Well this was a nice experience.. but now they are closed...

Just have a beer but it is a very authentic bar.

This is an ok pub. It is clean and friendly and has a selection of beers etc. It has a pool table in one of the bars. Staff are friendly. Pub is dog friendly as well.

Not great, me and 4 pals popped in for a pint as part of a tour round the pubs in Southampton, and this was our first stop and by far the worst. Although the landlord seemed ok, the locals were unfriendly, pub freezing, and dirty! I won't be returning.... We found much better elsewhere....

Came in for a pint to watch a world cup game as a group of 5 and the pub looked nice and cosy. No working lights in the women's toilets unfortunately. On the way out, we were harassed and told to go back to "ironing and knitting", rare to experience blatant sexism! 😂 Unfortunate that the customers going here think that it's acceptable to antagonise strangers

First time, I ever walked in the pub was last week.. Guy singing ( Russ) was awesome! The bar staff were also awesome. Not busy, but was a Thursday after all. And never having seen me before made me feel very welcome indeed. And will hopefully be going back there on a regular basis. As a female who isn't keen on pub ing on my own? Safe I'd a word I would.use for this place.

Came across the Juniper Berry by chance Friday night whilst visiting Southampton and so glad we did. Great friendly welcome and had a fun night listening and then even dancing to good music. Thank you Juniper staff for such a night to remember when I go back to Portugal

Used to drink there 40 years ago. It's changed a bit, went there for a few drinks with friends, good evening, will be going back.

Lovely on the outside, was expecting a bit nicer inside. Place looks a bit rough on the inside, including some of the regulars.

Lo siento, estoy recordando nuestra última vez en el JB. Tenía un escenario donde los artistas drag hicieron un giro. Estos fueron los días en que PIRA bombardeó pubs en el Reino Unido (1974) cuando dos tipos entraron, tomaron una copa y luego se fueron. Uno había dejado una caja de zapatos en una bolsa de transporte. Se alertó al arrendador quien, ebrio, recogió la bolsa, le dijo a alguien que estaba junto a la puerta que la abriera y la arrojó afuera. Plod apareció rápidamente y le dijo a 200 borrachos que se apartaran de las ventanas. Los 2 chicos regresaron y preguntaron dónde estaban los zapatos sorpresa de su esposa. ?

Habitación muy básica, bastante destartalada: sábanas finas, alfombras finas, toallas viejas y rayadas, el baño / ducha más pequeño que no tenía espacio para un lavabo, así que estaba en el dormitorio y daba la impresión de una pequeña cama. . . y 2 de cada 3 ventanas no se cerraron correctamente y el control remoto del televisor no funcionó. La calefacción fue bastante baja después de las 11 pm, pero se estaba calentando nuevamente a las 6 am y el edredón era bastante grueso y cálido (probablemente debido a la situación de la ventana). La cama era sorprendentemente cómoda, aunque tuve que dormir al revés, ¡así que no conseguí un cuello crujiente por el tiro! No estoy seguro de que sea un edificio protegido ni nada, pero es de vidrio simple y tiene una placa en el exterior que dice que era el sitio de la casa de Jane Austen. PERO era 35 por amor de Dios, así que cualquiera que se queje en este sitio y reciba reembolsos tal vez necesite pensar en el término "obtén lo que pagas", ya que la estadía me salvó de un comienzo MUY temprano desde Londres. El personal fue absolutamente encantador y amable y me ayudó con un mapa (el doble que perdí el primero) y me ayudó a encontrar todos los lugares a los que tenía que ir. La calle principal está literalmente a 1 minuto a pie y puedes ver el complejo comercial / restaurante West Quay a través de las antiguas murallas de la ciudad desde la ventana. La camarera me dejó usar la cocina para calentar mi comida para llevar, que estaba fría cuando regresé después de un desvío a pie. El pub cierra a las 10 pm, así que no te preocupes por que sea demasiado ruidoso a mitad de semana y hay una pequeña terraza en la azotea para fumadores y está en el mismo nivel que las habitaciones. Tenga en cuenta que solo hay 3 espacios pagables para máquinas de estacionamiento afuera y tuve la suerte de obtener uno de esos para un billete de cinco ya que me iba antes de las 8 a.m. (estacioné alrededor de las 4 p.m.). De lo contrario, el más cercano es un NCP, por lo que probablemente sea bastante caro, así que estacione allí. Así que ahí está, si vas a reservar, ¡solo piensa por qué lo obtuviste por la mitad del precio de cualquier otro lugar en el centro de la ciudad!

