A really great food hall with plenty of choice. After a lot of deliberation I chose to eat at the market cafe which was excellent. There are few market stalls too. The four stars only are for the horrible toilets (they are messy and they stink) and the non enforcement of their own rules regarding not having dogs all over the furniture.

If you are local or a visitor to Chester and are looking for something to eat, drink or both, then you won't go wrong with the Market. You'll find a Butchers, Fishmongers, Dog Shop, Zoo shop, Plants, Gifts and more during the day and loads of dining options into the evening. Breakfast, Brunch, Lunch, Dinner, Tea, Guinness, G&T....It's all here. If eating, find a table, then look for something to eat from any of the amazing eateries. Once ordered go and relax and enjoy the view until it's ready to collect. Friday and Saturday nights often have a local band or musician on the stage in the central seating area.

Great idea and very well done, fantastic traders and good, unfortunately the execution just isn’t as good as Newport market or goodsheads in Barry. Here, you have to wonder round and look at every menu to see what you want, then order and find a table and be given a disc which vibrates when your food is ready, which means if you’re on your own you’ll lose your table, or if you order then try to find a table to risk dropping your food, not finding anywhere (which is ok if you’ve got a pizza but not great with a curry) Other places work better, where you scan a QR code and then order online and the food is bought to your table by the staff of the market from each trader, this also allows you to order from more than 1 trader at a time. Also, it was very busy today but the toilets were filthy. Not acceptable

Nice place to grab a bite or a drink whilst visiting Chester. It may not be a quick visit if you're planning on sitting in as part of a group on a busy weekend afternoon though. Seating a little tight, best to browse the food outlets and grab a seat as soon as available, regardless of location. But, a diverse and quality choice of foods to be had, and a great buzz about the place.

Went with my son yesterday, we were so disappointed. Its just full of trendy expensive hipster cafes but it's not a market. Saw a butchers, a couple of stalls selling plants, a trendy optician stall and one selling phone cases. Why didn't the council update the old market and have this as well? The old market traders should sue from being treated so abysmally. Also very noisy.

I was visiting Chester for the day from Scotland with my mom and we stumbled upon this gem by accident! Such a find! We had no idea it existed and I loved the variety of foods on offer and just how cool it was inside! My mom is obsessed with clam chowder after trying it all over the Pacific North West after we lived there for a year so she loved finding it at The Seafood Shack, we got delicious Mango Lassi's to drink, really good cookies and brownies from the two treat places opposite the Lego models (I can't remember their names now) and I definitely would recommend stopping here on your next visit to Chester! Perfect that the parking is right there beside it in the multi storey too.

Nice indoor market BUT overrun with dogs. This is a busy market with an open food hall and lots of stalls preparing food. Dogs do NOT belong here - you're effectively letting dogs wander around in a kitchen. I went on a Saturday so it was busy, and many dogs on long leashes were being allowed to wander around, getting in people's way. Occasional snarling between dogs as well. Dog owners have an entire town centre in which to walk their dogs - they don't need to be in the indoor market as well. Enough of this "dog friendly" nonsense.

We love it here!! We have visited twice in a month and cannot recommend enough! It does get very busy so be patient whilst waiting for a table but other than that - faultless! The choice of food is good and portion sizes are decent. It's nice to explore the different food stalls. It's a shame there aren't many shops left like the old market. My main issue was the noise. High ceilings, main music, radios in several kitchens and people speaking loudly to be heard over it all. I struggled to relax with earplugs in and wasn't able to find quiet seating.

Super busy during my visit. Be prepared to wait and hunt for somewhere to sit if it's a weekend or bank holiday. A variety of food stalls to choose from including thai, vegan, pizza etc. After ordering and paying at a food stall, you'll be handed a buzzer which will indicate when it's time to collect your food. We had to wait around 45 mins for the food. Wasn't really worth it so wouldn't come again. Toilets free to use within the court.

I love going to the Market for either a chill morning/afternoon coffee or a fun evening drink and dinner. There are so many options that everyone in your group will be happy! My only criticism that makes this 4/5 is that it is SO COLD. Like to the point where if I stay too long I can't feel my toes. I know it's a large pace that is hard to heat but there must be a solution. I am not generally a cold-sensitive person but here it's another story.

On a recent trip to Chester, friends suggested checking out the new indoor market and food hall located near the historic city walls. Having read mixed reviews online, I wasn't sure what to expect from this modern interpretation of a traditional market space. Right away upon entering, it was clear this was no normal market. You will find a very sleek, warehouse-style interior which feels more like a bustling food court than your typical greengrocers and stalls. Rows of various dining counters and bars lined the open-plan area, all very busy serving a mixed clientele. Beyond the food, a collection of other retailers like a cheese shop, butcher, pet food and plant stalls added dash of market atmosphere. Upmarket perhaps, but the quality and presentation shone through. The variety of cuisines on display is impressive: from Mexican tacos to Thai curry, gourmet Scotch eggs to wood-fired pizzas. Visiting in weekend and wet weather - the place was packed! Spotting an empty table was a mission but we managed to eventually to grab lunch of different street food. While a pricier proposition than your average market, the space has clearly become a popular destination. With its focus on dining over shopping, Chester Market seems to have a unique identity blending indoor food court with independent producers. Recommended to try when not too busy for a more relaxed experience.

Went check it out for me and Mum. Walked in and briskly walked out. Barren, ugly and with no soul. Wooden blocks of frames, no idea, no imagination or flair. Huge amount spent on it, leaves no impression on you. Far nicer environments to eat around Chester than there, with cosy comfortable chairs also. Cold and uninviting sorry to say. As another reviewer said it won't last long and I agree. THIS IS A JOKE!!! Visit Cardiff Market, still good after all the years, keeps it's traditional vibes and it's got soul. In beautiful historic building. It has everything and more! Not lost its sense of being a proper market. Also how can you house a butcher and fishmonger in the same heated environment with restaurant style setting. Especially a BUTCHER!! That cannot be right!! Chester resident.

Putting aside the fact this is a market by name only, the redevelopment of Chester market into the food hall, has been one of the only good things to come from Chester Council in years, the variety of food is spot on and it’s great to see it full of life and people. One big issue though is it’s impossible to enjoy it on an evening at the weekend, I’ve been in night clubs with quieter music than the market, it’s unpleasant and needs sorting - also who picks the tunes, I thought my playlist was bad…
