Ignite in Edinburgh, City of

Visited as part of a stag weekend. Fantastic welcome and the food was amazing. If you are in Edinburgh, I would definitely recommend. The staff were brilliant and the food was so tasty. Thank you

We chanced upon this restaurant on an unplanned evening, being an Indian as well as Bengali myself I was quite excited about the prospective dinner. Staff was extremely friendly and welcomed us with a smile, got us a table even though it was a busy Friday night. We orderd chciken dhansak, egg fried rice and aloo bhaji. Here’s my take on the food. The masala in the curries were undercooked and heavily tomato based (uncooked tomato) which is far from how Indian or Bengali curries are in general. The authentic dhansak curry is extremely aromatic with a variety of masala along with different kinds of lentils, and when fully cooked the lentils and the vegetables are completely mixed, none of which happened here. Similarly with aloo bhaiji, first of all Aloo Bhaja in Bengali means fried potato(either slices or small sizes), secondly even if this Aloo Sabji, the size of the potato (too large!) and the uncooked tomato (again too large pieces!) just threw me off completely. The chef should look into the cooking as this is far from authentic curries (to the other people who mentioned they have had a LOT OF CURRIES and this is the best curry - guess they never had a good Indian or Bengali curry). I want to reiterate in the fact that the staff was extremely courteous, welcoming and friendly, so 5 stars to the service. To the management and chef,I hope you do better with the food and ensure you are serving people authentic food since you are representing two extremely rich cusines , all Bangladeshi people I know happen to be amazing cooks, I am sure you can do better. All the best!

Perfect little Indian restaurant. Was delighted by the quality of food and service! My server was an amazing man who was surprised at me ordering a vindaloo! Absolutely brilliant place! Nice cozy and cosy even going by myself. Must try if you're in Edinburgh.

I had lunch here before the Scotland France 6 Nations match. It is conveniently situated near Haymarket station and is a great place to have a pre match lunch or post match dinner! Despite it being choc a bloc the staff were courteous professional and helpful. The food was authentic tasty and well presented. I would definitely cone again

I don’t want to recommend this place. The food was very disappointing.The cheese Nan wasn’t cheesy at all. Very overpriced and not tasty at all. The atmosphere is terrible.the next table was extremely loud we couldn’t even enjoy the drinks too.

Coming from Leicester I eat a few curries and I have to say this was one of the best 10/10.

Had a meal with my friends in ignite and it was absolutely delicious. I am always use to came here and never disappointed .Their foods are always great. Staff are very friendly and welcoming. My friend had chicken Jaipure as recommended waiter and he said best curry he had. Well done again ignite 👍

I don't even wanna give this restaurant one start.very arrogant and rude staff who don't have manner to talk with their costumer. Should appoint well trained staffs...This restaurant is very avaricious. All they care about is money.. every person needs to spend £18 even in group. We are not allowed to take a light meal.. Such a pathetic rule and when we tried to ask further about the rule he was like this is not a local restaurant behaving as if it was 7 star hotel and started to treat like no money then you can leave. What a of pathetic mannered staff.. -ve star for this restaurant

Food was excellent and flavoursome. The spicy fried aubergine was a particular hit. Service was also quick and efficient. 10/10

Prawn puree was amazing to start with, Chicken Jalfrezi was also delicious. Lovely welcoming staff and very friendly vibes. Special Fried Rice and Garlic Nan completed the evening meal. Would highly recommend in the Haymarket area and definitely will be back.

We had a very terrible experience in the restaurant. They have a policy of minimum order of £18 pounds in the evening. We wanted a light meal and ordered a small portion only. The guy taking the order did not have manner at all and the way he talked with us really surprised us. When we asked more about the policy and confronted him about the way he was speaking with us, he started talking about the cost and money for cleaning table clothes. We were shocked to get such a response. Terrible experience. The staff need to learn manners.

