I waited at my daughter’s for a fridge freezer to be delivered for her. It arrived on time, but the delivery people badly damaged the item. Firstly, they walked it along the pavement to the house, scratching its base… no protection underneath. Secondly they dragged it through the house to the kitchen. They were struggling to get it to move until I pointed out the plug was trapped. Unfortunately I only spotted they had bent the live & neutral pins back, rendering the plug totally unusable, when I tried to plug it in just after they’d left. I wouldn’t have posted this review publicly, but having complained yesterday, we’ve had no resolution or reassurance from John Lewis & my daughter is still without a refrigerator. They are absolutely disgusting. Completely unethical company.

No food left at 15.00 apart from a portion of soup and a crust sandwich. Cakes were very over priced but coffee was nice Staff at the till ordered us to pay prior to the lady who was stood in front of us. No idea why I think she was in a rush to get somewhere. Not the best experience and won’t be coming back. Costa better value and nicer which is something I never thought I would say about John Lewis

I was served by a lovely chap called Nick yesterday in the tech department at the John Lewis branch at Bristol Cribbs Causeway. He was both friendly and knowledgeable and nothing was too much trouble! Whilst waiting to be served, I overheard him chatting to a previous customer who was very anxious and taking her time to decide on her purchase. He was both patient and kind and took time to ensure she was happy to proceed. These qualities are sadly lacking in many stores these days but this was a pleasant shopping experience and I felt I wanted to give him credit where it is due!

Incredibly frustrated with our experience purchasing a large amount of baby products from this store in expectation of our first child. Initially, we were very happy with the support and service offered in store and had selected the majority of what we will need. We were advised by a, seemingly, very knowledgable salesperson and purchased just shy of £2000 in store for collection a few days later. We have recently attended an NCT (new parent training) group and discovered that a few of the other expectant parents also shopped at John Lewis. They booked a baby appointment of sorts and, afterwards, were provided a code which discounted up to 15% on purchases over £2000. We were shocked to hear of this and very frustrated that this wasn’t mentioned during our unscheduled appointment. Given the reputation of John Lewis as a conscientious retailer we strongly believe that this option should have been suggested to us, particularly when we were completing the purchase with the salesperson. If this was another store, I’d likely have this review as a 3/5 but given our expectations and previous experience shopping here the reputation needs to be taken into account.

Beware off their electronics warranty. My iphone camera developed a fault within the 2 year warranty, great i thought, I bought from JL and they looked after me that time I had a faulty DSLR. This time though I've had my phone collected to be repaired. I had told them clearly what was wrong with it and enclosed a report from Apple stating the repair needed. THey sent it back unrepaired unable to find the fault. Like most people my phone is my work phone/navigation tool etc, and I was without it 10 days. It's now gone again for an unknown timeframe. I just wanted to warn people that this is likely to be the case with you, if your phone develops a fault. BE WARNED! UPDATE: Further to John Lewis reply: THe phone has been off for a second time. Now been away for 10 days. One update 4 days ago saying they had it in their workshop, and now nothing. The fault was explained via a letter from Apple so required no investigation. I stand by my review. I will never buy a phone, or anything else electrical from John Lewis, and urge any other reader to be very cautious.

We have always liked John Lewis products and thought they were good quality, but over the last 6 months we have found items bought to be wanting and because they are not under "guarantee" and over the 30 day return period, John Lewis will not replace them with new items (they clearly have John Lewis marks on them). One item was an expensive rucksack which the stitching came loose on one of the shoulders and cannot now be used as a rucksack. Under the sales of goods act I cannot say this meets product quality as I would expect a rucksack to last a lot longer. That combined with another similar item we bought is making me doubt their product quality.

I want to start by saying that I love John Lewis. However, my last experience in their cafe “The Place to Eat” left me petrified…. Me and my 18 months old baby in his high chair were sitting in the cafe when I saw elderly lady in mobility scooter passing through me and hitting my son in the chair pushing him slowly but steadily until it would have tipped over if not me and the mobility scooter drivers friends didnt barricade the machine. The elderly lady driving was clearly not aware how to drive it and even after we stopped her she was unconsciously pressing smthing with her elbow which would move the scooter ahead (again). I was furious , so dangerous and when I expected the list! Why mobility scooters are allowed inside the cafe? Anyone checks whether person driving is able to drive it? So irresponsible! John Lewis should have been more careful…. This incident happened 26th June 2024 morning

Poor experience today, shop assistant told us our dog wasn’t allowed to use the escalator, even though she’s quite happy using them and does regularly. We were asked to check the signage, only for her to discover there is no signage… not great. Additionally neither of the two cafes allow dog in, despite the signage implying at least one of them does. Laughable really. Sadly won’t be returning with our dog.

