J Ayre Bakery in Bexley

Sold inedible sandwich. Dried out cheese and bread, lettuce going brown. Unfit for human consumption. Straight to the bin. Really disappointed, never had this problem there before.

I’m so surprised at all the negative reviews about swanley bakery, we haven’t been in the area for 18 months so Saturday 22nd June was our first time in that while & the ladies were just as happy , polite and helpful as they always were .. and the cakes are AMAZING!!!!

If you want to be ignored by the team who are employed to serve them by all means visit this bakery. No clear queuing system and it seems as if your face don't suit you get overlooked. Never mind. I'll spend my money and time elsewhere. Shocking customer service. Shame really, the area deserves better.

Crikey, they have still not read the reviews on hygiene here. Staff still go from touching money to touching the cakes. Today, my wife and another customer stood there as the staff in front of them busied themselves with cleaning up. Never looked up. Eventually my wife coughed to get attention. Staff seem very dopey.

Being going here for years but the Saturday girls need to have more training, wanted Hot x Buns week before last got home and they had given me chocolate Hot x Buns, went this week and I asked for plain Hot x Buns first of all she said we don't have any, then the lady said yes we do out the back when I got home they were wholemeal , not nice at all and very hard, so will try again this week and check they are white Hot x Buns before I leave the shop It's expensive but you can taste the difference its a better quality

Somewhere I could go daily as I work up the road, so many delicious options especially the BLT doorstep sandwiches, chocolate triangles and halo rings. Special shout out to Sue, she’s lovely and makes the atmosphere beautiful.

Went to bakers as I regularly do watch the woman behind in the counter with the dustpan sweep up and then proceed to not wash her hands and then cut tomatoes, surely hygiene should be paramount

Have ordered lunch here many times it never changes staff are so miserable, dare you ask for butter in your roll, the lady who makes them is so miserable and has the worst attitude. Really over priced, and for what your paying they make you feel like you can’t even ask for anything. It’s a joke, your better of at greggs.

never going here again! terribly rude staff, interrupt you half through an order to talk to another customer, then when you ask can I continue am snapped at by some poisonous dwarf. used to go here at least once a week and at least half the time the staff were extremely bad at queue management, SLOW, and dis courteous, only stuck it because my poor autistic daughter liked their tuna mayo and eats very little remotely healthy. thanks a lot to your awful customer service, my special needs daughter now has to do without.

Nipped in and got a fresh cream cake for a friends birthday and two sandwiches, minted lamb and coronation chicken. All absolutely lovely.

Don't bother. The hot food is either cold or unavailable, the large portions are what the small portions used to be. Bought a large sausage roll as the bacon was "out" (despite watching a tray of bacon go into the oven), it's dodgy-quality cold sausage in an oversized dried stick, which is going straight in the bin, tastes like it's stuffed with sawdust. I'm amazed as this has been my go to for years. Go to Westmount Road instead.

Excellent ! I bought one of each type of mince pie. Also fresh bread (they can slice it there) And a selection of pastries. We are lucky to live near by. The queue is outside, but worth the wait. No different from any other shop or bank today. Service was efficient and friendly. I lived in France and this bakery is gold standard in my eyes.

I’ve been a regular at this bakers for years and it certainly is the best around. The sausage rolls are delicious and all the cakes are amazing. It’s definitely worth coming here for a treat every now and then.

Ok so its lockdown and we are queueing, but the service is so slow.When you enter the shop you have to gain there attention as to which one is going to serve you.I bought 2 wholemeal rolls, and on getting them home i cooked not believe how tiny they were.Overall won't be back.To the owner please go to Swanley bakers to see what a wholemeal roll should look like

never been to a place with such miserable and rude staff ignored while they all stood there chatting with each other if you dont like the job leave!!!

service is shocking staff chat with each other ,you can walk in and after they finish talking they say are you being served !!! yip this has happened once its happened 20 times ,you feel like they are doing you a favour not that we are keeping them employed feel you the truth even though the quality of food is ok as we are limited to bakery in area,I've had enough of the attitude with them i would rather go hungry than go in there again,

My Partner loves this place, frequently drops in for lunch. He brings cakes home for me on occassion and they have always been superb. A lovely treat.

The popularity of this bakery was obvious by the number of customers who purchased while my wife and I were deciding on what to get. The various buns were superb but the hot pasties were out of this world. Very highly recommended.

I ordered a 25th anniversary cake for my sister, abt 10 days before her Anniversary. My sister also ordered a cake over the phone, when she went to pick up cake, the staff said "you are picking up your cake on Saturday". She said, "no, I ordered over the phone, and picking up. She was then shown my receipt. My sister then said, "that is not my receipt, as I ordered my cake over the phone. That is my Sister's receipt, this must have been a surprise as she has not mentioned ordering a cake! The staff started to laugh, felt it was funny, they then went on to say, why don't you act surprised, when your sister tells you abt it. My sister was really shocked at what the staff said. My sister told me what had happened. Rather than take responsibility that a mistake had occurred, they said that because we look alike, that's why it happened. We look nothing like each other! Even when I went back to pick up the cake, they couldn't see they had ruined a surprise 25th anniversary party!! Disappointing!!! It was more their reactions, that they felt it was funny!!

I had a birthday cake designed for my partner's birthday. They have a book of cakes they've designed that you can look through for inspiration, however you can discuss other options with them and the prices are really competitive. The staff are very friendly and make sure they understand exactly what you want so that you're happy with the design. We were all delighted with the result and it tasted gorgeous! Cake was lovely and moist with yummy chocolate icing. We also bought some individual cakes and the doughnuts are really good. Some may say expensive, but compared to Krispy Kreme etc they're half the price, just as yummy and bigger size!

Small chain of 3 shops in local area. Freshly baked bread and cakes delivered throughout the day. Hot snacks to take away with tea ,coffeee soft drinks.

I love this bakers❤️I’ve ordered and bought beautiful birthday cakes and Christmas cakes. Their sausage rolls and hot pasties are delicious especially the spicy Jamaican patty . The Danish pastries are the best I’ve ever tasted and my husband loves the jam doughnuts. Freshly baked bread and rolls of all sorts you are spoilt for choice. It really is the best bakers around!!!!

This is the only bakers that I will use. As far as I am aware they have two other shops Blackfen and Westmount Rd, Always full staffed always fresh bread and cakes.Celebration cakes done to order (few days).

Decent bread, cakes and coffee. Unfortunately only open when most people are at work. Service could be improved. It wouldn’t harm them if staff smiled from time to time, or put out the bread next to the right label.

Beast cakes and the beat savouries around and if you think you have tried the best then go here. Staff are always brilliant and if you cannot get what you want from this shop you have blacken and westmount Road Eltham to use as well.

This bakery is one of the best. If your looking for bread, pastries of the old sausage roll then visit this icon of South London. Lots of choice with bread loaves of all types and more cakes than you could imagine. The prices are very reasonable and definitely value for money. Always a friendly face and smile adds to the experience.

I recently discovered this gem at the top of my road! I ordered a victoria sponge cake with cream and jam for my colleagues birthday. I ordered the day before and it was ready for collection the following morning. The staff were really helpful and I'm grateful that they could put the order through at such late notice! The cake was absolutely divine! The sponge was so light and soft and tasted amazing! My colleague was very chuffed. I also bought a custard, toffee and pecan danish from here the other day and that too was delicious! Worth every bite! I highly recommend!
