Great food, prompt and very agreeable service, prices fair for the quality, loud decor is good fun as well. Comes alive in the evenings but lunch is OK as well. Bit quiet for breakfast unless you prefer that.

My husband and I had booked a meal at another establishment in Emsworth to celebrate an anniversary and decided to visit JJ’s for a pre-lunch cocktail. We had never visited before so explained upon arrival that we did not wish to eat on this occasion and would just like a cocktail. A helpful young man showed us where to sit and explained that it was bar service. I sat at the table and my husband went to the bar and ordered our cocktails. What followed was bizarre. A lady who was seemingly a manager or hostess as she was seeing people to tables went to the bar where the barmaid was about to make the cocktails and she seemed to object. The young man who saw us to a table then intervened and went off to the make the cocktails and the older lady began conversing with the bar maid again and asked her, ‘was it them over there?’ and thumbed over her shoulder at us. We were seated in a corner with no other tables nearby so I am sure it was us she was referring to and it made us feel very uncomfortable. We hurriedly finished our drinks and left, still a bit bemused as to what we had done wrong and why anyone would be so overtly rude to customers. Needless to say we have no plans to return.

Went to JJ’s last week and must say a magical find from the food too the service from Tina and her staff. The decor is crazy a must place too visit 👍

Have dined here this evening, we are also staying in one of their guests rooms. The room is beautiful, clean and very comfortable. JJ's is an eclectic place but it's a little gem. Tina the Manager is excellent and a real asset to the establishment. My partner and I had scallops and goats cheese to start. Then mussels and cod for main. All of the courses were delicious. Large portions. Can't recommend highly enough.

An amazing day capped off with superb food. Retuning from London hungry and in need of sustanince. JJs didn't disappoint. We ordered two pies and when they arrived clearly homemade. Pastry fluffy and buttery. Meat tender and succulent. Mash beautifully creamy and vegetables really well cooked. Gravy to top it all off! Everyone really welcoming. Good quality hearty food done well at a good price. Definition of value for money. Would recommend without hesitation. Will personally be returning.

The worst meal I’ve had for a long time the others in our group had a good experience so I can only assume I made a bad choice off the menu. Not at all happy that we had to wait 30mins for our booked table as they were running late then I’m afraid my meal was very poor.

Well im very mixed on this as our initial thoughts was absolute chaos however we were seated by Michelle (I think was her name ) and she immediately put our minds at rest and assured us we would have a lovely evening and we most definitely did , she complimented my wife’s dress and how lovely she looked and inside I was beaming as it was our first dinner out after having our newborn, her attitude and help did not go unnoticed, she helped us choose wine and food and we even went with her recommendation of cocktails, she went above and beyond to help us , other staff were extremely stressed which was abit off putting but none the less Michelle and her beautiful appearance and customer service was spot on Thankyou for a wonderful evening Ian and Claire

Where do I start? This was our second visit to the restaurant. The first time, we sat upstairs where there were plenty of people eating and some live music. There were issues, where our order was taken and then the food wasn't available so we had to make do with half portions for free and a free drink. Okay it was dealt with, but why was the order taken? Our experience was not good. Now for the meal we attended in July 2024. Upstairs closed due to, I quote; 'people not being able to afford to go out the cost of living crisis'. Yet next door at the blue bell they were turning people away, due to being so busy. I wish we had known before we started our meal! Our starter was mussels for both of us. It sounded lovely on the menu, mussels in white wine and challotte sauce. It was dreadful. The sauce was bland, without taste, it cannot possibly have had any challottes or white wine in. Worse still 6 - 8 of the mussels were served to the table unopened! Others were only half opened. When we were asked if the meal was okay, we told them no. They muttered and cleared the table. For the main course we ordered scampi and chips and steak and chips. No scampi! Only two tables available downstairs and still haven't got items on the menu. We decided on a fish dish (linguine) instead that was available. I asked for a fried egg with the steak rather than tomato. Dishes came out and were shocking. The steak and chips at £34 was inedible. The fried egg looked like a squashed hard boiled egg. The steak which was supposed to be medium was bleeding and like old shoe leather. Was there actually a chef putting this out, as I honestly could have done better. The linguine was tasteless and also awful. We did not eat the meals. We told the staff and all they could say was the steak comes from a reputable butchers! It may well have, but how it was handled and then 'cooked' is where the problem was. They gave us 50% off our food bill, which basically means we paid 50% for nothing. My partner went to the chinese to get some food. We then went to the blue bell next door for drinks. They were welcoming and we had a great time. Thats where I will go next time. I gave JJ's a chance last time, gave them the benefit of the doubt. This time was the last straw. Never will I set foot in this place again unless it changes hands. I will also share my experience far and wide as I would not want any one to experience this type of thing. I cannot see how they have any customers at all as the food is not edible and the service is shocking.

We were all really looking forward to eating here, as were locals but unfortunately we was left disappointed! The drinks service was slow, and the manager (I think) seemed stressed and moody. She actually pushed past one of us, which was bizarre. The food was ok, definitely not worth the price, greasy .. unfulfilling burger and plain chips. After our meal we stayed for cocktails and were dissatisfied, in the end the older blonde lady told us “no more cocktails” as she didn’t want to make them. It’s a shame, as this was a local company outing celebration, I don’t think we will be returning. One positive, the young lady serving us was lovely, she’s an asset to your company,

This venue was new since the last time we visited Emsworth. What a lovely place it is too. Lovely decor, nice food (the menu isn’t extensive, which isn’t a bad thing, but there were specials too) and excellent service. Enjoyed our evening meal and went back for breakfast which was also really nice and not at all expensive.

