Lovely India food, good deals for lunch Mon to Fri, 12pm to 2pm at about £10 (as of 2024 Feb), nice & clean atmosphere. Mango Lassi, delicious as drink, about £4. Why not enjoy an afternoon break here with a friend or friends.

Nice flavoured dishes served. We had ordered lamb Rogan dosh, garlic naan, pilau rice, pappad came with a platter of dipping pickles,chicken tikkas. For drinks ordered two glasses of Montepulciano d`Abruzzo, I1 Faggio and 2 glasses of 2016 Picpoul de Pinet Coteaux du Languedoc, Baron de Badassière. Loved the taste and the service! Delighted to visit the place for dinner over good catch up with a friend.

I was getting some dinner to finish off my last night in edinburgh and I decided to give this place a try. At first I was excited and I placed my order, the waiter recommended a started and I said I didn’t know what it was and he said he would bring it for me to try I don’t know why I was under the impression that I wouldn’t be charged so seeing that on the bill was surprising since it was about 5£ but I’ll move on. I ordered the tikka masala which I’ve had many times at other indian restaurants and this time it tasted like coconut milk, no tomato or spice at all and when I asked if i could have something to make it a bit spicer the waiter just said “well tikka marsala is sweet” and shrugged me off. For the price the portion size was small. Obviously a lot of people like this place as you can see from the other reviews but this is just my experience. This was my most expensive meal in the city and it was by far the most disappointing as well.

Ronaq is a Pakistani restaurant masked as Indian. Food is nowhere like indian but a pakistani touch you can feel .

Lovely food! There was not a single bit of food I didn't enjoy. The butterfly prawn starter was brilliant. The Staff are very polite and clearly know the menu. Situated on a corner with huge windows gives a really open feeling to the restaurant and the decor is fresh and interesting. This one is worth a look up.

Benny was a friendly and professional waiter. We enjoyed our dinner and hope to return the next time we’re in Edinburgh.

Can’t recommend this restaurant highly enough! It’s nicely decorated with an extensive drinks and food menu (and plenty of options for vegetarians). We had a few entrees and sides and each dish was freshly prepared, unique, and delicious. The service was outstanding as well. A great neighborhood spot!

Typical menu options with a couple house specials. Food pricey but good portions; made for sharing. Unfortunately I was on my own. Quite away from the night time centre of Stockbridge which meant it was quieter.

With bling decor, the restaurant was very overheated and uncomfortably hot. The food and drink are overpriced and over-spiced...but not in a good way. Just overpowering chilli heat. My dish of lamb was about a third onions in an indistinguishable sauce. I couldn't taste any of the promised ginger and spices...just heat. My face was perspiring...and it was supposed to be a mild dish. My sister had lamb chops which she said were beautifully tender....but she couldn't taste anything except chilli! Both our sauces tasted the same..i.e. of nothing except chilli. My sister had to order a glass of milk to cool her mouth. Maybe a first for the restaurant...but definitely a first for her. We grew up in Malaysia and have been eating curries all of our lives. So we know that a curry should be bursting with flavours - not just chilli. I will never return to Ronaq and certainly would not recommend it.

I Ordered A Tandoori Mixed Grill, Chicken Puri And Lamb Chops. Everything Was Amazing. Great Taste And Fast Delivery. The Restaurant Gave Us A Portion Of Brown Rice For Free Which Was Very Sweet Of Them. My Daughter Is Gluten Free So She Chose The Rice Over The Chicken - Deffo Made Her Happy. Would Recommendation This Restaurant 💯 And Would Definitely Order Again.

We ordered a takeaway from here, it was our first experience and we will definitely be back. The food was exceptional, tasty, well cooked, arrived super fast and hot (temperature). I can't wait to try the other dishes they have to offer. This has to be hands down the best indian I've had.