Very poor experience in the cribs shop today which is disappointing as nothing but excellent service previously. We like JL because it’s dog friendly - however on this occasion one member of staff literally ran after us and shouted at us for “not following signs saying no dogs on the escalator.” When I apologised and explained I hadn’t seen the signs I was told this was “no excuse”. However, when I asked to be shown the signs - they were not there! The member of staff went on to tell me how there “used to be signs” and that the rule still stands, however I find it difficult to understand how I was to know this when there was no signage on any floor or any escalator stating as such. I subsequently received a telling that dogs should never go on escalators and an insinuation I was not looking after my dog properly. Very disappointing customer service - this could have easily been dealt with as I apologised and did use the stairs instead however I left feeling attacked by the member of staffs tone & how I was made to feel I had “disobeyed signage” that didn’t exist!

Today I embarked on a journey to find the right outfit for my upcoming interview. I thought it was going to be really hard to find the right clothes. When it is so important you are hoping for some good, old-fashioned assistance and guidance rather than the "here is what we have, if you don't find what you are looking for we don't have it". So, I feel really grateful to Hae Young who advised me, was extremely helpful and stayed with me till an outfit was put together. Hae Young was not hanging around but went back and forth several times to find the right top for me and the right suit and shoes. Never again ! We arrived at 11 40 am and told as we approached, lunch would be ready in 10 minutes they were just changing the hot plates to lunch dishes. As we waited we were told the soup was ready it that's what we would like but no menus to be seen so we had to ask what it was . Two dishes were placed on the hotplate pies and a dish of ? it was still a guessing game ? The serving staff had to verbally explain every dish as they arrived still no menus or info we were told we could order toasties as before nothing telling us what was on offer , so again they had to explain to every customer who asked what the fillings were . They were waiting to serve the food until the battered fish was ready which was delayed , instead of serving what they had . It was a complete shambles !

Tim & Mark delivered cooker & fridge on 19/10/2023 from John Lewis. The service was top rate, cooker installed including electric connection & wireing. Cooker install is not easy getting levels right & moving heavy appliances which saved me a lot of work & time. Good to deal with nice people who were very efficient, & a credit to John Lewis. Five stars all round.

I purchased a washing machine in store at Cribbs Causeway. Service was good and arrangements were made for delivery. The day before delivery, I was allotted a late delivery time. Not ideal, but happens. Waited and waited, but no delivery during the time given, with no telephone call. Delivery people phoned fifteen minutes after the allotted time to say that they will arrive in 10 to 15. Okay, a courtesy call beforehand would have been decent, saying that they would be late. On arrival, they went into auto mode and started to dismantle the old washing machine. I then noticed on the packaging the words Samsung, I ordered a Bosch. Obviously no Q.A. there then. After being redirected by Customer Services and speaking to various members of John Lewis staff, I eventually managed to order my washing machine. Annoyingly, having to wait another week. I found that all the staff I had spoken to were polite. However, some were unable to understand what was being said, which was frustrating. The fact that you have to repeat yourself on numerous occasions, I felt was unnecessary. On one occasion I spoke to a Customer Service advisor for over 50 minutes without reaching any conclusion. A disappointing experience. Five stars for : Initial service, those people delivering and connecting. Customer Services, I expected better. John Lewis 'management', I hope you read these notes.

The restaurant was quiet and the staff on the counter were pleasant and helpful. Thank you. I was alone, trying to carry some big bags and a tray and managed to tip my whole (large) cup of coffee over myself and the floor while trying to put my tray down. A nearby lady clearing tables completely ignored this. Another customer came to check I wasn’t scalded. I asked the staff member for blue roll (which she was using), she gave me one sheet. My blouse and trousers were soaked and there was a huge puddle on the floor. She began to clean the puddle up. I was left dripping. Another staff member came over and the first staff member then began to take action. My coffee was replaced. The coffee on the floor was cleaned up. I asked for more blue paled roll to try to clean myself up. I had just driven 2hours to get there, had missed lunch and sadly, did not feel looked after.

