Their home made dips were some of the best I have eaten. Their curry was good also. Nice friendly staff, recommended

Disappointed with this place considering reviews. Premises a bit shabby, toilets not particularly clean. Meal was OK, Saag ghost and Lamb Madras were both tasty, bit salty. Pilau rice was a bit dry and both keema and peshwari nans were soggy. Drinks were overpriced. 10% service charge added to the bill, not bad enough to ask for it to be removed, but wouldn’t have left a tip as service in keeping with meal.

Beautiful restaurant with very helpful and pleasant staff the lady maitre d was lovely. food excellent, I had Thai and my husband had Indian.

This restaurant is a hidden gem. We received a warm welcome and had wonderful service. The Thai food was delicious. We thoroughly enjoyed the cashew chicken and green curry.

Thai and Indian food. Our group had dishes from both cuisines and they were outstanding. Particularly recommend the Mint Leaf Special, (duck in a sweet-sour sauce) . The Thai soup was amazing too.

Excellent evening meal. Both Thai and Indian dishes were ordered at the table, everything was freshly cooked and very enjoyable. Attentive service, starters were a particular highlight.

I recently dined at this restaurant and had the pleasure of trying their vegetarian Biryani. The dish was bursting with flavors, perfectly spiced, and beautifully presented. The quality of the ingredients was evident in every bite. The staff was friendly, attentive, and went out of their way to ensure a wonderful dining experience.

Excellent as always. My family and I have been coming here for years - our favourite restaurant. Food is delicious, service is prompt and friendly, decor is luxurious. Happy to recommend.

Both Thai and Indian dishes are excellent and there is so much choice! All food is cooked fresh to order which meant we were able to specify no chillis for youngest child. Very friendly and welcoming staff too. Love this place, we will be back!

Happened to walk past this hidden gem while looking for a place to eat before heading to an Edinburgh International Festival Performance. The food was super tasty, flavorful, and large portioned. We split 2 dishes, a naan, and an appetizer between the two of us and still had food leftover. The staff was super friendly and made us feel welcome and comfortable. They even gave us some complimentary tea after our dinner. Thank you, Mintleaf, for being gracious, friendly, and kind to two American travelers.

Discovered this fabulous restaurant while staying in nearby Malmaison hotel for Edinburgh Tattoo. The food was amazing and the service superb.

Good food and taste. Big rotis served. Ordered Paneer bhuna good taste although if you want gravy, can request to increase gravy quantity. Had more paneer chunks than gravy. Dal tadka and aaloo had optimal flavors. One thing that disappointed was pad thai, was more like noodles/chowmein Indian version wasn’t authentic. Just one thing not sure if service charge of 10% , although is mentioned in menu is it compulsive to be paid, not sure. Decent service and good ambiance.

Excellent Indian and Thai food in a quiet, comfortable setting. The Tikka Massala and garlic Naan were top notch, my husband had an excellent Thai stir fry. Left full and satisfied!!!

Sauces and presentation good but all the chicken was dry and stringy. Also near £40 per person seems a bit high for 2 courses and they would not give a vat receipt.

We had a terrific pre-gig curry in Mintleaf on Friday night. The Pakura was light and fresh and then we went for a Kathmandu Murgh Tikka and a Green Curry from their Thai menu. Both were really fresh and light, no heavy sauces to overpower the dish. The seasoning was spot on and aromatic in both dishes which were complemented by their gorgeous coconut 🥥 rice 🍚 and a perfect 👌 Peshwari nan. First time in but it hopefully it won't be the last! 🍛

Just had the most amazing birthday dinner at Mint Leaf in Leith. The restaurant itself is decorated beautifully and gives off a sense of tranquillity as soon as you walk in. We were greeted by the lady who runs Mint Leaf who is lovely. The staff have figured out just the right balance between friendliness and great service. And now to the food! I ordered a fragrant chicken jalfreezi which was both delicate and spicy while my boyfriend ( new to asian cuisine) ordered the mildest thing on the menu, a delicious lamb curry. If really top notch Indian cooking is your thing it's well worth jumping on a tram down to leith ( 15 min from the city centre) and luxuriating in this oasis of calm and excellent food!

My friend and I ate here for dinner last night and we are still trying to work out how it cost so much?! We have looked at the menu and what we ate but still can’t account for approximately £10 of it. What we ate was tasty however, small portions but adequate. Would have preferred to add on our own tip at the end of the meal. However even without the hefty tip they added on -theres still money unaccounted for.

we had went for the Thai menu, we ordered spring rolls and thai fish cakes, spring rolls were ok but the thai fish cakes were awful, they were done in soggy pakora batter. I had a thai chicken curry (the chicken was tough) my husband had sweet and sour chicken which was ok, I ate the rice, noodles and sauce but could not have eaten the chicken. The restaurant is black all round. Would never reccomend or go back.

