The lamb chops, mutton sheekh and the lamb nehari were absolutely delicious and we will definitely be popping in again to try out other dishes.

Very delicious food. We are the regular customers here since 2 year. I would say the Veg biryani here is the best in Edinburgh. We even tried the other famous Indian\Pakistani restaurant but this is the most recommended restaurant in Edinburgh. Curry tastes same as India. Being pure veg we have many options as well.

Took our 9 and a half month weaning infant for her first curry and the staff couldn't be more accommodating! (Even when she made a mess). Food was fantastic, service was brilliant and prices are great, especially for Edinburgh centre. Would consider travelling from Leeds just for this restaurant! (We will definitely be back!)

Been dining at Rustom and getting takeaways from there on a regular basis for about three years now. The quality of the food, service and atmosphere is consistently very high. It really is the best curry in Edinburgh! Its central location, handily right next to Haymarket station, is also a factor. For anybody visiting the city or just looking for a new place to try, this is a great shout.

The food was not bad but unfortunately the service was a bit disappointing.

Came in the evening on Christmas Day at 7.30 pm and the place was packed, we were given a table straight away. Menu was given promptly and food ordered within 10 minutes, had the masala fish starter and aloo chains chaat, fish was fantastic, the chaat was spicy. For mains we got pilau rice, tarka daal achari gosht and lamb karahi. The daal wasn’t as tasty as I’d hoped but everything else was fantastic. The service was brilliant. I would definitely come back when I come here again

We just went to "Rustom" for my Birthday Dinner after being treated rudely by staff of Omar Khayyam restaurant. We were really disappointed at that moment. But as soon as we entered "Rustom" we were welcomed very warmly and we offered to sit at a table which eventually made us happy to be treated well. We tried their Rustom special Mix Grill and Sindhi Biryani... Their Mix Grill was top notch... It was full of flavors and variety... Sindhi Biryani was good but it could be better I felt that there was more chicken than rice in the pot (me being a Rice Lover). It was enough for two persons. Overall food was amazing. For desserts we ordered 4 Layer chocolate Fudge Cake and Gulab Jamun, They both were delicious. The ambiance was very nice and staff was very friendly. We were served by the staff member named "Prashad" who was a very hospitable and a nice guy, he took care of us throughout our dinning in a very friendly manner. He kept asking if we are ok with everything and needed something. Overall it was a Great Experience after being disappointed by earlier restaurant. It's our go to place now.

We went to this restaurant for lunch and had made a reservation for a table of six. However, when we arrived, the table they had arranged was very small and too cramped for six people. We raised this concern with the staff, but their response, especially from the manager, was not polite. Although there were other free tables available, the manager did not offer us another one. On a positive note, the food was not bad.

when we requested a change in seating due to discomfort, the manager behaved poorly and showed no willingness to accommodate us. The table we were assigned was extremely cramped, leaving hardly any room to place our food comfortably. While the flavors and quality of the food were commendable, the overall experience was overshadowed by the lack of customer care, congested seating, and poor management. A more attentive approach and better communication could greatly enhance the dining experience.

The service here was very prompt and friendly. The menu is very varied including a large vegetarian section and good drink offerings, including draft beer. The poppadoms and pickle tray was excellent, as was the chilli garlic paneer and both the garlic and peshwari naans. The gol gappa (panipuri) weren’t great but that was our only real complaint. This is a good solid spot for a curry and is reasonably priced.

The food was amazing and the most prominent thing is that Ajeet treated us well.

Had an amazing experience at Rustom. And Sushant is amazing at making people feel homely. If you want to taste some of the best Indian cuisine dishes, come here.

The food is decent but the staff are weird and there is this guy waiter who acts like he knows everything and talk fights with costumers

This place was recommended by our Uber driver and was told it is one of the best. Everything was perfect from the moment we walked in until we left the restaurant. The service team, the food and drinks was phenomenal! Dare I say it was one of the best restaurant I've ever dined in! Both my wife and I loved every bit of experience here! Definitely will recommend to others and return if we're back in Edinburgh. Keep up the good work!

