Scholars Arms in Southampton

It is great to go with friends, chat, have pints and sth to bite. Their Guinness is well poured, delicious 😋 Food is not bad, but I believe it is ready-made food. It is not a problem, but my five starts would be for house-made food.

This is a perfect and picturesque English pub. It has a great menu and the food is outstanding. They offer a wide variety of beers and ciders. After 10 long days on a cruise having stepped foot on land this was the perfect experience. 10/10 recommend!!!

Came to watch the rugby on a saints home day, the staff put up with so much on days like this. Witnessed a horrible customer abuse and berate a member of staff. The poor girl was in tears after the exchange and the customer didn’t even apologise. She still soldiered on, and working in retail myself, I know how difficult it is to have to deal with this and she did a great job serving me after.

Just called in for a drink on way to theater. Never been on before, seems nice with good prices for food.

Its a nice quiet pub. It was a shame that it wasnt the cleanest and the food menu and food itself wasnt all that great. I had vegan food due to a diary allergy and still had a light reaction not long after visiting so there must have been some cross contamination also 😕. For somewhere with hardly any people in, cross contaminations not good. They can pour a drink well but again, limited options.

I repeated it many times during my stay. I really liked the food and the variety of beers. I want to go again.

Great atmosphere. We were looked after very well by James who went above and beyond for us, despite being a large group on a busy night.

Great customer service and good price drinks. James reserved us a table and looked after our big party very well.

Great visit today with our son. Have been used to the generic Sunday roast that most pubs offer. I had to review this as it’s top notch. We asked and it’s completely home made and every mouth full was great . They had run out of Guinness zero so had the original and wasn’t disappointed at all. The gold was also on but I wasn’t allowed to stay all night to watch. Great service from James also. Will be back

Just popped in for a swift pint , great atmosphere

Big pub near the city centre. It had a good atmosphere and seemed to cater towards sports fans. They were showing football when I visited on the many screens around the place. I didn't order any food, but just from seeing other people eating I thought it looked good! It definitely smelled good! Service was good and staff were friendly. Wasn't too expensive either. Overall definitely worth a visit for watching sports!

We booked an area of the pub for a belated staff do and the guys in the pub were really friendly, helpful and made sure we had a great time! We had a great time with our work colleagues with some nice food and good drinks! Thank you for a great night guys and we'll definitely be back soon!

Brilliant for live sport. Good choice of drinks on bar and good food menu with all the pub classics. Shuffle board available to the rear of the pub!

Came in with my friends for a christmas drinks and had a wonderful time. Service was 10/10 and staff were so friendly! The pub gave such a festive vibe with amazing decorations and really made our night. Highly recommend!

Ordered a turkey dinner wasn't that good no stuffing or parsnips so couldn't class it as a Christmas dinner

5 STARS. The Manager is brilliant and so friendly. Very interesting to hear where he has worked, so much experience. All the staff are brilliant and the place is dog friendly. The first thing I noticed was the Christmas decorations, so many and looks fabulous. Got to be 5 stars

I've been to this pub quite a few times and always found it to be good. I went to the Christmas themed charity quiz and had a blast. The host Chris was great and even had some friendly back and forth with the teams it really made the night. Will definitely be back 😀

With attitude of these bar staff, no wonder pubs r shutting, no smile don't listen to orders, can't remember more than 2 drinks in 2 order and try argue when beer tastes off.. typical green king

Me and a group of friends came in for the Student Wednesday event, cant say no to £3 pint and 2 for £5 Jager bombs, good pub with Shuffle and Pool tables.

My family and i came in for a sunday roast all the way from North Carolina, it was our first time trying a British sunday roast and by jove it was amazing, the kids loved it and have been asking me if we can go back and have it again! The staff were so friendly and helpful and we felt so welcome! Would highly recommend this pub!

Came with friends for F1 and breakfast wasn’t disappointed with either. There was several tables of F1 fans in as well as the manager so we had the sound on at a great level (normally just get the images) when football is also on. Didn’t eat but saw several others eat and the roasts looked great.