We used to love coming here, with family, friends, or a date night, but the last three times we have been it’s been a bad experience, the last time we said we wouldn’t return, however our friends ( my husbands business partner and Wife) had never been and wanted to try it out, They had browsed the menu beforehand and were looking forward to something particular, when we arrived the menu had been downsized, the waitress said due to the spring menu coming soon, I understand a change of menu but there really wasn’t much to choose from, once the food arrived it was very underwhelming, the meat was not good quality at all, it was all very fatty. But we thought never mind, we didn’t want to ruin the evening so didn’t complain, we paid the bill and went downstairs for drinks, The manager seemed beyond stressed rushing through the full bar of people with hot plates of food , becoming quite cross if anyone was in her way, no fault of there own may I add , as it’s a bar and people were socialising, Another male member of staff was very short and snappy with us, because we questioned where one of our drinks was as it had been a while that we’d ordered it and everyone else had there’s straight away, we we’re almost set to order the next round and it hadn’t arrived, we asked politely, as it was busy so wondered if it may have been forgotten, we didn’t need scolding for it. I never leave negative reviews, however as this is the third bad experience of poor quality food, and rude members staff , I thought I would, So many of our friends/local emsworth family, have all stopped going due to the same reasons, It was so nice to have somewhere so quirky and fun locally when it first opened, it’s such a shame that’s it’s gone so down hill. It’s a treat to come out for a meal and cocktails, but unfortunately you feel like more of an inconvenience to them than anything else.

Go often always have the lobster as huge and delicious and my husband loves the filet steak served with champagne amazing Food huge portions always amazing and the husband is fussy so must be excellent Service from the lovely Tina 11/10 and all the staff excellent Would highly recommend as another lush night tonight and good value for money ❤️

After a bit of hype we were left disappointed and wish I’d checked out more reviews as it seems common. Good bits - the food was quick, so quick it arrived before drinks and it was busy Bad bits - the Sunday lunch is over-priced for what you get. The meat also seemed to have been steamed not roasted so the chicken was wet, the fat on the pork was rubber and the beef was a thin slice. We were sat upstairs which looks to have seen better days and it was so filthy it put me off a little. Honestly they need to close the place for the day and give it a deep clean, especially by the windows they’re pretty much pure cobwebs.

The manager / woman sat by the entrance on a laptop was extremely rude. She refused to believe we had a reservation until she took my phone to look at my confirmation email, after realising I was correct she gave us a table which was empty all along. We (61 yo’s) just had our best meal and service experience in Emsworth. We have been in Emsworth for 3 weeks and have eaten at 2-3 restaurants a week. The Cod (me) and chicken (wife) were perfect. A must do, unique experience.

The worst customer service we have ever received!!! Our first Valentine’s Day as husband and wife ruined by JJ’s staff! We booked a table two weeks in advance for 5:45pm on Valentine’s Day and requested at booking to not to be sat on a high table. We arrived, the place was empty and we were sat on a high table - We asked politely to swap tables and were simply told NO!! Not sure why we couldn’t simply swap to an empty table as all other tables would have been couples that night. We were then given a set menu with very limited and very poor options on, none of which we wanted to eat. When booking we weren’t told about a set menu so asked for the normal menu and again was simply told NO!! A staff member then randomly placed two glasses of Prosecco on our table to which we stated we didn’t want (very assumptions of JJ’s that everyone wants to and is able to drink alcohol) and by that point we were so upset with the terrible service that we got up to leave. We had been in the restaurant for 5 minutes! The manager came over and tried to tell us that they had called and left a voicemail informing us of the set menu and when we informed her that they absolutely had not, she asked our surname, checked her computer and then blamed her assistant for not contacting us!!!! We left and had to eat dinner at home as there was no way we were able to get another reservation for dinner elsewhere at such short notice on Valentine’s Day. Our first Valentine’s Day as husband and wife ruined by the staff at JJ’s and I will never go back!!!!!

We had a table at 7:30pm, as we arrived we were told they were out of 3 dishes aswell as coleslaw, which we thought was odd considering it was still early evening. Two of the dishes were off the specials. The staff were rushed off their feet and we felt sorry for them. The manager just seemed stressed to the max. However, our waitress was lovely and delivered great service. We ordered the shared board, which was nice, I’d say the food was average and slightly over priced but still nice. After dinner we went downstairs to the bar and finished our evening dancing to the singer, there was a great atmosphere and made our night!

This pub/restaurant is rated 22/39 in this area on trip advisor. That is nonsense. I travel the length of the country eating in a variety of places.JJ’s is in my top 5 and definitely number one locally. Tina the manager is on the ball the service is slick and the food plentiful and tasty and extremely good value. If you visit Emsworth and don’t pop in here you have missed a treat

My my what a lovely place we stumbled across, The service was exceptional, our waitress was utterly charming a ray of colour ,stunning body art and was so welcoming ,we are already planning our next visit with friends

Sad to say that JJ's has lost its shine. Basic menu of scampi, fish and chips, burgers and pie, all of which can be bought in any of the pubs in Emsworth. We decided to have some brie wedges, which came with the cheapest coleslaw I have ever eaten, which claims to be home made, but I very much doubt it, awful.. Come on JJ's we know you can do better. Glad to say the atmosphere in the bar is still good.