It's my favourite and has been for a few years. Great selection of tasty starters with mango and lime chicken tikka and lahori masala fish among my favourites and garlic chilli chicken or pathia with garlic naan for main. Reliably Fabulous

The Karak Chaii is the best in the whole of the UK, The Bread especially the Paratha is better than any bread ever. The foood is fresh and delicious, Ajeet is friendly and welcoming, a great front for this great restaurant. This is my second time and I will surely be back.

Myself and a friend attended Rustom for dinner on Saturday night. While the food was lovely, I feel the service was of of some concern Upon arrival and I asked to double check where we were sitting, as it was busy and wanted to make sure I received a slightly rude reply in response from the person who welcomed me Also while I understand that it was a busy Saturday night I feel we were being rushed simply because we were a table of two. Our booking was for seven o’clock and we were out the door by ten past eight. Furthermore I wished to try the lamb paya. I was informed by the server that this dish wasn’t for me and was for Asian customers only, and that I wouldn’t like it. Now while I understand some restaurants do have separate menus for specific clientele, if that is indeed the case then I feel it shouldn’t be on the main menu for people to pick from and to be told by a waiter that they won’t like it. If that’s the case a waiter should simply explain that it’s for specific customers only, and not inform a customer that they won’t like it before they’ve tried it We also ordered a desert to share between us. The first one was out of stock and we were informed. The second one we ordered was also out of stock however nobody informed us resulting in us waiting for no reason for twenty minutes before we were informed that it was out of stock, during which time, if we had been informed, we might have chosen something else As I say the food we did have was very nice but I don’t know if it was just a bad night, but truthfully I feel like I won’t be hurrying back

Amazing environment staff and the owner.

Enjoyed the matar paneer and garlic naan. The mixed grill which I was looking forward to was under spiced and over cooked. It was not as I’d have preferred but was ok.

The food here is superb and the service is outstanding. The waiters and waitresses are very welcoming and they recommend you what to get if you don’t know what to eat. I’d like to commend this particular waiter, namely Prashant, for amazing service. The food was outstanding. I had some Chicken Karahi and some garlic naan. The flavours came together like a symphony. This place is must try. 10/10

As recommended by female employee, we tried their Chicken Karahi. It was delicious, mellow with authentic flavors, while the lamb chops, with their smoky charred flavor, were an absolute must-try. The Karachi masala fish was deep fied fish which alright. Prashant provided friendly and attentive service, ensuring a great dining experience throughout. Definitely worth a visit!

i’ve never had such bad food in my life!!! went there for sunday dinner after looking at all the reviews but honestly i was sooo disappointed, the food was a 1/10, it wasn’t fresh.. the mixed grill tastes like it was 3 days old, the kababs and lamb peices had such a bad taste you know the taste when the food is quite old and how can i forget!! my whole family got a really bad stomach right after eating that meal. i would never visit this restaurant again and would never recommend it to anyone. its just built nicely but the food is pathetic

Had a delicious dinner here. The saag paneer was rich and full of flavor. The staff was fast and responsive. Kush was great at making suggestions to help me enjoy my meal.

Went for dinner for my wife's birthday. Staff were very friendly and accommodating as we had brought our 10 month old daughter. We ordered the mixed grill, tandoori roti and lamb karahi. The karahi tastes amazing really well spiced. The mixed grill was also very good and had a good mix of chicken, kebabs and lamb. Overall the food, atmosphere and service was amazing. Would go back again.

This is the second time I’ve experienced this pathetic service. The first time, I came alone and thought maybe it was normal for them to treat customers this way, but I realized how wrong I was when I mentioned that the food was too spicy, and they replied, “We make it normal because we thought you were ‘Desi’ and could handle it.” I was stunned into silence after hearing that. Today, I went in with a friend and asked for a table for two. They seated us, and within what felt like just three minutes, the attendant came over asking what we wanted. I told him to give us a minute, as I was explaining our local menu to my friend. The attendant then said, “You need to be quick. Our tables are booked, and we need this one back by 8 PM.” I couldn’t believe the rudeness. I told him it was inappropriate to seat us without mentioning any time restrictions, and now they were rushing us to order and leave. His response? He said, “You can speak in Urdu.” I was shocked. I’ve worked 10 years in five-star hotels in both F&B and front office management, and I have never seen such terrible service. I believe they treat foreigners differently, which is why no one seems to complain. But this is my second bad experience in one month, and I will ensure that none of my acquaintances visit this place again.

