just healthy vegan/vegetarian foodDefinitely recommended.Enjoy

I passed Kassa Coffee at 8:30 on a weekday and noticed it was open and several people were sat outside, so I stop and decided to get my early morning coffee fix.

Had the vegetarian combination this time - see photo and menu - chickpeas, lentil, spinach and potato, rice and salad at £6:50 - good sized plate.

I have ordered the Mezah, the Falafel and the bread both smelled very bad and were not fresh. The chicken special was swimming in butter and I felt that I will get a heartattck if would have eaten it.

Very impressed by this Persian themed restaurant, loads of great things on the menu but couldn’t stay for long so opted for the Sausage and Cheese Panini. Very nice with a good amount of filling.

Really good strong coffee here that must be the best strength coffee in Hastings in my opinion. Once again the vegetable biryani was very tasty and came in good time even though they were very busy. Still but do keen on them using plastic disposable glasses for the water - could be glass - also cash only no cards is not very helpful but cash machines very near! Unfair on the reviewer to give a poor review for this and no vegan cakes (they don’t advertise vegan cakes!!)

Absolutely delicious and fresh food that is incredible value. Lovely service that is very quick. I love the quirkiness of the layout too. It felt very relaxed.

Went here for the first time this morning and I was not disappointed. The Mediterranean breakfast was so fresh and tasty! I would choose it over an English breakfast any day. It doesn't look like a lot of food but it was so filling. Quick service with a smile.

Really wanted to try this coffee house but was bruskly told they don't have any vegan cakes and they don't take card payments. So walked out and went elsewhere.

Kassa is right on the sea front. The food is amazing - home-cooked middle eastern biryanis and stews that are bursting with flavour both fruity and spicy with plenty of vegetarian options. Portions are huge and prices are very reasonable. They turn off the wi-fi at lunchtime - a nice idea that makes space for people actually eating lunch. While you're there you can get your eyes tested or buy a new pair of glasses - only in St Leonards!

My friend who lives in Hastings took me to Kassa for my birthday and we had a lovely time. Our lunch was delicious and I tried Persian tea for the first time! I would recommend the place and the dishes I saw looked very appetising. I didn’t go for a cake but I will try to go back there next time I am in Hastings.

A lovely cafe overlooking the sea front, plenty of room, a warm welcome, good coffee and lots of cake choices, hot meals available also.

We'd heard good things about this place before our visit, so were keen to try it out for lunch. But what a disappointment, ordering food at the counter was a challenge, such rude staff. If you want water you have to get it yourself from dirty open bottles in the middle of the restaurant/opticians with no clue how long its been standing there or what other people have done to it - the bottles were so grimy and greasy with other peoples fingerprints that I'd rather go thirsty.

After a walk along the seafront on a grey Friday we popped in here for a bit of lunch.

We came in for a piece of cake and a coffee. Not sure if just on the day we were in, or permanently, but very limited choice of cake. Despite this we both had the chocolate cake and it was absolutely incredible. I also enjoyed my mocha, it was nice and chocolatey. We will return at a later date to sample the savoury food as we have heard it is delicious. A very serene place to pass the afternoon.

If you ever find yourself in this little gem of a sea view place, the afghan biryani is a must have.....the others had med breakfast (delicious) panini (truly scrumptious) poached egg avocado with Persian tea..... Fab Fab Fab...... Love it.

Late Sunday afternoon. In need of coffee and snack after a day’s walking round Hastings. We each had a panini with salad and hummus, and big mugs of coffee - speedy service. Excellent value for money. Relaxed watching the late afternoon sun from the window.

Had a pit stop here for coffee Cortado was on the money as was the americano. Didn’t have food but looked nice and very reasonably priced. Dogs allowed but only takes cash so be prepared

Popped in and grabbed a takeaway coffee. Looks like a really good place to sit and relax. Would like to go back and try some of the food options.

Starting with the positives , the Afghan biriyani is the best biriyani i’ve ever had and is very reasonable. However I have an issue with the staff which I hope the management will address as it’s not just me who has mentioned this , 3 of my local friends have noticed. The guy with the beard in particular is very unfriendly and barely makes eye contact let alone saying a word. I passed this off a few times .. maybe he was just having a bad day but today , again he just dumps my coffee on the counter and walks off to the kitchen without uttering a word. This is a very friendly neighbourhood and this does not wash well with the locals . If he has some issues with his manager , these should be addressed And not projected onto Kassa Coffee customers. The young female staff member also seems permanently stressed out . Sort it out Kassa Coffee.. you have a great thing going and me and my friends will go elsewhere as don’t appreciate the bad vibes .

Kassa really does offer the best in independent coffee shops. It has panoramic views of the seafront, comfortable chairs and excellent good quality freshly cooked food at unbeatable prices. I recommend the Persian soup although my friends swear by their Biryani. They offer an extensive menu of middle eastern/Asian meals and snacks which are freshly prepared on their premises. Their friendly, hardworking multinational staff create a great welcoming environment.

This is one of my favourite places for lunch. Lovely atmosphere, friendly staff, but the food, wow, it's just great. I've never had a bad meal in here.. Lovely food reasonably priced, a real gem of a place. I would highly recommend Kassa.

A good cafe opposite the beach in St. Leonards, which interestingly has an excellent opticians at the back. A book-lined room with English food and middle-eastern specialities which are delicious. Tables outside. Excellent coffee, and reasonable prices.

