The food here is amazing and authentic and the service is outstanding. The waiters are very friendly and I’d like to commend this particular waiter,named Prashant, for great service. The food has been brilliant every time and especially the 3 course menu which is great value for money. This place is a must try!

Myself and a friend attended Rustom for dinner on Saturday night. While the food was lovely, I feel the service was of of some concern Upon arrival and I asked to double check where we were sitting, as it was busy and wanted to make sure I received a slightly rude reply in response from the person who welcomed me Also while I understand that it was a busy Saturday night I feel we were being rushed simply because we were a table of two. Our booking was for seven o’clock and we were out the door by ten past eight. Furthermore I wished to try the lamb paya. I was informed by the server that this dish wasn’t for me and was for Asian customers only, and that I wouldn’t like it. Now while I understand some restaurants do have separate menus for specific clientele, if that is indeed the case then I feel it shouldn’t be on the main menu for people to pick from and to be told by a waiter that they won’t like it. If that’s the case a waiter should simply explain that it’s for specific customers only, and not inform a customer that they won’t like it before they’ve tried it We also ordered a desert to share between us. The first one was out of stock and we were informed. The second one we ordered was also out of stock however nobody informed us resulting in us waiting for no reason for twenty minutes before we were informed that it was out of stock, during which time, if we had been informed, we might have chosen something else As I say the food we did have was very nice but I don’t know if it was just a bad night, but truthfully I feel like I won’t be hurrying back

I went yesterday during rugby, despite the fact that the restaurant was so busy the service i received i was amazing. All of the staff were so lovely and food was amazing!

Enjoyed the matar paneer and garlic naan. The mixed grill which I was looking forward to was under spiced and over cooked. It was not as I’d have preferred but was ok.

The food here is superb and the service is outstanding. The waiters and waitresses are very welcoming and they recommend you what to get if you don’t know what to eat. I’d like to commend this particular waiter, namely Prashant, for amazing service. The food was outstanding. I had some Chicken Karahi and some garlic naan. The flavours came together like a symphony. This place is must try. 10/10

Had dinner with my best friend this weekend and it was brilliant. We were traveling from Manchester. We were Trying to find a best place for dinner. Luckily we found the best place. Food was delicious and there were so many options on the menu. Employees were super polite and friendly giving us suggestions and helping us pick from the menu. Must try chicken karahi and kabab. Naan was so amazing . Truly amazing dinner experience.

As recommended by female employee, we tried their Chicken Karahi. It was delicious, mellow with authentic flavors, while the lamb chops, with their smoky charred flavor, were an absolute must-try. The Karachi masala fish was deep fied fish which alright. Prashant provided friendly and attentive service, ensuring a great dining experience throughout. Definitely worth a visit!

i’ve never had such bad food in my life!!! went there for sunday dinner after looking at all the reviews but honestly i was sooo disappointed, the food was a 1/10, it wasn’t fresh.. the mixed grill tastes like it was 3 days old, the kababs and lamb peices had such a bad taste you know the taste when the food is quite old and how can i forget!! my whole family got a really bad stomach right after eating that meal. i would never visit this restaurant again and would never recommend it to anyone. its just built nicely but the food is pathetic

Had a delicious dinner here. The saag paneer was rich and full of flavor. The staff was fast and responsive. Kush was great at making suggestions to help me enjoy my meal.

I came with my family members and i tried some desi foods like chicken karahi and miss Grill both taste was very delicious and also perfect environment. Food quality was also perfect and worth it.

Went for dinner for my wife's birthday. Staff were very friendly and accommodating as we had brought our 10 month old daughter. We ordered the mixed grill, tandoori roti and lamb karahi. The karahi tastes amazing really well spiced. The mixed grill was also very good and had a good mix of chicken, kebabs and lamb. Overall the food, atmosphere and service was amazing. Would go back again.