Really great service and enjoyed the dishes too, but I couldn’t help thinking that there was too many menu options - maybe you could make a tally every day of which dishes get ordered and any that don’t (or not a lot) after a month, you remove from the menu? That way you’re not wasting ingredients or having to freeze and reheat, so you’re saving money and making the food at a better quality. I always worry when I see so many different choices because rightly or wrongly I think that they can’t possibly cook every single dish really well so I avoid so I don’t feel like I’m gambling on whether my meal is going to be good or not.

Great food and service was great. The biryani was a highlight as was the tandoori chicken. Would definitely recommend and will be back.

Fabulous Thai banquet for two. Comprehensive menu with choice of Thai or Indian. The banquet had a great range of tasty dishes. Service was excellent. Highly recommend.

First time visit but impressed. Wasn’t sure about Thai and India menu, but it works really well. Really enjoyed the Mintleaf special Thai main. Monday night so restaurant quite quiet but staff were really helpful and couldn’t do enough. Thanks.

We had some amazing Thai food at Mintleaf! The staff were very friendly, this was the best Thai food I have ever had! I would highly recommend you stop off at Mintleaf! Lots of options on the menu with Thai and Indian options! Located very close to the shore tram stop! 2 min walk so easy to get to and from!

We’ve been to this restaurant a number of times over the years and they serve the tastiest Indian food in Edinburgh. We took our parents for an early Mother’s Day meal tonight. We had a selection of curries, rice and naans and they were all yummy. Great quality ingredients and plenty of food. We took a doggy bag home. Staff are warm and friendly - a family atmosphere. Look forward to going back. A lovely part of the city too!

Lovely owners, always very hospitable and generous. They have a huge menu with great variety. Has been great each time we've gone in, have had some thai and indian dishes and both are equally as tasty.

First time at mint leaf. Lovely atmosphere in the restaurant . We ordered vegetable spring rolls,Thai fish cakes as a starter. Chicken galena massaging and pad king(a beefsteak fry with ginger, spring onions, vegetables and spices) egg fried rice and sweet potato fritters. Food was absolutely gorgeous. We had a bottle of the sauvignon blanc ,to accompany the meal. Perfect. Staff were polite, helpful. It was a busy Saturday night. Thanks to all the staff.We had Thai ,but you could have had Indian as well. Excellent choice of dishes

A lovely relaxed atmosphere with some of the most delicious currys I’ve had - we had Lamb Biryani and chilli garlic chicken with sweet naan, they were so delicious and fresh - this was our first visit but we’ll definitely be back. Service was attentive and everyone very friendly.

First time in mint leaf and had the banquet for 2. Loads of food, poppodoms and dips, really bid starter selection plate each, 3 mains, rice, popadom and rice refill. All was excellent quality and price very reasonable. Staff were lovely, and my son who popped in for a drink with us got a complimentary plate of 3 big bhajis, which he ate all of and enjoyed. We will be back soon.

Good food but - the most expensive curry I have ever had! For almost £50 each we could have eaten at the Michelin starred restaurant around the corner.

Came today at 4.30 , we were the only customers there, the server was very attentive and pleasant. My daughter and I really enjoyed the food, it was amazing. atmosphere was relaxing, we didn't feel rushed with our meal. Overall a extremely positive experience. We will be back soon.

The atmosphere inside is good. But the staffs seem to be rude and create artificial crisis by saying we’re fully booked. They asked for 15£ each just for reserving a table for 2. We didn’t reserve and called the next day whether we can come now, they said yes. While we were having dinner half the tables were empty and nobody came in 2 hours. They don’t serve you if you don’t order a main menu for each person. So if you’re not hungry enough, maybe it’s not for you. They were at the end kind enough to let us dine there. The wines tasted a bit more watery. I’m not a wine expert so don’t take my words on wine but it’s just what I felt. We took samosa takeaways but they tasted like frozen samosas. And you have to pay 10% extra for their service. Wow! Not a great experience. Update based on owners reply: This is exactly the kind of reply I was expecting. No wonder!

We were recommended by a work colleague to come here if you like hot curries. We reserved a table for 6 at 430 on a Thursday evening for a work celebration night. The restaurant was empty when we arrived. The staff were very friendly and inviting. We got our drinks orders in then had a round of poppadoms and dips to start. The menu is a mixture of traditional Indian curry and Thai curries. Same for the starters. I had Thai fish cakes to start and then a mild Thai curry with nan bread. The food was delicious and a step above normal curry. We had complementary onion bajias and mint green tea from the staff. Total bill was £170 for food and £56 for the drinks. All round great value for Edinburgh and gorgeous food. I can wholeheartedly recommend the Mintleaf, you won’t regret it.

Enjoyable meal for a work night out. The mix of Indian and Thai catered for all. Veg options available too. Flaovourable and filling. Perhaps missing a slight more spicyness about it. But good overall. Prices good for the food and drink.

Arrived on a business in Edinburgh. Tried nearby Indina this place. No one in the reasurant (red flag) should have walked away. However, was hungry and proceeded. The restuarant was freezing cold inside. No heating on and my feet were like iceberg!! Got my starter...

The location and service was great. The food was great, however I found the cost of the drinks was expensive, this makes £30 / person cost more like £40/ person.