This place has a lovely ambience, it's light and airy with a wonderful view of the sea just opposite. Staff are friendly and caring, seating comfortable. Due to it's popularity it can get a little loud at times, but maintains a happy atmosphere. Food is Iranian/persian inspired and I highly recommend their scrambled egg on toast (it's got added spices etc. included and is lush!) and also the wonderful combination platter. Prices are reasonable too and there is outdoor seating available as well. I love visiting this cafe especially on sunny days when the view is clear and the sea is calm!

Enjoyed a family coffee at Kassa. Very kooky vibe but really nice quality coffee. Friendly staff and good service. Cash only. One criticism is lack of baby change facilities!

Sorry Kassa coffee but me and six of my friends agreed that although the food is good your COFFEE is dreadful, too bitter.

We are here twice - once for lunch and once for dinner. Both meals were excellent. Nice atmosphere, friendly staff, great food. Very reasonable prices. Located on the waterfront.

We just found Kassa Coffee when looking for a place to have a light lunch and coffee while in Hastings. What a find. It wasn't such a light lunch as the portions are generous. I had a falafel with humous, stuffed vine leaves, olives, feta cheese, salad and flat bread - all delicious and fresh. My husband had the combination plate which was three curries with rice and salad. I had a taste of his and it was truly delicious. In fact I have since tried to recreate the lentil coconut curry one at home and it wasn't anywhere near as good. Maybe just as well I don't live close or I'd eat here a lot!

Kassa is a quirky coffee and lunch venue. Meals are very good value, tending to be stews or curries, particularly biriani. I agree smokers at the seats outside can be a problem.

I read the below review and felt compelled to write as I do agree with the smoking comment. The place is nice and a good selection of food. Staff are nice. But its such a shame that you can't sit outside as a non smoker as it seems ONLY for heavy smokers which ruins any outdoor seating for anyone else. Kassa - be the first to ban smoking on your premises. You'd make a lot of people very happy.

Really lovely cafe on the front. Good selection of vege and vegan food which is great. Its just a shame that non smokers can't take advantage of the seating outside as it seems ONLY smokers there and you are engulfed in a sea of hideous cigarette smoke which is disgusting. Tried 3 times and same every time. Sadly will not return because of this. We know this is a problem everywhere. It would be amazing if there was one place in the area that banned smoking on its property so all could sit outside.

There is a great choice here of vegetarian and vegan dishes with the middle eastern twist and just so tasty as well

Was feeling peckish after strolling around St Leonards street market so dropped in for a simple lunch.

A little bit different and great place for good basic food of various ethnic origins, but mainly Middle Eastern. Caters for all, in terms of veg, non-veg, vegan ( I am sure) spice level etc. Starters, mains, large and small, good pastries and really GREAT coffee !!.

Stumbled across Kassa Coffee mid-afternoon while house hunting and knackered after a series of lacklustre viewings.

Dropped in for a light lunch, which was absolutely delicious. I had the hummus and Aubergine Purée with salad and warmed pita which was absolutely delicious!

Have been visiting here for a few years now and always go here for a 'quick bite to eat' as they have a good and interesting selection of food, from Biriyani to Paninis, so it is good for a group as there's usually something for everyone. Good mint tea and coffee. lovely environment, facing the sea. Will come back.

Have driven by this place for years and been fascinated . Finally met up with friends for morning coffee and was really impressed by the variety of food and drink that was being served.

Lovely coffee, loads of vegetarian food and good portions. The cake I think was shop bought, but actually good quality and moist. Good value.

Stopped here for coffee but honestly wish we had eaten here as the food looked amazing. The fresh mint tea had lots of mint and was very good. We sat outside on the promenade with our Labrador puppy which was lovely.

Chosen for its location and number of people seen eating, we needed lunch at short notice and didn't have long to spare. The food was delicious and extremely reasonably priced. We would definitely go back now that we have experienced this gem.

Went to revisit for late lunch meeting at 3.15pm. Ordered chicken stew and vegetarian platter. Notice when ordering at till that it's cash only. No notice of this outside. This could have been very inconvenient. It also a very out of concept for 2018, for a seafront restaurant cafe.

We've been to Kassa about five times now and each time has been good. I can't remember exactly what I've eaten each time but it will have been vegan and great value for money - as that's what I like! The food in imaginative and tasty, the service is friendly and efficient.

I’ve been coming to this place for over 2 years and it’s been nice, but lately it just seems the quality of food & experience has decreased over time.

Good coffee, excellent falafel and friendly service combine to make Kassa into one of the nicest cafes in Hastings and beyond. We’ll definitely come again.

Kassa is a local seafront restaurant or cafe of sorts which is the only place I know in the world which has an operational Optician practising out of the back of the restaurant. Have a good lunch, have your eyes tested. A former crockery clearance shop, this very friendly and eccentric places serves up extremely good simple food (veg curry, rice and salad, a good Greek salad, coffees, teas, etc) which is well prepared and presented for well-under £10 per large plate. The room itself, furnsihed with DFL-style armchairs and sofas, is comfortable and accommodating and while it always seems to be full of St Leonards' locals (plus their dogs, children, friends and tourists) it never feels packed or unpleasantly crowded or noisy. The decor, a selection of charity shop remnants, includes framed passages from the Koran, street views of Paris, rather kitsch portraits and a very large selection of books (in the 'library' corner' toward the back of the space). The optitian at the back will see you on appointment, and emerging from your eye test you may be better equipped to stare at the long low range of the sea in its various moods through the wide stretch of plate glass windows along the front. Everything about Kassa exemplifies the low-key, self-effacing qualities which identify the identity St Leonards has carved out for itself in the past years, and no attitude is in residence here.

Another great visit. So comfy here and not expensive. Food quality is nice and coffee tastes great. You can even get your eyes tested in this cafe.