Really good authentic food. Great flavours. Felt rushed. Unusually small curry sauce with meal. Asked for another or a top up but wanted to charge £6.95 extra. Ran out of sauce for meal half way through.

We arrived at Rustom without a booking & were offered a table for 2 immediately. The table was to the left just inside the door & the space was quite cramped (when 2 other people were offered the table beside us he had trouble getting into his seat which resulted in him knocking my partners chair). There was space in the restaurant & the friendly waiter offered him & his friend an alternative table, if there had been no space this would have made the dining experience fairly uncomfortable. We were given adequate time to make our choices for drinks & food. The food arrived & the chicken karahi had way too much oil on top (I appreciate this may be the authentic way to cook but this is not heart healthy) it also lacked flavour as did the gobi aloo side & some of the gobi was a bit too al dente. Serving spoons & pickle had been forgotten but this was rectified after a few crossed wires. Pudding was 4 layered chocolate fudge cake which had been heated up..... not good & the malai kulfi was in my opinion excessively price based on its size (overheads etc I know affect cost however this is financial abuse). The restaurant itself was on the cold side & the heating could do with being adjusted a few degrees. Our bill arrived without being asked for which showed good awareness on the waiters part (as we were waiting to get someone's attention) however no thanks for payment or tip (yes we did tip in spite of mediocre tasting food as waiting staff are poorly paid). We come from the UK's balti belt which has outstanding food & restaurants sadly this meal left a bad taste in our mouths.

We went for a quick lunch at Rustom as we were in rush to catch train. The staff (Prashant ) was very curtious that he assured us that food will be served we don't have to worry. As per our preferences he recommended to have Chicken Karahi as we were looking for some spicy chicken curry - and it was really delicious. We had it Garlic Naan and never expected Naan to be so big. He told us that we should only order 1 it should be enough for both of us. And he was right. We also had Sindhi Biryani - this was our first time trying Sindhi Biryani and it was really good too. Chicken was soft and esp curry was hitting on all nodes. Would really recommend this one to anyone who want to have Indian food in Edinburgh. If you are in Haymarket area - I would say it is a must try place. It is a steal at the prices considering their prices for the kind of service, delicious food and amazing ambiance they are offering.

Yesterday i visited the restaurant with my friends for dinner. we were warmly welcome .The ambiance of Restaurant is sophisticated and attractive, combining modern and traditional aspects. With its beautiful furnishings, cozy seating, and soft lighting, the interior design is very classic. we ordered lamb karahi hats off to the chef. we had the best food in Edinburgh. best quality service. five star to Service.

I have now been 4 times and every time the food gets better. Me and my partner found this restaurant by mistake at the fringe festival last year and the food was so good we have travelled back for the soul purpose to get dinner here from Paisley to Edinburgh Last time we were In, I went with my mum and fiance, we ordered the seekh kabab karahi, the lamb biriyani, the lamb shank nehari and pashwari naan. With popadoms to start, we also had a bottle of the house merlot. It was absolutely amazing. We all agreed it was the best curry we've ever eaten, I was surprised when my mum said it as she has been to sri lanka and ate curry for breakfast lunch and dinner. Also for those wines snobs, although the wine is quite nice, they do BYOB so you can pick a bottle of your favourite £20 bottle of red of a bottle of champagne and enjoy it with your curry at just a small corkage price.... actually such a nice touch

A bit disappointed. Very busy place but it just didn't click with me. The service was good but I thought some of the dishes served contained more sauce than actual food. BYB was a bonus but I'm afraid I won't return.
