Randomly looking somewhere to eat passed by at this restaurant, my partner loves indian food so we tried. Friendly and polite staff, we didnt book they’re not that busy and they welcomed us, it took 15mins and food is served. The fastest outside dinner we had 🤭 Higly recommend.

Food was very nice. The problem is waiter he is maybe Pakistani guy he’s behaviour is very bad without my permission. He touch my hand to see my watch and he’s saying to me is real or fake. I feel very embarrassed . Then I just eat food and leave the restaurant . Very very bad experience . I’m just trying to say to you, mate if you doesn’t have anything expensive in your life work hard, you can get it, but don’t judge the people . in this world some people have successful Courier in my age. thank you.

This is my favourite restaurant in Edinburgh. Excellent service and very tasty food with good sized portions. Just a great experience all round!

I asked the waiter if they had butter chicken, as it was not apparent on the menu, and he said "of course". I re-confirmed and he said "yes". When the dish arrived, it was more jalfrizi and certainly did not resemble butter chicken. I asked the waiter what it was and he said "butter chicken- the way they do it" which is complete nonsense. Go spend your money at a place that does not lie to you.

Fantastic food, great service. Portions were a very good size - two of us both had a main, but shared a side, a naan and a rice. The saag paneer was on a part with Kaani Kaana (rated best Asian takeaway in the UK!).

Very poor experience from a local restaurant which online ratings led us to believe would be good. A couple of weeks ago, after work, my partner and I decided to give a new Bengali/Indian restaurant a try during the middle of the week. We booked in advance to confirm use of a common offer available on Tastecard. Between two, we ordering a drink, a side, a large curry and two naans but the staff insisted we must order more to use it. They were rude and made us feel uncomfortable in an empty restaurant. We considered staying but didn’t want to order too much food so paid for a drink and left without ever trying it. Although living close by, we will not be returning to this restaurant. There are so many great places to eat only a short walk up Dalry Road or towards Lothian Road. There is no reason to treat anyone how they did us. I wonder whether this was because they expect customers to order alcohol and non-veg food for a few extra pennies?! A shame not to have tried out this local restaurant but we would have felt worse if we stayed.

They didnt let us come in because they said they dont have a seat for my 2 year old daughter. And they also said they didnt have a place for her buggy, which is foldable. they just didnt let us sit. we had to come out.

We chanced upon this restaurant on an unplanned evening, being an Indian as well as Bengali myself I was quite excited about the prospective dinner. Staff was extremely friendly and welcomed us with a smile, got us a table even though it was a busy Friday night. We orderd chciken dhansak, egg fried rice and aloo bhaji. Here’s my take on the food. The masala in the curries were undercooked and heavily tomato based (uncooked tomato) which is far from how Indian or Bengali curries are in general. The authentic dhansak curry is extremely aromatic with a variety of masala along with different kinds of lentils, and when fully cooked the lentils and the vegetables are completely mixed, none of which happened here. Similarly with aloo bhaiji, first of all Aloo Bhaja in Bengali means fried potato(either slices or small sizes), secondly even if this Aloo Sabji, the size of the potato (too large!) and the uncooked tomato (again too large pieces!) just threw me off completely. The chef should look into the cooking as this is far from authentic curries (to the other people who mentioned they have had a LOT OF CURRIES and this is the best curry - guess they never had a good Indian or Bengali curry). I want to reiterate in the fact that the staff was extremely courteous, welcoming and friendly, so 5 stars to the service. To the management and chef,I hope you do better with the food and ensure you are serving people authentic food since you are representing two extremely rich cusines , all Bangladeshi people I know happen to be amazing cooks, I am sure you can do better. All the best!

the delivery driver attitude was terrible, my order was 17.00 I gave him 20.00 easy 3 pound change he then preceeded to give my change in 5,10,20 I explained that I had a stroke and asked for coins instead he said no walked and I dropped the change which i wasn't able to pick up and lost a percentage of it, I use this service a lot and not happy

I had lunch here before the Scotland France 6 Nations match. It is conveniently situated near Haymarket station and is a great place to have a pre match lunch or post match dinner! Despite it being choc a bloc the staff were courteous professional and helpful. The food was authentic tasty and well presented. I would definitely cone again

I don’t want to recommend this place. The food was very disappointing.The cheese Nan wasn’t cheesy at all. Very overpriced and not tasty at all. The atmosphere is terrible.the next table was extremely loud we couldn’t even enjoy the drinks too.

