Party of 4, dinner on a Tuesday night at 1930. Nice house(building), front has a quiet bar, nice decor, no customers at 1930. We had reservations, were immediately seated and asked for drink preferences. Mixed drinks were good, beer selection ok. We had 3 small plate appetizers, shared among 4. Very good. 4 dinner selections, 1 came with rice, others had rice ala carte. Food presentation was excellent. Portions largish, and very good quality. Nice dessert selection, mostly ice creams or gelato. Bill was £190. Service charge 10.5%. We ate and drank well. Food and service was very good. I would give a 4.5 rating if possible, (I'm a very hard grader)

My mother and I got a takeaway. First timers: we chose because it was the closest. The delivery was prompt and courteous and the food was hot, which is usually a good sign. The food was generally mediocre, but not offensive. For example, my chicken tikka bhuna masala frankly tasted bland. Very little spice or seasoning. Not what I look for in this type of cuisine... mum's dhal was watery, and her saag paneer had no solid pieces of cheese in it... it was more of a cheesy spinachy soup, I guess? Unfortunately there were some more serious issues that made it less than enjoyable. Mum ordered a paratha, but declined to eat it. I tried a bit to see what the issue was. For a start, it was basically a grey colour: but also instead of fluffy and crispy, it was doughy and tasted terrible. Half convinced there was something in it there shouldn't have been... bad ghee? ...not properly cooked. I was really disappointed with how flavourless my bhuna masala was. I don't think it was prepared by somebody who takes pride in (or even tastes) the food he/she prepares. I can't often afford to eat out, so it was a real disappointment. Feel like I wasted an opportunity! To top it off I have a bad stomach today: completely out of character, as I don't usually experience that at all, no matter how spicy the food may be. This food wasn't even spicy!

Food was so-so. Saag paneer was basically liquid. Ghee paratha tasted rancid

Booked a table on the basis it was the nearest restaurant looking out of the window of our Airbnb. I wish the place had been busier, we had the whole place to ourselves to start with, which is a real shame, as we were warmly welcomed and very well fed! I actually had to check the bill at the end to see if something had been missed off - what a great value meal: it's a good job we didn't have far to walk back!

Told me to collect at 8.35. Went at that time but it wasn't ready until 8.55. Really annoying. I don't mind how long it's going to take, but the whole point of getting a takeaway is so that I don't have to be in a potentially Covid infested indoor space for very long, so it's annoying to turn up at the time I'm told and then have to wait another 20 minutes -- just tell me the waiting time honestly in the first place please! Also, when I finally got it all home, one of the dishes was not what we ordered.

We went the first day they reopened. Staff were friendly, service was as quick as you'd expect given that they have to cook it, and the food was good. We will happily go back.

Always a nice meal from the Kashmir, and generous portions.

I’ve dined at Kashmir in person many a time before Covid. This is my first time ordering a take-away. I decided against ordering from the many other Indian restaurants in Southsea for a take-away, mostly because I’d dined here before and had a great experience and also because they’re my local Indian restaurant and want to shop and eat local. The experience of eating in the restaurant compared to our take-away order is like having fresh in house and having what can only be described as frozen, reheated food ordered to your door. Really sad to say this but the tasty food we once had in the restaurant leaves much to be desired when delivered. Not sure that’s because they have less fresh ingredients because of the pandemic and less orders but the starters of onion Bhaji, chicken pakora and vegetable samosa were so dry that even the mint sauce and mango chutney couldn’t save them, we had a few mouthfuls abs had to bin them. On to the overly oily mains. The chicken Malaya was like a pulp, the chicken blending into the sauce as molasses and not tasting fresh at all. You’d hope the fresh juicy pineapple would save it, but instead just took on the same bland frozen flavour of the chicken. The Lamb Bhuna very much the same, just mostly rating oily and very devoid of flavour - very different to how it was in-house. Even the Nana’s were dry with the garlic and coriander so dry they must’ve been days old and not fresh because you just couldn’t taste the flavours. I’m not sure whether they have different chefs because of lockdown or whether they’ve batch cooked and frozen. Either way, I’ve always been a very happy customer when dining in but tonight’s delivery was flavourless, less than fresh and soulless. Hoping to have my opinion swayed when they open again.

First curry from here since before lockdown 1, really impressed by the food, service and value for money! Good choices on the menu especially vegetarian options-most important for my wife! A real jewel and one of the best curry houses I have found!

I cant write a rating ive used this restaurant for a lot of years and never had an issue with anything, tonight on the other hand i ordered via just eat app for the first time, and i hate to say was the worst I've had food was almost 30mins late and was stone cold. 100% as always. Nice food friendly staff clean and smart restaurants will be back before long. Can always rely on these guys to make a good evening.

Not used this restaurant since Nov 19, quality and value for money remains excellent! Interesting menu with good vegetarian options cannot recommend too strongly! In my opinion the best Indian in Portsmouth.

We visited here on a whim and were not disappointed. Probably one of the best places we've been too for a curry. Loved it!

Ordered chicken tikka patia and got a chicken madras which was tasteless 😩 The bhindi baji was good and I called to change the address due to my error and the restaurant were very helpful.

The Kashmir is now back open! We had a delicious takeaway this evening and have made a booking for our Daughter's birthday. Our family have been coming here for years and always find it the best curry, excellent service and very reasonably priced. We would not hesitate to recommend it.

Visited on a Saturday a few weeks ago. General look of the restaurant is so old fashioned, it's nearly trendy again and had a warm welcome. Food was lovely, good value and well looked after by Sol. A really good evening and will go back whenever it re-opens.