Grim side entrance to hotel, rooms dated, noisy inefficient macerator toilets, this really is a last resort place to get a room!

Run down and very dusty. Unpleasant language from a couple of locals. Not pleasant

Beer good and staff friendly. Popular with a 65th birthday taking place in one of the bars and people were enjoying themselves. This may have been the cause, or possibly the premier league football nearby earlier in the day, but the toilets were awash with liquid and obviously not checked very often by the staff. Put us off having a second pint and we headed down the road to Titanic instead.

Rented the function room for our wedding reception. Very helpful staff which helped make the day. Thanks.

An ancient, cozy place (pub with overnight stay) in a top location in Southampton. Nearby: ultra-modern shopping and entertainment centers and the football stadium.

This is a great old Southampton pub located on the old walls. It has a very interesting history and it deserves a visit either as a local pub user or a tourist to the city

We chanced upon the Juniper Berry while walking the walls of old town and it was probably the best find of our two night visit in Southampton. Great atmosphere, friendly patrons, good choice of beverages. If you are lucky enough to visit when Fiona (one of the owners) is on duty you will certainly enjoy your visit. She is a jewel.

We stayed here one night. We found the pub warm and welcoming with friendly staff and locals. It's in a very good location for exploring the Old Town. Our room was cosy and warm, but the plumbing - not through our misuse of it - was a bit temperamental. The landlord was very apologetic. They do not offer breakfast but there are some very good cafes with a couple of minutes walk.

Durante mi estadía en el cercano Travelodge, visité todos los pubs locales, incluido este, el más tranquilo. Muy pocos entraron, pero eran amigables, y me encontré charlando con ellos y con la simpática camarera, una estudiante. El ambiente era muy acogedor. El atractivo exterior del pub se combinaba con un lujoso diseño Mock Tudor en el interior. Los clientes jugaban grandes éxitos del alma en el dukebox digital, por lo que el ambiente era bueno. Bebí el Razorback de Ringwood Brewery, un muy buen 3. 8% de cerveza marrón. Mi única crítica sería que la alfombra estaba un poco sucia, pero ya era bastante tarde.

This place has an interesting history. I'm 66 now and when I was a boy I used to hear that strange things used to go on here.

The bar manager was very helpful.We also had a warm welcome from her. We stayed overnight. No complaints.

Llegamos tarde después de un viaje en coche de 3 horas y recibimos una cálida bienvenida. Nos alojamos en una habitación de cinco camas que estaba limpia y atmosférica. El personal del bar era encantador y acogedor, y mi hijo de 8 años bailaba un poco con ellos con la música.El baño estaba un poco anticuado pero bien abastecido de champú, toallas, etc.¡Un precio de ganga para una noche de descanso muy confortable!

Friendly enough spot just off the main street

NO onsite parking as advertised. Street parking is £2 an hour IF you can find somewhere. The shower room is so small you have to sit on the toilet with the door open & the basin is in the bedroom. It shows the sort of client the place is used to by the tatty piece of A4 paper on the bedroom wall inform us of the drug intolerance policy. Our room is opposite the router but the WiFi works only if we leave the bedroom door open; we wouldn’t usually be on the WiFi but the pub closed at 9.30 this evening. Serves us right for a last minute booking. Awful.

Very nice but simple hotel. Centrally located. You should look for a parking space in one of the surrounding parking garages. Downtown, restaurants and water within walking distance. The room was clean. We didn't notice much from the staff. A bit noisy. We were satisfied. No breakfast. Card payment possible.

We visited the Juniper Berry both days we were in Southampton. The bartenders, Paddy and Daisy, were wonderful. We had a very enjoyable time. The pub is located on a little side street tucked away. Very nice place to stop.

