Jan's Sandwiches in Test Valley

Very good indeed. Lived in area for a while and used this sandwich shop a good few times and thought it deserved a good review. Bacon and Brie Baguettes are fabulous, and if you are lucky you get to sit outside and enjoy the courtyard.

I thought it would be good to support a local business, I wish I hadn't. I don't understand why a sandwich shop wouldn't have a menu, nor do I understand how a takeaway chicken roll should £5. The whole experience was wildly unprofessional and awkward.

Great doorstep sandwiches served here. Lovely bread, lovely fillings and great cakes. Well worth a visit.

This place is a little gem if you want a nice takeaway lunch. They do paninis, baguettes, sandwiches, jacket potato’s you name it! There is a huge range of fillings and all very good value. The ladies in there are very friendly too!

Delicious had a toasted panini with cheese and bacon it was amazing. Very friendly staff highly recommend

I used to use Jan's quite often when I had the opportunity of coming into Romsey, however recently the portions are smaller and when I have pointed this out the supplier has been blamed yet the same price is charged. Shame but I will no longer be going back

The best place in Romsey for sandwiches. They aren't the cheapest however because of the size and the amount of filling I tend to share with somebody else. There is some eating space but very little so I'd recommend going to the memorial Park nearby to eat.

Jans Sandwiches are a Romsey classic!! If you live in Romsey you have probably had Jans before!! It is amazing, their bread is homemade on the day and it is sliced very thickly.. It is about £4 for a sandwich but it is very filling and they are very generous with the sandwich fillers. However 9 times out of 10, the sandwich I want, they don't have the filling in on that day which is a massive shame. The staff are very friendly and I definitely would recommend everyone to try it

Reasonably priced salad lunch, plentiful and quality ingredients. Not a bad cup of coffee to accompany lunch.

I have to say that I stopped buying from here for a while as I heard it had gone downhill since the takeover. Well I shouldn't have listened to those fools - still absolutely amazing!! Big fat doorstep bread (soft and fresh!), jam packed with amazing fillings! I don't go as often as I would like as I'm stuck in the house most of the time. If they could deliver a couple of days a week I'd be in my element! Well done guys! Lovely! UPDATE - I have received a response from my Facebook review saying THEY CAN DELIVER! HALLELUJAH!

Romsey Town Council with Romsey Chamber of Commerce host a regular meeting of local retail and business leaders, we were pleased that this week when we had our meeting the bacon baps maintained or maybe improved in quality over those supplied by previous management. Really good quality bacon delivered in an insulated container. We will certainly be using Jan's Sandwiches again and it is the place we go to pick up our own lunches Great variety of breads and fillings, always service with a smile

I went in this week to find the new owners had given the shop a lovely revamp and the staff seemed very positive and excited about the new changes. I must say this shop was already on my list of favourites however now it will be a regular weekly visit. Best sandwiches ever!!!!

El servicio es terrible, y nadie parece tener alguna idea de lo que están haciendo y hasta me preguntaron qué era el precio de lo que pedí. La sopa venía de un contenedor tupperware y luego calienta delante de mí en el microondas. Anteriormente había visitado hace un par de años y el lugar era excelente y muy recomendable. Desde entonces ha ido cuesta abajo y no volveré.

I was horrified when a member of staff came in from doing something outside and only rinsed (not washed her hands) before cutting the bread!

We celebrated our daughters 30th on Saturday night & the buffet was provided by Jan' Sandwiches of Romsey. We've been fan's as a family for 20 years & didn't realise till a few months ago that they provided this service, but so glad we found out. The food was delicious & plentiful the roast beef in particular got lots of praise. Thank you will return for our next function without a doubt .

I recently visited Jan's and ordered one of their doorstop chicken and bacon sandwiches. The staff were very friendly and more than happy to help. Wide variety of fresh sandwich fillers and salad to accompany the filling, along with crisp variety. Much better value than going to tescos and buying a sandwich. Would definitely recommend to anyone try to it.

I've had a few sandwiches in my time and I can honestly say never one like these! The choice of fillings is immense The quality and freshness of the bread is 2nd to none and they don't Tilly tally about with the filling their massive!!

I visited Jan's today for a take-away salad on my lunch break, and I cannot recommend them more!You can choose between small or large, salad options are provided (lettuce, peppers, onion, sweetcorn etc.), and also toppings (chicken, tuna-sweetcorn mayo, prawn, egg mayo, ham, etc.). I must emphasise on the AMOUNT of toppings being very generous which is normally the part of a salad that I am rummaging to actually find at other places.Staff there were delightful and made me feel at home! If you happen to be stuck for choice at lunch in Romsey, then Jan's is great for eat-in and take-away.

