Quite often come here for a coffee on the second floor of John Lewis. Quick, polite service. Lots of choice of cakes etc. Looks more like a canteen than a cafe and it is huge, but always clean.

Beware off their electronics warranty. My iphone camera developed a fault within the 2 year warranty, great i thought, I bought from JL and they looked after me that time I had a faulty DSLR. This time though I've had my phone collected to be repaired. I had told them clearly what was wrong with it and enclosed a report from Apple stating the repair needed. THey sent it back unrepaired unable to find the fault. Like most people my phone is my work phone/navigation tool etc, and I was without it 10 days. It's now gone again for an unknown timeframe. I just wanted to warn people that this is likely to be the case with you, if your phone develops a fault. BE WARNED!

I recently visited John Lewis at Cribbs Causeway, Bristol, on Wednesday, the 28th, to purchase an Oura smart ring, and I was thoroughly impressed by the experience. I was assisted by Eva in the tech department, who went above and beyond in providing exceptional service. Eva was absolutely charming, friendly, and incredibly helpful throughout the process. She took the time to ensure that my finger was sized correctly for the ring, and her attention to detail made all the difference. I felt like a valued customer from start to finish, which is something you don't always find in retail these days. The Oura ring has been working perfectly since the purchase, and I am extremely satisfied with both the product and the top-notch service I received. I highly recommend visiting John Lewis at Cribbs Causeway, especially if you're fortunate enough to be assisted by someone as wonderful as Eva. Thank you for making my shopping experience so positive!

We have always liked John Lewis products and thought they were good quality, but over the last 6 months we have found items bought to be wanting and because they are not under "guarantee" and over the 30 day return period, John Lewis will not replace them with new items (they clearly have John Lewis marks on them). One item was an expensive rucksack which the stitching came loose on one of the shoulders and cannot now be used as a rucksack. Under the sales of goods act I cannot say this meets product quality as I would expect a rucksack to last a lot longer. That combined with another similar item we bought is making me doubt their product quality.

I want to start by saying that I love John Lewis. However, my last experience in their cafe “The Place to Eat” left me petrified…. Me and my 18 months old baby in his high chair were sitting in the cafe when I saw elderly lady in mobility scooter passing through me and hitting my son in the chair pushing him slowly but steadily until it would have tipped over if not me and the mobility scooter drivers friends didnt barricade the machine. The elderly lady driving was clearly not aware how to drive it and even after we stopped her she was unconsciously pressing smthing with her elbow which would move the scooter ahead (again). I was furious , so dangerous and when I expected the list! Why mobility scooters are allowed inside the cafe? Anyone checks whether person driving is able to drive it? So irresponsible! John Lewis should have been more careful…. This incident happened 26th June 2024 morning

Very poor experience in the cribs shop today which is disappointing as nothing but excellent service previously. We like JL because it’s dog friendly - however on this occasion one member of staff literally ran after us and shouted at us for “not following signs saying no dogs on the escalator.” When I apologised and explained I hadn’t seen the signs I was told this was “no excuse”. However, when I asked to be shown the signs - they were not there! The member of staff went on to tell me how there “used to be signs” and that the rule still stands, however I find it difficult to understand how I was to know this when there was no signage on any floor or any escalator stating as such. I subsequently received a telling that dogs should never go on escalators and an insinuation I was not looking after my dog properly. Very disappointing customer service - this could have easily been dealt with as I apologised and did use the stairs instead however I left feeling attacked by the member of staffs tone & how I was made to feel I had “disobeyed signage” that didn’t exist!

Poor experience today, shop assistant told us our dog wasn’t allowed to use the escalator, even though she’s quite happy using them and does regularly. We were asked to check the signage, only for her to discover there is no signage… not great. Additionally neither of the two cafes allow dog in, despite the signage implying at least one of them does. Laughable really. Sadly won’t be returning with our dog.

So, I feel really grateful to Hae Young who advised me, was extremely helpful and stayed with me till an outfit was put together. Hae Young was not hanging around but went back and forth several times to find the right top for me and the right suit and shoes. I purchased a washing machine in store at Cribbs Causeway. Service was good and arrangements were made for delivery. The day before delivery, I was allotted a late delivery time. Not ideal, but happens. Waited and waited, but no delivery during the time given, with no telephone call. Delivery people phoned fifteen minutes after the allotted time to say that they will arrive in 10 to 15. Okay, a courtesy call beforehand would have been decent, saying that they would be late. On arrival, they went into auto mode and started to dismantle the old washing machine. I then noticed on the packaging the words Samsung, I ordered a Bosch. Obviously no Q.A. there then. After being redirected by Customer Services and speaking to various members of John Lewis staff, I eventually managed to order my washing machine. Annoyingly, having to wait another week. I found that all the staff I had spoken to were polite. However, some were unable to understand what was being said, which was frustrating. The fact that you have to repeat yourself on numerous occasions, I felt was unnecessary. On one occasion I spoke to a Customer Service advisor for over 50 minutes without reaching any conclusion. A disappointing experience. Five stars for : Initial service, those people delivering and connecting. Customer Services, I expected better. John Lewis 'management', I hope you read these notes.