This is the second time I’ve experienced this pathetic service. The first time, I came alone and thought maybe it was normal for them to treat customers this way, but I realized how wrong I was when I mentioned that the food was too spicy, and they replied, “We make it normal because we thought you were ‘Desi’ and could handle it.” I was stunned into silence after hearing that. Today, I went in with a friend and asked for a table for two. They seated us, and within what felt like just three minutes, the attendant came over asking what we wanted. I told him to give us a minute, as I was explaining our local menu to my friend. The attendant then said, “You need to be quick. Our tables are booked, and we need this one back by 8 PM.” I couldn’t believe the rudeness. I told him it was inappropriate to seat us without mentioning any time restrictions, and now they were rushing us to order and leave. His response? He said, “You can speak in Urdu.” I was shocked. I’ve worked 10 years in five-star hotels in both F&B and front office management, and I have never seen such terrible service. I believe they treat foreigners differently, which is why no one seems to complain. But this is my second bad experience in one month, and I will ensure that none of my acquaintances visit this place again.

We arrived at Rustom without a booking & were offered a table for 2 immediately. The table was to the left just inside the door & the space was quite cramped (when 2 other people were offered the table beside us he had trouble getting into his seat which resulted in him knocking my partners chair). There was space in the restaurant & the friendly waiter offered him & his friend an alternative table, if there had been no space this would have made the dining experience fairly uncomfortable. We were given adequate time to make our choices for drinks & food. The food arrived & the chicken karahi had way too much oil on top (I appreciate this may be the authentic way to cook but this is not heart healthy) it also lacked flavour as did the gobi aloo side & some of the gobi was a bit too al dente. Serving spoons & pickle had been forgotten but this was rectified after a few crossed wires. Pudding was 4 layered chocolate fudge cake which had been heated up..... not good & the malai kulfi was in my opinion excessively price based on its size (overheads etc I know affect cost however this is financial abuse). The restaurant itself was on the cold side & the heating could do with being adjusted a few degrees. Our bill arrived without being asked for which showed good awareness on the waiters part (as we were waiting to get someone's attention) however no thanks for payment or tip (yes we did tip in spite of mediocre tasting food as waiting staff are poorly paid). We come from the UK's balti belt which has outstanding food & restaurants sadly this meal left a bad taste in our mouths.

Really good authentic food. Great flavours. Felt rushed. Unusually small curry sauce with meal. Asked for another or a top up but wanted to charge £6.95 extra. Ran out of sauce for meal half way through.

We went for a quick lunch at Rustom as we were in rush to catch train. The staff (Prashant ) was very curtious that he assured us that food will be served we don't have to worry. As per our preferences he recommended to have Chicken Karahi as we were looking for some spicy chicken curry - and it was really delicious. We had it Garlic Naan and never expected Naan to be so big. He told us that we should only order 1 it should be enough for both of us. And he was right. We also had Sindhi Biryani - this was our first time trying Sindhi Biryani and it was really good too. Chicken was soft and esp curry was hitting on all nodes. Would really recommend this one to anyone who want to have Indian food in Edinburgh. If you are in Haymarket area - I would say it is a must try place. It is a steal at the prices considering their prices for the kind of service, delicious food and amazing ambiance they are offering.

With its beautiful furnishings, cozy seating, and soft lighting, the interior design is very classic. we ordered lamb karahi hats off to the chef. we had the best food in Edinburgh. best quality service. five star to Service.

I have now been 4 times and every time the food gets better. Me and my partner found this restaurant by mistake at the fringe festival last year and the food was so good we have travelled back for the soul purpose to get dinner here from Paisley to Edinburgh Last time we were In, I went with my mum and fiance, we ordered the seekh kabab karahi, the lamb biriyani, the lamb shank nehari and pashwari naan. With popadoms to start, we also had a bottle of the house merlot. It was absolutely amazing. We all agreed it was the best curry we've ever eaten, I was surprised when my mum said it as she has been to sri lanka and ate curry for breakfast lunch and dinner. Also for those wines snobs, although the wine is quite nice, they do BYOB so you can pick a bottle of your favourite £20 bottle of red of a bottle of champagne and enjoy it with your curry at just a small corkage price.... actually such a nice touch

A bit disappointed. Very busy place but it just didn't click with me. The service was good but I thought some of the dishes served contained more sauce than actual food. BYB was a bonus but I'm afraid I won't return.