Definitely do not go here. the staff are so rude and make it very plain at times that they prefer their regulars and the gents. I was left waiting for ages whilst they were chatting away and when I was eventually served it was with a very surly, almost rude attitude.The food is fresh and pleasant, however the bread for the sandwiches was so thick it was impossible to eat sensibly as a sandwich, I had to literally dissect it and use a knife and fork, not very convenient for quick food.

Jan's serves by far the best sandwiches I have ever eaten. Thick bakery bread and a huge selection of filings, always generously piled on and good quality. Sometimes it is actually hard to eat because there is so much filling - but that's not a complaint! I particularly recommend the chicken tikka, prawn mayo or chicken and bacon.The prices are very reasonable, not much more than a crummy prepackaged sandwich from the Co-op, but 100x better! Staff are always friendly and willing to accommodate requests. Also they sell a variety of crisps, drinks and cakes. Well worth a visit!

Have used for years, big crusty bread, brown or white many different choices of fillings , cakes salad and coffee too!

Great selection of fillings..especially being a fussy vegan. Avocado and hummus was available which was great. Would reccomend!

I have visited this place a few times now and will not be going back. The staff are really rude and the bread for the sandwiches was so thick it made it impossible to eat.

If you are in the know in Romsey you know Jan's sandwiches are the best. The other half can't get enough of them with Coronation chicken his favourite. Bearing in mind we order from work what more can I say.

Been using Jan's for years.Always the same excellent ingredients.Friendly service and sandwiches large enough to split between two people !!Great quality and value....highly recommended.

I love popping to Jans sandwiches for my lunch. A huge half sandwich which is amazing value for me. Much fresher and cheaper than a Co Op or Aldi sarnie. Huge variety of sandwich fillings or a salad if I want to be good. And the staff are always happy even though it's always busy.

I have been here a few times for soup but this time decided on a sandwich. It was un-edible without being totally dismantled and eaten with a knife and fork. A sandwich which measured over 5 inched with just 2 slices of bread is ridiculous, perhaps some big burly trucker might like it but an average lady cannot consume such a ridiculous sized sandwich. That and pretty unfriendly service even when I tried very hard to be super friendly and engage the staff with polite, friendly chat I was met with a pretty surly response almost to the point of rudeness. The younger lady serving was fine, it was the 2 older ladies that really let the side down. Needless to say I wont be going back.

Fab - super large sandwiches :) Every filling imaginable they have and will accommodate to your requests.

Love getting sandwiches from Jan's. They are HUGE and tasty. Sometimes I can only eat half and have to save half for later. Great value for money. The ladies that serve are polite and friendly. I work in Romsey and sometimes a group of us will call ahead and order sandwiches. If we do this early enough, someone will drop them off to us, which is great of them. If not, they have them ready for us when we drop in to pay and the sandwiches are all wrapped and labelled for us. Definitely recommend.

As the two previous reviews said, the doorstep sandwiches are just that. I had the tuna and cheese on my choice of bread. It was tasty and very filling. Also good value and plenty of selections with extras available for those who want something a little different on a individaul taste. HOWEVER, the staff do not verbally interact with you and the two ladies that were in there could well have been finely tuned robots with limited social interaction skills! I run my own company and for someone to not say THANK YOU or GOODBYE is not the best impression given was my first time in there. Every customer should be treated as if its their first time there to ensure they come back again.... as the tile says manners cost nothing and makes someone want to return. If they were having a bad day then dont open up and then the bad impressions arent made.... so in summary, if you want a quick tasty sandwich and not bothered bout being greated or thanked for your custom then this is definately the place to go.... Food very good, unfortunately the experience very average boarding on poor

Well, this place serves huge and I mean doorstep size sarnies, good value if you like that sort of thing, my issue is with some of the fillings - they are beyond salty - one I had - can't remember the name but it had so much spice (I think it was curry powder) plus salt, I ended up throwing most of it away, I was looking forward to these as they were for a picnic - such a shame, and I wasn't the only one who found them unpalatable. Won't be back - I think this shop would probably appeal to people who have a huge appetite - not for me, far too much bread - and salt!!!!

Huge sandwiches soft bread made to order with a great selection of fillings and some a little unusual. Very reasonably priced. I stop there every time I'm in Romsey.