A nearby lady clearing tables completely ignored this. Another customer came to check I wasn’t scalded. I asked the staff member for blue roll (which she was using), she gave me one sheet. My blouse and trousers were soaked and there was a huge puddle on the floor. She began to clean the puddle up. I was left dripping. Another staff member came over and the first staff member then began to take action. My coffee was replaced. The coffee on the floor was cleaned up. I asked for more blue paled roll to try to clean myself up. I had just driven 2hours to get there, had missed lunch and sadly, did not feel looked after.

There are two serveries with independent queues: one for sandwiches and cakes plus anything that is served cold, and then there is the hot-food counter where various cooked items and for food cooked to order are available. We decided on a toasted ham and cheese sandwich each. It should be noted that hot drinks were served on either counter, although it does seem from signage and because the hot drinks making equipment at the hot-food counter is slightly obscured from view that you might be obliged to queue twice, to get a hot snack and a hot drink. My Partner went off with the hot drinks to find a table, and I waited a few minutes at the hot food collection point for the toasties to be freshly made. Therefore, you may assume (correctly) that there is no table service offered here. The toasties were produced without fuss or significant delay and they were like the coffee and tea very good indeed. Total bill was £16.55.

We visited The Place to eat in John Lewis to have coffee and cake during an afternoon of shopping. It was about 3:30pm on a Sunday afternoon and the queue was moderate in length. We briefly looked at the few remaining baguettes but they were a bit past their best so we decided on Fruit Scones with cream and jam. As we were moving along in the queue, behind the counter was shambolic and untidy with empty cake plates, overflowing milk tray and an array of crockery. The staff seemed tired and disillusioned and the service, although polite, was lacklustre. We had to ask for cream and butter, and teaspoons as none were available. I couldn’t eat all of my scone as it was not fully cooked, and had become dry and powdery. My partner ate hers because she was starving! The place to eat has suffered terribly since they stopped making everything in-house. The quality has dropped noticeably and with the obvious staff shortages meaning dirty tables and unhappy faces, this was not a pleasant experience. It used to be so good, but I’m afraid the focus on profit over customer service is apparent here and in the rest of the store which has tired displays and a general feel of lack of care. Sorry John Lewis, you’re losing it.

Just wanted to say that Cerian and his colleges were fantastic on Thursday evening 14/9/22. Came in looking for a photo frame last minute and asked if they had any in the stock room. Really appreciated the staff taking time to find the product I needed, they were apologetic for the wait though they needn’t have been and couldn’t have been more friendly :)

Whether it is a cost saving exercise half of the usual counters are closed during the week. What is left was particularly drab. The Coronation Chicken filling to the baguette was good. The bread was tough to chew - be careful if you have crowns or veneers! We refused the Carrot cake as the interior bore no resemblance. The Red Velvet was dry and sickly with the Passion Fruit cake being acceptable. The large black Americano are supposed to have 3 shots of coffee a particularly tasteless affair. Fir a company that has a name for quality this was a disappointing treat. We should have gone to Marks and Spencer.

I used to love the John Lewis basement cafe at Cribbs Causeway but my first visit to Ori was disappointing. Why do you have to queue to be seated in a casual coffee shop? I was pleased to find there was a gluten free cake but it was pricey and not that big. The coffee was very strong and bitter and I waited 10 minutes for it to arrive. I won't be making it part of my shopping trips in future. Bring back John Lewis lovely staff and great coffee.

A nice visit to Cribbs as usual. But a much smaller selection of curtain materials and I'm afraid to say I find the ready made curtains on display boring. Also to my horror a couple walking through the curtain department with a dog. Definitely not a guide dog. Surely John Lewis aren't allowing dogs in? If so you've lost this customer. There's a place for dogs and it certainly isn't the soft furnishing department in JL.

Shame as used to be a go to restaurant when visiting The Mall. Very little choice now. Now I wouldn't have minded so much but we ordered Cheese and Onion Toasted sandwiches which was strange - a slice of cheese (not melted), and a paste of what seemed to be grated cheese and a bit of onion? The green leaves that were on the side were dry, limp and edge bits were rotten. The toasted sandwich was lukewarm. The bottles of juice were also warm. Wish we hadn't visited and given them the money. We won't be again.

Chose fish and chips and whilst the fish looked good it was far from satisfactory - batter crisp on the outside but squidgy on the inside hiding a portion of fish much smaller than it looked on the outside. It was basically tasteless. Considering what they are charging I expected better.

Excellent department shop. The cafe for one is amazing, I will always recommend the savory pancakes and you can watch them make it on a giant pancake pan. The craft section in this job is extensive and actually reasonably priced compared to other craft shops. The back to school and kid ranges are great and you can get free shoe measuring and a baby starter kit list for new parents (with no minimum spend).