We love Benny. We came here with expectations that were not too high but high enough given the 4.3 ratings. But wow. Really nicely decorated place. Clean! Spacious. Very helpful friendly staff. Oh and the food..... Delicious. Even the pickle tray has a unique sauce made with fruits. Mrs had king prawn kurma. Delicious. 5 v large prawns in a tasty sauce. I had kabuli gosht. This is my honest Review for Ronaq( Comely Bank ). I just ordered one Biryani and it test really bad. It's like white rice made day before and in morning fry with oil and added peace of chicken (although the chicken also Test less). Please improves some quality of food. It's totally waste my money

Quite disappointing overall, but as we are typically British we didn't mention this when we were there. We ordered two different mains to share which tasted the same - the overriding flavour simply being 'hot'.. to the point where we couldn't taste anything specific at all. We ordered a bhuna and a dansak - which shouldn't have been mouth burningly hot as we have these dishes regularly in other Indian restaurants back in Leicester. Even the saag paneer was really spicy, which we found bizarre as we have never experienced that before. We wouldn't go back and cannot fathom how it has won awards. This was particularly disappointing as we were on holiday, had walked 30mins to the restaurant and 30mins home and was to celebrate our anniversary.. not good. Never mind. You win some, you lose some.

This restaurant was recommended by the b&b owner we were staying at and it was an excellent choice. The staff were so friendly and attentive, and the food was gorgeous! It’s more expensive than a takeaway but the quality is so much nicer. Highly recommend it!

We had travelled from Australia to do the North Coast 500 and spent one night in Edinburgh. We needed an Indian experience after a long day of travelling and sightseeing and stumbled (lucked) across Ronaq on Craigleith Rd near where we were staying. We have tried an Indian at every city we have travelled to and none have come close to this one. The best Indian we have experienced in our travels as well as our home state. Do yourself a favour and don’t bother searching Google any further for anything better…you won’t find it. Ask for Benny as well and get the best service finished off with an after dinner mint with your bill. Brilliant. Thank you guys. 12/10 rating from us.

Hubby and I used to be big fans of Ronaq. So much so that we took out of town family and friends there, including for a 50th birthday. I even organised a Christmas lunch just pre-COVID for a large group of female friends. Recently however, we just don’t recognise the place. Our last two visits, one take away, one sit in, have been awful. Hugely over-spiced food; including yogurt/mint sauce that burned your mouth off, soggy mushroom pakora & rock hard veggie pakora in the same order, and tikka/tandoori dishes even my husband found hard to swallow. Being a bit of a korma girl, I couldn’t eat it at all. The only thing that was tolerable was the popadom. It was all SO hot. It’s such a pity, because their COVID compliance is really good (well apart from the one non-Indian behind the bar, who had no mask, yet is the one with the card machine) and as frontline healthcare workers, this is hugely important to us to protect our elderly patients. Sadly we won’t be back. When you pay restaurant prices for take away, you expect a higher standard than you’d get from a local take away, not lower. And I’m afraid that what we got was just not close to acceptable :(

Foods was really nice, been twice now after working nearby. Not too pricey. Service was also really good.

We got take out and was extremely disappointed with the quality of the food. The prawns in the prawn curry were so tiny, that dish should come with a magnifying glass. Plus it was tasteless. The tarka dhal tasted like it was 3 days old and about to turn. None of the dishes we ordered smelled or tasted fresh. We ordered chicken tikka masala and received the sweetest chicken korma instead. We will not be ordering from there again and definitely will not recommend to anyone either.

Visited last night for a meal to celebrate our Silver Wedding. The staff were fantastic and couldn't do enough for us. The food was oustanding, fresh and quality ingredients evident throughout our meals.For starters I chose the Butterfly King Prawns and my husband had chicken tikka, both dishes were full of flavour and the King Prawns are the biggest prawns I have ever eaten and cooked to perfection. My husband said his chicken tikka was delicious.Onto the main course, I had the King Prawn Bhuna and once again the prawns were large juicy and full of flavour. My husband had the Lamb Madras and raved about how tender the lamb was and full of flavour and spices. The cheese naan bread was first class. Empty plates all round.Thank you Ronaq for making out special day a meal and experience to remember.

We love Ronaq and booked it as we were staying at the Village Hotel which is just a 10 minute walk. Food is definitely a cut above, lovely service - and diligent attention to Covid procedures. This was the last saturday before Christmas which they said should be their busiest weekend of the entire year - but sadly cancellations and no shows had made it less than half full due to Covid.They were particularly grateful for us supporting them and not cancelling, and we had a lovely evening.Hope all improves soon for you guys - lovely restaurant...

Went to Ronaq with my wife. I have to say, from the moment we walked through the door, the service was exceptional. The food was very tasty and the environment in the restaurant is absolutely lovely. I can’t recommend this restaurant enough.

