Watched the rugby, great atmosphere

We were visiting from the US and really enjoyed the food, atmosphere and service. Amber and Emma were great!

Great food and service, from amber and Katie, who coped remarkably well with a surprise walk in for a birthday of 20 people, because the pub we had booked next door had a gas leak.

Had the best vegan chilli ever. Abtin and James cooked rhe most delucious mushroom chilli. Served by lovely Amber. Really friendly staff. Will defintely come again.

The roast chicken was excellent as this is the only Greene king which does chicken Sunday roasts. The staff were friendly and prepared our table with Christmas decor. The red wine bottle was good value for money.

Had a great Christmas gathering here, food was good, on time and plenty of beverage choices. A good atmosphere and well decorated for Christmas, the only downside was the volume of music as the night progressed when the DJ turned up.

Cannot praise this venue enough. We went for a work Xmas meal. No cost to reserve but still treated like we had paid upfront with crackers and sweetie boxes. It was a lovely surprise!! Lucy and Kieran were fantastic Food was fantastic... especially their festive menu. Food and drinks were all decent prices. Blue light discount was an extra bonus. Will definitely be returning

Loved this place a Saturday with a Christmas dinner and delicious sprouts.

Visited at a very quiet time for breakfast. As it was quiet, it had a chilled vibe. Breakfast menu was clear and when delivered, lovely.

First visit and went with small plates and few pints of hazy day. Both it and the sticky chicken starter were insanely good. A very pleasant surprise. Highly recommend

First visit to the Scholars Arms, we went for drinks only, service was good, staff were friendly and polite. May go for food next time we head to Southampton.

Good place for a drink (and food) whilst watching Sunday football on sky. Plenty of seating with a screen (volume off) never too far away. Good mix of people makes it a more enjoyable experience.

The BBQ chicken was searing hot (microwave?) but drier than Tutankhamen and the only thing that made it remotely edible was the gallons of BBQ sauce.... Great pub and drinks but awful food unless you want chips, these were good

We do not like football, and couldn't escape it!

Brilliant place. Great atmosphere. Friendly staff. Good range of drinks. My only complaint was the toilets were absolutely vile. They smelt. They were dirty. Most were blocked. That was the same for the woman’s and the men’s as my boyfriend has said the same thing about the men’s bathroom. Toilets aside it is a good place for a nice evening.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at The Scholar Arms in Southampton, and I can confidently say it was an exceptional experience! The atmosphere was warm and inviting, making it the perfect spot for a cozy meal. I ordered the fish and chips, and it was simply outstanding. The fish was perfectly battered and fried to golden perfection, flaky and tender on the inside. Paired with crispy chips, it was a classic dish done right. But what truly took it to the next level was the curry gravy. Rich, flavorful, and just the right amount of spice, it added a unique twist that I didn’t know I needed. It complemented the fish beautifully and made for a delightful combination. The service was attentive and friendly, making us feel right at home. If you're in Southampton and looking for a place that serves top-notch fish and chips with a creative flair, The Scholar Arms is a must-visit. I can't wait to return and try more of their menu!

Had steak and steak and ale pie, both nice food with friendly service. Almost empty on Thursday evening, smelled damp in there.

The food is actually really quite good for the price point and there's ample bar staff to ensure you're not waiting an hour for a beer, they have plenty of pool tables and even 2 shufl boards, you can rent the balls at low cost and enjoy that. Also it's a great venue in centre of Southampton to watch football or rugby and have a few beers! Also Very student friendly in terms of deals and money off. Great place.

Great service by Josh behind the bar and Amber serving food. I felt slightly guilty, having asked Amber to clean our table and then moved to another one 😬 but she was still great when she delivered our food. I like Greene King steak and ale pies, but for some reason, all pies are not equal 🤔 but good 👍 but best ones are here 🙂

Food was cracking, had the burger, and a steak, service was swift, and there was a friendly atmosphere.

Kieran and James were absolutely fabulous. Lovely recommendations on their different cocktails!. Went for the cherry bakewell which was swiftly made and tasted glorious. They seemed so enthusiastic and happy about their place of work!

Large pub with outdoor seating we only found it by accident. Didn't purchase any food but looks like a nice local place with large screens for football. Young man who attended us was very pleasant and brought our coffees to the table.

My family and I came in for food we had the katsu chicken burger and the steak ale pie. Well valued and really tasty. The staff are all very friendly and welcoming. The shuffleboard tables are really fun to play.

This pub/restaurant was picked because it was a green king franchise. On the plus side the food was tasty and came fairly quick. The negative was the place was quite rowdy at 18.00 not great to have a quite meal with a partner

We wanted to grab a light bite to eat prior to seeing a show at the Mayflower. We booked a table online beforehand and on arrival wee were meet with a warm welcome. We ordered drinks and sandwiches. For the price paid we were very impressed, the food arrived promptly and was very tasty. Both members of staff were very polite and only too happy to help

It cannot even be considered as GDP with food. A simple BLT chicken Sandwhich was a disgrace, I had never eaten something made with so little desire, poor and poorly made. Less than a chicken finger portion, literally 2 cherry tomatoes on total, 1 leave of lettuce and 2 slices ob bacon at the most. Solo bad and disappointed

Came in Saturday and absolutely loved it!! Had a katsu burger, was so yummy and cooked fantastic, chips were amazing. The DJ at 9pm was incredible!! Paid some super tunes and the bar staff were so kind. Definitely coming back!

Went in for a drink and food. Got told no food was being served 2hrs before a football match. I could understand but then hot nachos was served. If we got told we could of had those we would of. So we drunk our drink and left. Wasn't alot of people in the pub either.

Came to slScholars with a friend. Saw they had shufl board and myself and friend were curious about how to play. Lucy the manager was so helpful in showing us how to play the game and gave us some great service whilst we were playing too. What a lady. Well certainly be back. Great bar.

Came here on my vacation from America and this is one of the best british pubs I have been to! The atmosphere was great and they had a great selection of beer. Tons of space for a larger party and multiple pool tables and shuffleboard tables to keep everyone entertained. The manager Lucy was also really great and the whole staff made me feel very welcome. I will definitely be back the next time I visit.
