The Indian store clerk is super friendly and willing to give suggestions. Enter during peak dining hours and be seated immediately! They all come over and ask if they have any questions~ I ordered a mutton curry with pancakes. People who don’t like spicy food should pay attention. The chili pattern on the menu is no joke. The dishes are really spicy, but they are very fragrant and delicious! The cake is crispy on the outside but chewy in texture, and the more you chew, the more delicious it gets. It also goes well with Indian rice! His drinks are delicious and a complete oasis in the UK! I ordered a glass of Blue Hawaii, coconut milk + pineapple, refreshing and delicious!

Food and drinks were quite unremarkable and disappointing for the price (e.g. £3.25 for tiny portions of steamed rice that were dry). I ordered a mocktail (mojito) which was just an overpriced, small sprite with some mint and a wedge of lime (£4.50!). Mains had a mass produced feel to them and a lack of vegetables. We could have cooked much better food ourselves at home.

Little pricey but extremely tasty food. Had the briyani and fish curry which were very tasty. Decent service too.

Amazing food and even better service. We were warmly greeted on the Good Friday evening even on a full house. The food was mouthwatering and yummy. We had the Monk Fish Tikka for starters, followed by Dhaba Murgh Curry, Mixed Veg Taka tak and the wholesome Chapatti and Paratha. We felt like we are at home. We opted for the Tea at the end and it was really refreshing. Would highly recommend.

Can’t fault the food, but when we’re all obviously finished and ready to go don’t rush us out. We’re not in your way.

The food here is amazing. I think the the staff could do with some customer care training. When it was time to leave they were quite rude.

It tasted like a microwave meal and there were a couple of flies in the building, which made me feel sick .

I went there for the first time and ordered a Paneer Dish, Samosa Chat and later in the desert was Brownie with Ice-cream. The food was ok, the prices were ok too, however the manager was rude and he literally made me move my chair from one direction to another just because he wanted another customers to accommodate, wherein the whole restaurant had no customers and he could have made them sit anywhere else but he wanted me to disturb be in between having my food. I would not like visiting this place again and won't even recommend it. Very disappointed with the customer service.

The food and service were excellent. I don't like onions, so I was given a recommendation for a curry that would suit my tastes, and it proved delicious (the Old-school curry). I had previously been there two weeks previously, and I would go again. My only criticism has nothing to do with the food or service: I couldn't get the hand-drier to work in the Gentlemans' convenience.

Fast paced, busy and really good. I would recommend booking beforehand. Very flavoursome and reasonably priced. Great for gluten free, vegan and veggie options too!

Amazing food. The best curry I've ever had. Each dish we tried had a surprising complexity of flavours which I've never experienced with curry before, and I've eaten in a lot of indian restaurants!

Very good as usual. Unassuming, but good food and well served without being obtrusive.

Use this place for lunch once a month and it is excellent. Food is first class and you can bring your own to bottle of alcohol without incurring any changes.

The food is annoyingly hot with ground chilli and lots of oil in an unhealthy amount. Service is fair enough. The staff members and everyone in the front of the house are polite and attentive to details. It's the chef here who messed things up. The chutney tray for the Papadoms I expected was freshly prepared but it didn't taste so. The starters weren't up to the mark. It tasted of oil and whole pieces of spices added with a some amount of rawness to it. Would not recommend.

Given the choice, I would rate it zero. We ordered vegetable biryani, but it was entirely stale, leading to food poisoning the following day. Additionally, the service was subpar, with a rude and judgmental waiter/manager.

Spicy south Indian food, I tried menu that I never had before (Chicken curry and some curry with coconut), turns out okay as new experience (usually I order chicken tikka masala, madras or chicken butter). This restaurant is a bit different with a little hot taste from chillies but I like it. Server and food is fast with no time of waiting. I recommended the starter set for 2 people that recommended in the menu it worth the money :)

One of the Best Place in Edinburgh if you actually want to taste Indian Food. They will adjust spices as per your taste. Tried every Restaurant around, but finally Kahani is the place which is actually serving the best Indian Food.

The restaurant has plenty of veg options but the staff must be more attentive as we had to remind them again for the dishes we ordered as they forgot. The ratings were high but found better restaurants than this with better taste. If you are looking for more veg options in Edinburgh, you can visit and look for more food options here.

Had ordered dal tadka, basmati rice and alu mutter. Alu mutter was sweet. Dal wasn't cooked well. Papad tasted as if it was fried in stale oil. Overall not a good experience.

We had a booking, for 17:30,as were going to see a show,so restaurant was quiet. Food, was very tasty,if not a bit pricey,as each part of a meal,charged separately. Asked twice for water & it still hadn't come,by the end of the meal. We did get glasses & is good,that you can BYOB. One main meal,that we had ordered,was wrong. Had started to eat it & they did offer to change it,but declined. Waiters,need to pay more attention,to orders.

Food was not delivered and the person who answered the phone did not care at all.