No gluten free sandwiches in the cafe. The manager admitted they have had plenty feedback and it's been like it for some time. Just plenty of excuses. There's plenty of gluten free bread in Waitrose. Perhaps someone could pop in and pick some up. Why large vegan available but not for people who have NO choice on diet.

A rare visit for us to our nearest large shopping mall, led to a visit to this in-store café. There are many food outlets in the mall, but it was a busy Saturday early-afternoon and the queues for some of the eateries were very long. We found this café in this department store on the top-floor. There are two serveries with independent queues: one for sandwiches and cakes plus anything that is served cold, and then there is the hot-food counter where various cooked items and for food cooked to order are available. We decided on a toasted ham and cheese sandwich each. It should be noted that hot drinks were served on either counter, although it does seem from signage and because the hot drinks making equipment at the hot-food counter is slightly obscured from view that you might be obliged to queue twice, to get a hot snack and a hot drink. My Partner went off with the hot drinks to find a table, and I waited a few minutes at the hot food collection point for the toasties to be freshly made. Therefore, you may assume (correctly) that there is no table service offered here. The toasties were produced without fuss or significant delay and they were like the coffee and tea very good indeed. Total bill was £16.55.

We visited The Place to eat in John Lewis to have coffee and cake during an afternoon of shopping. It was about 3:30pm on a Sunday afternoon and the queue was moderate in length. We briefly looked at the few remaining baguettes but they were a bit past their best so we decided on Fruit Scones with cream and jam. As we were moving along in the queue, behind the counter was shambolic and untidy with empty cake plates, overflowing milk tray and an array of crockery. The staff seemed tired and disillusioned and the service, although polite, was lacklustre. We had to ask for cream and butter, and teaspoons as none were available. I couldn’t eat all of my scone as it was not fully cooked, and had become dry and powdery. My partner ate hers because she was starving! The place to eat has suffered terribly since they stopped making everything in-house. The quality has dropped noticeably and with the obvious staff shortages meaning dirty tables and unhappy faces, this was not a pleasant experience. It used to be so good, but I’m afraid the focus on profit over customer service is apparent here and in the rest of the store which has tired displays and a general feel of lack of care. Sorry John Lewis, you’re losing it.

Just wanted to say that Cerian and his colleges were fantastic on Thursday evening 14/9/22. Came in looking for a photo frame last minute and asked if they had any in the stock room. Really appreciated the staff taking time to find the product I needed, they were apologetic for the wait though they needn’t have been and couldn’t have been more friendly :)

We booked the Bowl for Sunday lunch for my daughter and her partner. Started off fine as we were shown to our table at the allotted time. The first problem being that this is the worst table in winter I.e. next to the opening side of the door. Whilst someone has to sit there, we booked three weeks prior, so why seat us there where the main restaurant seating was empty? Anyway, having sat down at the correct time, it took 30 minutes before we were even approached for food and drink too-up orders - and then only after we asked if it was possible to place an order. At that point, we were advised that numerous menu items were unavailable. I accept that happens at times, but smacks of poor kitchen management, particularly as one of the unavailable ingredients was pert of a dish that was still available. Orders placed, we eagerly awaited the arrival of the starters. One bread and olives and two terrine (so already refrigerated). 25 minutes later, they arrived. The manager had already been over to apologise for the delay - fair enough, these things happen. The Whitebait was served with a chilli dipping sauce, not the usually expected tartare. Strange. Onto the main courses. These arrived, apart from one that took a further 4/5 minutes. This held 3 of us up as we didn’t want to start whilst one person was still waiting. Thankfully, 3 of the mains were well received. The beef Sunday lunch option was disgustingly. The beef was virtually un-cuttable and certainly un-chewable. The Yorkshire pudding was dripping in tepid fat. This was rejected when the person waiting on the tables came to check if ‘everything was alright’ with our meals. I should have asked who was in the kitchen - Basil Fawlty (Gourmet Night episode for those who know)? In fairness, this was a rare occurrence for the Bowl, but it was awful!