Samosas tasted bland and thought they would of been made with filo pastry but looked like a burn folded pancake. Dansak tasted burnt and chicken was dry. Added mango chutney to the order and it didnt taste anything like it.

Had a butter chicken and garlic rice in here and have to say it was the worst I’ve ever had we are used to spice village in Drayton which is excellent . The rice was not one bit garlicky and the butter chicken tasted like korma but tasteless my husbands special Biriani was slightly better but not great , it was about 11pm when we went in I know it’s late but we weren’t drunk which maybe they think they can serve to people who may think this is acceptable but to us a complete waste of money, I’ll never be going back that’s for sure no wonder they were empty !!

Taste wise the Kashmir is by far the best take away in Portsmouth, their food is always full of flavour and delicious. Tonight i went for a healthier option of chicken tikka and tandoori roti instead of a curry. It came with a lovely fresh salad, the chicken was tender and really enjoyable. I usually go for their garlic chilli chicken and coconut rice which is out of this world! I’ve tried plenty of curry houses but come back to the Kashmir time and time again because the taste never fails you!

Decided to have a takeaway as a birthday treat, as usual not disappointed, great food, huge portions and good value. Glad to see the quality of food has not diminished in the time, over 20 years, that we have enjoyed the Kashmir! Please keep up the good work!

The service is excellent as is the value for money. This restaurant has been here over 40 years, so something must be right. The food is comforting and reassuring . Some dishes are excellent while others bland. The dhansak is good, as is the chicken tikka, but avoid the standard biriani sauce which can be bland. Overall a nice experience and a restaurant worth visiting.

Disappointed, the food was 45 minutes late, called the restaurant 3 times only to be told it was due to the bad weather (it’s raining) and that the driver was in Fratton Road, why you would drive from Southsea to my house via Fratton Rd is beyond me, the kids were starving by the time the food was here and it was mostly cold. When reheated it actually tasted ok but just disappointed with the time delay and cold food ! I contacted the just eat live chat and they sorted it and refunded the cost of the cold food which is good

Tonight the food was very late and poorly cooked. We’ve ordered from the Kashmir for twenty years without cause for complaint but tonight was terrible. Ordered food at 1741 - restaurant doesn’t open until 1800 and order acknowledged promptly when open. Food arrived at 1936 - delivery driver stated that he had lots of other orders to fulfill first. Food was cold when it arrived. Pilau rice congealed. Chicken Jalfezi and mint chicken both just spicy chicken stew. Chapatis tasted of fish. Eventually spoke with the manager of the restaurant who told me to phone Just Eat for my money back and give the food to the dog. Seemed appropriate.

Food arrived on time and delivery driver friendly and polite, the Kashmir Special Tikka Masala, Chicken was tasty, with plenty of chicken that was tender and moist. loved the Tikka Akhani, Chicken there was enough for 2 portions and loads of chicken, my only complaint there was shredded lettuce on the top. I hate lettuce and struggled to remove it as in had blended into the cheese so I mixed it into the food but could still taste it. PLEASE NO LETTUCE ON TOP OR AT LEAST PUT IT IN THE DESCRIPTION ON THE MENU. Thanks will use again

Tasted ok wasnt awful but the amount of oil on the top of the Curries was ridiculous it had all leaked in the bag and everywhere pretty much onion bajis were cold as were the chips.

Mi marido tenía el Cordero de Goa, picante y lleno de sabor, mientras que yo tenía el Cordero Pathia, un sabor increíble. El servicio era bueno, los platos estaban calientes y muchos clientes habituales aparecían para recoger comida para llevar. Recomiendo encarecidamente este restaurante! !

Las personas que nos siguen, las ignoramos por mucho tiempo, pero nos informan que la comida estaba fresca, por lo tanto, la demora. The curry I ordered was awful, essentially a carton of pure oil, asked for it to be extra hot, and came very mild indeed. Ordered a lamb samosa, had. To laugh when I saw it as it was a chapiti wrapped in half.... Will never order here again.

Very good range of curries so you will be stretched to find someone who doesn’t like anything on the menu. However, no drinks available to order which is unusual. Food was delivered piping hot and also received free poppadoms which is nice. Would recommend.

I've been eating in the Kashmir since I was a student, I'm now retired and still eating there although I live 15 miles away. There are plenty of good restaurants that just fail to meet the Kashmir's standard, it's the food, it's always good. If you like me have good memories, don't worry it wasn't a dream, it's still excellent.

Many Indian restaurants to choose from but we just went off the street. Pleasant interior and welcoming staff. Food excellent and large menu to choose from. My wife and I enjoyed the dinner and wine and next time in town will go again.

Can't fault the food, however the delivery driver shouted at me regarding a light not working in our block of flats. Made me feel very uncomfortable. Unacceptable behaviour.

Sentada afuera de Slug and Lettuce en Southsea tomando un trago antes de ir a casa, y mi esposa vio cómo se encendían las luces exteriores del restaurante Kashmir. Nos miramos y cada uno de nosotros decidió, de vez en cuando, saltarse el viaje a casa para preparar una cena e ir a este restaurante indio en su lugar. No hemos estado aquí por varios años. La decoración ha cambiado de lo que recuerdo. A pesar de ser temprano (7 pm) ya estaba bastante ocupado. No mucho después de que llegáramos, vinieron otros, más una gran fiesta. Eso fue tranquilizador, saber que todavía era un popular restaurante indio. Las mejores ganga de cebolla durante mucho tiempo - excelente. Toda la comida era buena y volverá de nuevo, sin la larga ausencia esta vez.

Went for a meal with friends to the Kashmir where we have been many times before and always had good food.

Dreadful Food. Most of it was bland and insipid. Lacked flavour - including the dips with the poppadoms.