LEGO Star Wars Mos Eisley Cantina, £344.99 I am not sure my previous review/ public complaint was clear. The primary issue was NOT the partial refund! The bad feedback came primarily after I had exchanged the same set twice and then received yet another damaged set the third time... Because John Lewis knew I was a collector, they emailed me photographs of immaculate sets from their warehouse, then continuously sent me damaged sets that looked like they were from the discount isle. However, under the Consumer Rights Act of 2015, they are not permitted to sell damaged items. Furthermore, any set that has been opened is considered damaged according to LEGO policy. So, how did the sets pass quality control or not get discounted in a John Lewis store? It appeared to me that they were attempting to sell me discounted sets at full price. Then believe that it is okay to offer a stingy 20% partial refund. I find it stingy, as the same set, in immaculate, brand-new, flawless condition, is routinely discounted at John Lewis, with the most recent discount being 20% 2–3 weeks ago. Considering I had to go three miles back and forth to pick up and drop off each set (18 miles total), John Lewis has wasted both my time and money. I am really not happy!

We visited John Lewis on Saturday the 22nd of July at 13:00 to purchase some baby products. We were greeted by Louise on the baby section who provided us with excellent customer service. Louise was polite and friendly, her product knowledge was amazing and she helped us pick the right car seat and mattress for our cot. Thank you.

DO NOT GET JOHN LEWIS TO FIT YOUR CARPETS. I have just decided to replace the carpets that John Lewis fitted several years ago. I purchased the new carpets for the whole house which is almost 300sq meters of carpet. The fitter arrived and attempted to take up the carpet and almost broke his back. Every carpet in every room has been glued down solid in every inch. The underlay is glued to the floor and the carpet is glued to the underlay. The fitter managed to replace the carpet in the smallest room 3m x 4m which took a whole day. He said he wouldn’t be able to do the rest of the house and left which I don’t blame him. Today I set about taking up the landing carpet with my wife and 2 sons and it has taken us all day tearing at the carpet, taking it up in 6” strips at a time and scraping the underlay up an inch at a time. I wonder if John Lewis would have wanted to do the job a second time? I very much doubt it. I called customer support to get some advise on how to get the carpets up and the best Pete could do was to say I should just give it a hard pull. Hahahaha! Unbelievable!

We visited “The Place to Eat” on the 2nd Floor this morning (around 10am) and wished we hadn’t bothered. Queues stretching to the escalators with one hot food counter and one cakes and hot drinks counter open. Staff and two managers (black male and female with glasses) milling around not contributing to sorting out and better managing the queues - for instance, the 2nd hot drinks counter closed through out our visit. On the one cake and hot drinks counter some staff at a loose end and trying to establish what cake (if any you wanted) where you pick up your trays and no where near where the cakes were actually displayed so you can see what was on offer. There was one member of staff who’s sole job seemed to be stacking different types of scones with food tongs onto a display plate as high as she could until they toppled over! Then she would just pick them up with her hands and re-stack. Cakes seemed to be served on great big plates and one customer returned hers back to the assistant and asked for it to be put on a smaller tea plate. The assistant merely put the first plate back on to the stack of clean plates (hygiene implications etc)! The only complement you could give to the counter shambles was a young guy who was really proactive with taking customers’ hot drink orders and directing/supervising other “clueless” staff. When we finally got to our table (after 20 minutes queuing) we were greeted by a dirty table. We then caught sight of several notices dotted around the seating area asking customers to help by clearing their own tables on to trays and returning them to the tray racks (see photo). As for the quality of the food, our coffee and walnut cake was tasteless in flavour (@£3.95 per piece) and just over sweet sponge. Yuk 🤑 is how I would describe it! Our coffees were mediocre and luke warm and certainly nothing of quality etc. So if this is the new so called quality we are to expect from John Lewis then no wonder the Partnership is losing money hand over fist. It’s chairman Sharon White publicises that JL stands and promotes good Customer Service standards and wants to attract customers back into its stores. From our experience of “The Place to Eat” this morning, we will definitely not returning back to this sort of shambles and food quality. As the two managers standing around talking and doing nothing, it’s a pity they didn’t go on the counters and help out - don’t tell me, it was probably too below lower their pay grade!

Delicious soup, toasted sandwich and coffee - really enjoyed lunch at John Lewis today. A member of staff carried my friend's tray to our table; this was really helpful as it gave my friend time to find a good spot for her pushchair and settle her little boy. It was busy yet calm and we didn't have to wait long at all. Comfortable seats with great views across Bristol.

Tried to visit the cafe on a Saturday afternoon but they had closed it (no sign until you got up there). Went to downstairs cafe, placed order and then rudely told we couldn't use the voucher as they are not part of John Lewis (?where does it tell you this) Wouldn't make a smoothie for my daughter but with no explanation why. Then proceeded to moan about the upstairs cafe and how they close because their pot wash is broken and then downstairs have to put up with all the customers! Drinks were slammed on the table but they forgot one until we asked again. Staff were rude, service terrible and be warned you cannot use JL cake / drinks vouchers downstairs.