The staff was really rude to me and my family. When we ordered small meal he started talking about money.He said we are not allowed to order small meal and should order larger meal. He also told us that the restaurant spend so much money on cutlery and maintenance so you will need to order more food and cannot order small portion.. He said “we are not like other small restaurant ”. I don’t t know how some one just say they are big restaurant. He even point the menu lots of time said one person must spend more then 18 pounds and The way he spokes with us was really really rude and unexceptionable .We were shocked. Ignite is a lovely restaurant serving Bangladesh and Indian cuisine. Visited on spec on a Friday and a party of 8 could be accommodated. The food was truly delicious, with nobody disappointed, and the service was excellent too. Definitely recommended.

Despite not being here for a while, (as they no longer do lunches) we were warmly welcomed by Imran and the team. As ever, immaculate sparkling table, gentle professional service, and delicious food. Jahlfrieze king prawns were perfect, partner's chicken khani likewise. Nan was a bit different, pilau rice lovely, though a little light in portion size. Lunch deals were exceptional value, so did find the dinner prices quite high. However, guess you get what you pay for!

Best Indian food in Edinburgh. Delicious, flavourful, perfectly cooked starters and mains. The lamb kebabs in the non-vegetarian starter platter were perfectly seasoned, tender and succulent. Our mains were exceptional. Very generous portion sizes. Great place for a date night with brilliant service and relaxing atmosphere. Thank you very much, we will definitely be back soon.

Great ambiance, great food and service. The menu is extensive and being four of us we were able to experience eight different dishes, all of them excellent. Very reasonable prices.

I've been many times before, and the food is consistently good. Very busy at this time of year due to the festival but still able to get a table with no reservation. One quibble, we were asked if we wanted coffee at the end which I would normally not bother with however asked for an expresso this time. The chap put three spoons of nescaffe instant into a cup with a little water. Horrible and not what was asked for. He shouldn't be asking if they don't have...Left a nasty taste in the mouth (so to speak!)

I love this wee gem just round the corner from Haymarket station. The food was delicious and even on a busy evening the service was second to none. Special shout out to Mumtaz who looked after us all evening. Highly recommend for great tasting food and a warm welcome!

Avoid like the plague. Terribly rude staff, double booked, no apologies, did their best to ignore those who had booked but they’d places had been taken by others. Horrible experience. Used to be a great eatery with super polite staff. A disaster zone now.

Looking for a nice place to eat while visiting the city and we were drawn into here by the delicious smell. Staff where polite, food was excellent and the price was average. Definitely would recommend. The lamb Rogan Josh was amazing.

Aloo ghobi very bland. No spice at all. Mango chutney was runny.

What a fabulous place to go for a meal. We went before going to a football match and was a friendly atmosphere. Really nice and tasty food and great staff. Will be back again soon!

We were a group of 7 women who were full of nonsense but the staff took us in their stride food was delicious and plentiful and the servers were very patient about describing dishes and level of hotness.

Never order from here through just eat. Waited 30min after expected deliver, so 2hrs in total. Spent a further 30min while the restaurant blamed just eat and gave me their number, which is automated and sends you back to the app thus back to the restaurant, so round in circles. I’m short, if you’re a business who uses just eat and you can’t deliver the service come off just eat but don’t treat the customer like it’s not your responsibility and ‘who care’ attitude. I order through this app at least once a week and never had this experience. Shocking!

Walked in and asked if they do deserts, the very rude and grumpy man said no and walked us to the door. Asked to see a menu anyway and he escorted us to the front door with a takeaway menu. My client asked why they don't do desserts and the man said "that's none of your business". Worst customer service I've experienced. Been here with my family in the past and we will never return. Poor show

We happened across Ignite whilst out looking for dinner on Friday night. We had a great experience with wonderful food and service. Try the Murgh chicken, Sagaloo and chicken Jalfrezi, all were great.

Ordered on Just Eat and waited over an hour for the food delivery while delivery time was continually pushed back. Eventually I was told the order was cancelled by the restaurant and that the restaurant couldn't take more orders. Unacceptable

I have been to this Indian testaurant on numerous occasions. The welcome is always warm, the staff give great service without being intrusive and the food is consistently excellent! Can not recommend highly enough!

Our food was excellent, the service was top notch, the setting is pleasant. I had tandoori chicken and my husband had chicken saag. We also had garlic naan. I can’t recommend it enough! The portions were large, we could have easily shared a dish.