Had a great time here when visiting from the north west. The whole team were friendly and genuine. They had just started a new menu apparently and have to say the food was exemplary the oil was definitely clean as the fried food was light in colour and moorish. I don’t drink alcohol so was pleasantly surprised to find there was more than just the one token alc free beverage, I think I counted 6 unsure if there is more. I settled for the alc free old mout cider and was also surprised to get it loaded with fresh fruit (normally a restaurant thing in my experience). Overall a great choice just a shame the F1 wasn’t being televised.

Good place for a drink (and food) whilst watching Sunday football on sky. Plenty of seating with a screen (volume off) never too far away. Good mix of people makes it a more enjoyable experience.

Alright, tables are often dirty and the pinot grigio tastes like it has usually been open for a day or two, but good atmosphere and nice staff, nicer than a Whetherspoons and great place to watch sports - if you're in Southampton and you want a relaxed meal, this place is spot on

Went to the recent Marvel Vs DC pub quiz and the young man hosting it was a delight. So polite and the rest of the staff were great. Stan Lee for the win!

Great place to catch a drink before football.

Booked a table last Saturday for three people. When I rang up beforehand (about 20 mins before the reservation) the manager told us that despite an confirmation email, they would not honour our booking due to being very busy. Poor organisation and did not even apologise.

Myself and my partner are in Southampton for the weekend and stopped by the Scholars Arms for Dinner and Breakfast. The atmosphere was very welcoming along with the friendly staff. The food was also lovely. 😋

#shufl first time playing this game. Our boys absolutely loved it. All cruisers should pay a visit. Its a table version of shuffle on the ship.

I was visiting Southampton for five days. It was the first place I had dinner, and it was so good I went back for dinner on my last night in town. The fish and chips were amazing. My husband said his burger was awesome. My daughter loved the halloumi salad. The atmosphere is great - there was music but it wasn't too loud and there was sports on the TVs.

Prices aren't bad on the face of it but considering how long you have to wait for mildly underwhelming food they're not great. Also the bloody sports is on every surface they can hook a TV to.

I honestly felt sick... we ordered food and on my daughters plate..there was gum left. Plates not cleaned. We called the waiter in total disbelief. His response was oh I'll get you a diffrent one. My stomach turned. We all couldn't eat lunch and left

First time visiting today we came from Nottingham to visit a friend, had the Sunday roast absolutely fantastic will definitely visit again when I’m next in the city well done all!

The Katsu chicken burger, fries and onion rings was my choice and it was very tasty. I hadn’t had this before but I’m glad I did and recommend it for the slightly spicy flavour. It’s not too spicy but it’s a good amount of heat. The venue is good for meals and plenty of seating, tv’s for sports and all you’d expect from a Greene King pub. Good service and staff at this visit were attentive.

Food was lovely, probably a little too noisey for us as a rule but there was football on tv and as it was championship play offs it was to be expected.

Went into your Southampton bar to obtain two gins and tonic. Asked for Gordon's,then Tangeray and finally Bombay. Was told they only have flavoured gins. Then was told by bar person, I believe was a Manager that you don't cater for older people. I was taken back at such a statement as older people keep you ticking over at lunchtimes early afternoon, hence I ordered two small wines. I sat with my elderly husband and thought about it. I threw my wine away . Is this age discrimination by Green King ??

Only had a couple of drinks whilst waiting for an appointment but the team were very helpful and there was a wide range of beers to choose from. Will definitely visit the next time I am in Southampton.

waited ages for food. When it came out it was lukewarm. Also served on cold plates. No one asked how the meal was. Not value for money

Popped in after the Southampton Half marathon....as it was by the finish line !! Great selection of beers, both lager and real ale... Spent 2 hours playing on the Shiffle board which was great entertainment for all ages !! Only downside, was with there being a massive event on their doorstep, that they didn't have enough staff serving at the bar.... You had literally thousands of people in the town, and the possibility of them coming into your establishment....and you only put 2 staff behind the bar... Shame .... Still enjoyed our stay though....

Went there on a staff night out, great pub and staff, had so much fun on the shuffle boards, highly recommend!

Highly recommend going to this pub, the staff are friendly and make you feel welcome. The pub food is definitely top notch and definitely better than spoons and Yates. And also a good pub to watch the football