First time and will not be the last. My friend recommended it and we had an excellent meal. Food was delicious, huge menu to choose from, nice drinks list, beautiful decor and attentive staff. The restaurant manager was very pleasant and as it was my friends belated birthday he brought us a glass of complimentary prosecco and cake with sparkler, a really nice touch.. an absolutely brilliant restaurant....loved it

I ordered a take away last night which overall was fine except for the fact they forgot to add the poppadums and my vegetable korma which was a tad on the spicy side, which resulted in me leaving half it. So it's best to remind the restaurant you want it extremely mild to avoid disappointment.

Beautiful food. We booked online, the response was quick. The welcome was friendly and covid secure. My wife commented that this was the best chicken tikka masala she had ever had, we overheard the table next to us making a similar comment! We had the sharing platter starter for 2, to die for.

Followed several lucrative billboard ads for Ronaq business lunch down and along from the royal mile. Restaurant situated with a very nice view overlooking calton hill and the bridges. Door was wide open with no sign visible so I wander on in. First thing, I'm told in a rude tone of voice by the lady behind the bar that they are not open yet, I'm put into the corner of the lounge like a naughty schoolboy, told to wait and subsequently ignored. No drinks, no menu, nothing. Staff didnt look busy, just waiting around. Hung around for five minutes, then left feeling like I'd crashed someone's gig. Tried somewhere else...

We were staying at the caravan site and were reluctant to negotiate the Edinburgh traffic so we decided to get an Indian takeaway delivered. Our experience here was great from the beginning, a cheerful friendly phonecall, a helpful discussion on the options for food and agreement to deliver to the caravan site. We were promised delivery in half an hour and received it more or less on the dot. It would have taken us more time to drive for it and return. The food was very good, we had a mixed sharing platter, which was highly spiced, but not overly so, with a good range of flavours and generous portions of meat, followed by two lamb dishes, with the lamb Balti being a particular highlight. The garlic nan was also very good, as was the pilau rice. There were no disappointments at all in anything we ordered. Pricing for takeaway is 20% off restaurant prices, with free delivery, which placed it right at the top end of what we have ever paid for a takeaway - but we were on holiday and did not want to venture into a restaurant, so regarded it as worthwhile.

Fab food, friendly service, good price

We had family visiting us and took them here for dinner on a recomendation from friends.The staff were great and very helpful and the food was fab with the fish pakora a big winner . Everything was fresh and beautifully cooked . A great addition to our favourit places to eat.

Ronaq, Comely Bank was one of the best Indian restaurants in Edin. However the accountants appear to have taken over. I ate there last Saturday and was very disappointed; neither the nan nor the main dish were freshly made. My impression is that the kitchen is now full of microwaves to heat pre-prepared dishes. Until quality again overrules profit I will not recommend this restaurant!

We went to this restaurant on 26/06 from arriving to leaving everything was excellent Doug the maitre de was brilliant Q the waiter’s recommendations tasted delicious all in all a great evening. We will come again next time we are in Edinburgh.

Was recommended to visit here and enjoyed it. Staff were friendly but a bit forgetful ( didn’t tell us we had to view the menu on line). Also had trouble writing down the order so in the end the waiter sat down next to us whilst he finished writing on his pad - maybe he was tired! The food was very tasty and reasonable portion sizes. Would go back here.

Had a great meal, very good service, clean establishment, sadly this all went out the door when a family came into the restaurant, they were asked where they came from and proudly announced Glasgow, a tier 4 city where you cant leave, there was a quick look round before letting them in for a neal putting every other customer at risk, I hope your proud .... Fancy stooping to this level when you have such a fine restaurant. Will think twice about returning.

At £13.50/- the veg biryani is the priciest in Edinburgh, yet among the bottom in quality. I got one delivered via deliveroo. First red flag was that it arrived in 20-25 minutes from the time I placed the order. That is not enough time to prepare a proper authentic dish. What I ate was greasy rice with 8-10 pieces of big potatoes. Mushrooms, some random bits of okra, corn(!!!) And some pieces of carrot. Maybe a bean or two. This is NOT authentic Indian veg biryani. The Waitrose biryani at 5 quid offers way more value, taste and authenticity than this hodge-podge of a dish. It tasted like the chef had prepared it after making a meat dish. Entirely forgettable experience. Will not patronise them again.