Been here a few times now and never been disappointed! Veg pakora/fish pakora/mushroom and cheese starters, then chicken saag/tikka masala/jalfrezi/kahari main dishes and peschweri naan all delicious, good portions and fresh and hot!! Thank you!

One of the best Indian in all of Edinburgh. The food and service is excellent. The Aalo Chana Chaat and Malai Kulfi beat even some of the Chaat and Kulfi I’ve had in India! Everything we tried was authentic. The portion size is also great. Service is very fast as well. We’ve been here twice and it was great both times!

Expensive food with a plain taste.

This is a very nice place for Indian food on foreign shores. Service is good with pleasant people like Purushottam Saville Darell and Suraj making you feel comfortable. The food is good on the palate and we liked it especially because our 7 year old son loved the food and enjoyed it.

A mix of tuk tuk and dishoom. Very hard working and generous staff. 0.25£ for parcel of your food. Good variety of vegetarian food. Only beer and wines are allowed to be consumed as a part of BYOD. Definitely must visit. 🙌

Best Samosa Chat I have ever had in the whole UK. I have been there 3 times while I was visiting Scotland. - The food is really tasty. - Ambience is decent and good for having a quiet meal away from the city crowd. - Must go while in Scotland. - It's Recommended for larger groups as it has large tables and a big dining area as well. - You can pre-order before going to the restaurant. Which saved us much time.

Amazing taste and brilliant location. This place is walking distance from central Edinburgh. The overlooking tables by the roadside are amazing on a bright sunny day. The food is amazing. The price may seem on the higher side but for the taste and the location it's well worth it. Overall a must try!

Had the most amazing meal last night. First time in Edinburgh so was unsure where to eat, and my, did we make a good choice. The food was genuinely cooked to perfection! Nice one Joe! Was presented beautifully and I honestly could not recommend them highly enough. The staff were a credit too, so welcoming and friendly.

We were in Edinburgh for 3 nights and ended up having dinner here on all nights!! Authentic Indian food with great staff and quick service! Loved all the food items especially the Dal Makhani, which is the closest to what we get in Delhi/Chandigarh/India. Would highly highly recommend this if you want to have an authentic Indian dining experience.

We have been tonight and we were amazed by the pleasant staff and huge portions. The nan bread was the best and it was one of the best Indian experiences, tasty and mouth watering x Had to fetch wine from Tesco as don't do alcohol, but this wasn't a problem,we will know for next time.,which will be Wed before we go home xx 😍

As a proud kashmiri this meal was a stab to the heart of all culture i cherish and represent. We went for an anniversary meal with high hopes and expectations. We ordered the mixed grill starter and chicken off the bone curry as main to eat in. My wifes sour mood was an initial dampner on the already dry chicken but the mixed grill was poor. The chicken was extremely dry, and the other items were just about passable. However the main event the curry may just be the worst curry i have ever had in my life. The fact it was a shade somewhere between green and grey triggered initial alarm bells but when delved into, the slimy thigh meat confirmed my worst fears. The fragrant pilau rice i had looked forward to was just boiled rice with colour and cumin. I can hand on heart say the irn bru was the best part of my experience, hats off to them with it was served ice cold with a wedge of lemon. Moral of the story me and my wife were duped by the ratings and reviews please i beg of you do not be as foolish as us. Go to phuket pavillion round the corner 10/10 banging thai food for a fraction of the price. Enjoy your day x

Mango Lassi served packaged product not fresh.. Samosa Chat is waste of money.. They just mixed sauces.. Yogurt with samosa pieces and served in cold condition.

Tried to get a meal before the theatre but most restaurants were full. We stumbled upon this place. We never had a booking but they welcomed us in despite being very busy. They made a table up in minutes..very friendly staff, fresh ingredients and service was swift. A definate one to return to. We will book next time !

I tried this restaurant for the first time yesterday evening (Valentines day dinner) and I was really disappointed. Couldn't get my head around the high ratings and reviews. The starters were probably "the best" course however, lacked any sort of flavour. The dips they came with saved the dishes. When the mains arrived they were luke warm and again lacked flavour and seasoning. The garlic nann wasn't much better - it had the texture of a pizza that had been microwaved! We then asked for takeaway tubs as we didn't finish the curries and to my shock, when I looked at the bill they charged us for the tubs! WOW!!!! This is a first! I've had a lot better in Edinburgh and will not be returning. I'm not one for complaining but, wanted to get an honest review out there.

Lovely and hospitable customer service, great food that tastes like home. Nice ambience. Host was very welcoming. It beat our earlier visit to Dishoom. Would definitely recommend if you visit Edinburgh! x

We've been to Kahani restaurant a few times now and the food is fantastic. Tonight, we decided to have a home delivery. The food is really nicely packaged and clearly labelled and it was still hot when it arrived at the door. It is by far, the best carry out we've had. The food is top quality and very well cooked. I can't recommend Kashanis highly enough. The quality is up there, whether eating in or carrying out.

Over priced. Not worth. Bad behaviour from staffs. I will not suggest this restaurant’s to my family and friends.