I don't even wanna give this restaurant one start.very arrogant and rude staff who don't have manner to talk with their costumer. Should appoint well trained staffs...This restaurant is very avaricious. All they care about is money.. every person needs to spend £18 even in group. We are not allowed to take a light meal.. Such a pathetic rule and when we tried to ask further about the rule he was like this is not a local restaurant behaving as if it was 7 star hotel and started to treat like no money then you can leave. Prawn puree was amazing to start with, Chicken Jalfrezi was also delicious. Lovely welcoming staff and very friendly vibes. Special Fried Rice and Garlic Nan completed the evening meal. Would highly recommend in the Haymarket area and definitely will be back.

The staff was really rude to me and my family. When we ordered small meal he started talking about money.He said we are not allowed to order small meal and should order larger meal. He also told us that the restaurant spend so much money on cutlery and maintenance so you will need to order more food and cannot order small portion.. He said “we are not like other small restaurant ”. I don’t t know how some one just say they are big restaurant. He even point the menu lots of time said one person must spend more then 18 pounds and The way he spokes with us was really really rude and unexceptionable .We were shocked. We had a very terrible experience in the restaurant. They have a policy of minimum order of £18 pounds in the evening. We wanted a light meal and ordered a small portion only. The guy taking the order did not have manner at all and the way he talked with us really surprised us. When we asked more about the policy and confronted him about the way he was speaking with us, he started talking about the cost and money for cleaning table clothes. We were shocked to get such a response. Terrible experience. The staff need to learn manners.

Ignite is a lovely restaurant serving Bangladesh and Indian cuisine. Visited on spec on a Friday and a party of 8 could be accommodated. The food was truly delicious, with nobody disappointed, and the service was excellent too. Definitely recommended.

Despite not being here for a while, (as they no longer do lunches) we were warmly welcomed by Imran and the team. As ever, immaculate sparkling table, gentle professional service, and delicious food. Jahlfrieze king prawns were perfect, partner's chicken khani likewise. Nan was a bit different, pilau rice lovely, though a little light in portion size. Lunch deals were exceptional value, so did find the dinner prices quite high. However, guess you get what you pay for!

Best Indian food in Edinburgh. Delicious, flavourful, perfectly cooked starters and mains. The lamb kebabs in the non-vegetarian starter platter were perfectly seasoned, tender and succulent. Our mains were exceptional. Very generous portion sizes. Great place for a date night with brilliant service and relaxing atmosphere. Thank you very much, we will definitely be back soon.

I've been many times before, and the food is consistently good. Very busy at this time of year due to the festival but still able to get a table with no reservation. One quibble, we were asked if we wanted coffee at the end which I would normally not bother with however asked for an expresso this time. The chap put three spoons of nescaffe instant into a cup with a little water. Horrible and not what was asked for. He shouldn't be asking if they don't have...Left a nasty taste in the mouth (so to speak!)

I love this wee gem just round the corner from Haymarket station. The food was delicious and even on a busy evening the service was second to none. Special shout out to Mumtaz who looked after us all evening. Highly recommend for great tasting food and a warm welcome!

Looking for a nice place to eat while visiting the city and we were drawn into here by the delicious smell. Staff where polite, food was excellent and the price was average. Definitely would recommend. The lamb Rogan Josh was amazing.

It's a great place to stop for a curry. I wish I could stop for another one someday and try a different type.