I happened to visit this restaurant on 28/09 after 7 PM as I was invited to attend a Wedding Reception party. The ambience of the restaurant was very Impressive and the staff very courteous. We settled in at Tables waiting to be served food. We had starter that I must admit was well cooked and wholesome. We were then served main course that had Chicken Biryani, Saag Aaalu, Mutton Curry along with Naan Bread. The moment I started to eat the Rice dish( Chicken Biryani) I could feel that I am biting something weird and unnatural. I managed to stop chewing and carefully take out the hard substance that I kept chewing. To my horror it was a BIG Plastic piece that has been cooked with rice. Then I alerted my friends on the table to be watchful of what they eat as they may potentially find Plastic pieces in their meal. To my horror a friend of mine sitting opposite me showed up the Plastic piece he detected in his mouth. Then there was commotion as many other people found the same plastic shreds in their meal. The staff tried to explain that may be the Plastic pieces were mixed in the rice. I have never eaten at any restaurant during my lifetime where they served Plastic pieces mixed as a staple food. The Mutton curry cooked was very Watery with Oil floating on top of the bowls and tasted very stale. One word to sum it up DO NOT engage them for any parties , functions as these guys can put your health at risk to earn profit by serving you pathetic , stale and polluted food. Before we left we did bring this to the notice of the Manager of this restaurant. Avoid RONAQ !

El camarero parecía muy apurado, como si debería estar en otro lugar, y siguió bajándose la máscara para hablar. Nos sentimos muy apurados cuando tomó el pedido. Primero bebe: un Cobra y un Kir Royal, y pedí bocadillos y entrante tikka de pescado. Cuando llegó Cobra, no sabía a Cobra, pensé que era extraño. Tenía lúpulo, más parecido a una cerveza de trigo. No lo disfruté y me pregunté si en realidad era Cobra. El kir royal tenía muchos flotadores; convencí a mi otra mitad de que eran trozos de frambuesa que flotaban en él.El primer plato era aceptable, y tan pronto como comí el último bocado, el camarero entró y recogió la mesa. Esperaba que pronto llegara a donde necesitaba estar. Sin embargo, debo mencionar que el pescado tikka estaba delicioso y no necesitaba la ensalada floja al lado.Había pedido una botella de ros del menú y pedí que me la trajeran con el plato principal. Llegaron los platos principales: Lamb Bhuna y Lamb Karachi. . . sin vino. Ambas salsas eran idénticas, pero en platos de estilo diferente, y MUY saladas. . . Creo que alguien puede haber dejado caer accidentalmente una bolsa de sal en la olla. Apenas era comestible. ¡Pero seguí adelante! Fue una pena porque el cordero estaba suave y sabroso.Le pregunté al mesero apresurado por el vino y se fue a la barra y seguimos comiendo. . . . A la mitad de la comida, el gerente preguntó si estaba bien y yo dije: "¿Pedimos un ros?". Es extraño ver eso en un restaurante indio, pero era justo lo que a mi prometido le apetecía. Lástima que era un pastel seco comprado en la tienda, una botella exprimible con salsa de chocolate y un helado granulado lleno de cristales de hielo.La factura fue la mejor parte. . . Cuando el gerente se disculpó por no tener el vino que pedimos y nos trajo la mejor y más cara botella del menú, pensamos que se refería al mismo precio, tal vez solo éramos idiotas, pero ... . . Si hubiera querido ese vino del menú, lo habría pedido; creía que íbamos a obtener un "reemplazo de igual o mejor valor".El costo de la comida no fue ni de lejos una buena relación calidad-precio por la comida o el servicio recibido.He leído algunas reseñas de otros clientes igualmente insatisfechos con Ronaq, y el restaurante siempre responde: gracias por tomarse el tiempo para revisar, tomaremos en consideración sus comentarios, bla, bla, bla. . . . Este lugar no se preocupa por sus clientes, así que hazte un favor y ve a otro lugar.

Este lugar es genial. Cuando llegamos, el personal nos hizo sentir más que bienvenidos: amable, profesional y atento. Los entrantes eran preciosos, incluido el pescado, que fue el mayor éxito. Acabamos de cenar aquí y, ¡vaya! No puedo decir lo suficiente como recomendaría encarecidamente este restaurante.