We came to Britain to find a beautiful old pub and this is perfect. We are staying here the rooms are nice size large bathroom and fantastic ambience. The Best sense of Britain that I can for.

Nice place to stay and very convenient. They have a bar underneath and they are also right beside a large shopping mall. You can also park in front of it or they have complimentary parking in the back of hotel (limited spots)

Very welcoming and friendly, great place for price. Good location. Beds were uncomfortable though and i could feel the springs.

If you like hotels in old building you can try, but beds are uncomfortable, and no aircondition, so it's your own risk...

Stayed here last night as I had an early coach. Room spotless, beds comfy (I have 3 hernias so usually struggle getting comfortable with hotel beds) and staff very friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay here again.

Historic pub just outside of the shopping complex. Friendly welcome from staff. Pool table as well. No food served which is a shame.

Last time l was here was in 1979 and do you know what, it is different but still a good pub, plenty of character and comfatable.

Encantadora bienvenida, la habitación (no 8) era una gemela con baño privado. Muy limpio aunque un poco anticuado. Cada inodoro tiene un saniflow que puede ser bastante ruidoso. El pub es histórico y está cerca de las murallas de la ciudad y del centro comercial West Quay. No sirve comida, pero la persona del bar recomendó el león rojo para una buena comida de pub inglés y hay un montón de wetherspoons cerca para el desayuno. Sin duda me alojaría aquí de nuevo. No hay estacionamiento en el pub, pero el estacionamiento ncp durante las 24 horas es 10 en el centro comercial cercano.

I went here for my uncles wake. They put on a good spread. It was good. I visited many times in the past. Always a good service.

Sadly the juniper berry looks great from the outside (historic and pretty) but it tired, noisy and dirty on the inside. A few locals seem to frequent this pub making it not very inviting and request metal music to be played. A huge shame as its steeped in history!

Siguiendo la recomendación del DJ Hammy de Supersonic Mobile Disco, celebré la fiesta de mi cumpleaños número 50 en el salón de actos en la parte frontal de Juniper Berry el sábado y tuve una excelente noche. Ubicado en un antiguo edificio Tudor, junto a las murallas medievales que dan al West Quay y a los muelles, es una excelente ubicación central, a solo un par de minutos a pie del casco antiguo, debajo de Bargate y de la zona comercial. La habitación es espaciosa, con mucho espacio para bailar y mesas y sillas a los lados. Tuvimos alrededor de 60 a 70 personas y nos sentimos muy cómodos. Enfoque altamente personalizado en la preparación de la noche y muy complaciente con nuestras necesidades, especialmente los diferentes requisitos dietéticos. Lo recomiendo altamente! !

Great place to have a drink in an old pub

Hired the pub for a 30th Birthday party. Nice little venue and tucked away in a nice location just off the high street. Perfect for around 50 guests. Highly recommend. Staff were great.

Nice old fashioned place a true pub look

Great location and price but that’s about it. Room smelt musky and was dirty. Blood on the walls ,stained carpet. Sign in room saying no drugs allowed. Felt very itchy after 1 night there so checked out early and booked into the travelodge.

The DJs they have on weeknights for events are awful and WAY TOO LOUD. No respect for local residents.

We held our Wedding Reception at the Juniper Berry a lovely clean self contained room with its own outside decking area and toilets. Excellent consultation about our needs for our day nothing was a problem for them.The staff are friendly hard working and fun. We decided to have a buffet for our 50 guests which was pleantiful and of excellent quality enjoyed by all our guests.We had an amazing fun stressfree day and couldnt reccommend The Juniper Berry enough fantastic

Este pub tiene un falso exterior Tudor con un interior cómodo y acogedor. Tiene una asociación algo histórica ya que se construyó sobre el sitio de una casa en la que vivió Jane Austen.

Me alojé 1 noche. Las habitaciones eran preciosas y limpias, y el personal fue muy amable. Un pequeño agarre no puede comprar una bebida en el bar para llevar a su habitación. Así que tuvimos que ir a la calle principal, pero no fue gran cosa. Justo enfrente del centro de ocio local y cerca de West Quay. No sabía que era un pub, pero es culpa mía. Té. Café en la habitación Recomendaría xx