It’s been three days we are in Edinburgh we have tried multiple Pakistani restaurants don’t fall into review scores of other Pakistani restaurants 😀 believe me Ruston restaurant is a real gem. The food was amazing just love it

Visited Rustom with a friend on his recommendation while I was on a visit to the city. It was priced around £30 pp. We arrived without a booking and were greeted and promptly sat on a table by the window. Unfortunately there was a significant shake to this whole area of the restaurant due to an ventilation or somthing similar as informed by the staff. We asked to be moved and were eventually sat in on a table away from the shaky area after 2 moves. The food itself was okay but felt like it was missing somthing in terms of flavour. It's a shame since a great meal could have turned around the whole experience which on the whole was a bit disappointing.

Today I came to Edinburgh for conference and thought of tasting Indian food. I order from this restaurant allu mutter and these ch folks used some meat curry and mixed it with Allu mutter. I am vegetarian and because of content of meat item, i m not feeling well. Avoid this restaurant as much as possible especially if you are vegetarian.

Extremly greedy, unwelcoming,unaccomodative,impatient and rude head waiter/manager. I visited this restaurant along with family for evening dinner. We were waiting for an other family to join us who were on their way and less than half hour away. We informed the lead waiter about it and requested to give us table of 8 for both families(including 4 of us already there).I also informed him clearly that we're sure they'll definitely be here soon till the food cook/prep. time and we'll order now for all i.e. both families. We had flight in few hours and no intention to keep waiting.It was 6 pm yet ,a quite early time for dinner,not a busy time and only leass than 1/4 of restaurant was occupied yet, more than 50 seats still available and most not reserved at all.The head waiter refused to give us table of 8,started making faces, showing gestures,talking sarcastically in urdu as we were talking in urdu,advising me to either wait outside and come again with all or sit on table of 4 and order immediately without delay. The explanation he gave was, it's their business time as there is some sports/match today,he'll give seats only to the people coming there and can't reserve seats for my guests, although a lot of seats yet available. I told him that I should have pre booked but you still have a lot of seats and it'll give bad impression that there are no seats when my guests arrive. But rather than accommodating, he continued his gestures,advising my family to go to other restaurant,one across the road Omer Khayyam,saying that is always empty and available.I left, just said to him politely you need to be bit patient and welcoming. We went to Omer Khayyam, they were already full but they asked us to wait and they'll accommodate us.They treated us very well,altough other family took 15-20 min to arrive, although their food was average grade.

My second visit to this excellent restaurant. The food is great, all of our party of six for lunch yesterday were delighted with their meals. What stands out, though, is the efficiency and hospitality of a great team of staff.

After two evenings of English food, we were in need of Asian Curry and Food. On recommendation of our cab driver, we decided to have early dinner at Rustom Restaurant. Great atmosphere, mouth watering food and excellent customer services. We wend for early dinner so accommodated but advance booking of table is recommended. Good Food.

As a British Pakistani I can say the food was spot on and authentic. The Haleem was delicious and flavoursome - would highly recommend, as was the chicken karahi and pillou rice. We also ordered mango lassi, the fish pakoras, aloo chat, garlic naan and mixed grill. The mixed grill was the only food that was slightly disappointing, it wasn’t as well flavoured as the other dishes and the meat was a bit dry. The karaq chai we ordered at the end was also very well done. The overall atmosphere was very nice - decor and seating very elegant and service was fast and staff attentive. A place I would recommend for authentic Pakistani/Indian cuisine.

An Indian restaurant that is second to none, especially the Karahi meat dish served to you in a saj dish. It is worth returning to again. We hope that the management will open a branch for them in London.

If you’re in Edinburgh, then it’s a must to try! I highly recommend this restaurant to be a part of your plan. We came in here twice during our visit. The butter chicken and the vegi Samosa are the BEST. Speaking of the service, Ajeet and Sunny, were so much kind with us. We ordered a wrong dish, and we didn’t realise it was wrong until after tasting it. We shyly talked to them to replace the dish, and they were more than happy to replace it to what we want! Their hospitality and generosity are in a different level 💯.
